Suggestion for future Numbers update

I upgraded to v. 3.5.2.  BUT, I miss the drop down menu that used to be on the lower edge of the startup screen called:  Open Recent or whatever it was.  Now, just like in Excel, I have to close the format screen and go to File to Open Recent.  Please consider re-adding that option from the initial screen.

This is a user to user forum.
you could send your feedback to apple: https://www.apple.com/feedback/numbers.html
You can still access this feature from the startup screen though: (cf photo)
You can also still use the older version of numbers if you have a Time Machine backup you can recover it from.

  • Suggestion for future firmware release

Hi, I'm proud to be a possessor of an AirPort Extreme and I would reccomend some useful deficiencies for future firmware update.
The ability to specify DNS1 and DNS2 for DHCP Client (I don't want that AirPort resolve itself)
The ability to quickly turn off and on wireless for health and green respect.
I'm thinking at a small application that doesn't restart AirPort but only turn off and on wireless and wired host continue to work.
Obviously AirPort Extreme doesn't have any hardware button to turn off wireless, but this could be a great thing for future models of AirPort...
    Best regards!

Why not let Apple know directly about your suggestions?

  • What is the oldest generation of iPad that will still allow me to run IOS8 and allow for future IOS updates?

Buying a used iPad... what is the oldest generation of iPad that will still allow me to run IOS8 and allow for future IOS updates?
    Thanks

An iPad 2 will do it...for awhile. Realize that it's seemingly on it's last legs as far as iOS updates go and performance will not be great enough for today's demanding games. Also realize that a big part of running apps smoothly is how much system RAM (the memory area that the apps actually run in) the device has. The iPad 2 has 512 MB which is adequate for most apps but not for some. The iPads above the iPad 2 all have 1 GB of system RAM and the iPad Air 2 has 2 GB.
The time will come when the iPad 2 can no longer be updated past a certain iOS version (as the iPad 1 is) so it will be more difficult to keep up with apps that you want to be using. This will eventually happen to ALL devices so you'll have to judge if you want to be at the tail-end of iOS updates or at least have a bigger buffer with a newer iPad.

  • Suggestion for future release

Where should I post suggestions for future releases of SQL Developer or/and Data Modeler?
    Please give me a link.
    Thanx,
    Chris
    One suggestion for Data Modeler:
In the "Model Properties" of a relational model, there should be a "scripts" folder like in the "Table Properties".
In this script I'd like to generate some global statements for the DDL generation,
    for example:
before (=begin of generated script): set define off; alter session set nls_numeric_characters='.,'; nls-config
after (=end of generated script): commit; (when table inserts are used and no ddl-statement is following; otherwise you have to use 'commit' in each table-script; After the last table create (ddl-) statement there is no implicit 'commit')
I know, that I can edit the generated script to add my statements, but if you often generate code there is a good change to forget to change the script afterwards.

  • Your "suggestions for future features" is broken??!!

I really just wanted to leave you a suggestion for future features. Your system took me to a page that said i needed to be on the most recent version but alas I am! You even tell me so when I go to firefox.com! Hmmmm...... a little problem there.
Regardless, here is the feature suggestion i wish to make:
You've done a fine job of cleaning up the top bar in 4.0 to make the most of new widescreen displays so that we have more space for the page content vs. the browser stuff. The deal is, virtually all sites still use only about a third of the page width leaving tons of wasted space on a full screen view. Why don't you offer a way to move all the browser navigation, tabs, and tools wherever i prefer - like running vertically down the left or right side of the massively empty pages i see on my 24" monitor and even my little 11" laptop monitor?

You can leave your feedback/suggestion at this link: Apple Product Feedback

  • Scanner Suggestions for future support

Maybe I'm asking for the world, but I'm on my third scanner in the last 6 years. Does anyone have a suggestion for a scanner manufacturer, or price range, where I might be able to count on future support of drivers as the new OS releases come out? I have used the workarounds (VueScan), but I'd really just like to think in advance that I am buying a product that will be supported 2 years from now.

    Took no action.

  • EA6900 Update and Two Suggestions for Future Firmware "Nice to Haves"

Hey, first off, I've been a user of Linksys Routers for many years now, so I am familiar with the different settings and other selections that you generally see on the firmware pages.  As to the EA6900, I am very, very PLEASED with how this router initially set up, along with the different pages in it's firmware.  With the one exception noted below, the pages and the various settings "flow" very well.  This baby is up and kickin and the house is literally dripping in both 2.4 and 5 GHz RF.  The DHCP Reservation and MAC Wireless Filtering Tables worked without a hitch.  The setup for FTP and NAS was simple!  BTW, the setup for FTP shares is far easier than what we had to do using the EA3000 firmware.  Kudos there!  I am using the router associated with a server that is hosting about 25 different wired devices throughout the house, with a Cisco SG-200-08 Smart Switch behind the router for the LAN, which is load balancing on a Teamed (2 NIC'S) 2GB Adapter .  The router grabbed Comcast's Native IPv6 and set that up flawlessly.  Here is the information on how all that went (read from the bottom up): http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28693387-IPv6-Dumb-Questions-About-My-IPv6-Goat-Roped-Hookup  Information on how the netwrk worked in Teaming  and LAG mode is here: https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/4071888#4071888
OK:, So, Mr. Linksys Firmware Developer, whoever and wherever you are, I have two suggestions on the user GUI that would make everyone's life a little easier next time the firmware is updated:
    1.  Please make it so numbers, particularly MAC and IPv6 numbers, can be copied and then pasted to another place in the firmware.  For example, in the Information tab of the Device Settings section, I should be able to copy MAC and IP numbers and then be able to paste them, say, in the DHCP Reservation Table. Other Linksys device firmware allowed for this.
    2.  For goodness sakes, PLEASE don't nest the Diagnostics tab under the Troubleshooting group.  It drives me nuts to think that getting the router's status, to ping or traceroute, or to do a firmware backup would be found in "Troubleshooting".  Suggest that all y'all just remove the Diagnostics tab to the far left side of the application and have that item as its own stand-alone group!
Then I will be most happy.  As if it really matters, BUT I wanted to give all y'all my perspective from a user way down in the day-to-day weeds. A most happy Boy otherwise.

  • Suggestion to Apple for future firmware update

Can I make a suggestion or two here of some features if there's an upgrade to the firmware of the iPod Video?
-It would be mighty cool to have one more option for Backlight...maybe one where every time it switches tracks, it would light up for 5 or 10 seconds.
-I WISH the timed sleep function could be put on the main menu rather than having to go into the Clock settings first.
-A display option added that would show just the artwork.

The first one is a really good one with an option to set your iPod to light up for a couple seconds when it switches tracks. So many times in the car I won't recognize the track (especially if it is something new I added to iTunes) and I have to touch the iPod to force the backlight on so I can see what it is.
Another one I would love to see, and have send the idea to Apple years ago, is to allow the screen color to be changed rather than being white. One very useful application of this would be to use a dark red screen so when using the iPod at night when you want to look at the iPod the blinding white screen ruins your night vision, so having the option to change the screen color, while cool in its own right, would be great to have a "night" setting using a dark red screen.

here is how they respond to our requests now.
"there's no such plan. Nokia Link is targeted for Nokia N9 users. As you've seen from comments by Pia, for Nokia N9 decision was to use new, lightweight desktop sideloading product."
    and how we thought,
"With the very limited functionality (lightweight?) of Nokia Link it is completely against that what customers want. We bought a high quality device which works quite well OTA but which is almost worthless when a company does not allow synchronizing an Exchange server due to security concerns.
I think Nokia does everything to prevent the N9 to become a very successful phone which sells better than all the announced and published WP **bleep**. This decision which was taken by someone to provide Nokia Link as the only connectivity software for the N9 is absolutely not customer oriented. Nokia was known to produce high quality innovative phones. Unfortunately this time is over."

  • Suggestion for future update

Assuming I can upgrade to ST 2.0 at some point without losing my custom icons... I just read about a tool called Speed Launch that essentially you give it the programs you need to open all at once, and then one click opens them all. I have several tasks that I open 5 or six things to do, and a single Simple Tap button that I could build to open all of them at once would be incredibly useful. -Michele

You can do that today by writing a .bat file and then pointing SimpleTap to it.  I have attached a sample .bat file that opens notepad and calculator - but you could modify it to do anything you want.  Then, using SimpleTap 2.0:
    1.  Click the "+" to create a new tile
    2.  Choose "launch a program"
    3.  Browse to the .bat file

  • Suggestions For Handling Bulk Updates Without Blocking Local User Updates

    Hi,
This is a request for general implementation suggestions.
We have a CRM database that is used by a call center application to allow reps to update customer info during business hours.  Outside of business hours we receive data feeds from another source that are bulk uploaded into the database to refresh the
data. This has been working fine for now, but we are expanding the use of the app to offices in other countries and are beginning to encounter more blocking during the bulk upload because now the app is being used outside our local business hours because of
    the time difference.
It seems this would be a common problem, but I haven't been able to identify a good source of information on methods to overcome this.
What suggestions do people have to complete bulk loads while still allowing updates by local users?
Ideas I have been considering include duplicating the database and performing merge replication, using service broker to queue updates during the bulk load, using snapshot isolation or isolation levels with row versioning....
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Reinis

I have considered trying to break the update into chunks, but my fear as you said is it will take a lot longer.
Quite a few years ago, I rewrote a process in our system to make it a set-based update for better performance. But I heard as late as today from our customer with the biggest volumes, that they are still running the old process which updates one by one,
because when they do all at once the blocks other operations. (Which admittedly is due to other shortcomings in the system.)
Anyway, I would recommend you to look into that, and particularly make the chunks size configurable. Maybe you are able to find a sweet spot where blocking is not a problem, but the chunks are till big enough to be efficient.
Both of those resolutions are feasible and I certainly know there will be significant changes we may have to undertake.  I was just thinking that this must be a really common issue now with the global reach of data and there must be people who have
    handled it in different ways.
It's not really a simple problem, and the solution is likely to depend on the current architecure you have. What fits in one shop, may not fit in another. And most of all, one solution may be a lot less costly to implement than another.

  • Suggestions for improving this update in batches of 100 records

I'm currently using the following PL/SQL code to update batches of records in groups of 100 records at a time.
    - DB Version : Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.7.0
    - There is an index on columns : AHS_CONTACT_TYPE, SYNCSTATUS
    - I have to commit the records in batches of 100
-- Mark all the Agents "In Process" (regardless of Owner)
    -- Update last_modified_by_id to 'SALESFORCE_LOADED' if the
    -- last_modified_by_id column is 'SALESFORCE_SYNC' and
-- the ID column is NOT NULL

          END IF;
       END LOOP;
-- Catch last batch with any records less then 100
COMMIT;Does anyone have any suggestions about further improving this performance?
    Thanks,
    Jason

Okay, I have to do it batches per our DBA group.
This is not up for debate...unfortunately. Their
    r reasons :
    - To keep the rollback segment small Very small apparently, in fact in this test, updating 100 rows of 2 varchar2(200) columns uses 56 KB of rollback. Updating the whole 10,000 rows uses 5 MB. Is this database running on a pocket USB flash drive? Currently costing $30 for 512 MB from Amazon

must be reasonably small for throughout across the
    WAN
I don't know what replication engine is being used, but the loop approach uses a huge amount more of REDO than a simple set based update. Most replication applies the REDO to the remote database to synch it up. The loop will cause more data to be transferred over the WAN than a single update.

Either way, I want to optimize this code as much as

Just do the update. It uses less resources and is faster becasue of it. The slow approach does not use fewer database resources because you are throttling it. It is slower because it requires more of everything.

  • Suggestion for next firmware update - Nokia 5800

If anyone from nokia is reading this in the next firmware update for the Nokia 5800 XM can we have the facility of have the name of the title track of a song scroll from left to right whilst the song is playing, as at the moment it scrolls once and then stops so if its a song with a long title all you can see is just half the title after its scrolled once, and also maybe a way as the song is playing of seeing the details of the song playing (like the tags for artist, Kbps, song title, album name) by clicking the onscreen softkey/options button. And also this can be extended to the contacts list where the name will scroll from left to right to show the full contact name when you press on it, at the moment it doesn't do that.

Unfortunately the care centres are the only people that can help you.
Any other methods that you may read about on other forums will void your warranty and cannot be discussed here.
