SVM - "Unavailable" devices, destroyed SVM config

I have a Solaris 10 host with mirrored SVM volumes that seems to have destroyed its SVM config. We rebooted and all the metadbs on two of the disks came up bad, and none of the DBs were online so the system came up in single user mode due to insufficient replicas:

So, what in the heck happened here?
We have a twin of this host with exactly the same OS installation, physical hardware, and metadevices, and it's fine. I did discover one difference between the two hosts - the host with the SVM problem was mistakenly booted with local-mac-address?=false and has the two network interfaces set up to multipath, so the network connection was flapping. But that shouldn't cause disk problems?
The two disks in question are 300GB SCSI disks, Fujitsu MAW3300NC - not official Sun disks.

  • How to make the PAP2 device take our configs as factory default

    Hy there
I work to an ISP and i want to know how do i make an default configuration for our PAP2 devices.
I want to make that config as factory default.
    thank you

If you are referring to resetting the PAP2 back to factory defaults, then try this:
    http://www.sipura.com/Documents/faq/Section_3.html#4
But if you mean using a tool to get the default settings, then I’m assuming you are in search for a provisioning tool mostly used by VoIP providers to configure the device.
    http://www.sipura.com/Documents/faq/Section_1.html#11
I think this will also be applicable to the PAP2, but the problem here is you can’t get that tool too easily.

  • Emu 1616m pcmcia cardbus driver installation errors: this device is not config correctly (code1)

Hi, can anyone help, I use a 1616m pcmcia card bus in my dell inspiron laptop, its been working fine no errors for the last year, then suddenly today, I go to use it and no sound, and my DSP reds out, and it states my hardware or drivers my need re-installing. So I have un-installed all software, drivers etc, Then when I insert the pcmcia card bus in, it reconizes it, found new hardware, I tell it to use the driver disc. This is ok, its installing the software, then I get the blue screen of death, crash!. Iv tried it countless times, clearing the registy etc, but if I dont get the blue screen I get an error that my hardware may not work properly blah blah and this error: e-mu e-dsp audio processor (wdm) this device is not configured correctly (code 1).
Do I have to factory reset my laptop and reload everything, days of fun.
Has my well looked after pcmcia card bus broken, just after the year is up!! the irony
Are there better pcmcia controller drivers than: ricoh r5c475(ii) and would they help this issue
does anyone have any ideas please!!

Upon latest reboot, I also received this error message:  "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).  Click OK to terminate the application."
Then I got the iTunesHelper not installed correctly error again.
Then the "Windows can't check for updates" error message.
Then "Apple Push has stopped working."  Then a quick DEP error message that disappeared but said something about Apple Push being closed.
I'm also getting denials of service logged by McAffee.  Not sure if I'm getting a virus/attack or not.
Not sure if it's a problem with my old desktop machine, my Windows Vista updates, or iTunes, but I'm very frustrated and out of ideas to try.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Importance of specifiying MAC add of next hop L3 device in FWSM config

    Hi,
With refrence of Cisco Secure Firewall Services Module (FWSM) of Cisco Press book it's mentioned that
"While configuring the transparent mode in FWSM, it is important to specify the MAC address and the CAM entries on the Layer 3 next hop device of FWSM."
This part of configuration is not very much clear to me please let me know the logic of this things
    The following are two examples:
Layer 3 Device A (PFC) at the Outside Security Domain
! IP address of the next hop for the outside security domain
    interface Vlan20
    mac-address 0000.0000.0001
    ip address 10.10.1.1 255.255.255.0
! Specify the IP address and MAC address at the first hop layer 3 interface
! of the inside security domain
    arp 10.10.1.21 0000.0000.0001 ARPA
Layer 3 Device B at the Inside Security Domain
! IP address of the next hop for the inside security domain
    interface Vlan21
    mac-address 0000.0000.0021
    ip address 10.10.1.21 255.255.255.0
! Specify the IP address and MAC address defined at the first hop interface
! of the outside security domain
    arp 10.10.1.21 0000.0000.0002 ARPA

    Hello Mikis,
Fair enough, Just remember beggining on 8.3 how the ASA handles the packets it's different from 8.2 and older versions.
As you said now the ASA is going to check the proper Nat rules first and then the Acl's that is why when we want to allow traffic from outside to an inside server  we need to poing the ACL to the private or un-nated Ip as the nat rule was taken in place first
    Good post by the way,
Remember to rate all the community answers, for us that is more important than a thanks

  • ANM device importing and config sync - user name authenticatiing via ACS

    Good day,
    We have the following issue:
Switches and ACE modules imported into ANM 3.2. Additional modules added and tried to import. Failed. Tried to sync and recieved the following message for Admin context:
    - Failed to import ACE configuration: Device discovery failed: cannot find the serial number.
All other contexts also fail to sync.
Thought this may be due fact that the user Id used for import is and AD account and this authenticates via ACS to AD and this has expired and changed since original import. Deleted chassis and re-impoted with same user Id and new password and all works fine.
Have checked the links below, however, I don't beleive these will resolve the issue:

I beleive this is occuring due the fact that we are authenticating via ACS to AD for all devices (switches and ACE modules) as well as ANM.
So is the only solution here to create a static user account in ACS and add to relevent NDG's for switches and ACE modules?
Also would we have to have the password never expire as I don't see a way to change/configure this password within ANM apart from when the devices are initially imported?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanking you in advance.

I'm having some slight difficulty importing a pool. I swapped motherboards for an upgrade and the new board didn't have a raid controller so I popped in an LSI 9211-8i I had on the shelf. Previously I was relying on an onboard LSI 1068E chipset

I've been digging for hours now and at first I thought the controller was bad, but now I'm not so sure. I did find some information about multipathing but I'm not sure how relevant it is. From the following doc it looks like the drive names I'm seeing indicate that multipath is enabled and I don't think it was supported by the old controller.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19253-01/820-1931/gfpwh/index.html
I tried turning it off as per the following doc, but either I did something wrong or that's not my problem
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19253-01/820-1931/6ndinfi7t/index.html
I really could use a hand here, if this is a configuration issue, it's at least a little beyond my knowledge
I should probably mention that the drives seem to be detected otherwise if I run format for example
    root@srv-data:~# format

  • JumpStart and SVM mirroring error.

    Hi,
In essence, I am trying to mirror a number of slices on the rootdisk and rootmirror. Most cases I have tried work, except when I try and mirror
    c0t1d0s6 to c0t0d0s7 or c0t0d0s6 to c0t1d0s7. I can succesfully do c0t0d0s7 to c0t1d0s7 and c0t1d0s7 to c0t1d0s7.
(obviously this may not be best practice, but I don't see any reason I shouldnt be able to do it)
The error below appears spurious as the disk layout is actually identical, even though the error message indicates they are not.
Here is the disk part of the profile causing the issues.

  • CiscoWorks LMS3.2 device selectability in RME Config Management

    Hello
All of a sudden we are unable to select individual devices in RME / Config Management, devices appear grayed out, we are able to select the whole device group and run the job but not individual devices. If we go to Device Center we can select individual devices and perform tasks.
We have tried restarting server (windows) and stopping and starting CW Daemon Manager, not sure what else to look at.
    Thanks in advance.
    carl bagge

Please try to break the integration with the following procedure:
CiscoWorks to local login mode (bring down ACS integration)
    1. Stop the daemon manager using:
    On Windows: net stop crmdmgtd
    On Solaris: /etc/init.d/dmgtd stop
    2. Execute the following script:
    On Windows: NMSROOT/bin/perl ResetLoginModule.pl
    On Solaris:/opt/CSCOpx/bin/ResetLoginModule.pl
    3. Start the daemon manager using:
    On Windows: net start crmdmgtd
    On Solaris: /etc/init.d/dmgtd start.
Note: You must have appropriate privileges on the system
    Windows =  Administrator
    Solaris = root
After this check if you are able to perform all the tasks without being integrated with ACS and then integrate again,  but in CW Common Services>Server>Security>AAA Mode Setup, please do not check the Application Registration box.

  • VSC 5.0 Discovery fails to find all SVMs

Virtual Storage Console (VSC) 5.0 will not discover all of the Clustered ONTAP 8.2.1 storage virtual machines (SVM) in our vSphere 5.5 environment.  The cluster and two of the three SVM names will appear in the Storage Systems inventory, but we are unable to show the third SVM without a direct connection.  We prefer to use the cluster administrative LIF to take advantage tunneled auto-discovery and avoid any issues from direct connections to the SVM.  The missing SVM has a management LIF and the ontapi (Remote Administrative API Support) web service is enabled (verified on cluster via “vserver services web show”).  We also tried restarting the VSC service per the VSC 5.0 with two ONTAP Clusters discussion. What might we be missing?

Hi, I also had the same issue with VSC 6.0 where the SVM was not being displayed. Here is the solution that worked for me:Check there is a domain-tunnel created for you vserver. EG cluster1>domain-tunnel show If your vserver is not displayed in the output then create a domain-tunnel. EG cluster1>domain-tunnel create -vserver vserver1 /matt

  • How do I deactivate a device that no longer exists?

If you no longer have access to a certain device because it's been destroyed, because the disk has died, because it has been reformatted, or because it for any other reason is completely unrecoverable, how can this device be deactivated? I'm asking mainly because the tabs from the device I no longer have access to keep showing up in the "Tabs from other computers" section, and it's starting to annoy me. If there is currently no way to deactivate an unavailable device, or if the means of doing so is unnecessarily complicated, may I suggest adding a "Device Management" system to Sync?

If you no longer have access to the computer then you might be able to 'de-authorise all' and then re-authorise the computers that you still have and need : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420 . The article says that you can only 'de-authorise all' when you've reached the 5 computer limit, but I think that you might be able to do it if you have just 3 or 4 authorised (or that's what other people have said). Also you can only 'de-authorise all' once every 12 months.

  • (EE)R128(0): No DFP detected && (EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceReques

    Hey all
I've been using arch for a file server for the past couple of months. I'd like to add a vnc server to it for a home away from home kind of thing. When I was testing X11 to see if it worked correctly, I received a number of errors:
          (EE) R128(0): No DFP detected
          error setting MTRR (base = 0xd8000000, size = 0x02000000, type = 1) Inappropriat              e ioctl for device (25)
          (EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceRequest failed (8)
          (EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceRequest failed (8)
          (EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceRequest failed (8)
          (EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceRequest failed (8)
waiting for X server to shut down xterm:  fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) or KillClient on X server ":0.0"
          error setting MTRR (base = 0xd8000000, size = 0x02000000, type = 1) Inappropriate ioctl for device (25)
I believe the problem is that there is no keyboard, mouse or monitor connected to the system. Any ideas on how to overcome this?

First of all: Don't do pacman -Sy when installing packages! It can lead to dependency issues. Just do an -Syu and then a normal -S to install.
Secondly, I think you should have used the "xf86-video-intel" package, instead of cluttering your system with all those drivers.
Thirdly: maybe have a look at this: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg … _Install_X and this: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel
Edit: Ah, forgot: maybe you should try to start X first without the configure step. If everything's set up properly, you may not need a xorg.conf.

  • Sun cluster 3.1 missing device files

Hullo, Iam trying to remove a Filesystem mount point from The HAStorage plus with the command
    scrgadm -c -j foris-hasp-rs -x FileSystemMountPoints="/data7/oradata",
However, the volume associated with the mount point is doesnot exist anymore, and as such the comman files. This has caused to fail as it cannot come online and it complains of failing to mount /data7/oradata
    Any help is welcome.
    Regards
    Adrian

    Answers to the question:
    1) /dev/did/rdsk/d2s2 was used by quorum device, and it comes from the first storage. That means when the first storage is out (d2 and d3), the cluster will be down. if so, how could I bypass it?
Incorrect. The quorum device is passive and is only needed if the cluster membership changes. Check the manual for more details as it's too much to explain it here.
    2) ls -l /dev/did/rdsk, I don't see dX, instead I see dXsX, If I decide to use did device for ASM, how would I know which slice should I use? Or I should not use did device directly for ASM at all?
    3) since quorum device is on d2, I am sure some space was already taken from d2, how would I know how much space left on that LUN? Do I have to create muti-owner device with SVM on d2 and d4 and then mirror them with ASM?
The quorum feature doesn't use any space on the disk. You can use this for data without problems.
In general, it will be far easier if you create shared metaset metadevices and put the OCR, voting disk and ASM data directly on to them.
    4) for OCR and voting disk, I have to create muti-owner device on d2 or d4 to store them. any other options?
    See above.
    5) Which way is prefered? ASM on muti-owner device (configured by SVM) or ASM on DID devices?
ASM on a mirrored SVM device.

  • Device error "sequence contains no matching element"

    Hallo,
I just received the VirtualBench and I could use it as I connect it for the first time. I then downloaded and run the program for Window7, so that I would be able to run the program from my PC.
Since then, I cannot work anymore more with the virtualbench. It always give the same error: device error: sequence contains no matching element.....
What it wronf what shall I do?
Note: I read a similar question, but it seemed that the error disppeared somehow for unexplained reason. So, there were actually no solution mentionned for this problem.
Thanks in advance for any support.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

For anybody that has this problem in the future, we'd really like to get to the root of the problem.  To help with that I have created a small utility that will pull the configurations from your device and save them to files.  These configurations appear to be corrupted in these situations.
The easiest way to use the utility is to run it from the command line.  It will find the first USB VirtualBench on your system and save any configuration files it has to your temporary directory.  For example:
    C:\Users\User\Desktop>nivb_cfgutil.exe
    Saving files to C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp\
    Connecting to device 'vbzach'
    Found config: ni-virtualbench-preferences.vbconfig
    Wrote config to file C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp\ni-virtualbench-preference
    s.vbconfig
    Found config: test_cfg.vbconfig
    Wrote config to file C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp\test_cfg.vbconfig
    Found config: test_cfg2.vbconfig
    Wrote config to file C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp\test_cfg2.vbconfig
It also has some options that allow  you to specify the device to connect to (either by name, IP address, or hostname), where to put the files, and whether or not to overwrite existing files on your PC.  For example:
    C:\Users\User\Desktop>nivb_cfgutil.exe --help
    Usage: nivb_cfgutil.exe [options]
    Main options:
      -h, --help
          Shows help.
      -d, --dev=device
          Device name to target.
      -o, --out=directory
Output directory to save config files.  If not specified, the temporary di
    rectory is used.
      -w, --overwrite
          Overwrite existing files.
What we would like is that when people run into this issue they perform the following steps:
    Attach the application preferences files:
    Open a file explorer
In the address bar, enter this path (copy/paste can help):
    XP: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\National Instruments\NI-VirtualBench
    Vista, 7, 8: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\National Instruments\NI-VirtualBench
Attach the file ni-virtualbench-preferences.vbconfig to a post here so we can inspect it.
Run the nivb_cfgutil.exe utility attached to this post, and post any *.vbconfig files it creates to a post here so that we can inspect it.
Once you have done that, you should be able to fix the issue by doing the following:
Use the reset button on the back. The application also uses information stored on the PC when it starts. If the problem is there, then resetting the device alone won't help.
NI VirtualBench Help :: Reset Button http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371526A-01/vbhelp/wirelessbutton/
Launch the app.  If it works, you're done.
If the issue was not resolved, you may also need to delete the file mentioned above.
    Open a file explorer
In the address bar, enter this path (copy/paste can help):
    XP: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\National Instruments\NI-VirtualBench
    Vista, 7, 8: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\National Instruments\NI-VirtualBench
    Delete the file ni-virtualbench-preferences.vbconfig

I am trying to use netconfig to change the port config on my switches. I want to use an adhoc rule to determine if the port already is configured for 802.1x (authentication port-control auto) authentication and then modify those ports to "authentication open".
    IS that possible?
