Submitting data from PDF vs. HTML

I have a PDF form rendered from LC Forms that I have been using for a while. It has a submit button on it that has been set to submit the form field data as XML Data. This has been working fine. I now have saved the form as an XDP and am rendering it with LC Forms as HTML (instead of a PDF). The submit button is still set to submit data as XML, but the submitted data now comes back as POST data (see example below). Any ideas what I can do about this? I really need the data to still be submitted as XML data as it was when the form was a PDF.

I just answered my own question. Apparently I just have to base64 decode the FSAPPLICATIONDATA_ post data parameter.

Help with exporting data from pdf form

I have about 100 pdf forms that I created in adobe forms central and distributed as a pdf form (rather than on the web). I am trying to export the data into a spreadsheet but when I export it, the fields are all jumbled in the csv file, as in they are not in the same order. I need to export the data all together so I'm going to the forms menu and selecting "manage form data" and then selecting "merge data files into spreadsheet". I tried exporting a single file but that gave me something really weird.
Please help, I have a deadline next week to analyze this data and can't make sense of it once it is exported to a spreadsheet.

You can share your form by doing the following:
1. Click on the “Share” icon on the bottom left corner.
2. Click on “Add Collaborator” on the popup menu.
3. Enter [email protected] under “People to share with”.
4. Set subject to "Export data from pdf form"
5. Click the “Share” button on the bottom right of the dialog.

Linking data from PDF form into Indesign CS6

Hello all,
I'll be working on a magazine which has a large section of day camps technical descriptions :
name, contact info, location, short introduction text, activities icons (they have to choose up to 5 icons from a total of 12)
Is it possible to link data from a fillable PDF into predetermined and prestyled text boxes in Indesign CS6?
Would it be necessary to export in an Excel sheet prior?
What would be the best trick in order for the icons to place themselves automatically, if possible?

When placing a PDF into InDesign, it's a flat piece of art for each page included. There's no way to manipulate form fields or work with links or anything like that.
The data from the form would have to be collected and converted into an Excel file for placing into InDesign. (Collecting data from PDF forms and converting the Excel format can be done in Acrobat Pro.)

Copy Data From PDF

I having an WD JAVA application where a filled in Interactive PDF Form is upoaded through File Upload UI.
In the appliocation, there is a local node (Cardinality = 1:1) where the Data from PDF has to be copied to that.
Please let us know how to do that without parsing.

Hi,
If you want to get the data from PDF form without parsing you need to do binding of all the fields of addobe form to webdynpro context.
You must be having a application for saving the pdf form to your system so just open the form in Interactive form Ui element and after selecting the UI element from adobe form go to binding tab under object tab. Bind the field with the proper context in default binding section. But first make sure that your dataSource property of the Interactive form element is bind with the datanode.
In that way after uploading the form data will come to webdynpro context automatically.

they are both right as they both work. Easy huh?
You might argue that if you have to set a lot of fields, use the entity as otherwise you get a method with a gigantic amount of parameters.

reading from a file is always the same. using the same strategy used for a .txt will allow you to read a .pdf file.
Offcourse in itself it will be useless becuase pdf files have a special internal structure.
html files are identical to txt files.
What are you trying to accomplisch with the files you are reading ?

How to get data from PDF form?

PDF forms can send data in url like GET or POST method. Is it possible to get data from url, like in PHP http://sever/file.php?item1=value1&item2=value2&item3=value3
In APEX url have specific construction and I don't know how to get value of items (1...3)
Please let me help to find simple method of geting data from URL.

How to get it from PDF is another matter...
I'm working on an app that downloads PDFs with a Large amount of data as a blob, takes that blob and changes it to XML, then goes through the xml to validate each section of data and then add it into the schema that my apex app is referencing....
I didn't write the original code but I do know that it isn't a quick thing to implement and includes using some uploading some java jar files to your schema and writing some custom java code.
Someone else may be able to help with grabbing PDF data into the URL for the amounts of data you want to pass to apex.

The tag based search of an open file is where I am not able to get any head way. Any one has done this?

You'll need to use a regular expression for that. CF supports regular expressions with the REFind, REFindNoCase and REReplace functions. Here's an example of using regular expressions to capture the value within an HTML tag:

Extracting data From PDF to Excel

I have inherited a large library of PDF invoices which I need to extract data from into excell - or some other spreadsheet. The other option is to open up thousands of pdf documents and run the numbers by hand which is just dumb. I am new to acrobat and an entire afternoon of trial by fire / google hasn't gotten me very far - so even pointers in the right direction are appriciated.
Ideally I would like to tell Acrobat what data is important on each document (can I use the form tool to do this?), extract the data from the relevant files (batch processing tool I presume?), compile the data and extract it to a CSV.
It looks like the functionality is here I am just unsure how it all needs to fit together. Any Suggestions?

There is software out there that will convert PDFs to excel... look for ABBYY or Able to extract... If you have a lot of files that are the same merge them together before using the software. Remember that if the data is created from a scanned image then the results will only be as good as the ability of the OCR engine contained in the software. You can play with the software to create tables, etc...

First af all create a node pdfdata, bind that node to datasource property of the form.
and another independent attribute of type binary, bind that attribute to pdfsource property of the form.
place a button on your webdynpro screen, and on its click action extract the data from that node's attributes. For eg.
wdContext.currentpdfdataElement().getEmployeeNum();
where pdfdata is the node binded to the data source property, EmployeeNum is the attribute of that node also placed on the form and binded to it..

I am using Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 to create a bunch of survey questionnaires for respondents to fill out using an off-line computer. I used check boxes and radio buttons to set up the forms and assign output values. However, I couldn't figure out how to export the response values into one single file (preferably .csv). So, how do I get data from fdf to csv?
I have participants coming in to fill out the questionnaire in my lab and we save their files. For example, for participant #001, the PDF file was saved as Questionnaire_001, and participant #002 as Questionnaire_002, and etc. If say I have 50 participants I will have 50 PDF files stored in the computer. This is the method used by the guy worked here before me and he somehow was able to extract data from those saved files.
I know in the Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 I can get fdf file by going Advanced--> Forms--> Export Forms Data. But how do I get a csv file that has all 50 people's responses, with each column a response field (Q1, Q2, Q3, and etc) and each row a participant?

Looking for some code to get me started doing: 1) moving through subdirectories 2) extracting data from a PDF form to a text file (CSV)
We need to move through 100's of directories and extract PDF form data.
Fields are the same but files have different names; in all these files is a form page with the same field structure.
In other words; we keep track of jobs for hundreds of customers using a
pdf in hundreds of folders ( folder and file names reflect the customer name( I did not, BTW, design such a silly way of tracking jobs) )
