Sub Reports and drilldown

I have a sub report displayed in the report footer section. In both the main report and in the sub report I have intentionally unchecked the box for "create group tree".
Is there a way to prevent, disable or suppress the ability to drilldown to that sub report? A mouse click on the sub report brings the sub report up in its own viewer and as expected the drilldown to any detail in the sub report is disabled. What I am being asked to do is prevent the sub report from being displayed seperately from the main report.

Right click on the Report Footer --> Select Suppress(No Drill-Down).

Error exporting report with sub report and parameters

I am using the JRC to export to a PDF file a report that has a sub report within it. Both the main and subreport connect to an Oracle database via an Oracle ODBC connection and both share a single parameter, RUN_ID. I need to set a value for the parameter in both reports. not. I am not sure why the update to set the RUN_ID in the second SQL query fails, but it seems to me the JRC is not detecting it as a missing parameter and is passing the SQL including {?RUN_ID} to Oracle, causing the JDBC driver to fail with this NullPointerException. I think this because further up in the log I see this:-INFO - Executing query: SELECT v.* FROM v_ger_main vwhere v.run_id = 254INFO - Verifying databaseINFO - Executing query: SELECT h.* FROM v_ger_av_ls_tagging hwhere h.run_id = {?RUN_ID}ERROR - QueryEngine error: verify database failed.Both connections are from the same database, but the first has the updated value (254) whilst the second query still seems to have the parameter and so fails to verify.Can someone suggest how I can fix this problem or if I have missed something that is required?Thanks.Jon.

What happens if, instead of passing in parameter field values, you pass the report source object to the viewer (ReportViewerBean for stand-alone or CrystalReportViewer for web)? The viewer should introspect the report for the parameter fields and bring up a parameter field entry dialog box. Does such a dialog box come up? Is only the main report parameter field queried for, or both main and subreport paramter fields? When you enter correct values for the field, does the report display?
Hopefully, the above should narrow down the issue.
By the way, JRC doesn't support ODBC connections, only Java based connectivity such as JDBC, JavaBeans and XML. If you have a report with ODBC, then it looks for a JNDI connection with the same name.

Report Optimization and Sub Reports

Hello,I am currently working with Crystal Reports XI Release 2 and have questions about optimization. We have a dataset (.NET) generated from Oracle and then passed to Crystal. For our largest report it is taking 15 seconds for the dataset to be generated, but over 3 minuets for Crystal to generate the report. We have 14 sub reports within this report. I'm pretty certain this is the bottle neck.Any sub report optimization suggestions? Would arrays be the way to go instead?

I went through the report and suppressed all sub reports and this cut the time down by 1/3 but still too slow. On our largest report we are getting 376 pages and with the sub reports suppressed there are 263 pages returned. Does anyone know if still goes through/caches the info of a sub report even if the report is suppressed?

Sub-report summary fields

I have two sub-reports on a report. Each of these sub-reports have a quantity summary on them. I want to find the difference between these two summary totals.
So let's say Sub(A) total is 200 and Sub(B) total is 25, is there a way to subtract the 25 from the 200 and bring that total to the main report?

Is it possible to pass a formula value from a sub-report to a main report

Hi there,
Im trying to pass a formula value from a Sub-report back upto into my Main report but the value doesnt seem to be getting passed up. Ive tried it the other way around, that is, passing a value from the main report to the sub-report and that works fine.
Below is an example of what I am trying to do but it is not working. In my sub-report Ive declared a formula variable as,
formula name=main_subIntRatePageCount
Shared NumberVar subIntRatePageCount := TotalPageCount;
and in the Main report Ive declared the formula variable as,
formula name=subIntRatePageCount
Shared NumberVar subIntRatePageCount;
subIntRatePageCount;
I want the value assigned to "subIntRatePageCount" in my Sub-Report to be available to my Main report.
The problem I am trying to solve is that the sub-report is spilling over onto two pages, and I need a way of updating the page display on the main report to reflect this. The page display is of format, "displaying page 1 of 3", but its not taking into account the extra page produced by the sub-report, so it should say "displaying page 1 of 4".

I've tried adding the "whileprintingrecords" statement but that doesnt seem to make any difference.
I notice that the subReport is being called from my the GroupFooter section of the main report, and I am trying to reference the variable in the main repot in the Page Footer section. Could it be that the variable hasnt been calculated in the Page Footer by the time I calculate it in sub-Report? I thought Crystal Reports does at least 5 passes over the report evaluating all the formulas before it prints the report?
The problem Im trying to solve is I need to know how many pages my report will have before its completed, so that i can print the statement "displaying page 1 of X", and X is currently not being calculated correctly because the sub-report is printing onto 2 pages and not 1 so the report thinks I have 1 of X pages and not X+1.

Sub-reports DO NOT WORK in Crystal for Eclipse v2

We have recently upgraded from Crystal JRC to CR4E 12.2.202. Our application updates the JDBC connections at runtime to supply credentials. 
 
Everything seems to be working except sub reports. When using sub reports we get the error shown below. 
 
On reading other forum posts, the top error about PropertyResourceBundle just seems to be about trying 
to print an error message from the real exception, which is in the third stack trace below: 
Error code:-2147217394 Error code name:missingParameterValueError 
 
Any idea what has changed and how we can resolve this issue?

We raised a support issue on this and was given a work around.
With Crystal for Eclipse, you can no longer use "dynamically" generated sub report parameters, you must manually add the parameter to the sub report and apply a record level selection formula.
Steps for the work around:
1. Open the sub report and manually add a parameter field in the field explorer. You can call it whatever you want, but make sure the data type is correct. It should match the datatype that will be passed in by the main report.
2. Click Report -> Selection formula -> Record
3. Enter in a formula like this: {MYTABLE.ID} = {?subreportparam}
4. Save and close
5. Go back to the main report
6. Right click the sub report -> Change sub report links
7. Drag a report field into the fields to link list
7. In sub report parameter field to use, select you're newly created parameter and click OK

Crystal Report Viewer 11.5 Java SDK - How to set sub report parameter value

Good day!
I have a report with 3 sub-reports in the detail section. Main report has two parameters and each sub-report has one parameter in turn. We have our own JSP to receive parameter values from the user. I am using the following code to do the parameter value setting later into the report. Parameter value setting works for main report, but not for the sub-report.
I get an Error, for the first sub-report, from the viewer saying:
The parameter 'parametername' does not allow null values

It says to set the report name of the parameter field to the name of the sub report. On this aspect, assuming this tip/solution works, I would like to read the names of the sub-reports and their parameter names. I do not want to hard-code them into our application.

Crystal Report Hyperlink to Sub-report or other report

Hi,
I would like to create a report on which the first part will show project summary page. The second part will have all project detail pages and third part with all project financial informations.
The report should work in such a way whenever user clicks on any project at first summary page this has to jump to corresponding detail page of projects.
I have the following question regarding design of this report.
1. Do I need to create a saparate report as a sub report and then merge with main report in a footer section? Or is it ok to create sub-report within main report through sub-report wizard option?
2. How can I establish hyperlink between the pages i.e. summary to detail pages?
3. back hyperlink to first pages.
I am expecting more information about hyperlink options within Crystal report.

You can create a separate report and then insert it as a subreport in the main report or create it with sub report wizard.
Once you click on Insert -> Subreport, you can see there are two options, one is to point to an existing report and another is to create it through wizard.

You can use the hyperlink between report objects. Also you can apply a customized formula for this.

Crystal Report Viewer - Sub Reports

Hi Everyone,
I'm working with Crystal Reports(V13.0.7) Windows form viewer in VS2012(VB.Net). I have a sub report which is causing problems. I have set the link to the Main report parameter and Sub report. I have a total of 43 parameters getting passed(Main and Sub Reports including). While setting the ReportSource in code, I find that there are 43 parameter fields passed. But i constantly get an error "The parameter is incorrect". An important thing to note is that- Whenever i debug the code, the report gets displayed but it is not so when in release mode. Can anyone help me in this regard. I'm totally frustrated and its been weeks and i haven't solved the issue yet. Firstly, thanks for replying to my post. I have checked all the parameters passed, did some changes(Had extra 0's after decimal point), but still no change. The same old Error. How to activate a different sub-report for each row in the data set as main report page breaks on each row of data in the main dataset

I am going to try asking this same question a different way as I have yet to find a working solution to my problem. I have a main report and then 8 sub reports. My main report has one data set and returns one row of data per account number. One
of the fields in the main data set is called AccountProf. My main report displays one page per Account number and then calls a different sub report based on that account's AccountProf value. The sub reports take in the account number as a parameter
and get multiple rows of data to display that accounts usage formatted differntly for each AccountProf (hence the 8 different sub report.
So far I can figure out how to do everything but setting the visibility property of each sub-reports when I have multiple accounts. If I use the following expression for the visibility property on each sub report, it makes all the applicable sub report
for all the accounts requested visible at once:
=IIF(Fields!AccountProf.Value= "USE_PLUS_DMD",False,True)
*The value in bold USE_PLUS_DMD is different for each sub report.

According to your description, there is a main report and 8 sub reports in the report, you want to set visibility of sub reports, if no value is passed to the parameter of sub report, the sub report will not be displayed. If that is the case, please refer
to the following steps:
1. Create a new parameter named NewAccountNumber, set its data type the same as @AccountNumber, select Allow multiple values, set Visibility to be hidden, then set all available values to default values.
2. Right-click the first sub report and open Subreport Properties dialog box, click Parameters in left pane, set name to AccountNumber, then click (fx) button, type the expression like below:
=Parameters! NewAccountNumber(0)
3. Click Visibility in left pane, select Show or hide based on an expression, then click (fx) button and type the expression like below:
=IIF(InStr(Join(Parameters! AccountNumber.Value), Parameters!NewAccountNumber.Value(0))>0 , false,true)
4. Modify parameter of other sub reports like step2.
5. Set visibility of other sub reports like step3.

I Have developed the report with 2 tabs . Summary Tab- All the manager Information ( The Calculations not only sub of sub ordinates/ Employees, The manager also has own business no Manager Sales in different from subordinate sales )

I want to display the manager actual performance (From Summary Tab) in the Detail Tab
So bascially I want to pass the Manager name to the summary section employee name and get the sales from Summary

Hello Yogeeswar,
This can be done by using the Open doc functionalaity in Webi.
1.Please create Prompt in the sub report for Manager
2.Come to the main report right click on the Manager column and you can see linking->in that choose add document.
3.It will ask you to chose the webi doc then choose your Sub report and it will display the prompts of sun report.Now you assign Manager object to that prompt...
Now you can see the Manager values with hyperlinking mode..click on any of the value you can get the sub report for that manager only.

Sub reports

Hi All,
I have a report having a command object where I have empno and some columns. And I have another command object which also having empno.
The 2nd command object should get some empnos from 1st command object and should display countries based on the matched empnos . So I linked both command objects empnos in links tab.
There is no parameter for both the reports
Due to some performance issue I am doing like this
Created a sub report with 2nd command object . Now in sub reports links tab I am passing main reports empno to sub reports empno
But I am getting non matching empnos data.
Please suggest

I tired to suppress the records where there is no country.
I did like this but not getting the result.
Took a copy of sub report and placed it in report header as my sub report is in details section.
In the sub report created a shared var like this.
shared stringvar s :={sample1.country};
And now in main report created a formula @Country to get country like this.
shared stringvar s ;
And in details section->suppress ->x-2 I wrote like this.
isnull({@Country})
Please suggest what is wrong here

Passing database command parameter to sub-report

I'm trying to pass a runtime parameter from a main report to a database command parameter in a sub-report, and having some trouble.
My main report has parameter fields (Vendor, Manufacturer, etc) that the user selects at runtime - the result set includes Item Code - that part is working fine. Where I'm having trouble is with linking to the sub-report. My sub-report has a stored command that takes a parameter (ItemCode) and counts the number of times it's shown up on an invoice. When I created the command, it asked for a value for the parameter, and won't accept a blank entry. Now, whenever I try to run the main report, it asks for the ItemCode parameter for the sub-report - which kind of defeats the purpose. I've tried linking from ?Pm-OITM.ItemCode in the main report, but the Subreport Links window doesn't show the Command parameter to link to.
How do I take a field from the main report and pass it to a sub-report to be used as a parameter in a stored database command?
I'm running CR 2008, and SAP B1 2007 PL 42 on MS SQL 2005, and I'm still pretty new at CR, so details help.

Go to change subreport links and add Item Code from main report and then you can see the sureport stored procedure parameter in the Subreport parameters list, select the parameter and do not select any field from subreport.
You will be able to see the stored procedure parameter in the list only when the Item Code and the parameter are of same data type.

Hi Try this.
Create a formula like this in subreport1 (from the report where you want to pass your value)
Whileprintingrecrods;
Shared Numbervar x :={subreport1Value};
Then go to 2nd sub report and Create a formula like this
Whileprintingrecrods;
Shared Numbervar x ;
Note :Your sub report1 should execute before sub report2 .That means sub report1 should be in the above section of sub report2
