Subscribing to iCal calendars

MacOS X 10.7.2 + iCloud.  Apple maintains a list of calendars that you can subscribe to using the iCal calendar app.  I've been trying to subscribe to the US Holiday Calendar in iCloud  but every time I do that iCloud eventually deletes it.  If I use MobileMe, I get two copies of everything in the calendar.
How can I fix this?

Greetings,
This question would probably be best posted in the MobileMe or iPad or iPhone forum as you are not using the iCal application on a Mac.
That said let me take a crack at your question:
__MobileMe does not have an interface to subscribe to published calendars.
__iPhone -- Go to Settings > Mail/Contacts/Calendars/ > Add Account > Other > Add Subscribed Calendar
__iPad -- Same as iPhone give or take. Search for "subscribe" in the iPad manual: http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPad_UserGuide.pdf
Hope that helps.

  • Changing the Color of a subscribed iCal calendar

Is there any way to change the color of an iCal calendar that I subscribe to?  The iCal subscription is from another Mac User (iCloud) who published the calendar using a color that I use for my calendar and I'd rather change hers (on my Mac) than change mine.
Doing a "get info" shows the color but it's 'grey'd out' so I can't change it.
    Thanks

I can't tell you why this is happening, but I can tell you that I admin many different iCloud users. Some subscribed calendars' colors can be changed in iCal, some are greyed out. It can't make any sense of it yet. However, If you want to change the colors of these calendars, you may do so by logging into your account in iCloud. Get to the calendars and hit EDIT. You will see colored dots next to each calendar. You can then change the color there. Log out and refresh in ical. The colors will (eventualy) be changed. Hope this helps.

  • When I subscribe to a calendar it doesn't show events in my ical even though it is refreshed

When I subscribe to a calendar it doesn't show events in my ical even though it is refreshed & is linked to iCloud - any ideas please?

Is the calendar checked in the list of calendars in the popup menu in the upper left corner?

Instead of using the Apple supplied Jewish Holiday Calendar, try http://www.hebcal.com/ical/

  • Can Blackberry users subscribe to published iCal calendar?

I have published an iCal calendar to my MobileMe account. Of course, doing so generates a link which allows Mac/iPhone users to subscribe by clicking the link. PC users can subscribe to it through Outlook by clicking the link, and so forth.
There has to be a way to have BB users to subscribe to the calendar and get updates in real time like iPhone users, isn't there?
Just want to make a calendar available to parents on a sports team... thanks in advance for any advice.

    Greetings,
I'm afraid I am not a Blackberry user myself so I can't answer (although perhaps someone else in this forum is a RIM user and will have some additional insight for you).
What I can tell you is:
iCal creates a "webcal" publication on the MobileMe server. Any program / device that supports the webcal standard (iCal, iPhone, iPod, Outlook on Windows, etc.) should be able to subscribe to that link.
Your question really is "Does Blackberry support the webcal standard and if so, how do I add a webcal link to a Blackberry?" That question might be better asked of Blackberry users or RIM, the company that makes Blackberry. As they are the people that use Blackberrys / the company that makes the product, they would know the answer.

  • 2 iPhones / 2 iCal Calendars : how to only subscribe to 1 each?

My wife and I both keep our lives organized via iCal.
    We both have iPhones.
So we BOTH get each other's alerts.
Is there a way to just "subscribe" to individual calendars? Is it something simple that I'm just overlooking?

Try using BusySync. It's not free, but I find it well worth the money. It syncs up Google calendars as well as your local home networked calendars. Allows you to subscribe, share and publish whatever makes sense and is very easy to set up.
I'm not connected in any way with the company, just a happy customer.

  • Cannot subscribe to iCal server calendars

    HI all,
This issue is driving me crazy
I have setup this OS X 10.6.4 server.  DNS is good.  OD is good and Kerberos is started and the DNS name is in caps.
I can publish calendars but I cannot subscribe to any calendar that is published.
Can anyone give some additional insight as the the cause?

    Hi NorrComm,
Can you provide a link to a published calendar? With port forwarding enabled that should generate the same error externally as well as internally. Can you visit the address in safari to check whether the studio account can be accessed. It could be a permissions issue.
Why do you want to publish a calendar? You could consider to delegate permissions for the account Studio to other users without write access. That should work as well.
Furthermore upgrade your server to the latest OSX build 10.6.8, so any bugs or other known issues with previous releases of OSX are fixed.
    Goodluck!

  • ICloud subscribed iCal calendar returns after deletion

I subscribed to a calendar on my iPad, saved in iCloud. I delete it on the iPad, but it returns! I think I neeed to delete it from my iCloud storage but can't figure out how to do that. Advice please?

In your iPhone (or iPad) go to settings/general settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars and at the top under "Accounts" you will see "Subscribed Calenars" (not in the calendar section, above that at the top of the page)... click on the calendar you want to delete and do so from there.

  • How can I find the URL for an iCal calendar in iCloud so I can make a link to it on a web page.

I have a single iCal calendar that I want people to access through my webpage.  How can I find the URL so that they can view the calendar without having to subscribe to it.  I converted to iCloud from .Mac and I can see that changes to this calendar are not showing up.

Mmmh.. i see... I don't know wether it is possible for people just check calendars without subscribing to them... I have been sharing some calendars in my website (maybe you can have a look at it in order to check wether it could be a possible solution for you)

  • Can I sync a single iCal calendar only and not all my calendars?

I use iCal at work and at home. I have two calendars: work and family. I use my .Mac account to sync my two calendars between my home computer and work computer. While at work today I subscribed to several of my employees' iCal calendars so that we could coordinate our schedules. However, now those employee calendars are being sync'd to my home iCal.
Is there a way to continue using my .Mac account to sync my home and work calendars but not those of my employees??? Thanks in advance!
    Joe

Thanks for the thought. I just tried that and when I select .Mac in iSync it tells me I no longer use iSync to sync and it opens the .Mac preferences window. The .Mac preferences do not seem to allow specific calendars - just check whether you want "calendars" to sync....
    Is there another way?

  • ICal calendars displaying in iCloud

I subscribed to an iCal calendar on a high school sports schedule website.  I have iCloud for iCal tunred on. The events showed up in iCal on my Mac, iPhone, and Ipad as they should.  However, when I logged into iCloud they were not displayed.  Obviously iCloud is workng and knows about the events.  However, subscribed calendars are not listed with the rest of the calendars on the selection list in iCloud, so I can't check them and have them displayed in the iCloud calendar.  Do I have that right? Why not?

Sounds like I have the same or a similar problem.  Since I migrated to iCloud, all is well with my contacts, calendars, etc. on my Mac, my iPod Touch, my MacBook, etc. --- but when I went to the iCloud site today, and chose "calendar", everything there is blank.  And yes, in iCal preferences, all my calendars show as "iCloud" calendars --- but in iCloud (the site) itself, there is nothing there that can be seen.  To add to the mystery, I do not have this problem with contacts: all of them are visible when I go to the iCal site.
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Cant delete iCal calendar

I subscribed to a calendar a couple years ago but it is no longer relevant and I want to delete it from my list of calendars in iCal. I keep trying to delete it, but after a couple of minutes it reappears. How can I really delete this calendar? Is there a way to "unsubscribe" from subscribed calendars, other than the "delete" function? If I have calendars connected with my iPone via iCloud, do I have to delete it on both devices?

    Hey FH678,
Thanks for the question. Let’s check to see where this subscribed calendar is located. To do so, right click on the calendar name in the sidebar, and choose “Get Info”:
If the “Location” of the calendar is set to something other than “On my Mac”, go ahead and change it. Once the subscribed calendar is stored locally on your Mac, quit and reopen the Calendar application and attempt to Delete the calendar once more.

  • How do I unsubscribe from an ical calendar

I just subscribed as an experiment to an ical calendar. I can find no information anywhere(!) in ical help or (so far) online as to how to unsubscribe. Please help

Here's what I've done when i found that the subscribed calendar had too many entries, or had so many old one I didn't want. You can't change them in a subscribed calendar. So,
Select the calendar, choose File>Export... and save somewhere.
    Delete the subscribed calendar.
Create a new calendar of similar name.
File>Import... and select the previously exported calendar, choosing to import to your newly created calendar.
Now you have all the events in the previously subscribed calendar, and they're editable. Just click on the list button, deselect all calendars but the new one, and delete the entries you don't want.
Sounds like it takes a while, but it really takes only a minute or so to do.

I am having the same issue, as is my husband and a friend.  We have both been subscribers to this calendar for several years and as of Jan 1 it no longer populates iCal.  I have subscribed to it again but, while it shows up in subscribed calendars it still does not populate.  I would appreciate some help.
