Sun Server Is working Slow

Hi,
Is There Any one Using Sun Server For their Web Apps. Please guide me in the following Issue:
I am using J2EE 1.4 Server.
I have More Than 250 users Accessing the server at the same time So I made the thread pool size as 400 and also the jdbc connection pool size as 400 but what happens is at some times the server is getting hanged and it works very slow at times its not able to retrieve any page.So anyone Please help me to fix this issue.
Regards,
R.Ramesh.

Can you post the stack trace of threads during the hang. You can use "jstack" tool available with jdk

  • Server is too slow

I have oracle 9i database on sun solaris OS
    IBM server.
    2GB RAM
    4 hard disk
45 users are login in to the system.
Its almost dead slow and some time user get out from the system. It is almost in hold sitution.
When ever we restart the server all the process clear and works properly. After some time its started slow and performance got detoriate.
gradualy its gets slow by the time and one point time it is dead slow and takes 30 min to commit transaction.which takes 20 sec at normal time. When i restart server it works normaly but gradually it gets slow again.
please write some procedure to checkup
    database configuration is standard

You should use statspack to check what are the main waits.
    Some indicators to check :
    - too many fts/excessive IO => check sql statements (missing index, wrong where clause)
    - explain plan for most important queries : using cbo or rbo ? If cbo, statistics should be up to date. If rbo, check acces path.
-excessive logfile switch (> 5 per hour) : increase logfile or disable logging
    - undo waits => not enough rollback segments (if you don't set AUM)
    - data waits => alter initrans, pctfree, pctused
    - too many chaining rows => rebuild set of datas or rebuild table
    - too many levels in indexes => rebuild index
    - excessive parsing : use bind variable or alter parameter cursor_sharing
    - too many sort on disks => increase sort_area_size and create others temporary tablespace on separate disks
    - too many blocks reads for a row => db_block_size too few or too many chaining rows
    - too many lru contention => increase latches
    - OS swapping/paging ?
    Too improve performance :
    - alter and tune some parameters : optimizer_mode, sort_area_size, shared_pool_size, optimizer_index_cost_adj, db_file_multiblock_read_count...
    - keep most useful packages in memory
    - gather regularly statistics (if using cbo)
How do your users access to the db ?

  • Cannot find any information on this Sun Server I just got

Hi, Just got this Sun Server and I cant find in the Sun knowledgebase or support section.
The box is approx 50cm x 50 cm and 6cm high.
On the back it has 2 Network ports, Lom Serial A & B ports and a pci card with 4 Lan ports.
Font face plate states Webshield eppliance.
Label on back states: Compliance model number: FJ1A and Part Number 263-0819-01.
I have tried hookin up to the serial port with a RJ45 to db9 cable but nothing happens. Perhaps I have the wrong terminal settings entered.
Maybe this unit is known by another name. I would really like to find all the relevant user guides and how-to documents though.
    Any help appreciated.
    Henyak

A brief Google search suggests that Network Associates may have acquired a bunch of systems and remanufactured and re-labelled them as their own product. That means it no longer would be a Sun system, but is a Network Associates' product.
If indeed it is a 1U formfactor as you described, then the closest comparable Sun system might be the Netra T1 105 (360MHz or possibly 440MHz cpu).
Go to Docs.Sun.Com and get the T1 105's documentation and see if you can make it work.
I hope you didn't pay very much - in fact almost nothing.
    It's old and slow.
Solaris 8 would be about the newest OS that wouldn't burden it with overhead.

Also - my battery has been telling me "service battery" for a LONG time and then it switched to "replace soon" som time ago. Can't really see what this has to do with anything but whatever.
That could conceivably explain all the problems you're describing. Replacing a Mac's battery should not be postponed since a failed battery will cause other problems to occur. It is also possible that its hard disk has failed, which means the information on it may soon become unrecoverable.
... my latest TM back up was from April 2014, can I just run this when I have rescued everthing and then it might not be as slow?
If that Time Machine backup remains intact, it may be the only viable means of recovering that Mac's information. I suggest you do not attempt to restore its contents to your ailing Mac.
Given that you are having trouble creating a newer Time Machine backup you should stop using that Mac immediately and have it serviced as soon as you are able. Do not take it to anyone other than Apple or a service facility authorized by Apple, for the very reasons you explained. If there are no Apple Stores in your vicinity search for an Authorized Apple Service Provider using the Contact Us link below. Use one of the options that appear under Contact Apple Support. The language on that page will be different for your location.

  • 10.5.5 break anti-virus mail server stops working

We updated to 10.5.5 and suddenly our server stopped forwarding mail.
I noticed in the logs that the anti-spam and anti-virus (clamav etc.) were failing to update and run. The server was brutally slow. I turned off the anti-virus checks and everything is working again after two days of searching.
Any idea what broke and how a newbie could fix it?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

I've had to turn off virus scanning to get any forwarding done.
The spam filter is working but the server grinds to a halt every few minutes, then catches up. Like it's trying something, gives up, and then goes back to work for a bit until it tries again.
The server is running web services and mail forwarding to the University only.
Our firewall restricts outgoing (internet) from the server only accepting incoming requests. That way if it gets hacked it can't attack anyone. We're able to run mac updates via the University software update server (local outgoing is allowed).
Thank you again for any help you can offer.

  • Oracle VM 3 with SUN SERVER X3

    Dear All Experts,
Is it possible to run Oracle VM 3 with SUN SERVER X3 has only 2 hard disks using local storage?
If can, how to do it? please kindly share this experience?
    Thanks and regards,
    Vandy

Booting to a USB-thumb-drive won't be a redundant OS mirror but that sounds like a good idea & that would be one way to do it. Solid State USB drives are likely more reliable than HDD but they do also fail (or maybe wear out & become read-only). Worst case you hopefully could just reinstall the OS on a new USB and your data would still be recoverable.
Speaking of adding disks, if the BIOS/MB supports it you may also be able to add a USB-3.0 HDD. USB-2.0 may also be an option but would be slower. For my Dev environment I added multiple USB-3.0 7200rpm 4TB drives and they give me some piece of mind and provide decent performance for backups for my Dev environment (I clone to them to give extra layer of back up).
I don't know if you can mirror 2 USB drives nor have I tried removing them and rotating them but both might be options (haven't though much about nor tried to do either yet).

  • Trying to get simple UDP Server to work

    Hello
I am trying to get a simple UDP Server to work. I have written the Server and a Client and upto a point the program works. I can make a request from the client and the Server sees this and sends its own response. The problem is the client doesn't seem to receive this response. The error I get is 'java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Receive timed out'.
    Below is the code for the Server;
            while (true) {
                try {
                    for (i = 0; i < sendBuffer.length; i++)
                        sendBuffer[i] = 0;

                    return;
}I have tested the Client against another UDP Server and this works, so I believe it is something in my Server code causing the problem.
If anyone has a solution to this problem I would really appreicate their help.

If you're trying to connect to a Bonjour server on the remote network, that won't work over a layer 3 VPN. Use something like Hamachi or one of the SSH-tunnelling Bonjour proxy apps for that.

  • I've only had my iphone 5s for a week. I keep getting an error message of "Server has stopped responding."  I need the server to work. Does anyone know if there is a "fix" for the problem? Other wise, I probably best return for a refund and get a Samsung.

Unlikely.  Based on the complete lack of detail of the issue provided it is entirely possible the same issue would occur.
Unless and until the user provides some actual details of the problem, there is nothing the indicate that the issue is with the iPhone.

  • PHP Local Testing Server Not Working!

    Hi Guys,
I've just set up my PHP local testing server, although its not working properly! If you could help that would be so wonderful!
    Here is my current settings:
    Local Site Folder: C:\XAMPP\htdocs\valsoo\
    Web URL: http://localhost/valsoo/
    Server Folder: C:\XAMPP\htdocs\valsoo\
    Local/Network
    Server Model: PHP MySQL
I'm testing the 'local testing server' with a file called site_check.php which works in the Local Site Folder root (C:\XAMPP\htdocs\valsoo\site_check.php) but fails to work when the file is within folders (C:\XAMPP\htdocs\valsoo\lesson01). Not all files work in the root either. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
    Thanks so much!

If site_check.php works, your local testing server is working.
What do you mean when you say that it fails to work when the file is in a folder, such as lesson01? What actually happens? What sort of files don't work in the root? Without more details, it's impossible to help.
If site_check.php is in C:\XAMPP\htdocs\valsoo\lesson01, you should be able to access the file through http://localhost/valsoo/lesson01/site_check.php.

  • Will Office Web Apps Server 2013 work with SharePoint 2013 sites hosted in SP2010 compatibility mode?

We are planning a upgrade of a SP2010 farm to 2013. There has been a bit of customization so we wish to run the old sites on the new SP2013 platform in SP2010 compatibility mode.
So my question is will Office Web Apps Server 2013 work with the old sites hosted in compatibility mode?
I found a similar query from March 2014 found here
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/93101/office-web-apps-2010-running-on-sharepoint-2013-for-compatibility-mode-sites/116281#116281
Has there been an update released to resolve this
    Cheers D

    Hi  ,
According to your description, my understanding is that you need to know whether Office Web Apps 2013 is working with SharePoint 2013 sites which is in SharePoint 2010 compatibility mode.
For my test, Office Web Apps 2013 with SharePoint 2013 sites which is in SharePoint 2010 compatibility mode is working fine.
    Thanks,
    Eric

  • How can I get the iCal server to work correctly?!

We are a business that uses Apple software and products for everything! For a while we've been having an issue with iCal - it seems when an invite is sent we are unable to accept, we click 'accept' but the message is never sent, so then it looks like we're ignorning the request (which of course can look un professional). We have approached various IT companies and all they seemt o sugegst is using a different Mail Server (such as Kerio, Exchange etc) as a fix, which of course is quite costly, especially when we believe, that iCal should be  able to work effectively for a growing business.
We've deleted users from the server, added them back on...the only way they can accept invites is if they keep it on the local calendar, which of course isn't any good to us as we share the calendars, therefore it needs to be on the server.
I'm really hoping there is something someone out there can tell me to help us! I am loosing hope and I am reluctant to fork out for such costly solutions as Kerio when I know iCal server can work. Please help! If you need any further information please let me know.
    Thanks

One product that I have used, when there is a poorly formed AVI header is Digital Video Repair (cannot recall if it is freeware, or shareware), BUT it is likely that your file's header was NEVER written, so no amout of "repair" will succeed. Still, might be worth a try?
With many AVI's, the header often comes first, where with some other formats, like MPEG-2 and WMV, the header is the last part of the file. Could be that the header of the AVI is just incorrect, such as with the Duration. Only a test will determine if you can repair the file.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

In future, please try to make the subject line of your posts shorter. In this case the following would have been sufficient: "JavaScript works locally, but not on remote server".
Short, but meaningful subject lines make it easier for others to identify what your question is about, and often bring faster help.

  • I updated my iphone 4S with iOS 6.1.3 and now my e-mails say, "This message has not been downloaded from the server".  We have an Exchange server at work.  ??

I updated my iphone 4S with iOS 6.1.3 and now I cannot retreive or send my e-mails.  We have an Exchange server at work.  I still receive the e-mails on all my devices just fine and I can see the subject headings & a small portion of the body of the e-mail, but when I open the e-mails there is no body and it reads, "This message has not been downloaded from the server".  Very aggrevating and is not helping my business at ALL!!  Same has happened with both iPads we own now.

Delete then add back the exchange acct on each device.
