[svn] 1038: Reverting Eclipse compiler projects to use 'flex-asc' project
Revision: 1038

Log Message:
Reverting Eclipse compiler projects to use 'flex-asc' project
* Now that we are using builds of asc from trunk/modules/asc, we can/should build/debug in Eclipse using the same sources.
Modified Paths:
flex/sdk/trunk/development/eclipse/java/flex-compiler/.classpath
flex/sdk/trunk/development/eclipse/java/flex-jars/.classpath
flex/sdk/trunk/development/eclipse/java/flex-swfutils/.classpath
This is really becoming a pain since every time I get into FlexBuilder, I have to hit my project and set the required version back to 10.0.0. (It keeps reverting to 9.x) Since I am using the new FileReference enhancements in Flash10, this is mandatory to avoid compiler errors.
I still have no way to automate the build process since there is nothing on the build machine to perform this action.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Log Message:
SDK-15848 - Conditional compilation constants defined in flex-config.xml are never used if a single constant is specified on the command line
* There's a possibility this will break a conditional complication test which disallows overwriting an existing definition -- I don't know if that will break the build, but the test should be removed either way.
* Using append syntax ("-define+=" on the command line or ant tasks, or append="true" in flex-config) and redefining a value works now if you use an already-defined namespace and name.
* So your flex-config may have -define=CONFIG::debug,false, and you may want -define+=CONFIG::debug,true from the commandline build, or FB build.
* Made the ASC ConfigVar fields final as a sanity check since overwriting is now allowed. It would be harder to track changes and subtle bugs if they were mutable. This means that you must build a new ConfigVar object if you need to make changes.
Bugs: SDK-15848
QA: Yes. Please read the updated javadocs in CompilerConfiguration. Tests need to be added to validate that overwriting is allowed, and happens correctly in different situations: I believe the order should be that flex-config is overwritten by a custom config (can we have more than one user config? is the order deterministic? I forget...), is overwritten by commandline or OEM. Did I miss any? (I didn't write code which changes this, it works however the existing configuration system allows overwriting and appending; if we have tests for that, maybe we don't need them duplicated for this feature.)
Doc: Yes. Please read the updated javadocs in CompilerConfiguration.

How do I import Eclipse Help project/pages?
I have an Eclipse Help project with about 100 html topic pages that I created in Eclipse and organized in various folders. However, the editor in Eclipse that I am using is not very advanced and it's quite tedious to manage the help project and cannot easily create other help formats. I want to try RoboHelp 8 as the authoring environment and have it output Eclipse Help (which I hear it can do).
However, I can't find a way to easily import my existing Eclipse Help pages and folder structure. Is there a way to do this without breaking anything (like images or css) or having to go to each page and do some fixing up?
Ideally, I would like some kind of two-way transfer so I can share the project with others on my team using Eclipse to edit the topics; but I realize that may be too much to ask for.Peter, thank you for your reply.
I went ahead and re-created the folder structure and imported the topic pages into each folder. This part seems to work fine. However, I have a few issues:
1) When I double-click on the topic pages they open in Notepad rather than the built-in editor. If I right-click on a topic and choose Edit With Design View, that works, but is quite tedious to do for every page. I also notice that if I make a change to the page in design view and save it, from then on it opens in Design View.
I see that the files that open in Design View have the following markup added:
<meta name="generator" content="Adobe RoboHelp 8" />
Is there a way to have these .html pages always open in Design View by default, at least for this project?
2) I used the instructions here to create Eclipse Help: http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2009/12/how_to_generate_eclipse_help_from_robohelp.html
When I bring up the pages in Eclipse, the ones that I edited using the Design View seem OK (so far), however the ones that were imported from original Eclipse Help format now show this error when I try to view them:
An error occured while processing the requested document:
org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Content is not allowed in prolog.

at java.io.FilterOutputStream.close(Unknown Source)
at org.eclipse.help.internal.webapp.servlet.FilterHTMLHeadAndBodyOutputStream.close(FilterHT MLHeadAndBodyOutputStream.java:311)
Any idea why I am getting this error? I am using the EclipseHelp.jsx that came with RoboHelp 8.0.0.203 (incidentally, the "latest" script file pointed to in the link above actually has an older copyright date so it would not seem that it's the latest). Would solving #1 solve this issue?
3) I set a default topic for my books, which works fine in Web Help. But when I try to view the book in Eclipse, it displays a Contents list instead of the default topic.
Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks in advance,

Add jar for in-memory compilation by Eclipse Compiler
Hi,
I have a question regarding loading a jar file by the compiler to dynamically compile with a source file. I hope someone can probably offer me an idea on what has been missing or wrong with the source codes I have written for my application.
I am using Eclipse compiler to dynamically compile a class. In the class, I want it to make a reference to a jar file for compilation dynamically.
Here is the source of a test class I wrote:
import javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet;
class MyServlet extends HttpServlet {
}The import statement refers to the class javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet from the jar file C:\\Program Files\\Apache Software Foundation\\Tomcat 6.0\\lib\\servlet-api.jar placed in the local file system.
In the method called compileClass (shown below), I used the path of the jar file to add to the option -classpath as suggested in another thread (http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5306520&start=0&tstart=0).
private static CompileClassResult compileClass(Writer out, String className, String classSource) {
try {
JavaCompiler javac = new EclipseCompiler();
StandardJavaFileManager sjfm = javac.getStandardFileManager(null, null, null);
SpecialClassLoader scl = new SpecialClassLoader();
SpecialJavaFileManager fileManager = new SpecialJavaFileManager(sjfm, scl);
List<String> options = new ArrayList<String>();
options.addAll(Arrays.asList("-classpath", "C:\\Program Files\\Apache Software Foundation\\Tomcat 6.0\\lib\\servlet-api.jar"));
List<MemorySource> compilationUnits = Arrays.asList(new MemorySource(className, classSource));
DiagnosticListener<JavaFileObject> diagnosticListener = null;
Iterable<String> classes = null;
if (out == null) {
out = new PrintWriter(System.err);
JavaCompiler.CompilationTask compile = javac.getTask(out, fileManager, diagnosticListener, options, classes, compilationUnits);
boolean res = compile.call();
if (res) {
//Need to modify the api to return an array of two elements - one classes and other bytecodes for all classes in the same class file.
return CompileClassResult.newInstance(scl.findClasses(), scl.findByteCodes());
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
return null;
}I also extended the class ForwardingJavaFileManager as suggested in the thread mentioned above and have it delegated to the StandardJavaFileManager sent to the compiler mentioned in the method compileClass above. The extended class (called SpecialJavaFileManager) is as follows:
public class SpecialJavaFileManager extends ForwardingJavaFileManager<StandardJavaFileManager> {
private SpecialClassLoader xcl;
public SpecialJavaFileManager(StandardJavaFileManager sjfm, SpecialClassLoader xcl) {
super(sjfm);
System.out.println("SpecialJavaFileManager");
this.xcl = xcl;
public JavaFileObject getJavaFileForOutput(Location location, String name, JavaFileObject.Kind kind, FileObject sibling) throws IOException {
System.out.println("getJavaFileForOutput");
MemoryByteCode mbc = new MemoryByteCode(name);
xcl.addClass(name, mbc);
return mbc;
public Iterable<JavaFileObject> list(JavaFileManager.Location loc, String pkg, Set kinds, boolean recurse) throws IOException {
System.out.println("list ");
List<JavaFileObject> result = new ArrayList<JavaFileObject>();
for (JavaFileObject f : super.list(loc, pkg, kinds, recurse)) {
System.out.println(f);
result.add(f);
return result;
}I run the application and the result shows that it didn't load the jar file into the memory as expected. From the output (below) I got, it doesn't seem to invoke the method list(...) in the class SpecialJavaFileManager.
SpecialJavaFileManager

Thanks.
JonathanHi jschell,
I read the thread referred to by the link you gave and tried to add the path using the setLocation method:
JavaCompiler javac = new EclipseCompiler();
StandardJavaFileManager sjfm = javac.getStandardFileManager(null, null, null);
SpecialClassLoader scl = new SpecialClassLoader();
List<File> path = Arrays.asList(new File("C:\\Program Files\\Apache Software Foundation\\Tomcat 6.0\\lib\\servlet-api.jar"));
sjfm.setLocation(StandardLocation.CLASS_PATH, path);
SpecialJavaFileManager fileManager = new SpecialJavaFileManager(sjfm, scl);After I run the file with the change, I still didn't get the compiler to read the jar the file.
Anyone knows how to solve this issue?
Thank you.

Unable to Detach Database in a Compiled Project - Labview 7.1
We have recently left our customer, running a compiled version Labview 7.1 project. Since running the compiled project he cannot perform his Historical Data Back-up. The following error is reported:
"This operation cannot be completed because the resource is in use by another Client
Archive 09Sep08 (archive name) - Failed to detach associated relational database"
Any guidance and advice would be greatly appreciatedHello Neil,
I have had a look at other instances where we have come across a similar issue. Here is some information that I found:
Microsoft's ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) are used for accessing data sources. They provide a means of accessing data stores. Although your program runs quite quickly, there must be an ADO connection in the background still running, and the connection does not get closed until some timeout occurs within ADO so that you can have access.
The short-term workaround might be to wait an extra minute or so before detaching the database in your code.
I hope that this will help,
Please do let me know how it goes,
Kind Regards,
Michael S.

Hi,
I am trying to finish a project. Where I have to send out data to TLC5940-chips (shift-register-led-drivers).
I tried to implement the needed function by using the FPGA-module. I attached my code.
But if I try to compile the code I get the attached error message, which isn't changing wheter I am compiling localy or using the NIs
I tried disabling different parts of the code but without any change to the log which seems to matter.
Do you have any Idea what is causing this? Bad programming style?
Greetings

as Jens already mentioned. When the error occurs locally AND on the compile cloud server there should be an error in the VI.
If you could upload the project we might be able to help better.

Wish To Use Flex 2 For My University Project
Dear All
I am a mature student studying a Computer Science Degree in
the UK .
For my final year project, I am creating a Stock Market
Simulation with a Database back end (e.g. SQLite ?) and some kind
of front end, both to be run a a stand-alone machine.
I have a 28 weeks to design, build and run it for my
supervisors. I would like to push myself academically by building
the software using Flex 2, for the GUI and even to carry out any
calculations or processing needed for the simulation to operate
correctly.
My questions are
1) Is it possible to create the simulation as I can find no
definitive way to connect Flex 2 directly to a database back end in
a similar way to ADO.net?
2) If it is possible which book do you recommend to get the
best and quickest results out of Flex 2?
Thanks In Advance
StevenYou are correct, Flex does not natively connect to any
database. Further, security restrictions on both the browser and
the Flash Player prevent access to *any* client resources, such as
the filesystem.
So if you use standard Flex, you will need some back-end web
technology. This can be almost any platform/language you choose.
Now, the newest, coolest thing in the Adobe world is AIR. AIR
applications can be written using Flex, Flash, HTML and javascript,
and have full access to client asseets. AIR is essentially an

Compile errors when using stlport4
Hi,
I have a large code that I am compiling using SunStudio12 and stlport4 (that comes with the compiler).
It has other libraries (ACE, boost, in-house libs) that we link it with. All of these libs were built using the SunStudio12 and stlport4. When I am linking with my program, I get the following errors. Can you pls explain why?
Linking CXX executable AgoraConnectionTest
cd /home/sherugu1/ndev/HermesAPI/trunk/HermesCpp/hermes/Tests/AgoraConnectionTest && /home/sherugu1/cmake-2.6.2-SunOS-sparc/bin/cmake -E cmake_link_script CMakeFiles/AgoraConnectionTest.dir/link.txt --verbose=1

The list of errors goes on like this in multiple places.
To me, it looks like I am using both stlport and standard STL. How do I tell the linker to use only stlport? Am I missing something?
CC_FLAGS are: -DSOLARIS -DPOSIX_PTHREAD_SEMANTICS -D_VMT -DT_SUN4_SOLARIS -DUNIX -KPIC -DACE_NDEBUG -D_ACE_56_ -D_REENTR
ANT -DACE_NDEBUG -D_PTHREADS -mt -library=stlport4
Pls help!
Rgds,
SreeniThe links are there, but not pointing to /usr/lib. Yes, I installed the tarball into /home/cdev/SunStudio12 directory. I dont have root privileges to install any other way. To avoid the delay and the paper work it takes to get the SA install the compiler, I just used to tarball since the Sun website said it was OK to do that. Pls advise.
This is what I have in the directory you mentioned.
