  • No sound Windows 7, 64 bit running Bootcamp, MacBook Pro 64bit Snow Leopard

Been running Windows like this successfully for over a year. Now, suddenly, no sound. Tried re-installing Cirrus Logic etc, but to no avail. Possibly linked to some recent software updates? Tried to reverse, but didn't fix problem.
Have tried the various suggestions found via Google about compatability with Vista in Cirrus.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.

in bootcamp in osx one makes a driver cd which include apples drivers for all the hardware in the mac
and one then install that in windows to get everything working
do that rather then try to install drivers yourself

  • No sound Windows 7 64 bit, Audigy SE

I just purchased a new Audigy SE board to use in a computer where I work. I downloaded the latest drivers and they seem to install with no problem. However, I get no sound whatsoever.
The motherboard does not have on-board audio. I tried to un-install and re-install the drivers, tried different pci slots, to no avail. I also put the card in two other computers (different operating systems and motherboard types). The card works fine in both other systems.
My current system specs are as follows.
    Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
    Super Micro motherboard model X9SCA
    Chipset is Intel C204 PCH
Device Manager reports no problems with the device. However, testing the sounds does not work, and if I try to play a Youtube video, the video freezes after about 10 seconds (don't know if this is related).
    Any suggestions are certainly appreciated.

If the card works in other PC-s it s the mobo in culprit or the PCI slot.
PCI version can be a problem too.
Install the Audigy Support Pack from Daniel K for drivers.

  • Windows 7 64-bit Brightness controls suddenly dead

Soooo, whenever I boot up into Windows, regardless of what OS X's brightness was set to, Windows starts itself out at max brightness. Not a big deal, I thought, as I can just turn it down every time I reboot.
Then yesterday I was digging around in the taskbar battery -> Power Options settings, and went to Change Plan Settings, where I found I could adjust the brightness level! Awesome! So I set it as low as it would go without shutting off my backlight. Aaaand that's when the problems started.
I was unable to use my F1 and F2 keys to adust brightness anymore. The on-screen UI simply wouldn't show up. I could pull up the settings again and change it that way, but it was a bit of a pain. Oddly enough, there was no way to simply turn that setting off, i.e. make it ignore the little slider bar.
So eventually I got used to it being on lowest-possible brightness, and used it like normal. Then I rebooted, and the problems grew.
As usual, the system started out at max brightness as soon as windows loaded up, and of course the F buttons still didn't work. But... I clicked the battery, clicked Power Options, clicked Change Plan Settings... and suddenly, the brightness option was no longer there. Huh. I'm stuck on max brightness with no way to turn it down.
So of course I go over to Control Panel to enable my ambient light sensor. No dig. Nothing happens. F*ck.
Soo then I go online and look up solutions, pull up my Boot Camp Control Panel, and what's this? There's a brightness tab! That wasn't there last time I poked around in it's settings... Hmm. So, I tentatively adjust this, click Apply--and nothing happens. Okay, well it's Windows, so maybe I just have to reboot.
    Nope. Still nothing.
Short of digging around and uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, I have done everything I've found to do and then some. I use the Windows partition to do things like PhotoShop and LiveStream, and that's how I earn my money right now, and having this thing at max brightness+photoshop+livestream is really overheating it, the last thing I want to do is push this too far and burn it up.
I'm on a mid-2012 MBA, 13", Bootcamping between whatever the current OSX is and Windows 7 64-bit. If there's any other system information I need to provide I am willing and able to do so, just let me know.
    I really need this fixed.

Command + R *should* take it to a recovery console. Command + Option + P + R resets the PRAM, but that doesn't sound like your fix.If all of your buttons are working fine on OSX side, I would ignore PRAM / NVRAM / SMC reset tricks, since these are tested as working fine.
I would say you should probably reinstall the drivers for bootcamp. I tried this with 5 in Windows 8 and it gives you an option to repair. The reason I say this is because the UI isn't showing up, which means that it's using another driver.
If this doesn't work, go into device manager and then roll back to your previous settings.
One more thing comes to mind. Do you ever use Parallels or VMWare to load your bootcamp partition? They have their own driver packages which can cause some unwanted behavior when using windows natively.
One last thing you can do is try to by-pass the GUI powerplan entirely. You can use the Powercfg command, which, as it happens, has instructions on how to forcefully set the brightness values. You probably won't be able to make it through these instructions since you will get an error at some point, but that will give us more diagnostic information.
    Good luck!

  • Satellite U400-15E - Upgraded to Windows 7 32-bit now NO sound through HDMI

I upgraded from vista to windows 7 32-bit, now i have no HDMI device shown under playback devices, i have installed new windows 7 drivers but still no luck. Under device manager/sound a HDMI device is shown as enabled and when connected to an external TV video is shown but no HDMI sound. please can someone help......

I have found out the solution to get HDMI sound to the TV
    1. Right click volume icon on taskbar
    2. Select playback devices
    3. Right Click on SPDIF Interface and select Default Communications Device.
    4. Connect HDMI from TV to Laptop
    5. HDMI Device should be selected automatically.
When HDMI is disconnected the HDMI device is shown as disabled in playback devices whereas previously this device wasn''t shown at all.

  • When I open Firefox, even in safe mode, it causes my Windows 7 64-bit to totally crash and I get that blue screen of death =(. This has happened suddenly on Nov 16, 2010. I had been running Firefox on Windows 7 64-bit with no problems previously. Help?

I have had Windows 7 64 bit for the past year and have run Firefox with no problem. It was the most problem free of the three browsers including IE and Chrome.
I have a Vista side where I run my online backup and did so yesterday. Went on Firefox. No Problem.
Today I booted into the Windows 7 side. Seemed to boot up okay. Until I opened Firefox. Suddenly, my whole computer crashed, windows shut down and that bluescreen popped up. I restarted normally. Same thing. I restarted in safe-mode. Couldn't find any problems. Went back to regular mode. Started FF. Boom crash.
Back to safe mode. Did a system restore. Back to regular startup. Didn't help. Attempting to open FF crahed windows.
So back to safe mode. Started Firefox. Crashed the whole computer and same blues screen.
So I uninstalled FF. Reinstalled FF. It still makes Windows crash.
So now I am on IE :P

See below -- the way I asked the question the first time may not be clear. This post was a goof but I can't figure out how to delete it

  • I have no sound on dv8000. Moved to Windows 7 64 bit. (error messaged;No media controller's)

I have no sound on dv8000. Moved to Windows 7 64 bit. Windows XP was on very shaky ground (error messaged-No multi media controller's). Also, need mass storage controller driver. Where can I obtain the compatible drivers. It would be nice if HP did not abandon some of their products as they did this one. Finally, can I add 2gigs DDR 333 (pc2700 2.5 cas) instead of the 512 megs I have now. I will be grateful for any help.~~~~Cuba T

Don't blame HP....Conexant didn't develop 64 bit drivers for their audio chip.
If you want to run W7 on that model, it will have to be 32 bit.  Then you use the Vista 32 bit audio driver--probably have to manually install it too.
After you make the switch, install this card reader driver for the mass storage controller.
It will also work on W7 64 bit but without any audio, I don't see the point.

  • Start Navigation sound in Windows 7 64 bit dissappeared

? [size="">I have been scratching my head over this one.
[size="">After doing a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on a new build this week, and installing a new X-Fi PCIe Titanium Fatality Pro, I found the start navigation windows sound was no longer there - I am talking about the brief sound you hear, that sounds like a click, when you click a link, double click a folder to open , etc. I could find the sound in windows sounds, but when I pressed test I could not hear it.
    [size="">
[size="">After much trial and error, I discovered that I had to disable sound blaster enhancements, in the properties tab for speakers in the sound card settings. I now have that windows sound back.
[size="">When I enable sound blaster enhancements, it goes away, when I disable them, it is back to normal.
    [size="">
[size="">Is this normal or unique to me?

Wow, that fixed? my problem also by disabling soundblaster enhancements. How were you able to figure that one out? I was trying to figure it'sout also many months ago when I first got windows 7 beta and couldn't do it. Anyway,
Seems like most people don't like this start navigation sound, but I do.
I don't like the fact of having to disable soundblaster enhancements also.
Have you noticed that if you change the windows theme to something else it will actually work?

I also disassembled and reassembled for second time to find out if the problem was minor like an unplugged cable but everything was completely fine. • Windows 7 64-bit on A88X-G43 and have no sound

I just replaced my dead Motherboard with an MSI A88X-G43, with an AMD A10-6800K and 2 4GB sticks of G.Skill Ripjaws X Series RAM.
    Main Board:    A88X-G43
    Bios Version:  E7793AMS V3.3

    PSU:               Corsair VX450W
12v rail Rating of listed PSU:
    CPU:               AMD A10-6800K
    Memory:         G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 2133 (PC3 17000)
    SSD/ HDD:      Seagate Barracuda ST3120026A
    CPU COOLER: Stock
    Raid Card:      N/A
    Sound Card:   Built-in sound
Any Additional hardware plugged into your system:  None
    OC: (Yes / No)        NO
Operating System: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
    1. Installed The Win7 Pro 64-bit OS
    2. Installed MSI board drivers ("Total Installer")
    3. Rebooted & got no Windows Startup "Song"
    4. Played some mp3 files - nothing
    5. Went to Investors.com (IBD site) and clicked on the Market Wrap video, which started playing, but there was no audio.
    6. Checked Device Manager and everything looks good - no ! next to any devices, giving NO indication that there is a problem - just no sound.
    7. Did lots of online searches and reading and found issues with the Realtek HD drivers and the KB888111xpsp2 update.
    8. Under Sound, video and game controllers, in Device Manager, Uninstalled AMD High Definition Audio Device & Realtek High Definition Audio.
    9. Rebooted and the system found the drivers and reinstalled them.  Still no sound.
    10. Put in a Technical Support Service Request with MSI.  Below is my exchange with them:
End User   02/27/2014   I installed Windows 7 64-bit, installed the driver by clicking on the x icon. Things are working well, except my sound. I am getting NO sound from the headphone/speaker audio connection. I have connected known good speakers and known good headphones and am getting NO audio. I re-installed the Realtech HD audio driver and I still have NO sound. Please advise. Thanks you.
MSI Tech.   02/27/2014   It has everything to do with windows sp3. There is a glitch where you cant install windows hotfix kb888111 because sp3 thinks its newer then the hotfix. all you have to do is manually extract the .inf file from the KB888111XPSP2.exe file and load it for the questioned pci device. it will then detect the realtek hd audio device and you can then install the drivers.
    11.  I have extracted the 2 files in KB888111XPSP2.exe and placed them in a folder on my PC.  However, since I have no problems showing in Device Manager and the Audio Drivers installed without any problems, I am stumped.
A little background:  I am an Electrical Engineer by school and currently write embedded Software & Firmware, and often troubleshoot hardware problems.  I have put many PCs together, so this is not my first rodeo.  However, this problem has stumped me!
Please give me some detailed info on how to get my sound working completely.
    Thank you for your time!
    Jules

  • Windows 7 64 bit Sound Card Problem

In January 2009, we had a 64 bit operating system problem http://forums.adobe.com/message/1015026#1015026. Our software, which was published using Version 6.5, was freezing on a customer’s computer on playing the first sound file, then if the sound file was by-passed, on displaying the first swf. The problem was eventually resolved by Mike Baker publishing our a6p file in Authorware 7, and this cured the fault. So we upgraded to Authorware 7.02 and since then no further problems ... until December 2010.
We launched our Italian Course late November and had a not dissimilar sort of problem reported by a customer. He's tried uninstalling & re-installing the software but the fault keeps re-occurring. The computer displays a "not responding" message. Debugging, we discovered that the message appears when trying to play the initial mp3 file (fixed bit rate) … the program does eventually continue but without playing the sound file. It then keeps hanging (there are thousands of sound files in our course), and none of the sound files play: text & pictures are displaying normally. Eventually the program freezes and has to be killed with ctrl+alt+delete.
The computer in question is a Dell Inspiron 580s, & the operating system Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I’m awaiting details of the sound card & confirmation that his drivers are up-to-date but I presume they will be (Windows 7 default is to keep drivers updated). I haven’t got the customer to carry out basic tests sound file tests yet, but he indicates no problems with Media Player or with iTunes.
Extras in our XTRAS folder include:-
    AWMP3.X32
    MIX32.X32
    MIXVIEW.X32
    NETFILE.X32
    SWADCMPR.X32
    VIEWSVC.X32
    INETURL.X32
    FLASHASSET/FLASHAST.X32
The database for our Italian course is now in ProgramData. (previous courses, database was in Program Files and run in XP compatible mode). We’re having problems with this location with Windows 7 64 bit … it is maintaining a copy in Virtual Store and updating the file there. No such problem with XP, Vista or Windows 7 32 bit. I see this as an unrelated problem. We got the customer to run the software in XP mode but the problem was not corrected.
We do have customers successfully running our software on Windows 7 64 bit operating system computers; we had a minor ODBC glitch reported recently from a 64 bit user.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Tom,
I concur with Steve that this is probably system-specific. A couple of things you may want to try:
    1. Be sure you're using the Xtras that came with Authorware 7.02 and not 6.5. For example, I believe mixview.x32 and viewsvc.x32 were updated in Authorware 7.
    2. Try making a little AW program with 4 or 5 buttons that each trigger an imported MP3 file, where each audio file has different output settings (e.g. mono vs stereo, 64kbps vs. 92 kbps, etc.). Package it up and send it to the Dell user to test it. You may stumble upon an audio output setting that works on that particular machine.

  • How do I enable all sound files wav,MP3 on windows 7 64-bit change system sounds

How do I enable all sound files wav,MP3 on windows 7 64-bit change system sounds it will only give me the option to choose wav?

Windows 7 uses .wav (wave) files for the sound events. The default folder that Windows 7 uses to store the sound files in is located at C:\Windows\Media.
You cannot use a MP3 file but there are lots of (WAV to MP3 converters) available on internet which can help you to convert MP3 to wav  serving your purpose of changing system sound.

  • Windows 7 - 64 Bit Driver Needed For Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Model SB0100

    I am having trouble finding a working driver for Windows 7 - 64 Bit for a Sound Blaster Li've! 5. Audo Card Model# SB000
I downloaded driver file SBL_PC64DRVBETA_LB_2_03_0005.exe which I think is a 64 Bit Sound Blaster Li've! update, but Windows 7 does not allow it to be installed because it is not a digitally signed driver. It also seems Creative is no longer supporting these old cards with new driver updates.
I love the card though. I have bought more recent sound cards and the sound of this card is still much better than the more recent sound cards I have bought. So I would like to keep using it if possible.
    Are there any driver solutions?

I recently answered about the same question:
If you?use Vista or Windows7, then there is no official driver. You can only use alternati've drivers like Vista Support Pack by Daniel_K or the one from KXProject (better). But if you have more than 2 gigs of memory installed or an x64 OS, then both drivers will be half-working (as far as I remember, Daniel's driver won't work with more than 2 Gb of memory installed in any OS, and with KX-driver there will only be a problem with MIDI playback with more than 2 Gb AND x64 Win7).
