Subtle trap I fell into with arrays in LabVIEW FPGA
Hi
Just reporting a problem I made for myself, where the LabVIEW IDE would allow me start FPGA compilation, but the Xilinx compiler would return an error.
I had created a FOR loop with 2 auto-indexed input arrays. One was a fixed length - no problem. The other was an output array from the FOR loop looped back through a feedback node as an input to the same FOR loop. Inspecting the wire it was not of fixed length. From the Xilinx error message, I think the array was being used before being instantiated - no default value.
The error had the phrase "formal <array_in> has no actual or default value".
The solution was to explicitly index the second array inside the FOR loop with 'index array'. Defining the number of iterations of the FOR may also have worked, and would save on FPGA resources.
Hopefully this helps someone in the future,
Cheers
LV 2013 Full dev system v13.0, Win XP SP3, FPGA 2013
That diagram is almost exactly right. Sorry I can neither extract nor publish a clip.
Only differences are:
- the input array is fixed size, 2 elements, FXP <+/-, 16, 2>
- the output and feedback arrays are FXP <+/-, 18, 4>
- the input array sits within the while loop
Almost certainly not important but:
- In place of the increment & decrement blocks there are subVIs.
- these also have boolean controls on/off controls via a loop tunnel.
- the feedback node points the other way
- the feedback node implementation was set to 'auto'

Threshold and interpolate array in LabVIEW FPGA
Hi,
It's a classical one, but I don't find an answer that fit my problem :
I want to threshold an array with a 4-20 mA analog input then interpolate an other array with the result of the threshold.
The result of the interpolation is then sent to an 4-20 mA analog output.
Very simple ! Just like that :
But I want to do that in LabVIEW FPGA on a cRIO 9074....and these functions don't exist in LabVIEW FPGA.
I failed to use LUT, so I need some help...
The 4-20 mA modules give/need a single-precision floating point format.
Thanks,I have already told you the solution: use the lookup table Express VI (which is implemented as a memory block). Why does this not work for you?
The lookup table express VI includes interpolation. There is no need for thresholding. In fact, in your original example, there is also no need for thresholding. You can combine the two arrays into an array of 2-element clusters, which makes it effectively a lookup table, and wire that to the interpolate function alone.
If you have enough RAM available on the FPGA, you can also avoid interpolation by creating a lookup table large enough to hold every possible input value (and corresponding output). Since you are dealing with a 16-bit input, there are only 65536 possible values. I realized I provided the wrong numbers in my earlier post (I was off by a factor of 2). The address is the input and the table contains the corresponding outputs, so your lookup table will consume only 65536 * 2 = 131072 bytes or 128kb of RAM (each output value is 16 bits or 2 bytes).
I don't have the LabVIEW 2013 FPGA module available right now, and I can't find any documentation suggesting that the inputs and outputs are single-precision floating point values. Everything I see says that they are fixed-point values. Are you sure that the inputs and outputs are floating point? Can you provide a screenshot? In any case, regardless of the numeric format, you are limited by the 16-bit precision of the inputs and outputs, so you'll never have more than those 65536 possible values. If you do have to do the conversion, you can use the To Fixed Point and Fixed Point to Integer Cast functions (and the equivalents in the reverse direction). That will give you an integer with the same bit pattern as the fixed-point equivalent which you can use as an integer input to the lookup table. -
I do not have NI-IMAQ or NI Vision.
I acquired the image using a picolo board then just saved it as a bitmap file.You want to convert it to an array of what? Of numbers? Of LabVIEW colors?
The "Read BMP File.vi" VI outputs a 1-D array of the pixels, but I suspect it is not exactly in the format that you need. I am NOT sure, but I think that each group of 3 elements of that 1-D array (which is inside the cluster "image data" that the VI outputs) represents the red, green and blue levels of a single pixel (but it may be hue, saturation and lum.). Also, since it is a 1-D array, you would have to divide it by the width (which is also included in the "image data" cluster) to get some sort of 2-D array of data.
You can find the "Read BMP File.vi" VI in the functions palete> "Graphics & sound">"Graphics Formats". -
I haven't had much experience working with arrays in labview and I'm looking for a way to do more complicated math than the "add/multiply array elements."
More specifically, I have a 2-D, 4 row, 3 column matrix ( lets call them x, y, and z, with elements x1, x2, x3, and x4, and the same for y and z.
I need to compute the average for the elements in the 1st and 3rd columns: (x1+z1)/2 = xz1 avg
And then I need to use that result: (xz1 avg - y1)/xz1 avg
For each row in the array.
Do I need to split the array into 3, one for each column, to do this? Or is there a formula node that lets me specify which array column/row/element to use?By default, autoindexing FOR loops iterate over Rows, so once you have the math for one row, simply place it inside a FOR loop and iterate over all rows.
Here's an example:
LabVIEW Champion . Do more with less code and in less time .

my iPhone 5 fell into the water and a writing like that appeared with the apple sign. (when its turning on) but it is now a gray screen and it is not working, nor can i connect it to my laptop.
You're seriously trying to use an electronic device that's been in contact with water????
You do know that since th beginning of time water and electricity don't mix, right?
Start being smart and top trying to use it NOW, and put it in a bag of rice for a week. -
I have a iPhone 5s fell into the water and damaged fingerprint sensor motion and lines of light appeared on the screen, but it still works and did not hurt anything else Can I replace it with a new phone
No. The warranty does not cover damage.
You can only get a replacement if you can talk Apple into selling you and out of warranty replacement.

What I have is a file (int&term.dat) with three lines;
5.75, 30
5.5, 15
5.35 ,7
I have three JButtom that I what to read a seperate line and place the term in a term TextField and a rate in a Rate TextField
I have added the following code and all it does now is output a black space to the screen; I am working with one Button and Just the rate for now to try and get it to work. I have been looking at the forums, reading the internet and several books to try and figure this out. I think I may be getting closer.
public static void read()
String line;
StringTokenizer tokenizer;
String rate;
String term;
try
FileReader fr = new FileReader ("int&term.dat");
BufferedReader inFile = new BufferedReader (fr);
line = inFile.readLine();
while (line != null)
tokenizer = new StringTokenizer(line);
rate = tokenizer.nextToken();
line = inFile.readLine();
inFile.close();
System.out.println(new String());
catch (FileNotFoundException exception)
System.out.println ("The file was not found.");
catch (IOException exception)
System.out.println (exception);

How do I read directly from file into byte array
I am reading an image from a file into a BuffertedImage then writing it out again into an array of bytes which I store and use later on in the program. Currently Im doing this in two stages is there a way to do it it one go to speed things up.
try
//Read File Contents into a Buffered Image
/** BUG 4705399: There was a problem with some jpegs taking ages to load turns out to be
* (at least partially) a problem with non-standard colour models, which is why we set the
* destination colour model. The side effect should be standard colour model in subsequent reading.
BufferedImage bi = null;
ImageReader ir = null;
ImageInputStream stream = ImageIO.createImageInputStream(new File(path));
final Iterator i = ImageIO.getImageReaders(stream);
if (i.hasNext())
ir = (ImageReader) i.next();
ir.setInput(stream);
ImageReadParam param = ir.getDefaultReadParam();
ImageTypeSpecifier typeToUse = null;
for (Iterator i2 = ir.getImageTypes(0); i2.hasNext();)
ImageTypeSpecifier type = (ImageTypeSpecifier) i2.next();
if (type.getColorModel().getColorSpace().isCS_sRGB())
typeToUse = type;
if (typeToUse != null)
param.setDestinationType(typeToUse);
bi = ir.read(0, param);
//ir.dispose(); seem to reference this in write
//stream.close();
//Write Buffered Image to Byte ArrayOutput Stream
if (bi != null)
//Convert to byte array
final ByteArrayOutputStream output = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
//Try and find corresponding writer for reader but if not possible
//we use JPG (which is always installed) instead.
final ImageWriter iw = ImageIO.getImageWriter(ir);
if (iw != null)
if (ImageIO.write(bi, ir.getFormatName(), new DataOutputStream(output)) == false)
MainWindow.logger.warning("Unable to Write Image");
else
if (ImageIO.write(bi, "JPG", new DataOutputStream(output)) == false)
MainWindow.logger.warning("Warning Unable to Write Image as JPEG");
//Add to image list
final byte[] imageData = output.toByteArray();
Images.addImage(imageData);
If you don't need to manipulate the image in any way I would suggest you just read the image file directly into a byte array (without ImageReader) and then create the BufferedImage from that byte array.

My iPod Touch Fell Into The Tub!
My iPod Touch fell into the tub. Within 1 to 2 seconds I got it out immediately. It was on when it fell into the tub. After retreiving it I set it on the floor and turned it off. After completing my errands I set it on the nearby stand. As I was finishing up I saw a flash of light go on and off. For the last couple of days I thought it was just completely dead until I figured out that if you press the "home/menu" button and swipe your hand where the "unlock screen" should be you hear the click. You can also hear the click when I turn my iPod off. Also, I have put it in extreme lighting and tilted it a certain way and could see the home menu with all the different apps. You have to strain to see that. I could make out the utilities button and clicked on it to see if adjusting the brightness would help anything. It is up the whole way and it doesn't make a difference. The screen is still as dark as can be. I clicked on the music button and chose the nearest song and it played perfectly. I have also clicked on apps and you can hear the noise even though the screen is so dark that you have to strain to see anything and put it under the brightest light in the world. Please help!!! I'm not exactly sure what the problem is exactly. The screen isn't cracked or anything like that.
THINGS THAT HAVE NOT WORKED ON FIXING MY IPOD
1. Nearest Apple Store is WAY out of my way.
2. Tried adjusting the brightness.
3. Put in a bowl of uncooked rice. (I'm sure there wasn't any water in it to begin with.)
4. Pressed home/menu button and sleep/power button at same time and 8 to 15 seconds in released sleep/power button while still holding the home button and released.
5. Updating iTunes software.Even though you don't believe water enter into it, the fact that it's not working properly confirms that it did get wet inside. It apears that the LCD panel backlight is not functioning. the only cure for this is to have the LCD panel replaced. Hopefully nothing else will fail later due to the water damage. Hope this Helps.

How to put data into a array element in the BPEL
Hi,
I have a element in the WSDL which is of type Array. (i.e accepts unlimited data for the same element). How should i put a data into a array in the BPEL.
Example:
The below Example gives u an idea about wht iam asking:pasting a piece of my requirement:
<s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="parameters" type="tns:ArrayOfCSParameters" />
<s:complexType name="ArrayOfCSParameters">
<s:sequence>
<s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"
name="CSParameters" nillable="true" type="tns:CSParameters" />
</s:sequence>
</s:complexType>
<s:complexType name="CSParameters">
<s:sequence>
<s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="RevenueItem" type="tns:RevenueItem" />
<s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="AccountURIs" type="tns:ArrayOfString" />
<s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="GroupURIs" type="tns:ArrayOfString" />
<s:element minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1" name="Percentage" nillable="true" type="s:decimal" />
</s:sequence>
<s:attribute name="Version" type="s:decimal" use="required" />
<s:attribute name="URI" type="s:string" />
</s:complexType>
Any suggestion is appreciated.
Regards
pavanYou have 2 options i guess.
Use the transformation and the for-each to construct the array-list
or like Richard said, use a loop in bpel, assign in the loop an variable of element type="CSParameters" and append this variable to your variable with accepts the arraylist. -
Hello.
During developing Domain Index for Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 (problem also appears in 12с) i was faced with misunderstanding of parameter types of function
ODCIIndexInsert in case of creating indextype WITH ARRAY DML option
According to Oracle documentation
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e10765/ext_idx_ref.htm#i76892
In case of WITH ARRAY DML option Oracle will invoke ODCIIndexInsert with following signature
FUNCTION ODCIIndexInsert(
ia ODCIIndexInfo,
ridlist ODCIRidList,
newvallist varray_of_column_type,
env ODCIEnv)
RETURN NUMBER
In my case indexed column has datatype NUMBER so i defined varray_of_column_type as SYS.ODCINumberList
STATIC FUNCTION ODCIIndexInsert(ia in sys.ODCIIndexInfo, ridlist in sys.ODCIRidList, newvallist in sys.ODCINumberList, env in SYS.ODCIEnv) RETURN NUMBER
Indextype was created as
CREATE INDEXTYPE test_index_type
FOR
test_eq(number, number)
USING index_methods
WITH ARRAY DML(number, sys.ODCINumberList)
WITH LOCAL RANGE PARTITION
WITH SYSTEM MANAGED STORAGE TABLES;
or
CREATE INDEXTYPE test_index_type
FOR
test_eq(number, number)
USING index_methods
WITH ARRAY DML
WITH LOCAL RANGE PARTITION
WITH SYSTEM MANAGED STORAGE TABLES;
(problem occurs in all cases)
CREATE TABLE test_table (id NUMBER (19,0));
CREATE INDEX test_index ON test_table(id) INDEXTYPE IS test_index_type;
When attempting to insert data in the table
insert into test_table values (1);
oracle raise exception
Error starting at line 53 in command:
insert into test_table values (1)
Error at Command Line:53 Column:1
Error report:
SQL Error: ORA-29925: cannot execute SCOTT.INDEX_METHODS.ODCIINDEXINSERT
ORA-06553: PLS-306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'ODCIINDEXINSERT'
ORA-06553: PLS-306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'ODCIINDEXINSERT'
29925. 00000 - "cannot execute %s"
*Cause: The specified function does not exist or does not have an
appropriate signature.
*Action: Implement the function with the appropriate signature.
So my question is.
Is it normal behavior of oracle (according to documentation)?
What is correct signature of ODCIIndexInsert function in case of INDEXTYPE creation with 'WITH ARRAY DML' option and fact that indexed column has NUMBER datatype?
By the way if i define indextype without 'WITH ARRAY DML' option signature is clear, and working. But this approach doesn't satisfies our performance needs.
Also if i define index type with option 'WITH ARRAY DML WITHOUT COLUMN DATA' and use signature
static function ODCIIndexInsert(ia sys.odciindexinfo, ridlist sys.odciridlist, env sys.ODCIEnv) return number
Everything works too. But this approach doesn't satisfies our business needs.
Is it a way to define ODCIIndexInsert parameter types (in case of indexing number column) so that batch inserting works according to documentation ?
FUNCTION ODCIIndexInsert(
ia ODCIIndexInfo,
ridlist ODCIRidList,
newvallist varray_of_column_type,
env ODCIEnv)
I am attaching full sql script to recreate environment and reproduce the problem.

(Urgent help needed) how to read txt file and store the data into 2D-array?
Hi, I have a GUI which allow to choose file from the file chooser, and when "Read file" button is pressed, I want to show the array data into the textarea.
The sample data is like this followed:
-0.0007 -0.0061 0.0006
-0.0002 0.0203 0.0066
0 0.2317 0.008
0.0017 0.5957 0.0008
0.0024 1.071 0.0029
0.0439 1.4873 -0.0003
I want my program to scan through and store these data into 2D array.
However for some reason, my source code issues errors, and I don't know what's wrong with it, seems to have a problem in StringTokenizer though. Can anybody help me?
Thanks in advance.

.1) Next time use the CODE tags. this is way too much unreadable crap.
2) The problem is your String[][] data.... the only place I see you do anything approching initializing it is
data = new String[numLines][];I think you want to do this..
data = new String[numLines][3];anyway that's why it's blowing up on the line
data[row][col]=st.nextToken(); -
How to insert values into an array of class
Hello everyone,
I need help in inserting values into an array of class, which i have read from a file.
Length of the array is 5. I should insert values one by one into that array.
If the array is full (if count = 5), then I should split the array into 2 arrays
and adjust the values to left and right with median.
I'm getting an ArrayBoundException .. can anybody help me out ?
Thanks in advance
Here is my code..........
import java.util.*;
import java.io.*;
public class Tree
static String second;
static String first;
static int count = 5;
public void insert(int f1,int s1, int c)
if(c!=0)
Record[] rec = new Record[4];
for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++)
rec[i] = new Record();
for(int i = 0; i<=4;i++)
rec.x = f1;
rec[i].y = s1;
else
System.out.println("yes");
public static void main(String[] args)
Tree t = new Tree();
try
FileReader fr = new FileReader("output.txt"); // open file
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(fr);
String s;
while((s = br.readLine()) != null)

first = st.nextToken();
second = st.nextToken();
// System.out.println("First-->"+first+" "+"Second-->"+second);
int fir = Integer.parseInt(first);
int sec = Integer.parseInt(second);
t.insert(fir, sec, count);

class Record
public int x,y;Hi qwedwe.
Record[] rec = new Record[4];
for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++)
rec[i] = new Record();
}Here is your error: you have an array of 4 Records, but you create and (try to) insert 5 Record-instances.... try:
Record[] rec = new Record[c];
for (int i = 0; i < c; i++)

Need Help with Arrays/Text
I'm trying to create a flash program that uses it's own code to send and create images. Each square has a colour and that colour gets added into the array. A black, then grey, then white is:
filecode = ["Bl", "Gr", "Wh"];
That works fine, but when I try to paste it into an Input text box it will only fill in the first part of the array.
filecode = ["Bl,Gr,Wh"];
So the program has NO idea what I want.
The only ways I can think of fixing this is by putting in 402 text boxes to suit every box...But every one of them needs a Variable Name.
Or by sending the information straight into the array. But this way you are just looking at what you just drew, and that is not at ALL practical.
Helping me with this headache will be greatly apprectiated.
FlashDrive100.If you can explain the first part of your posting it might become a little clearer what you are trying to do and what isn't working... particularly this...
" when I try to paste it into an Input text box it will only fill in the first part of the array."
I can't speak for anyone else, but at this point, I share your file's problem... not knowing what you want. -
How to put 58 columns of data into an array in one shot?
I have a set of data with 58 columns and 5000 rows. However, I need to find offset for all the elements in this 5000x58 set of data. Is there an easier way to put all the data (offset) into an array in one shot other than using build array function? This is because if I use the build array function, I will need to separate all the data into 58 columns by indexing them. This is too time consuming.
Thanks for the suggestion! Have a good day!VanessaWen wrote:

You need to explain in much more detail, because your problem is not clear.
Is this a 2D array with 58 columns and 5000 rows?
What is your definition of "offset"?
Where does the offset value come from?
Is "offset" it the same for each row (or column) or does it depend on the data?
What is the definition of "one shot"?
Why would you need to seperate all the data into columns in order to use build array?
It it "too time consuming" to write the program or is the execution slower than expected?
Is the final output a 1D or 2D array or something else?
Please attach a VI containing a small 2D array diagram constant with typical data, then show us what kind of output you would expect after applying the described operation.
