Submit button via email isn't working as expected
I've read everything I can find and tried all the suggestions. I have a fairly simple form I'd like to post on a community council site for the community members to complete online then submit or print to fax or mail. The Submit button returns an error "This operation is not permitted." I am using mailto:[email protected] and have it set to send the etire PDF.
This is true for both Acrobat Pro X and 9. I may just be tired, but I just can't see what i'm doing wrong.
Suggestions?
That tends to indicate that the document is not Reader-enabled, which it needs to beif you want Reader to send the entire PDF. To Reader-enable with Acrobat 10, select: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features

Hi - I created a form in Adobe Livecycle and have a button on it to send the form via email. It worked, but only for those with PC. However, I could not get it to work with Apple loaded with Yosemite even with reader installed . Is there a way i can make it work for apple / Mac? It worked fine on a mac using Mountain Lion and reader

Form for my visitors to fill them out and submit them via email
Hello, I need to have several forms in my website and allow my visitors to fill them out and submit them via email, can I use FormCentral?
This is my website:
http://aiiav.org/cemetary/forms/
Thank you
Juan PulidoHi;
You could certainly use FormsCentral.
FormsCentral allows you to easily create forms that you can distribute either using a web form with a "Submit" button that sends the data back to FormsCentral and is available in your account for you to view and analyze, or you can also distribute the form as a PDF. The PDF can have a FormsCentral "Submit" button that (same as with the web form) sends the data back to FormsCentral, or can be saved without a Submit button allowing you to add your own Submit button using Acrobat which could be an "Email" submit button (which would email you the form data or the entire PDF).
If you chose "web forms" you could embed the form into your website for users to fill out right there and submit without having to send via email. You could have links to each embedded form on your site.
Here is an overview of FormsCentral, I'd be happy to answer any follow up questions: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1413
One note if you were to use PDF - your current PDF forms are set to open in the web browser. If you used FormsCentral PDF forms you would want to have a link that downloads the PDF to the users computer so they can fill out in Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader, filling out in the web browser, or with any other PDF viewer does not work correctly and is not supported. You would want to call that out on the download page to ensure users fill out in Adobe Reader.
Thanks,

I am trying to fill in a PDF form online- there should be a submit button but it isn't showing. My partner has an identical Mac and can see the button when he opens the same page- what do I change in my systen system preferences to resolve this?
You and your partner might have different browsers, different versions of the same browser, or most likely a fervent version of the PDF plug-in.
See if just clicking on the Enter key sends the form in. -
My email isn't working on iOS 7, it is saying that my password is wrong when it is correct, I retype it in settings and try again it still says it is wrong, although I can revive emails but when I do I get three of the same thing and I can't send any emails, this all started when I downloaded iOS 7.
Hello,
Actually i also had changed my gmail password like to the above. Andyour recommendation seems to be the same to rebooting iPod touch, which didn't work for me when i had the same gmail problem with the incorrect password error in the continuous manner. However the problem has gone when i removed the gmail account so as to create the same one.
Thanks

Submit PDF via email custom button
I followed the instructions in LiveCycle guide but it is not working completely. I set up a custom button and followed the instructions for Submitting a pdf via email. When I click on the submit button, it pulls the pdf into an email but has left off the email address and the subject.
The format I used was mailto:[email protected]?subject=blah blah blah.Thank you. I finally got it to work!

Using the Submit button to Email
I was previously using Frontpage and I have just recently
started using DW so a lot of this is still new to me. I did get the
DW8 for dummies book which is helping a lot, although I know being
a member on a forum like this will help much more. So any help is
very much appreciated.
I am new to this site and did a quick search but I wasn't
able to find what I was looking for.
I am basically planning on creating an order form using basic
radio buttons and name, address, contact info, etc... fields.
I wanted to have a button on the batton (like the submit
button) that a customer could click on after filling out the
specific fields and then the whole page/order form (with its
contents) would be emailed to me.
Could the "Submit" be used to do this? I know in the DW 8 for
Dummies book it mentions that the Submit button is for credit card
processing companies to send the info and then come back with the
results, but I just want it to email the completed page/order form
so the credit card can be processed in the office.> Why isn't it as simple as entering in a
"mailto:[email protected]" type of
> thing? Or is it?
It is that simple. However, it is very unreliable. For it to
work, the
visitor filling out the form has to have a properly
configured email client,
that works with the webpage form. That leaves out people
using webmail
services and those using public computers. And- most
computers will put up
a warning screen that the form data is being sent by an
insecure method and
give the person a choice to send or cancel.

> Everything I seem to read talks about downloading a
specific cgi-bin type of

Setting up a form processing script can be very simple.
First step- check your hosting's support/FAQ section for info
about forms
and scripts.
if your hosting has a control panel or CPanel, look there for
a
pre-installed script and instructions on using it.
The free kaosmailer extension at
http://kaosweaver.com will create
the
scripting for you, within dreamweaver, for your choice of
asp/php/coldfusion. (pick the one your hosting supports)
A php script is phpformmail at
http://boaddrink.com
An asp script is at
http://www.brainjar.com/asp/formmail/
A cgi/Perl script would be at
http://nms-cgi.sourceforge.net
(but it would
be my last choice, a php script would be far easier to set
up)
Any further specifics totally depend on what scripting method
you can use on
this hosting, and on what script you want to use. -
How can I set the submit button to email only certain pages of the pdf not the entire pdf?
We have a pdf that is a hundred pages or so where each page is an individual product that the customer can select for purchase. At the end of the pdf is an order form. We want to be able to email just the few pages which are the form as a pdf. The default function of the submit button is to email back the entire pdf. As there any way to just select whcih pages would be submitted?
The problem is for people not using an email client like Outlook. In the version of Reader my boss was using, you had to save the FDF file to your hard disk and then open your browser to go to your web based email and write an email and attach the file. In the newest version of Reader it will open a browser window and create a draft for you, but he thought it was to much work if people were using older versions of Reader. He was really looking for something straightforward where all they had to do is push a button and it was submitted.

Submit form by email - doesn't work
You create a form using the wizard, with prominent buttons to print and email the completed form as an attachment.
When the recipient has completed the form and used the button to submit/return it by email the attachment is not a modified/completed PDF but an XML file.
Some people may want an XML file because they are handling numerous returns for input to a data table. I don't. I expect the default for this feature to be a completed PDF. But this does not appear to be an option.
I have looked in vain for some way to select a Property 'Submit As' which offers the PDF option.
There are others in the forums bemused by this failure in the programming. Adobe, please tell us of a solution or fix, or at least improve the onscreen information to reduce expectations and warn users to save and attach completed forms manually. Better still, fix it with a Submit As PDF option.
ThanksRhonda,
You'll have to forgive my ignorance, but I am unfamiliar with the Web Premium CS3 tool of which you speak. Reader Extensions is a feature that can be added to the LiveCycle ES installation at a give location. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong here, but I believe you need LiveCycle ES in order to reader extend PDF forms.
Any forms that are developed in designer, no matter how sophisticated they may be (dynamic in nature, with all kinds of business logic goodness built in, and buttons to do everything from print to submit via email), will just view as a static PDF with the free reader tool (ver 6.0, 7.2, 8.0, etc...). Reader extending a PDF file is an extra step that is done after the form has been completed (completion of development). LiveCycle ES allows for a user to perform many of the functions that Acrobat allows (filling in of forms, and submitting them) with just the free Reader client being loaded on the end users machine. Of course the form must be filled in through the LiveCycle workspace tool, and would appear to be a static PDF file if the form was downloaded and viewed with Reader outside of the workspace tool. Again, the exception to this being if the PDF has been Reader Extended. -
I have searched the forum (my apologies if I missed the
correct solution) and have done my fair share of Googling on this
topic to no avail.
Is there a "simple" solution to setting up a submit button to
send a form to email.
I have the action of the form as mailto:myemailaddress.com
Method set to "Get"
Enctype set to "text/plain"
When I test to submit button it provides a popup window with
a warning indicating the senders email address will be divulged. I
click OK and a new window popsup for my yahoo sign in. I suppose
this would happen as the default email interface used. However, the
form isn't sent.
Any solutions would be very helpful. Thanks
P.S. I use DW 8This is posted here 2-5 times a week -
There are only two ways to process form data -
1. Use mailto:[email protected] as the action of the form
2. Use a server-side scripting method to a) harvest the
form's data, b)
process it in some manner, e.g., enter it into a database, c)
formulate and
send an email to one or more email recipients, and d)
redirect the visitor
to some ending page
Method 1 is quite simple, and is also the least reliable. It
depends both
on your visitor having an email client already installed on
their computer -
this eliminates public computers, or home users without email
clients
installed (more and more it seems) - and on the installed
email client
responding to
the mailto call. It is not possible to use this method *and*
send the
visitor to a
thank you page as well.
Method 2a is the preferred method, since it eliminates the
problems of
method
1, but it means that you have to grapple with
server-scripting somehow (ASP,
CF, PHP, perl, etc.).
Method 2b would be to use some third-party form processing,
like
http://www.bebosoft.com/products/formstogo/,
or if your server supports PHP,
you could investigate
http://www.geekministry.com/formbuilder/,
a very nice
product by a frequent poster here.
You would have to decide which of these methods is best for
your needs,
but if it's Method 2a, then start by asking your host what
they provide for
form
processing. If it's 2b, then read their FAQ/instructions
carefully.

"send via email" STILL not working
Hi community - I have seen this question asked several times but none of the answers given seem to apply to me.
I am working in a Pages document. I want to send this document as a Word file to someone else. I go to the Share menu, click Word under the "send via email" header, and then...nothing happens. No email app opens, no error message appears, nothing.
There are no slashes or unfamiliar characters in the file name. Both Gmail and the OS mail app are set up on my computer. What am I missing? I'm working on a brand new 13-inch MacBook Pro with a version of Pages just purchased from the app store.
And please don't recommend just exporting it as a Word doc and then emailing the file - I know I can do that already, but the point is this very important feature isn't working.
Thanks for the help - much appreciated! You would get the beep sound if you click on the greyed down "Send via Email". You have to choose which kind of document you want to send. But then again if it worked for you in the new account it can't be that giving you a problem.
I once had a problem using Pages. It worked fine in another user account but not in my original. Deleting the plist file didn't help, maintenace didn't help. Finally I uninstalled Pages/iWork 09 using Yvan's script from here. Then I installed my MacOS system (Snow Leopard) on top of what I had. Since the Snow Leopard system you can install a system again without erazing the hard disk. You might though check that anything important to you is saved on another disk or stick. Remeber to do the updates for the system
I did the system updates and restarted the computer. Installed iWork. I have the iWork DVD. And I did the software updates too. Then Pages worked again!
