Sub report issues

Post Author: JorgeLopez

hi everyone
I got a subreport and it has 3 fields on one side and other 3 in another side.
the question is: I got this situation
day month year                     c1 c2 c3
05 10 2007                        aa aaaa aaaaa
06 11 2007                        aa aaaa aaaaa
I don't need to repeat this because is a duplicate row BUT I guess that i cannot use supress if duplicated because I could have this situation:
day month year                     c1 c2 c3
05 10 2007                        aa aaaa aaaaa
06 11 2007                        aa aaaa aaaaa
07 12 2007                        aa b,mk  aaaaaa
if I use supress if duplicated I will not see these fileds.
Can I fix this?
Thanks in advance.

I guess what your're trying to convey is that you'd like to suppress the row if the combination of the c1, c2 and c3 fields are duplicated.
So right click the details and select format section->X2 next to suppress and place a formula of:
previous({table.c1}) & previous({table.c2}) & previous({table.c3}) = {table.c1} & {table.c2} & {table.c3}
-k

  • Visibility issue with a sub report in Report Manager

    I have a subreport in a List item. In the visibility property of the subreport, I have the following expression:
    =IIF(Fields!X.Value = "A", "True", IIF(Fields!X.Value = "B", "True", "False"))
    This is working fine for me in SSDT. If the value of field X is A or B the subreport does not display, but the subreport displays otherwise.
    However, when I upload the report to Report Manager and run it the subreport will always display, even when the value of Field X is A or B.
    Any suggestions for what I'm doing wrong, and/or how to fix or work around?. I've inserted Field X as a textbox into the List item, alongside the subreport, to ensure that the value is in fact A or B for the subreports that are displaying when they shouldn't.

    I've tried making the change suggested by
    PrajapatiNeha and then re-uploading the RDL to Report Manager.  The visibility error is still occurring.
    Thanks for your responses. I've downloaded the RDL from Report Manager, and located the appropriate code  for the subreport. The RDL contains the following for the sub-reports visibility properties:
    <Visibility>
    <Hidden>=iif(Fields!Indicator_Group.Value = "Service Utilisation" Or Fields!Indicator_Group.Value = "GP Referred Services", True, False)</Hidden></hidden>
    </Visibility>
    I dont really have any experience with reading the XML code, but this appears to be ok?
    If i set the visibility property to Hidden, then the subreport will not display for all records. But with the expression the subreport is still always displaying.
    Thanks

  • Issue accepting sub-report parameters using Command queries

    OK,
       I am using a query which accepts a linked parameter to create a sub-report. When I type the linked data straight into the query the data queries correctly. When I pass the same data through the parameter it doesn't pull any data. The query runs in SQL Management Studio so I know the data exists.
    The query is:
    select * from pmappedu Inner Join prmisccd on pmappedu.pmad_inst_cd = prmisccd.prms_code where  pmappedu.pmad_ssn='{?Pm-Command.pmaq_ssn}'
    I can display the parameter value in the report and it's correct. All data types seem to match. I am not sure what else to do.
    Sam

    For some reason the sub-report would not accept the parameter passed from the main report in the Command feature so I got around it by taking out the where clause and using the Select Expert to do my where clause in the report itself. However, this seems very counterintuitive and not at all what I would expect for a SQL-based report. If I am understanding the process correctly, the SQL query is returning ALL data unfiltered and then filtering the report at run-time of the Crystal processes instead of with the SQL engine on the SQL server. This is actually pretty ridiculous because of the performance hit that we would take on say, a million records.

  • Page break not applying when using sub report inside main report

    I have a main report inside which there is subreport (using SQL Server 2012). I placed some page breaks inside subreport but they were not working. I read on technet forums that this is a a known issue with SSRS.
    One solution I found is to put a table inside main report, then in first row add a rectangle and set its property "Add a page break after" and then add subreport after this rectangle in that table in main report. I did that and now in some cases
    it does show sub report on a separate page but sometimes it shows subreport on same page.
    Could it be because in some case sub report has no or less data (hence it cannot cover whole page) and in that case it will always show on one page? How can I show empty subreport on a separate page?

    I fixed it by clicking both "Add a page break before" and "Add a page break after" in rectangle.

  • Sub Report Performance problem

    Our current software configuration is Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.0.2531.0) where our data is housed. Our User Interface is Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (Visual Basic) and Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1 platform.  We use Crystal Reports 2008 (12.0.0.683) to do our reporting.
    We upgraded from Crystal Reports XI and our reports are taking a long time to render?... Is there any evidence of other companies experiencing this trouble? Are there any degraded performance issues when moving from XI to 2008?
    In some cases we utilizing a small simple sub report.
    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Billy,
    Subreports in detail sections are never a good idea. Example, you have 100 records returned int he main report and if that field is your subreport link it causes the subreport to run 100 times. Your database is being queried 101 times.
    Also, the default time out for database is typically 1 minute, could be you need to verify your report and database so CR can "clean up" any wrong pointers.
    It's always better to do the data collection server side if and when possible, after all that's what they do best.
    Not much detail to go on so I can't say if it's a report design problem other than the above or not. It could be also that .NET takes time to load all of the CR assemblies so depending on how you have your app configured depends on the delay. If you load a dummy report when your starts up to pre-load CR runtime then subsequent reports will be much faster.
    Also check off all of the Verify Database options, you may be telling CR to verify each time which on big databases can cause a delay also.
    Thank you
    Don

  • On Demand sub report not printing in IE and Other Browsers

    Hi All,
    We have developed Crystal report for our web application with version 13.0 and Visual Studio 2010.
    When we run our web app in IIS report display fine in All web browser and when we print report in ActiveX mode in IE 9+ for main report it prints fine but if we print on demand sub report it not printing even a single page out of 2 or more than 2 page.
    If on demand sub report has only one page then it will print in IE 9+  browser.
    Even If we click on Export button on demand sub report easily export to pdf or any formate the issue while we print it.
    It going to hanged while we print on demand sub report with more than one page.
    Please help in this issue.
    Also  please let me know if you want more detail.

    Not sure why you created two Discussions on the same issue? (CR on demand sub report goes hang in IE)

  • Sub-reports DO NOT WORK in Crystal for Eclipse v2

    Hi,<br />
    <br />
    We have recently upgraded from Crystal JRC to CR4E 12.2.202. Our application updates the JDBC connections at runtime to supply credentials.<br />
    <br />
    Everything seems to be working except sub reports.  When using sub reports we get the error shown below.<br />
    <br />
    On reading other forum posts, the top error about PropertyResourceBundle just seems to be about trying <br/>

    <i>Error code:-2147217394 Error code name:missingParameterValueError</i><br />
    <br/>
    Any idea what has changed and how we can resolve this issue?<br />

    We raised a support issue on this and was given a work around.
    With Crystal for Eclipse, you can no longer use "dynamically" generated sub report parameters, you must manually add the parameter to the sub report and apply a record level selection formula.
    Steps for the work around:
    1. Open the sub report and manually add a parameter field in the field explorer.  You can call it whatever you want, but make sure the data type is correct.  It should match the datatype that will be passed in by the main report.
    2. Click Report -> Selection formula -> Record
    3. Enter in a formula like this: {MYTABLE.ID} = {?subreportparam}
    4. Save and close
    5. Go back to the main report
    6. Right click the sub report -> Change sub report links
    7. Drag a report field into the fields to link list
    7. In sub report parameter field to use, select you're newly created parameter and click OK

  • Sub report parameter prompt appears when running Visual Studio 2008 with Crystal Reports 2008

    Post Author: relliott
    CA Forum: .NET
    If I build a simple Crystal Report that contains another simple Crystal Sub Report, the report will print preview fine in Crystal 2008.  The problem happens when add this report to a Visual Studio 2008 Web Application Project and I build and debug the application, the Crystal Viewer is prompting the user for the parameter used to link the sub report to the main report.  This should never happen as the user is not supposed to see this parameter.  If I type in some value for this sub-report parameter prompt, the Crystal Report Viewer gives an error message about not finding the field.
    I was having the same problem in Vs2005 with Crystal 10 which is why I upgraded.  Business Object's official fix for this problem was published under their KB article number c2018840 and c2019047.  These hot fixes ended up causing general exception errors in Visual Studio so I scrapped these solutions.
    Support had me install SP0 for Crystal 2008 (which did not fix it).
    Any ideas?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rich Elliott

    Hi Bontrager,
    Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
    According to your description, I agree with pvdg42's suggestion, so I suggest you can try pvdg42's suggestion to install the version of
    Crystal Reports 10.5 to check this issue again.

  • Open an on demand sub report in a new window

    Hi There!
    While reading the forum threads, there is an thread that have the same issue that i want to find out, but the thread is not yet answered. Could you guys help me. Thanks!
    Thread by: Kylie Edwards
    Hi I am wondering if it is possible to open an on demand sub report in a new window.
    I have a report that has 6 level drill and I want to be able to close the information in the sub report to give the end user the ability to keep drilling.
    I have tried inserting a text box with a hyper link back to the main report but hyper links do not seem to work the subreport. "
    Thanks and Regards,
    Joni

    Hi all,
    Sorry for the late reply, and thank you guys for the helped. I manage to solve the problem myself
    To Falk:
    Ya you are right, for what i know,  Inforview is not possible to open a subreport from a RPT file in a new windows as well.
    To Wallie Cheng :
    When i posted the question for help, i just want to know if i could display a crystal report on a new window.
    My situation is that i have a page that is size 3in x 3in ( Just a small static graph ) and i wanna attached a A4 report. In order to have a nicer view at inforview ( 3in x 3in border box ), i will need to reduced the size of the crystal report. The size of the main report is now properly change, but it affects the view for the sub report ( As subreport is A4 size, the system display the A4 size document in a serveral 3in x 3in page. -_-"' ).
    To Abhishek:
    I wanna try out your solution, but i can't find the hyperlink tab in perference option ( in inforview ).
    I manage to solved my problem (suitation that i have explain to Wallie Cheng ). That is to created a hyperlink to the report. Rather than a subreport link.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Joni

  • Crystal Report issue : Error in file.. .rpt . Error in formula

    Hi ,
    I recently migrated a report from production to test environemnt and it throws me the following error:
    Error in File C:\DOCUME1\oe_user\LOCALS1\Temp\packing instructions {4058873B-9756-4052-B479-EBD2D0A08E7D}.rpt:Error in formula  <Object_Visibility>. '{Command.EXACT_WEIGHT_FLAG} = "Ne (No)"'
    This field name is not known.
    In production server is installed Oracle 9i database and in test server is installed Oracle 10g
    The report has 1 main report and 2 sub reports.
    1. The same report works fine in production server without any issues.
    2. I had executed the report in Crystal reports 2008 and it runs fine displaying all fields without any issues.
    3. I had also tried taking the query of both subreports and the main report and tried executing it in oracle and it runs fine without any issues.
    However during the runtime in the test server, it throws the following error.
    Can someone help me out with this issue..

    Hi Siva,
    What is the patch level of CR 2008?
    Is it a win or a web app?
    What is the server OS?
    First, try to simply view the report. Let  the report prompt for the database credentials and the parameter values if any.
    See if it reproduces the issue.
    ReportDocument rd = new ReportDocument();
            rd.Load(Server.MapPath("CrystalReport.rpt"));
            CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = rd;
    Take a look at the SAP Note :

  • Can i inactivate a sub report?

    Hi,
    I'm using sub reports in a principal report.
    When the final user see's the report, he can clic on the sub report witch will show in a second page.
    I would like to disalbe this action, is it possible?
    If not do you know a trick to prevent it?
    For know, i place a label on top of the sub report. like that, if the user click on the sub report, the clic will fall on the label and not on the sub report. the limit of this issue is that many of my sub report grow depending on it's containt. In this case, the label doesn't protect any more the sub report.
    I'm using Crystal Report (Basic, version 10) that works with Microsoft Visual Studio.

    Hello, Helen;
    The method to stop drilldown has a wide scope. It will stop the drilldown on the subreport but it will also stop any other drilldown you may have designed. Groups for example.
    In code, use the Crystal Reports Viewer object:
    CrystalReportViewer1.EnableDrilldown = False
    'Set the viewer to the report to be previewed
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = crReportDocument

  • Error In ECC For Crystal Report Containing Sub-Report Link

    Hi,
    We are using Crystal Reports 2013. We extracted a Crystal Report from SAP ECC to modify it further utilizing the features of Crystal and export it back to SAP ECC.
    The updated Crystal Report has a Sub-Report link within it, while exporting it back to SAP ECC, we get the attached error message as "layout.subreport should not contain any data connections".
    However, on removing the Sub-Report link, the report can be successfully exported back to ECC and executes without any issues.
    Is there any limitation on features to be used when exporting Crystal Reports to ECC?
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Crystal Report Viewer - Sub Reports

    Hi Everyone,
                        I'm working with Crystal Reports(V13.0.7) Windows form viewer in VS2012(VB.Net). I have a sub report which is causing problems. I have set the link to the Main report parameter and Sub report. I have a total of 43 parameters getting passed(Main and Sub Reports including). While setting the ReportSource in code, I find that there are 43 parameter fields passed. But i constantly get an error "The parameter is incorrect". An important thing to note is that- Whenever i debug the code, the report gets displayed but it is not so when in release mode. Can anyone help me in this regard. I'm totally frustrated and its been weeks and i haven't solved the issue yet. I have attached the files below (FrmViewer - Used to add and set report source for Main and sub reports) and (Display-AR-REPORT( ) - for passing main report and sub report parameters). The AR.Rpt report

    Hi Sastry,
                   Firstly, thanks for replying to my post. I have checked all the parameters passed, did some changes(Had extra 0's after decimal point), but still no change. The same old Error. As i have mentioned before, Whenever i debug the code, the report gets displayed but it is not so when in release mode. The file (Original Report.png)image is a Perfect report. The report file (MyReport.png)shown below is my report.

  • SSRS subreport with a sub-report as header on all pages

    Hello,
    I need some guidance on how to get a sub-report with a sub-report header and an expanding table. Please see below.
    This is the structure of things that I have:
    Main Report 1 is being invoked by ONLY Parameter 1 (User Text Box Entry).
    It Contains:
         Page 1: Sub-Report 1 invoked by Parameter 1
         Page 2 or more Pages: Sub-report 2 and a table (T1) expanding vertically based on Parameter 1 and Parameter 2. The Sub-report 2 should appear as header on all pages where T1 rows are there. Additionally, multiple Parameter 2
    values may be present and if so, they need to appear on a different page with appropriate header/table data. Parameter 1 and 2 are associated with a ONE dataset & its fields.
         Last Page: Sub-Report 3 and few text boxes below it. Invoked by Parameter 1
    The issue is I don't know how to insert Page 2 content. I tried making a new report with Sub-report 2 and the T1 below it. This is working fine but I'm not able to get the sub-report as header on all pages EXCEPT the first page. FixedData and RepeatOnNewPage
    properties are TRUE & KEEPwithGroup is set to 'AFTER'. Also, once I'm done with this report how do I insert it in the main report. Would it be in group / outside group in the group properties -- I would really appreciate if you can guide me with steps.
    Thank you,
    Nichesl
    Nichesl

    Thanks Asha ,
    Actually this is how my Report  layout is
    Group Header
    ---Detail1
    ---Detail2
    ---Detail3
    Group Footer1 (New Page After and Show at Bottom Setting)
    Group Footer 2 (New Page Before Setting)
    This is the layout of my report.
    When Details and Group Footer1 come in same page then my Group Header works perfect.
    When there are many details then the Group Footer1 skips into next page and Group Header does not show up in that page.
    Our requirement is such a way that Group Footer1 should have Group Header and Group Footer2 should always come in new page (i.e. last Page)
    I think I made it clear on my issue/requirement.
    Again I really appreciate for your reply.
    Regards

  • Error exporting report with sub report and parameters

    CA Forum: JAVA
    I am using the JRC to export to a PDF file a report that has a sub report within it. Both the main and subreport connect to an Oracle database via an Oracle ODBC connection and both share a single parameter, RUN_ID. I need to set a value for the parameter in both reports. not. I am not sure why the update to set the RUN_ID in the second SQL query fails, but it seems to me the JRC is not detecting it as a missing parameter and is passing the SQL including {?RUN_ID} to Oracle, causing the JDBC driver to fail with this NullPointerException. I think this because further up in the log I see this:-INFO - Executing query: SELECT v.* FROM v_ger_main vwhere v.run_id = 254INFO - Verifying databaseINFO - Executing query: SELECT h.* FROM v_ger_av_ls_tagging hwhere h.run_id = {?RUN_ID}ERROR - QueryEngine error: verify database failed.Both connections are from the same database, but the first has the updated value (254) whilst the second query still seems to have the parameter and so fails to verify.Can someone suggest how I can fix this problem or if I have missed something that is required?Thanks.Jon.

    What happens if, instead of passing in parameter field values, you pass the report source object to the viewer (ReportViewerBean for stand-alone or CrystalReportViewer for web)?  The viewer should introspect the report for the parameter fields and bring up a parameter field entry dialog box.  Does such a dialog box come up?  Is only the main report parameter field queried for, or both main and subreport paramter fields?  When you enter correct values for the field, does the report display?
    Hopefully, the above should narrow down the issue.
    By the way, JRC doesn't support ODBC connections, only Java based connectivity such as JDBC, JavaBeans and XML.  If you have a report with ODBC, then it looks for a JNDI connection with the same name.

    Ted Ueda
