Subscribe to... Portlet
Can someone please direct me to a Portlet that will allow a User to Subscribe to Change Alert emails when there is an update to a subject on (part of) a page.
I'll settle for changes to a page, but we now have more than one subject on a page and would like to keep it that way awhile.
Thank you,
Corona
Thank you, this is close, but unless I am misunderstanding, this shows notifications but doesn't collect notification instructions. - But I will spend more time with it in case I'm missing something. (I am very new.)

Unable to pass parameter value from a Task flow to a Portlet
Hi All,
I'm using Jdev 11.1.1.6.0 and created a simple ADF application with one Taskflow which contains one JSF page to display the User details from the default LDAP configured within the Integrated Weblogic Server. The Taskflow have one Parameter to accept the User Email Id as input. Based on the given input value, we will fetch the User details from Weblogic server and display in the JSF Page. I created a portlet out of Taskflow by "Create Portlet Entry" and deployed it onto Integrated Weblogic server.
Portlet works well when executed standalone for the given User Email Id values as input.
Then I created a webcenter Application, On a page, there is a task flow that contains a form with one input text field and one Submit button, and a portlet (that displays the User details from LDAP) that listens for user input from the form. Clicking the Submit button sends the user entered texts to the listening portlet. This is a combination of contextual events established by the producer (task flow) and the wiring of the portlet based parameters from within the consuming page definition file.
The taskflow page which contains the form with Submit button, within the page defintion file contains an event binding (submitEventBinding) and a contextual based event (submitEvent). This event is tied to the ActionListener of the commandButton.
After added both the task flow and the portlet onto a page, I have subscribed to the contextual event of the task flow, and completed the wiring of the Taskflow and Portlet events together.
But in the Form, when I enter the User Email Id in the input filed and click the Submit button, I'm getting the below error -

HELP --- Error while adding Portlets to the Page. (WWC-44012)
Hi all,
I have a pl/sql portlet. It compiles fine and shows up perfectly in portlet repository. But when i add this to the page, I get following error
Error while adding Portlets to the Page. (WWC-44012)
An unexpected error occurred: User-Defined Exception (WWC-43000)
An unexpected error occurred: User-Defined Exception (WWC-43000)
An unexpected error occurred: User-Defined Exception (WWC-51004)
(WWC-00000)
I checked the portlet specification file (.pks) and body file (.pkb) for any mistakes but they seems fine.
Does anyone know what can cause this error?
Any pointers in this regards will be highly appreciated.
Thanks!!!
RajeshRajesh,
Could you provide some more details about your code? I will try to look into possible causes of the error. One thing you may try is subscribing to the Knowledge Exchange on http://portalcenter.oracle.com. Then you could post your code in your community folder and everyone would be able to test it out.
Of course, this means you must be willing to share your code with everyone.

Registering Discoverer Portlet Provider with JDeveloper WebCenter
Is it possible to register DPP with JDeveloper? What kind of portlet producer is DPP, WSRP or Oracle PDK? Can anyone tell me the specific steps (i.e., what to fill in for the URL, subscriber ID, etc.)?
Thanks,
-warrenYou might want to ask this on the Discoverer forum.
It depends on the type of portlet DPP is - JDeveloper can register both WSRP and PDK portlets. -
Subscribe and Notification via email
We would like to use to subscribe mechanism in Oracle Portal. Instead of displaying the new items in a portlet, we wish to notifiy daily via email.
Has somebody done something similar and can provide the source code?
regards, AndréHi, André
We have the same case, but I have no solution for the moment.
I think I'll use a triger on the table portal.wwv_things, but it will be difficult to put a filter on the right items.

Hi, Sriram. Which log file should I look to? Also, would it be possible that my firewall is blocking it? Do you know which port should I open for excite portlet ?
Thanks for your help.

hi,
The excite portlets should be working fine without any problem. Can you specify, whats the error message you receive in your log file ?

How can I display weather for specific cities in my portlet?
nullYou could look at the URLs that other portals use (or www.weather.com) & then use URL services to clip the appropiate content from those pages.
Alternatively, you need to find a content provider who provides this information and subscribe to their services. Once you are a subscriber, they should be able to give you URLs to get specific info. -
Declaring Customizable reports as a portlet
Hi all,
After creating a Customizable report I declared it as a portlet;Later the same was added to a Portal page. The problem faced is that the user(for whom the page is declared as a home page) on clicking the customize link and selecting a value for the report is unable to see the report; message stating that "No row returned" is displayed.
The catch here is that the same report is visible to Portal30 user when he runs it as a customizable report.Tried all possible workards including changing the privileges as required but all seemed to be futile.
Any info on the same would be welcome.
Regds.
Kiran.Hi,
Which version of portal is it? Have you enabled hosting on your portal? If hosting is enabled only those records for the
subscriber will be visible. Please check the caching values of the page as well.
Thanks,

Multiple portlet instances with public portlet parameter.
If I have a java Portlet with a public portlet parameter, and I put two portlet instance (same portlet) on the same page.
Can page designer assign different value for the public portlet parameter of different portlet instance?
Or the question is:
Is public portlet parameter per portlet definition, or per portlet instance?Hi Derek,
Let me give it shot. Gurus correct me if I am wrong!!
In an hosted environment we can have multiple Organizations or Organization units that may be catered with a single Oracle9iAS Portal instance. In which case each of these Organizations / Organization units will be Subscribers to the Oracle9iAS Portal and will have an unique Subscriber ID. A company name is a part of the Subscriber profile so a subscriber has a Company that it belongs to. So if the Marketing dept. of a 'X' company is a subscriber to Oracle9iAS Portal, then this Subscriber will have a Subscriber ID associated to it and the Company that he belongs to is 'X'. So we can have a Company who has one or more subscribers to Oracle9iAS Portal.
The distinguished name, or DN, is the identifier for unambiguously referring to a particular entry in the directory. The DN is formed by sequentially connecting all
the individual names of the parent entries of the node, back to the root.
I hope this helps, please get back in case you have any questions.
Take care,
Manoj -

Hello,I would like to create a new SavedSearchPortlet with a different look and feel. According to the documentation, the best way to do that should consist in creating a new view. I created a new project with a new class named CustomSavedSearchPorletView and the code corresponds to the SavedSearchPortletView except these few lines:* publicstaticreadonlyString STR_MVC_CLASS_NAME = "CustomSavedSearchPortlet";* publicoverrideObject Create() { returnnewCustomSavedSearchPortletView(); }* and the constructor
Then I want to create my new intrinsic portlet web service through the admin portal pages but when I submit the portlet class indentifier (CustomSavedSearchPortlet), the following message appears:You must specify a valid Portlet class identifierMy dll seems correctly loaded, I added a breakpoint to my constuctor that I accessed when I submit the class identifier, but after passing the constructor passed, the error is generated. How could I define a valid portlet class identifier ? What does it mean ?
Thanks in advance,ChristianHello Chris,
I still have an issue with this customization. I succeeded in creating the view, the web service and the portlet. I have now a snapshot query content correctly displayed in my UI customized intrinsic portlet. I reused the model and the control of the UI Source Code 5.0.4 (SavedSearchPortletModel, SavedSearchPortletControl). But if I click on the "more" link or if I click on the "Subscribe to e-mail" button, the following error message is displayed:The server has experienced an error. Try again, or contact your Portal administrator if you continue experiencing problems.
When I checked the errors displayed in the PTSpy tool, the following error message is displayed:25 06-30 18:49:44 Error UI Infrastructure 4524 2432 com.plumtree.uiinfrastructure.activityspace.Interpreter.HandleRequest() Unable to proccess request._System.InvalidCastException_ at ilog.corporate.eis.CustomSavedSearchPortletControl.PerformRepostAction(Int32 nAction, XPHashtable htFormData) at com.plumtree.portalpages.browsing.myportal.IntrinsicPortletsRepostControl.PerformAction(Int32 _nAction) in C:\Portal\Development\Portal504UISourceCode\UI Source Code\portalpages\dotnet\prod\src\com\plumtree\portalpages\browsing\myportal\IntrinsicPortletsRepostControl.cs:line 45 at com.plumtree.uiinfrastructure.form.RepostControl.CheckActionSecurityAndExecute(XPHashtable arguments) at com.plumtree.uiinfrastructure.activityspace.Interpreter.HandleRequest(IXPRequest request, IXPResponse response, ISessionManager session, IApplication application)
It seems my issue comes from my SavedSearchPortletControl class. Do you know what could be wrong in my methodology?
Thanks in advance,Christian
