Submit a form based on responses from a field

I was wondering if this can be done, I would like to submit a from but when it is submitted I want it to go to a particular email address based on a result of another field.
Example, If I have 4 geographic regions in the US (eastern, central, Mountain, and pacific) I would like the form sent to a generic region email based on the region the customer picks from an above field.
I have no problem using Forms Central if need be but I do not know if Acrobat can do this.  I understand Acrobat is not really a Database but could use some guidance
Has anyone done this and can it even be done?
Thanks in Advance

Yes, it can be done. See this tutorial:

  • Can I auto-populate fields in a pdf form based on responses in other fields (using Acrobat XI PRO)?

    I am creating a fillable pdf form using Acrobat XI Pro and would like to be able to auto-populate text fields in one section of the form based on responses entered by respondents in an earlier section.  Is this possible?  If so, would it function for respondents using Adobe Reader to complete the form?
    Many thanks,
    Andy

    Thanks, George!  In the form I am creating, I ask respondents to identify a number of organizations that they work with.  For example, I ask "Please list up to ten organizations" and then I provide ten text boxes for organizations 1-10.  I then ask a series of follow up questions (radio buttons, check boxes, and rating scales) about each organization.  I would like to auto-populate the fields of those follow up questions with the names of the organizations that the respondents had written.  Does that make sense?  Will this require JavaScript?  My hope is to avoid complicated scripts that may give respondents technical problems with the form.  Thanks again,
    Andy

  • Restricting a user(based on Responsibility) from updating the sales order

    Hi,
    We have a requirement here, that for a prticular responsibility the user shouldn't be able to update anything in the sales order. He can although perform below operations -
    1. Query the order to view the details.
    2. Release the OM holds, if any.
    Other than these two things.. He shouldn't be able to make/save any changes to the order. We are using R12.
    Now, what we tried is -
    1. Created a forms personalization, that would check
    if fnd_global.resp_id = <desired resp_id>
    then raise form trigger failure in when-validate-record.
    this is restricting the user to make any change in order. But, issue is he can still book an entered order.
    So, requirement drills down to -
    1. How to restrict the user from booking an entered order.
    2. How to restrict the user to perform any other thing than releasing the hold (from actions).
    Any help regarding this will be highly appreciated. Also, please let me know, if it is possible using Processing constraints or any other standard means.
    Regards
    Bhushan

    i think you are putting this filter on employee table.If you want to apply adat level security then put these filters on groups.create one group and assign al user on which you want to apply data level security.on this group put this filter
    upper("Employee"."DEPARTMENT") = upper(VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."DEPARTMENT")).
    And create another group and assign Jeff to that group and dont apply any filter on this group.You can apply these filters on individual users also but its a good parctise to make use of groups.

  • Seeking Pdf form help - javascript formula to auto-populate fields based on data from other fields.

    Hi there, I am new to PDF form work, and am wondering if someone could help me with a javascript formula.
    I want to auto-populate the EXPIRYDATE field, as the same date as the entered AUTHORIZATIONDATE field, but 4 years later.
    So, I want to be able to enter 11/14/2014 in the AUTHORIZATIONDATE date, and have 11/14/2018 auto populate in the EXPIRYDATE field.
    Seems simple I know, but I've messed around quite a bit and can't seem to make it work. Is this possible??
    Any help would be very much appreciated!!

    And what have you done?
    This can only be done with custom JavaScript programing.
    The value of date type fields are text field and not numeric data. The first task is to convert the dates to a number on some type of number sequence that is a mapping to dates.
    Have you looked at the Acrobat JavaScript API Reference, the MDN JavaScript reference?
    I would use the Acrobat JavaScript util.scand to covert the date string to the number of milliseconds from January 1, 1970 midnight. and then use the getFullYear method of the date object for the year value and add 4 years to that value and then use the setFullYear method to set the year for the date object. Now you can use the util.printd method to format the date object as a date string with a specific format.
    // get the date value, format of date string and years to add;
    var cDate = "11/14/2014"; // date value;
    var cFormat = "mm/dd/yyyy"; // date format;
    var nYears = 4; // years to add;
    // convert date string to date object;
    var oDate = util.scand(cFormat, cDate);
    if(oDate == null) {
    app.alert("Error converting " + cDate + " using format " + cFormat, 0, 1);
    // add years to date object;
    oDate.setFullYear(oDate.getFullYear() + nYears);
    // display result;
    var cExpireyDate = util.printd(cFormat, oDate);
    app.alert("Authorization Date: " + cDate + "." +
    "\nExpire Date: " + cExpireyDate, 3, 0);

  • Populating a text field in a form based on selection from a list field?

    Hello,
    I'm using Acrobat 9 on a mac.
    In the list field users choose their hospital name. I then want the address associated with this hospital to populate a text field. Where do I enter the hospital addresses and the "script" (if hospital X then this address)? I've copied this list field and am using it in multiple places on the form by utilizing "global binding" and this is working well.
    Also, can the choices in a list field "drop down" or is the only option available a "click through?"
    Thanks in advance for your help!!

  • Populate field based on selection from another field?

    I'm using a Data Connection with a SQL query that returns two fields (StNameFull and ADDRKEY). I have a drop-down list called "Address" with the list items dynamically bound to StNameFull, so the user can select the address.
    What I'm trying to do is populate the second field "Key" with the corresponding record, based on the selection made from the drop-down list.
    Is it possible to script this so that when the Address is selected the Key will automatically fill in with the key that matches the address selcted?
    I currently have "Key" as a text field bound to ADDRKEY, but not sure how to have it check what was selected in "Address"
    Thanks so much,
    - Kevin

    Yes it is possible but you will have to write some script to do it. You wil also have to ge the DataConenction to execute a SQL statement. There is a good blog on this topic at this location:

  • [SOLVED] Using wget to submit a form

    Edit: Figured out I was using the wrong URL and needed some necessary POST/GET data I wasn't filling out.
    Hm, I am trying to be able to submit a form using wget. I am able to actually put data in <textarea> like I want, but I fail to submit it through wget.
    I was able to login to the site by cheating a little bit. I came up with two methods to do it, the first one is easy which is just going to ~/.mozilla/firefox/<xxxx>/cookies.sqlite, and converting it to a *.txt. Easy. Or you can do it the slightly more complicated way by going to page you want, typing the url bar javascript:document.write(document.cookie); document.close(); and manually create the cookies.txt file using the information from that. Anyhow, that is how I am able to go into the site without having to submit my username/password in the first place (I kept failing to do that, it didn't even return the page with my username and password typed in like what's going on below). Anyhow, now I am stumped at actually submitting the post I want to. I execute:
    wget --cookies=on --keep-session-cookies --load-cookies=cookie.txt --post-data="Post=test" http://www.url-to-the-site.com/
    and the end result is:
    ^This is what wget returns and what it looks like when I open it in Firefox.^
    Which is what it returns. I checked the website and it didn't post it (I expected that since it returns that and not the post itself). I know you can't see it in the image there, but there is a submit button at the bottom of the page.
    The form looks something like this (stripped down):
    <form action='<url of website>' method='post' name='REPLIER' onsubmit='return ValidateForm()'>
    <input type='hidden' name='act' value='Post' />
    <input type='hidden' name='s' value='xxxxxx' />
    <input type='hidden' name='f' value='24' />
    <input type='hidden' name='auth_key' value='xxxxxx' />
    <input type='hidden' name='CODE' value='09' />
    <input type='hidden' name='t' value='41457' />
    <input type='hidden' name='p' value='514135' />
    <input type='hidden' name='st' value='0' /><br />
    <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Add Reply" tabindex='4' class='forminput' accesskey='s' />
    <input type="submit" name="preview" value="Preview Post" tabindex='5' class='forminput' />
    </form>
    Any idea?
    **Meh, in my experience of posting here, helpers/answers/whatever usually like an answer of why I have to do this the difficult way instead of just going there and posting myself in the first place (after all, it might help you answer the question). Well, we are playing a little game in there and I wrote a little script that keeps track of the points in the game... It makes a nice little pretty table that I use cron to update every hour, but then people have to wait until I actually post the table to see how they are doing in the game. So... I'd like to have it automatically post each update.
    Then I have a second use: If I am able to successfully post this, I am trying to get into a class at college. I already wrote a script that detects whether there is available space or not in the class. I'd like to be able to have it monitoring for an open spot in the class and if so... to check it [x] and submit so I can get in the class without having to sit at the computer refreshing all day hopelessly.
    And plus I learned programming, how to use so much utilities to do whatever... why stop now?
    In advance, thank you for taking the time to help me with this.

    have you considered using curl? Submitting forms in curl is very easy. and saving cookies is easy as well.
    for example:
    curl -s -D lccookie -d "login=$login&password=$password" http://somepage.com/index.php?
    to log in (which also is submitting a form), and
    curl -s -b lccookie -e http://somepage.com/index.php --data-urlencode "EntryEffect%3A=$entryeffect" --data-urlencode "ClosingEffect%3A=$closingeffect" --data-urlencode "Color%3A=$colour" --data-urlencode "messagefield=$OPTARG" -d "Submit=Submit" http://somepage.com/index.php?
    to reuse the cookie and submit a form. (This is from a script I wrote that sends formated messages to a page which shows them on a ledbar.)

  • Email Notifications Based on Response

    Is it possible to have the email notification go to different email addresses based on response from a drop down menu?
    For example, a "Safety" issue, when chosen, would be automatically forwarded to the safety manager  or a "Clinical" issue to the clinical operations manager and not each and every email address of the whole team?
    Thanks for your help!

    That might be a good idea for the future.
    Thanks for your help and I hope that you have a great day!

  • Behavior in form-based authentication

    Environment
    - WebLogic5.1 with SP8
    - WinNT 4.0 with SP5
    - JDK1.2.2
    When an authenticated user tries to access a resource that the user is not
    authorized to access, he/she
    is automatically forwarded to login page and WebLogic loses the
    authentication information of that user.
    Then the user has to re-login to access resources that he/she has
    permissions and previously accessed.
    My question is:
    1. Is there any way to redirect the user who attempts to access unauthorized
    resources to an error page, not the login page,
    so that the user doesn't have to re-login to access authorized resources?
    2. if a user tries to access an unauthrized resource, shouldn't I be
    getting a 403 {sc_Forbidden} error back?

    Tom,
    Thanks for you comment. I appreciate it.
    I've tried what you suggested but there is still a problem.
    When a user is forwarded to the page specified as a login page in the xml,
    the identity of the user is already lost in the container.
    If you print the current user in the login.jsp by calling
    "Request.getRemoteUser()", you'll get a NULL.
    Although you go back to the JSP page you have already accessed, you have to
    go through the authentication over again.
    Is this correct authentication behavior?
    The following is an abstract of form-based authentication processes from
    Servlet v2.2 spec.
    ============================================================================
    When a user attempts to access a protected web resource, the container
    checks if the user has been
    authenticated. If so, and dependent on the user's authority to access the
    resource, the requested web
    resource is activated and returned. If the user is not authenticated, all of
    the following steps occur:
    1. The login form associated with the security constraint is returned to the
    client. The URL path
    which triggered the authentication is stored by the container.
    2. The client fills out the form, including the username and password
    fields.
    3. The form is posted back to the server.
    4. The container processes the form to authenticate the user. If
    authentication fails, the error page is
    returned.
    5. The authenticated principal is checked to see if it is in an authorized
    role for accessing the origi-nal
    web request.
    6. The client is redirected to the original resource using the original
    stored URL path.
    If the user is not successfully authenticated, the error page is returned to
    the client. It is
    recommended that the error page contains information that allows the user to
    determine that the
    authorization failed.
    ============================================================================
    Although the procedures of form based authentication is well-specified,
    behavior of authorization is quite unclear.
    It doesn't specify what should be done and what happens to the state of the
    current identity in case of authorization failure.
    Is there any workaround solution for this problem?
    Thanks again.

    Sang,
    The behavior you are seeing seems to be correct. You are logged in andtry to
    hit a resource that you do not have access to. So, as far as thecontainer
    knows, it is supposed to give you a chance to reauthenticate as someonewho can
    access the new resource.
    If you have rights to both resources, you will not get prompted again.
    If I understand your desired behavior, you could have login to take place
    "manually" - meaning you will have an explicit login button or link.
    Then could have your login page, defined in the xml, actually be an errorpage
    that would not affect the current identity.
    Hope this helps.

  • Calling a report from a form based on procedure

    I created a form based on a procedure.
    It is a entry form where the user is selecting or enters data then on submit I must display the report based on selected data.
    I know I can simply create a report with all bind variable and do the job.
    My question is what is the syntax to call the report from the procedure for the selected parameters values.
    Thanks
    Lawrence

    If you want to display other HTML page after successful submission, you need to use
    either go or call method.
    I created a form on SCOTT.EMP and a report on SCOTT.EMP and the report accept a parameter for
    the deptno. Here is my on successfull submission code:
    declare
    l_dept number;
    l_url varchar2(2000);
    begin
    l_dept := p_session.get_value_as_number('DEFAULT', 'A_DEPTNO', 1);
    l_url := 'scott.rpt_mask_1.show?p_arg_names=emp.deptno&p_arg_values='&#0124; &#0124;l_dept;
    go(l_url);

    I am going to add a custom button to allow the user to click on the button to Print the form.  I have found the example code of how to do this.
    My question is as follows:
    Is there a command I can add to a custom button to Submit the form after it prints?
    I want the submit to be automatic after they print using my custom "Print" button on the form.
    Thanks so much,

    Here is who you would do this :
    1) Import your PDF in FormsCentral
    2) Save the Submission Enabled Form from the Distribute Tab
    3) Open the PDF in Acrobat XI
    4) File > Save a Copy...
    5) Open the copy in Acrobat XI
    6) Tools > Forms > Edit
    7) Find the Submit button on the form right click on it to show the properties dialog
    8) Go to the Actions Tab
    9) Select "Run a Javascript" and click on the "Edit" button
    10) Add the this.print() javascript line to the button's javascript
    11) Close the dialog with "OK"
    12) Close the property dialog with "Close"
    13) Click on "Close For Editing" (top right corner in Acrobat XI)
    14) File > Save as Other... > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in & save)...
    15) Test your form (make sure it submits to FormsCentral without errors)
    Hope this helps
