Suggestion: remove gcc dependency from db
This gcc dependency thingy didn't bother me before because I was using Arch for workstation setups. But now that I've done a few server rigs, I'd like to see a minimal base install that didn't need gcc. It's not a size issue; I just don't like having an unneeded power tool lying around on boxes I'm responsible for.
For my purposes, the only thing that needs to be done is to fix db so it doesn't depend on gcc -- perhaps by promoting the libgcc package from the AUR. There are a few other packages in base that have the same dependency (groff, gettext) but I think if you're installing them, you're likely to be using gcc anyway.
You can forcefully remove gcc and replace it with libgcc: libgcc provides gcc so there shouldn't be any problems with dependencies.

Find and remove IMAQ dependency
A have a large project claims it has an IMAQ dependency, and at one time it did. I thought all of the IMAQ VIs were removed from the project, but the IMAQ library is still listed in the vi.lib dependencies of the project.
Searching the project for "IMAQ" returns the location(s) of the dependent files, but so far I've not been able to find any in the code that is actually being used.
I want to remove this dependency from my project completely. Any suggestions on how I can find where this dependency is occurring? So far I've been unable to find it.

Go to Solution.It sure is nice to have a manager with tons of LabVIEW experience. Managed to find the culprit that was holding the Vision dependencies in my project.
Finding the culprit VI meant taking a close look at everything listed in the vi.lib of my project's dependencies. I'd check for Callers of any suspect VIs and sure enough I found the one I was looking for pretty quickly. (...not sure why it was so elusive yesterday...) The VI was one that was actually no longer used at all in the project but was still part of the project, which meant that all of its dependencies were too.
Right-click and remove the VI from the project; and like magic all of the vision dependencies disappeared.

How does one remove temporary files from Safari? A friend logged on to her Facebook account using my iMac running Mac OSX 10.7.5 and Safari 6.1.6. Now I can't remove her e-mail address from my computer. When I open Facebook her address shows in the user button. I do not have a Facebook account. It was suggested to me that I try clearing temporary files from Safari but I can't find anything that tells me how to do this. Are temporary files the same as the cache? It also was suggested that I try clearing Safari cache. How do I do that?
Check Safari/Preferences/Passwords to see if the Facebook account is there. If so, select it and remove it. If you are still having problems, Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. If that doesn't work, Safari/Reset Safari.

Any suggestions on how to remove an "aura" from around a selection in an image? I shoot pictures at rodeos. To make the rider stand out, I create a mask around the rider and then blur the background with Gaussian Blur. This results in a noticeable blur around the outside of the selection. I have tried using Feathering as well as other Refine Edge Tools. The only thing that works is to go around the edge with the Clone Tool. This is time consuming and not totally successful. So, my two big questions are: (1) Is there a better (simpler) way to avoid the aura? and (2) If not, is there a way to remove the aura that is simpler??

Pacman picks the first mirror on the list, if it's not working, tries the second and so on. If the first one works, but it's outdated, pacman will still use it - because it's working and you wanted it.
Pacman doesn't know if it's up to date or not - it only errors out if it can't find the package - you have an old filelist and haven't run 'pacman -Sy' in a long time.
Just a couple mirrors is enough for pacman :-) -

OK, so you want to put it on your own web page. That's fine as long as you know how to create a web page.
The next thing you have to decide is how big do you want the video to appear on the web page. Many people just post on YouTube and then embed the video into their web page. That way, the video can take advantage of all of the various sizes that YouTube provides.
In any case, I suggest that you use H.264. But the data rate depends on the size of the file. If you are going to display it in HD, then you probably want to start at about 20Mb/s and go up or down from there. The required data rate depends on what you find acceptable, and that depends on the amount of movement in the video. For example, a talking head next to a white board explaining something requires a lot less bits to represent the image because less changes are taking place from frame to frame. If you use 10Mb/s for that, you might find 20Mb/s or more is required to make you happy if you shot a football game from the sidelines.

All Apple recommends is a damp cloth.
Depending on how much and thick it is, I'd use a dry papertowel or your fingernail to scrape the bulk of it off (I suggest fingernail so that you use something that can't really scratch the iPad)
Once you get most of it, then use a damp, not wet, cloth, maybe one that you moistened with warm water to help cut through the waxy nature of the crayon.
What you don't want to do is use chemicals or anything like a scrubby pad because you don't want to scratch the surface in your efforts to clean it. -

It's almost impossible. The new iMacs have a Target Display Mode, but it's built to do that. Without ripping your screen out, finding an acceptable power supply, frame, and whatever electronics to convert a Thunderbolt signal to the screen, the cost will be much larger than buying a cheaper HiDef monitor that runs with an HDMI to Thunderbolt cable to your MacBook 15. In fact, you can sell your 17" MBP for a lot of money, unless it's broken or something, buying you a really sweet monitor.

I have 3 iPhones, one iPad and 2 PC's, all using the same iTunes account. I want to be able to have each iPhone keep their own list of accounts and music list and the I pad different as well. I want to 2 PC's music list to match. How do I do this?

If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:

After recent update 7.0.3 iPhone 5 started activation after I put in sim and did not accept sim bc of Apple ID of previous owner was still on the iPhone and can't activate it without the previous owner removing the account from find my iPhone .

No, you first use common sense then you put it in a company IT policy document. So you are saying that you cannot create an Apple ID for each individual, because it is a hassle? So I guess it is also a hassle to create company email accounts because there are many people "coming and going"?
Have the IT department create an Apple ID for each user with a "temporary" password. Then the user can change it. Once the emplyee leaves, he turns in his phone and gives the password to IT so they can deactivate his Activation lock and reset the phone. Or do what razmee209 has suggested.
I guess the above might be a problem in your company where it is apparent that people are getting run over by buses all of the time and dying every hour. -

How do I remove my iPhone 4S from my iCloud account. I now have an iPhone 6+ and it lists both phones. Managing my account doesn't allow for this action.
Remove it from where exactly ?
If its backup then you should be able to do it in a device via Settings > General > Storage > Manage Storage > 'device'
If you want to want to log it out of your iCloud account then you can do it directly on the device > Settings > iCloud > Sign Out (or Delete Account depending upon its iOS version). Or if you have Find My iPhone enabled on it then you can log into your account in http://www.icloud.com and send a remote wipe message to the phone to put remove all content from it -

Hi all gurus.
This must be the most silly question so far in the forum but I have to ask again: How do you remove a picture from a theme?
I uploaded a background picture for the Masthead Function Area but now I want to remove it. Since the correspodning field is blank when you go into the editor you can't erase the picture's URL
What you can do is to browse to, and choose, a new picture and then erase the URL in the field. The mentioned area is then actually emptied and the color set in the field "Background Color of Masthead Function" is shown.
But, and here is the problem, when you save the theme the picture is back again! Isn't there the possibility to show the background color, for which there is a field, instead of a picture? Do I really have to upload a picture just containing the color I want to have??? If so, that must be one of the most stupid functionaliteis I have seen in the portal so far, indeed...
I'm most grateful for every suggestion of how to solve this in a decent way and not the idiotic "replace picture with another picture" way.

Unfortunately it didn't help. Their solution with writing "none" in the field is only applicable for those objects where you have a field determening ways of showing the object. There you have the different behaviours like "repeat", "non-repeat" and "none" and there you can write it directly in the field.
The field of which I am talking doesn't have these options and hence not "none". I still tried it though but it didn't work, the picture was back after saving the theme.
