Sum Currency Fields using Workflow Field Update

Trying to have a workflow rule that updates a field "Total Payments" when any of the "Payment" amount fields change.
Created the workflow rule like this:
PRE('<cPayment1_ITAG>')<>[<cPayment1_ITAG>] OR PRE('<cPayment2_ITAG>')<>[<cPayment2_ITAG>] OR PRE('<cPayment3_ITAG>')<>[<cPayment3_ITAG>]
And the Update Field Value rule as follows:
=[<cPayment1_ITAG>]+[<cPayment2_ITAG>]+[<cPayment3_ITAG>]
But it doesn't want to work. Should I use "FieldValue" function for the update rule?

I've seen where people have mentioned using the "=" sign or no "=" sign but I'm not sure most people understand the proper use of when to use it versus when not to. Can anyone elaborate on the cases when an equal sign should be used versus when it shouldn't be used?
I personally would like to have a bit more knowledge regarding these types of idiosyncrasies of the syntax.

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to trigger a workflow only once when a item is updated.
If you want to set it programmatically, I suggest you can create a Yes/NO column called flag firstly with the default value No and set the workflow start option to manually start.
When updating the list item, you can create a ItemUpdated Event Receiver to track the update action, and in the event, you can judge the flag column value, if the value is No, then you can trigger the workflow programmatically and in the end of code set
the code to Yes ,if the value is Yes, then not trigger the workflow.

Having a problem using Workflow to update a field based on ZIP code

I created a Workflow to update a Yes/No picklist called eligibility based on a Text (Short) field called Applicant ZIP code.
It's set to update on the Opportunity page:
Before modified record saved
And the value function is:
IIf(InStr("60601_60602",[<stApplicant_Zip_Code_ITAG>|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/]+)>0,"Yes","No")+
That was a guess of how to try it while relying on my limited MS SQL & Access knowledge.
It does work correctly using what I did. The problem I have is that I actually need to choose from over 600 ZIP codes. The function window only allows for 256 characters. (And I suspect my way is fairly inelegant for search a multi-thousand character string.)
Any suggestions?

Updating multiple fields using a single update statement.

I am a beginner to Oracle. I have used the following Hint in an update query that is executed in Oracle 10G. We recently updated the Oracle to version 11g and when executing the query getting the following Error: ORA-01779: cannot modify a column which maps to a non key-preserved table. PFB the query. Please suggest me some ways that I can do to avoid this error.

I am trying to create a application in OIPM 11g, there we had a option as Add BPEL Workflow. In my workflow the input as a complex type. How to map the complex type. i got only one option "Supporting Content" and beside it Supporting content Key and XPath values. wht values do i need to give there.
The workflow i am using is sample given HelloBPEL process.

please, read this section in the manual: Understanding Workflow Agents - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1)
If I got it right, content key and xpath are required only for Supporting Content (e.g. if you have an image of an invoice, a supporting content can be a purchase order document associated with the invoice).

Could anyone suggest me how to update Lead Status field using workflows since that field not visible at the workflow level. we can update using Lead Qualification Script . Is there any other way other then qualification script. Any help would be appreciated.

The Status field for Lead is a read-only field. The updates you see are done by the system. Workflow cannot update read-only fields.

Ceiling Function in Expression Builder in an Update Field Value Workflow

I'm trying to use the "ceiling" function in an update value workflow. I want to multiple the number value in field A by the currency value in field B and have that new value display in field C. But I also want to round up or ceiling the resulting value to the nearest $0.10. Here is what I want to do, but this is not working. PLEASE HELP.

Hi, I dont think this function is supported in workflow expressions. It is only available in reporting / analytics. Even there it only Rounds a noninteger numerical expression to the next highest integer. Even the function round doesnt seem to be available in workflow functions list

Using WS, you cant update the field value, if it is set as "Read-Only" @ the object - Field definition level, but you can update that using WS if it is set as "Read-Only" @ the layout level. Same applicable to Workflows too

BP extend : how to use FM to update customer specific fields ?

I'm working on a CRM 2007 project and for customer needs, the BP data have been extent with specific fields using EEWB. So specific FMs have been automatically generated to manage the specific data. We want to use these FM to maintain the values of the specific fields. In the EEWB transaction, in the Task BUPA_API for the specific object, 2 FMs have been generated : ZZ1XO_BUPA_MAINTAIN and ZZ1XO_BUPA_MNTN_ALL : we suppose we have to use these FMs to update the values fo this object. This object (customer specific data) is time dependent with gaps and multiple instance. We tried to use these 2 FMs to update values but it does not work : anybody has already used this kind of FMs ?

Normally I use the FM modules generated by the EEWB that contain API to update the data. However keep in mind if this is a Z-Table and you don't like what is provided, then add your own BAPI modules to the BDT function group to update the data.

My requirement is simple. But I do not have much knowledge on BAPI. I have got some information that we can extend th BAPI and update the Z fields in material master. I have added the z fields in MARA. So when I call the bapi z fields has to get update.

Hi,
Append the z fields to BAPI_TE_MARA and BAPI_TE_MARAX structures using append structures.
Populate two structures for the fields in BAPI_TE_MARA and BAPI_TE_MARAX.
To BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA, under EXTENSIONIN parameters, pass structure name as BAPI_TE_MARA and Value Part1, 2, 3, 4 with the filled structure info.
Similarly append X structure as well.

I am trying to get records from database using MS ADODB._connection & ADODB._Recordset objects (from LabVIEW 6)
I can:
1. open connection (with ADODB._connection)
2. write into tables (with ADODB._command)
I can not: gets records and update fields using ADODB._connection & ADODB._Recordset.
I do not know:
1. how to connect between the connection that was opened and the recordset object
2. where I can write the SQL text as input to the recordset

Update User Defined Field using DBDataSource

I'm trying to update the user defined field using the DBDataSource object. However an error occurred - "Item is not a User-Defined Field".
The code used is as follows:

If you haven´t put the field directly in the standard form the user defined fields are in a different form. This form has the same type but with "-" before it.
So so should use this code to get the user defined fields form:
Set oForm = SBO_Application.Forms.GetForm("-139", 1)
Maybe this can be the cause

When you published your infopath form, did you promote the field you are trying to update to a property, and allow updates (its one of the steps in publishing your form, where you pick which fields you want to show as fields in the list view)...
Otherwise, how about get the Item.SPFile object, open it as XML, find the field you want to update, and update it that way...

I have a large RTF template I'm editing in Word, where in I'm duplicating a block with about 120 fields in it. I've copy and pasted the block and now need to update each field to point at a new rowset. For example:

Given at takes about 10 seconds for the "BI Publisher Properties" dialogue to open each time I double-click a field, I hoped to use the Field Browser to speed up this process. I read the documentation and find that if I select a section of my template and then open the Field Browser, it will open containing a list of only those fields so selected, I can then edit a field and save the edit by clicking the "Update" button. However, when you click the "Update" button the list of fields in the Field Browser is refreshed to include every field in the report! Is there a way to prevent this behaviour? Is there a fast way to perform this kind of mass update that I'm missing?

those 2 are the only ways to modify the code as far as i know.
yes i have read what u have written and if use field update method soon u update one field it will show all the fields in in the field browser .
that why if u want to update it without error u can double click on code in field browser and it will open the form field in the template automatically.
else copy your code to a new word document and update your code their using update method in field browser and paste the code in your orginal once the update for the code is done.

Check the documentation of the function module BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA. There is a parameter in the FM - EXTENSIONIN where in new fields added to the table can be used to be updated.
The documentation of that parameters tells you how this can be achieved.
Create 2 structures of the type BAPI_TE_MARA and BAPI_TE_MARAX
Now assign the field structure of the workarea of type BAPIPAREX. Assume gs_extensionin is of type BAPIPAREX and gs_bapi_te_mara is of type BAPI_TE_MARA (this should have the fields that have been added in the table)
gs_extensionin-structure = 'BAPI_TE_MARA'.
gs_extensionin-valuepart+0(18) = gs_bapi_te_mara-matnr.
gs_extensionin-valuepart+18(length of the new field) = ga_bapi_te_mara-<new field added in the structure>.
append gs_extensionin to gt_extensionin.
gs_extensioninx-structure = 'BAPI_TE_MARAX'.
gs_extensioninx-valuepart+0(18) = gs_bapi_te_mara-matnr.
gs_extensioninx-valuepart+18(1) = 'X'..
append gs_extensioninx to gt_extensioninx.
Now pass these tables gt_extensionin and gt_extensionx to the parameters extensionin and extensioninx of the function module BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA.
Also try searching SDN using Extending BAPI's
