Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to trigger a workflow only once when a item is updated.
If you want to set it programmatically, I suggest you can create a Yes/NO column called flag firstly with the default value No and set the workflow start option to manually start.
When updating the list item, you can create a ItemUpdated Event Receiver to track the update action, and in the event, you can judge the flag column value, if the value is No, then you can trigger the workflow programmatically and in the end of code set
the code to Yes ,if the value is Yes, then not trigger the workflow.

    Hello all,
    We have an urgent client requirement to create material master using workflow.
    Different views for the material master will be created by the relevant departments.
    ex: Accouting 1, 2 will go to accounts deptt.
    I have studied the workflow tutorial  (20 units) on <b>SAP help</b> for leave of absence and have some understanding of objects, methods, bindings etc
    I am however finding it very difficult to define the steps to create a workflow for material master. Are there any standard steps already defined that i can use.
    Any help/inputs will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    You need to speak to a workflow consultant.
    You can get workflow to do many things (including creating a material master) but it takes a lot of coding and design.
    For those of you who think that workflow is just used for the standard SAP workflow tasks, you have to realise that workflow is far more powerful and far more useful than many people think.
    It is always referred to as "Event triggered messaging" but it is more accurate to call it "Event triggered events".
    Within workflow you can chain together many different transactions and or ABAPS and so you can get it to do virtually anything you want (as long as you know how).
    In this case you need the workflow to trigger an ABAP or BTCI session etc. that works through the MM01 transaction. It is relatively easy to get it to do this, but I am not technical enough to be able to help with the steps involved (sorry)

    Hi all,
    Iam new to workflows. I have been reading the documents on Workflows on SDN and few  other sites.
    I want to know whether we can create a production order using Workflows. If so, How we need to
    pass necessary data like Material, Plant, Order type, Quantity and Basic Start date/ Basic finish date to
    the Workflows? I have idea about Business objects, Events,Step types and  overview of the workflow
    terminology and pracitced few examples on workflows. Can anybody help me  please?

    I dont know about standard existing workflows available for your requirement as mentioned in one of the posts here. so you better check the availale standard first and then decide if you want to build a customised one
    and wat i told you is wat u need to do if you go for a customising one................ first of all identify what abap you are going to write to create your prodcution order. either its BAPI or BDC whatever.......maybe you create your own function module for doing that stuff...............then you extend the busines object of the prod order , then you add another method in it and call your function module in this method.........
    ok now you create activity step in your workflow that you have already made with all the start events and things like that.........this activity step will have a task that calls this new method of yours..... .
    you need to know some basic fundamentals of workflow for doing all this and if its your first time then it wil take some time.......

  • Problem in creating new field using AET

    We are facing a problem while creating a new field using AET.

    Im following this blog while creating the new field using AET.
    After filling all the field details and trying to create a Transport request its going for a runtime error.
    The error is happening in class  CL_CRM_GENIL_AXT_API
    method get_editable_properties.
      data lr_field_ext type ref to cl_genil_field_extension.
      field-symbols <axt_field_extension> type gtype_field_extension.
      data lr_fieldext_ref type ref to if_axt_field_ext_access.
      read table axt_field_extension_tab assigning <axt_field_extension> with key ext_bo       = is_key-ext_bo
                                                                              ext_bo_part  = is_key-ext_bo_part
                                                                              extension_id = is_key-extension_id.
      lr_field_ext = <axt_field_extension>-axt_extension.
      if sy-subrc = 0.
    While Debugging we can see that the table axt_field_extension_tab  is having zero values during the last execution.
    But the Zfield is getting generated and the status is in green.
    Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

    the reason that AET does not work is because there is/are missing entries in one of DB table.
    Namely the enhance BO assignment to the UI Object Type.
    Could you please tell me, what is the UI Object Type in you current IC application.
    In order to figure this out, you can put mouse cursor in one of the field in the UI and then press F2.
    Then you can go to SM30 in SAP GUI open the View BSPDLCV_OBJ_TYPE and search for the UI object type.
    Select the UI object type and see whether any enhanced BO is defined.
    In your case it should be empty, otherwise you can use AET in IC.
    And if it is empty we need to figure out which enhanced BO is relevant for the given UI Object Type.

  • Can I create calculated fields using formscentral on a locally created, fillable PDF form?  If so, how?

    I am using Acrobat XI Pro to build a fillable PDF form that can be used by customer who have Adobe Reader installed.  I would like to create calculated fields, including the summation of two or more currency fields and the product of a currency and number field.  The procedure for creating these escapes me.  Does anyone have any insight?

    thankyou! - yes it seems though I was using the text tool when I had this problem: When I had created a few fields in the 'form edit' mode I then may later have added some normal 'comment' fields of text in the normal mode to highlight certain aspects on a form - I used the text tool thinking that was the right way in to add or edit text - I can now see I double click with the hand tool to still be able to access any text field I want to. Yay!
    Many thanks for your kind assistance - I shall try this method later on a new form I was trying to create and which was giving me grief.
    One last thing then: what is that default text field that can't be deleted actually for - why is it there? After all, a 'blank pdf' should surely be a truly blank pdf? Perhaps this is one for mighty Adobe....?

  • Creating a field or workflow that responds to the Current System Date.

    In our activities/tasks we have a field that is the Expected Completion Date or Required Completion Date. Based on that date, and the current date, I want a workflow to trigger when the required completion date is less than 30 days away, sending daily reminders to the owner/manager that they have a activity/task due.
    The way I see it I have two options.
    1. Customize a field to be the system date. Create a workflow that says every time that field changes, and the date is within 30 days of required completion date, send out an email.
    2. Create a workflow that somehow incorporates the current/system date, and do the same thing as above, substituting the field with the actual date.
    I don't know how to make either of those options happen. Does anyone either have other options or advice on how to make this work?

    Here is an idea that could be done:
    You could create a dynamic step by having a step that holds all the properties for both configurations (the superset of the necessary variables) and an extra one that indicates which 'mode' the step is in.  Then you create the main Edit substep in whichever language you desire.  That substep window will then have a box/dropdown/etc. at the top you can use to choose between modes A & B.  When the user changes the value, you would dynamically change the rest of the window to contain the appropriate properties for mode A or B.  You then copy the property values in that window to the Step properties, and copy the mode to your variable and you can run the step in that mode.  When the step then runs, it checks the mode variable, and depending on its value, it will run the step in mode A or B.
    Now we could add a dialog that allows us to choose when we put a step down but we should still allow the user to change later via the Edit substep we create.
    I don't think we can create something that inserts a completely different step, but we can have one step that has the ability to do both and we can pick which one we execute.  Also note we still don't have the ability to edit the Panels for a step, so we have to use a new window that we call from our Edit substep to complete the step.

  • Sum Currency Fields using Workflow Field Update

    Trying to have a workflow rule that updates a field "Total Payments" when any of the "Payment" amount fields change.
    Created the workflow rule like this:
    PRE('<cPayment1_ITAG>')<>[<cPayment1_ITAG>] OR PRE('<cPayment2_ITAG>')<>[<cPayment2_ITAG>] OR PRE('<cPayment3_ITAG>')<>[<cPayment3_ITAG>]
    And the Update Field Value rule as follows:
    =[<cPayment1_ITAG>]+[<cPayment2_ITAG>]+[<cPayment3_ITAG>]
    But it doesn't want to work. Should I use "FieldValue" function for the update rule?

    I've seen where people have mentioned using the "=" sign or no "=" sign but I'm not sure most people understand the proper use of when to use it versus when not to. Can anyone elaborate on the cases when an equal sign should be used versus when it shouldn't be used?
    I personally would like to have a bit more knowledge regarding these types of idiosyncrasies of the syntax.

    Goto the transaction EEWC for setting the system type as development system. This has to be done before you carry out the enhancement.
    1. First go to TCode "EEWB".
    2. Create the Project and save the same.
    3. Open the project and right click on it and create the extension.
    4. Give some suitable name and description for your extension.
    5. Select the business object for enhancement(for e.g. business transaction orBP).
    6. Select the extension type (for e.g.adding new fields).
    7. Based on the above selected parameters a wizard will appear.
    8. Complete the steps as per wizard.
    9. And finally generate the project
    Note: Make sure that you check the systems relevant(R/3 or BW)

    Per my understanding, you might want to set default value for the “Business Unit” column by looking up to another list.
    You can apply
    JavaScript with Client Object Model to the NewForm.aspx page to meet your requirement.
    A possible solution can be like this: When user opens the NewForm.aspx page of the current list, the custom JavaScript will be executed to get information about the
    current user, then query the other list for the default value, set the value to the drop down list of the “Business Unit” column dynamically. The JavaScript can be added into a Content Editor Web Part and insert into the NewForm.aspx page.

    The Status field for Lead is a read-only field. The updates you see are done by the system. Workflow cannot update read-only fields.

  • Create document set by workflow based on external list

    Hello,
    I'm wondering if the following is possible:
    I have a external list with all my projects.
    Next to that i have an document library where i place all the documents about the projects in document sets. Is it possible to automatically create the document sets based on the external list?
    So when a new record is created in the database (External list) it automatically creates a document set. (The document sets have an external data column which refers to the projects external data)
    I was thinking of an workflow, but i don't know how to accomplish this. I'm just a beginner with SharePoint.

    Hi Experts,
    i am new to workflow.
    i have a requirement to Create a Article using workflow. i am using BO BUS1001006. and my requirement is to fill the data in mm01 with different agents.
    Now my main problem is now how can we give a user only BASIC DATA screen of MM01 and 2nd user only MRP data screen and 3rd so on.... i.e BASIC DATA input guy should not have access to MRP and vice versa..hope u understood.
    How to Achieve this requirement. can you please explain.

    You might want to talk to the MM and/or authorization guys - they should know this stuff. This is hardly a workflow issue (at least at this point). Do few searches here in SCN with key words "material master", "screen sequences", "authorization roles" or "restrict material master views" etc. and that should bring you to the right direction.

    I think you can use the WAIT workflow using Duration('P90D') then Send Email, triggering it upon save and upon modification. Make sure that the Re-evaluate Rule Conditions After Wait option is checked so that the previous WAIT would be reset upon modification.

    I created a field in the task form which is of choice type and
    unchecked allow blank values
    because i  wanted that field to be a mandatory field.When i handled that task ,i was able to complete that task
    without selecting that mandatory field.But, I was expecting not to allow me to complete the task without selecting that field. Kindly  tell me how to set the choice field as mandatory.

    This is by design that
    Workflow-generated form (for action Collect data from User) does not perform validation properly on drop-down choices, the workaround is to use JavaScript to perform the field validation.

  • Contact record not pupulated when Task created using Workflow.

    Hi All
    I am using workflow to create Tasks when new Serivce Records have been created. When the Service Record is created and the Contact field is linked to a Contact record, the Contact does not carry through to the Task record created by the workflow. I have noticed that when I add the Task manually to the SR that the Contact record does carry through so is there something I need to add to my workflow?
