Submit As XML Data

Good day,
I have created a form in LiveCycle Designer, on eof the buttons of the form is Submit, I'm integrating the form to a .NET application.
What I nee is to send an XML to a file when the user clicks the submit button, then the .NET application will pick that XML and sends it to the database.
My first challenge is how do I make sure that the xml is sent to a file, I know I'm suppose to write something under the Submit to URL...
Secondly, is it easier for the form to just send the xml straight to the database & let the .NET application pick it up from the database, if so, then how do I do that one.
Thanks

Sending XML via HTTP submit will probably be what you need.  This will have to call a webservice though that would accept the xml and then put it onto your server or wherever you are putting it.  Putting it directly into a database would be done the exact same way.  Call a webservice with submit type of xml and handle the database insert at the web service, then your .NET app would be able to grab it.

  • How to submit pdf xml data to a file server

    Hi, I am hoping someone can help me. I have created a dynamic pdf in livecycle designer ES, which appears as the requester wants it to. I now just need to work out how to collect the submitted data. Is it possible to submit the xml data to a file server? I have succeeded in emailing the data, but each response is separate xml attachment and would then need to collated, etc. It would be preferable to submit the data directly to a file server if this is possible. Even if it submitted into a database or something. From everything I have read so far, it seems that this is not possible, unless I am missing something. As a newbie to this, any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    You can submit the data as XML or URL-encoded data (HTTP POST). In either case you will need to have a server-side process to receive and parse the data stream. The server-side process may be a JSP, a servlet, PHP or any technology that can manage HTTP requests/responses.
    See About submitting data using a button at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/designerHelp/000330.html .

  • Submit as XML Data Issue

    I have a PDF form where I have set up a data connection to pull in data from an XML file to populate drop-down menus.  I'd like to submit the form as an XML file, only when the form is completed and submitted, only the fields that are bound by the data connection are submitted - not the remainder of the fields in the form.  There are roughly 15 other text, radio button, and checkbox fields that don't show up in the xml file generated by the form in Acrobat.  If I remove the data connection, and bindings on those fields, the data is saved in the XML file as needed.  How can I do both - import the data for the dropdowns, and also get all data exported when the form is completed.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Brad

    If you are going to use a dataconnection then all if the data must be combined into a single file. The exception to this is if the data is coming in from a web service. The reson for this is for schema support. The schema creates a single data file and all data must be contained within that data format. Can you combine the two xml data files into one then create your datasource form that?

  • Submit button - XML DATA

    Hi!
    I'm working with Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.x to create forms..
    I need to "catch" the XML Data from a form using a perl script!
    At this moment I don't know how works the submit button internally.
    I figure out that when I create a Submit Button in a form with the XML Data option in the submit format list, and I put one http adress in the Submit to URL field, this is the target that LC Designer needs to know where put the data (in this case, just XML Data).
    Now, to complete the job, I need a script that "catch" the XML Data and in my case, save the XML file in my ISP Server..
    I'm learning perl but I don't know how do this task; could anyone help me?

    Trying some tests related to this Chris and I'm not sure I understand what I'm seeing.
    I wrote some code that takes the form you submit and dumps it back to the browser. I created a form that has three fields:
    TextField1
    Subform1
    TextField2
    TextField3
    So TextField2 is in a subform, TextField1 is on the page. When I type into each field and submit, what I get is:
    TextField1=aa&TextField3=cc
    This is the application/x-www-form-urlencoded body of the POST, which decodes to two fields, TextField1 and TextField3. I'm not sure why TextField2 didn't show up. Any ideas?

  • Submit Button to submit xml data of form to a server folder

    I have Livecycle ES2 vs 9 on Windows 7.
    I have created a form that our users will fill out in adobe reader. I would like them to be able to hit the submit button and it send the xml data to a specified folder on our server.
    I created a submit button from from the generic "button", chose to use as a "submit" control type, then entered the servers url as http://<my server name>:<Open Port>/<Folder name on the server>/
    I chose to submit as XML data
    When I test the button, a box willl pop up saying "Preparing for submit..." then immediatley changes to "Receiving Data".
    The problem is that the box freezes on "receiving Data" but I do not need to receive data, I just need to dump the xml data to the folder on my server.
    I have used a variety of urls with and without the port#, or without the http: but with backslashes but get the error "An error occurred during the submit process. There was a problem connecting to the server."  I feel the latest URL with the port# is at least closer by trying to communicate with the server.
    Not sure what I am missing but I have seen in other forums where some have used PHP code or a servlet but I have no experience with either and the forums did not cover the scripting and where it needs to be placed.
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks

    As far as I know you canit simply write a file to the server using HTTP protocol. If your server was set up as an FTP server you coudl use the FTP protocol (but Acrobat does not support that). You can post the file to a server program (as you mentioned a servlet or JSP or whatever your server supports) and it can in turn write it to your server location.
    Hope that helps

  • XML data connection and XML submit button

    Hi Guys,
    another one that 'should' be straight forward.  I have an xml data connection that is used ot pull in event details (name, location, cost etc) that allows you to select various events, then fill in your contact details and then submit the form.  I need to have the form submit with the data that the user entered into the form as well as their selection of event.  When I set up the email submit button, the XML file attached to the email is actually the XML file that the form pulls the event details from not the data that the user has entered into the form.  Again I reckon this one should be straight forwad to fix, seems like a fairly normal way to operate, but I just cant find a solution.  please help

    >We are letting user know that u have thrown email to someone and we also let user know how is going to contact them.
    This is good, but you cannot stop the email from opening and the user
    needing to send it. This is, as I said, fundamental to security and
    cannot be switched off.
    >I tried using HTTP request but it still opening email option to send mail.
    This suggests you did not do it right, because when you use http, no
    mail is sent locally. Can you describe what you do?
    >
    >I want to do the way we do in the html page using javascript to set action event at click event and send data to specified email id.
    HTML cannot silently send an email either.
    Perhaps you could outline what sort of HTML JavaScript you use, so
    that we can suggest an equivalent if there is one.

  • Catch / know XML Data of PDF Form (without do XML submit)

    Is it possible from within a PDF form, using JS get / know XML data of the current form?
    I need to get the same XML data that would be generated with "export data" feature of Adobe Professional.
    Thx!

    Thanks Paul
    But this is not exactly what I need.
    I need to do something like:
    var xml= xfa.host.exportData("", false);
    and not really export the XML.
    ¿Is possible? ¿any idea?
    Thanks!

  • How to integrate the XML data received via email in to MySQL

    Hi,
    This is JK, my compnay is planning to adopt Adobe Livecycle Barcoded forms technology, We are planning to automate the Weekly report submission of the HR dept of my company, where the various employees from various branches will be submiting their weekly reports thru Barcoded forms via email and the data has to be fed in to a MySQL database for Analysis purpose.
    The problem is, i have designed the form and tested it, when i fill out the form and submit it via email, i get a XML to the mentioneid email id, but is it possible to import the bulk amount of XML data received thru email to the MySQL database without using 3rd party XML Parser.
    Does Adobe Livecycle supports any functionality where these data's after decoding or received thru email can directly be integrated in to MySQL.
    Any Suggestions?
    Regards,
    JK

    One thing that should be clear is that you do not need to purchase Reader Extensions to use Barcode Forms technology. Take a look at the 2 articles at the bottom of http://www.adobe.com/products/server/barcodedpaperforms/ they talk specifically about this issue.
    However, if you do not get RE with your Barcoded Forms license your end users will not be able to save the form off-line or submit electronically (other than data-only by email). They will be able to fill-in and print the forms only.
    By your post it sounds like you are getting Adobe LiveCycle Barcoded Forms and you have also licensed the decoder.
    The decoder itself works with a watched folder mechanism. So what you can do is create a small Java program that simply waits for decoded output from the output directory of the decoder and then populates your MySQL database. The code should be around a day to implement.
    Here is the link to the deployment article that talks about the RE requirement: http://www.adobe.com/products/server/barcodedpaperforms/pdfs/deploying_2d_barcodedpdfform s.pdf
    Your Java will basically do something like this (very incomplete sample)
    public class theThred extends Thread {
    public void start() {
    public void run() {
    while (true) {
    checkTheDirectoryCodeHere();
    gotSomethingWriteItHere();
    sleep(foreSomeNumberOfMilliseconds);
    public void checkTheDirectoryCodeHere() {
    Directory dir = new Directory("thePath");

  • XML data into spreadsheet form?

    I created the form and a customer filled it out and returned it to me using the submit button via email. Is there a way to take the xml data and populate an excel spreadsheet appropriately?
    Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0/ Microsoft XP Pro/ 160 gig harddrive/ 512 RAM
    Thank you for your help!
    -Darren

    Hi Darren,
    Are you looking to automate this?
    You can bring up the form in Acrobat and go file->Form Data -> Create Spreadsheet from data files. You would then select all the files (xml) to put in the spreadsheet.
    Does that help you?

  • Trying to pass xml data to a web service

    I'm working on an Apex application that is required to pass data to a web service for loading into another (non Oracle) system. The web service expects two stings as input, the first string is simply an ID, the second string is an xml document. I generate an xml 'string' using PL/SQL in an on-submit process prior to invoking the web service. If I pass regular text for the second parameter, the web service returns an error message which is stored in the response collection and displayed on the page as expected. When I pass the the xml data, I get a no data found error and the response collection is empty. I have tried this in our development environment on Apex 3.1.2 (database version 10.2). I also tried this on our Apex 4.0.2 sandbox (with the same Oracle 10.2 database). I have found that once I have nested xml, I get the no data found message, if I pass partial xml data, I get the error response from the web service. Perhaps I am not generating the xml correctly to pass to the web service (this only just occurred to me as I write this)? Or is there an issue passing xml data from Apex to the web service? Any help will be greatly appreciated! here is the code I use to generate the xml string:

    I should add that once I have nested tags in the xml, I get the Oracle no data found error ("<header xmlns=""> <stdXmlVer>2.0</stdXmlVer> <sendingUnit>10</sendingUnit> </header>"). I f I do not have nested tags in the xml ("<notification>[email protected]</notification> <creationDate>2011-12-20</creationDate>"), I get the web service response (error).

    Ok, I think I'm getting closer to thinking this all the way through. When I have used clobs in the past, I've always used the DBMS_CLOB package. I use this to create a temp clob and then make the above calls. I had to go find an example in my own code to remember all of this. So, here is another suggestion... feel free to disregard all the previous code snippets..

    end;This code will use the Database to construct your clob and then convert it back to a varchar2 for output to your webservice. This makes more sense to me now and hopefully you can follow what the process is doing.
    You don't technically need the two varchar2(36767) variables. I used two for naming convention clarity sake. You could use just one multipurpose variable instead.
    If you have any questions, just ask. I'll help if I can.

  • Fill in form using XML data source usable in Reader

    I have a simple example of a scenario we need to solve. Different branches will fill out a form (designed in LiveCycle 8) and by entering their branch number static information will be filled in. I want to store the static infomation for all branches in an XML sheet that will be stored on a shared folder on the intranet.
    The problem I have is getting the script to run in Reader. In preview in the Designer and using the import data function of Acrobat Pro it works fine. I think I am missing the script to import the data to work in Reader. I have not been able to find anything in the documentation to point me in the right direction. I have also had a case open with Adobe support for 2 months.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Jeroen,
    to have a user fill in, you first need to create a Web Dynpro application providing the offline form, e.g. through a download - tutorial at http://sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloaditem?rid=/library/uuid/2dd3dbcd-0401-0010-55b8-b10808ff688e - or an e-mail - tutorial at http://sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloaditem?rid=/library/uuid/b040e6cd-0401-0010-268d-f67cf4904358
    On the return trip, the user-entered data is stored in the SAP backend via the Web Dynpro context. (You do not store the raw XML, the data is back-converted by ADS to Java.)
    In the fourth step, you will have to provide a Web Dynpro
    application with an online form, which can be part of the same project, but basically generates the form again for completion.
    If you want to use the same form that was submitted, you have to have your app store the submitted PDF (do not submit only the XML) in the backend (through the WD context), and then call that one up in the online scenario.
    Cheers,
    Markus

  • Problem in importing XML Data In Acrobat - X

    Hello All,
    I have a LiveCycle form where I am embedding a sample XML into it. (No data connection and no binding). After filling the form when the user clicks the submit button before submitting the XML it removes all the nodes of the sample XML that's embedded to it so that the exported data is encapsulated within the field tag/attribute.
    We can again import the submitted XML back into the form to do some  manual editing.It works fine in Acrobat - 9 Pro. But when I try to  import the submitted XML data back into the form in the Acrobat - X it  shows the error : "Could not load data from Text file".It does not give  any error while importing the sample XML into the form. I am totally  confused. What could be the problem here ?
    LiveCycle version - ES 8.2
    Thanks.

  • How to Create a Button for Reader Users to Save XML Data File?

    The "Submit via Email" tries to launching the local email software, like outlook express. But public computer tends to use internet emails.
    I am thinking of creating a button, allowing the reader users to save xml data filled in the form (same as the "submit via email" produces) somewhere.
    anyone has a clue?
    Thanks a lot!

    You could create the shortcut at one machine, then copy it to the target as part of the logon script. Note also that this line contains an error:
    "C:\Users\%userprofile%\Desktop\Org_chart_test.lnk"
    It should read:
    "%userprofile%\Desktop\Org_chart_test.lnk"

  • XML data from Form?!?!

    I've used LD8.0 to create a feedback form for my customers (it's at http://www.raven-multimedia.com/Feedback.pdf for reference). The first time I created it it was fairly large (1.4MB) and when a user clicked the submit-by-email button the data file attached to the message was a very small XML file {which I had no problem importing into my form to get the results}.
    In fiddling with the form to try to make the file online smaller I've done SOMETHING which has resulted in a smaller form (now about 590kb), but when submitted by email the
    entire form
    is attached in PDF format!
    How do I (or is there any way to...) keep the form itself SMALL and make sure that the data file sent to me is XML (thus small) too?!?!
    I'm also interested in making the form as compatible as possible, which means an earlier version of Acrobat, but again run up against the problem that earlier version seems to mean larger file size.
    Any and all help will be appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim 8^O
    PS- Oh, hey, can anyone tell me why I can't import Text data to my form?!?!

    He that can have patience can have what he will.
    The size of the image you embedded is overkill!
    Try resizing the original image to about 100*120 px (not sure about the exact size). Remove the original image, embed the resized one. This way you may save another 400 KBytes. In the image's 'draw'-tab select 'use original size'.
    Also, do not save the image as jpg but gif. You don't need to use jpg as the image does not feature lots of different colors. That one may save you another... 30 KBytes at least.
    You want to send XML data? Follow these steps
    Sending complete PDF on eMail-submit but instead of 'PDF', select 'XML' in the options.

  • Adding a DateTime stamp to XML data file on PDF Form

    I have a PDF form which is submitting data via email.
    I am not requiring a signature.
    Along with the data collected on the form, I'd like the XML data file sent to include a date/time stamp. Roughly, this could be when the "Submit" button was selected.
    I have been able to get the current date/time to display, on the form. However, I cannot get the value displayed on the form to be sent in the dataset.

    I got this to work using the following steps:
    1) create a field (TextField1 in the data example below) on the form for the data/time (this could be a hidden field, if you want). Mine is set to "Calculated-Read Only"
    2) Populate it in its calculate script using:
    this.rawValue = xfa.timeStamp;
    (I could have scripted it to set its value in the Submit button, so the date & time are determined when the button is clicked, instead of when the form is opened).
    3) Make sure to set the field's binding to "normal" instead of "none" - this ensures that the field's value is part of the submitted XML data file. This is the key step.
    When I click the email submit button, I get the following XML Data;
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <form1
    ><TextField1
    >2008-03-03T16:01:59Z</TextField1
    ><TextField2
    >some text</TextField2
    ></form1
