Swf animation runs incorrectly in captivate 6

I created a simple maze game with question gates in Flash CS6 which runs fine in the flash player, but when I import it into captivate 6, the player runs through the walls.  Any ideas why?

Here I go again.
I found the solution in these forums. Here it is:

Lesson learned: I need to improve my searching skills, need to think of right keywords. I guess this is the second time (in as many months) I am making the mistake of asking a query without searching the forum properly.

  • SWF Animations Run at Startup - Before Reaching Imported Screen?

    Hello,
    I imported a simple swf animation into captivate. The animation runs smooothly enough. However, the problem is that the animation which is on screens 3 has already finished playing by the time the user reach that screen???
    I read some of the posts and could not find a solution to this preculiar.
    Does anyone have any input that might address this issue?
    I'm using Captivate 5 (eLearning Suite 2).
    Thank You
    iaustin

    Hello,
    Perhaps, If the only problem, is that the animation might loaad on a new window on --OPEN File or URL option, you can get around that by defining, that it should continue playing on the same window.
    Like this--
    Alternately you can assign an Advance Action to --
    Enable Object SWF on Slide Enter 3. And similarly keep it disabled on Slide --On Enter for Slide 1st and 2nd.
    Thanks,

  • Flash swf not running properly in captivate

    Hi,
    I'm not sure if this is a flash question or a captivate question so I'm posting it to both forums. I have numerous flash cs5 built swfs inserted into a captivate 5 project. All of them are running fine apart from this one. It runs perfectly outside of captivate but within the captivate swf it goes haywire. It's a very simple fla. The only actionscript involved is a stop action. There is a movie clip that uses a number of classic tweens and then there is a layer containing textual explanations for what's happening in the movie clip. When I run my captivate project the swf does one or other of the following:
    a) it runs but the movie clip starts earlier than the text and so they are out of synch
    b) the text runs as normal but the movie clip does not run at all
    c) it only shows the final frame of the swf and nothing else happens.
    As I say, it is a very simple fla and I'm at my wits end trying to figure out what's wrong. I don't seem to be able to attach the fla here, so if anybody thinks they may be able to help please pm me with your email address and I will email you the fla file.
    Just to note some of the things I have already considered: the text is all set to classic rather than TLF. The captivate project and the fla both publish as3 at 12fps for flash player 9.
    yours hopefully!

  • Problem accessing variables in loaded Captivate swfs when run locally

    I'm loading Captivate 3 swfs into a custom Flash player. Here
    is pseudocode that just gets to the point:
    var cp1_mc:MovieClip = this.createEmptyMovieClip("cp1_mc",
    1);
    cp1_mc.loadMovie("captivate1.swf");
    [wait for (cp1_mc.rdcmndGotoSlide != undefined) via
    setInterval]
    // ***** cp1_mc.rdcmndGotoSlide is FOUND
    var cp2_mc:MovieClip = this.createEmptyMovieClip("cp2_mc",
    2);
    cp2_mc.loadMovie("captivate2.swf");
    [wait for (cp2_mc.rdcmndGotoSlide != undefined) via
    setInterval]
    // ***** cp2_mc.rdcmndGotoSlide REMAINS UNDEFINED
    INDEFINITELY
    The thing is, this problem does not happen when testing the
    movie in Flash, nor does it happen when the player.swf is run on a
    server. It happens when the player.swf is playing locally in an
    html page.
    Can anyone give me a clue as to what's going on? My best
    guess is that it has something to do with Flash Player Security,
    because it only happens locally in a browser, but I just don't get
    what's happening.

    Turns out it was a Flash Player security issue and I had to
    set security settings to "always trust" for my local
    directory.

  • SWF animation issue in Captivate CS4

    Hello All...
    Okay, I have been working on this for hours, and I am getting pretty frustrated.
    I have an swf animation that I need to insert into Adobe Captivate CS4 slide. I have thested the swf file and it opens and plays just fine. I am able to insert it into the Captivate slide just fine, and it plays - however it only plays for about 27 seconds then cuts out. The total swf animation is approx. 40 seconds long.
    Why is it cutting out the animation? When I import the swf file, it plays the entire animation before I actually insert it (in the Animation window). However, the "duration" only shows 27.7 seconds. Why is it only showing a duration of 27.7 seconds, when the actual animation is longer?
    I extended the slide to be over 40 seconds in length, and I am playing the animation for the "duration of animation" - but it is still stopping early!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for the help, it is much appreciated!

    Hi there
    I'm wondering if the issue might be a mismatch of frame rates. You need to investigate the frame rate the SWF was created at. Captivate typically uses 30 frames per second. So if the SWF animation has a different frame rate, perhaps that explains it?

  • Animated GIF. problems in Captivate

    I have been trying to bring in an Animated GIF. into my
    Captivate presentation.
    When I import the animation using Insert> Animation it
    converts the animated gif to a swf file.
    In the preview screen it shows my animated gif with multiple
    colors flashing over and over. It is doing this to all of the
    animated gifs that I am bringing in. My fps is set to 10 within
    Captivate.
    Is there frame restrictions or file size restrictions that is
    causing this error when bringing in an animated gif. Any
    suggestions?

    Hi mikeygilbert23_nap and welcome to our community
    Unfortunately, there are a few different methods used to
    create animated .GIFs. One would think all of them would be created
    simply using different images. Largely this is true. But some
    animation programs allow you to choose different methods for the
    way the screen is painted between frames. Sounds like you may be
    seeing this behavior.
    Not sure what to advise as to how to work past it though.
    Sorry. Hopefully one of the others has a clue.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Imported AS3 swf animation not looping

    I have tried all of the settings in Captivate 5.5 but can't keep my animation looping and not sure why.
    I've imported an AS3 swf animation (just a simple movieclip animation of a blinking line) into Captivate 5.5. I placed the animation at the end of the timeline on the slide, and want the blinking line to stay there and continue to blink (i.e., animate) even after the slide has come to the end of the timeline.
    I've tried everything I can think of. I assumed that checking the "Loop" setting in Captivate for the animation would do it, but it seems to have no effect.
    I am pretty sure what is happening is that the click box on the Cp slide is forcing the animation to pause. In other words, the imported animation's timeline is being forced to pause too. Is there a way to stop this?
    Any ideas?

    Hi there
    Try inserting a Click Box that pauses the slide about half a second before the end of the animation on the Timeline.

  • Control where to start and stop an SWF file inserted into a Captivate 6 slide.

    I am working on a project in which I need to insert SWFs on to slides in Captivate 6 and I've reached a hick-up. Some of the SWFs only need to start play at a specific frame (which is not necessarily the beginning of the SWF) and stop play at a specific frame (which is not necessarily the end of the SWF).
    Is there a way, by use of "Execute Advanced Actions" or "JavaScript", to control the play of a SWF, inserted on a slide, so that it starts and stops at desired frames?

    I think it is almost there now. Thanks for putting me int he right direction. You may be able to offer observations on my coding:
    this.onLoad = function() {
        stop();
    this.onMouseMove=function()
        // Test current mouse position is within the dimensions of the image
        if(_root._xmouse >= 0 && _root._xmouse <= 130 &&
           _root._ymouse >= 0 && _root._ymouse <= 420)
            // It is safe to play the animation as the mouse is within the
            // stage area
            play();
        else
            // We must stop animating and revert back to the first frame
            gotoAndStop(1);
    this.onRollOut = function() {
        stop();

  • Exporting to one .swf when including other swf animations

    Hi
    When exporting my project to flash, three files are created.
    I am not using any skins etc, I am just trying to incorporate two
    animations (one per slide) and finish with one overall .swf file.
    I have managed to do this in two other slides, though! Which
    is most frustrating!
    So just to reiterate:
    When I publish the file, the two animations I am using are
    exported again along with the rest of the publication. So I have
    the main swf, which calls in the other two .swf animations when
    required. I need to have just one file as a result.
    Please help!!

    Welcome to our community, t1mmie
    Are you referring to the supplied animations? (Arrows,
    Highlights, etc)
    If so, there are a few that refuse to embed. For those, you
    need to edit the source files in Flash and export from Flash as
    Flash 6 format. Once you get them in Flash 6 format, add them again
    and they should embed.
    You may download the source files for animations that don't
    have the source from the Captivate Exchange.

  • Noob question. SWF file runs as slideshow, does not allow navigation.

    Hi. I run my own company, and hired a professional to design my website in Flash. I have the editable .fla file in my possession and given that what I need is really simple, I´d like to do it myself and start knowing the tool by reverse engineering an already built site.
    My problem is this:
    I need to update some text information, really simple, so I did open the .fla document in Flash CC and changed the text.
    However, when I publish/export the .swf file, it runs in the browser as a slideshow, and it does not allow for navigation.
    The animations run in a loop that cannot be stopped, and the buttons are disabled.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

    Error one:
    if (Link[ID] == undefined or Link[ID] == "") {
    bttn.enabled = false;
    } else {
    bttn.enabled = true;
    Error two:
    if (isNaN(percentage) or percentage == 0) {
    percentage = 0;
    left.half._rotation = 0;
    right.half._rotation = 0;
    this._visible = false
    } else if (percentage<=50 && percentage>0) {
    left.half._rotation = 0;
    right.half._rotation = (360/100)*percentage;
    this._visible = true
    } else if (percentage>50 && percentage<100) {
    left.half._rotation = (360/100)*(percentage-50);
    right.half._rotation = 180;
    this._visible = true
    } else if (percentage == 100) {
    left.half._rotation = 180;
    right.half._rotation = 180;
    this._visible = false
    I studied Graphic Design waaaaaay before everything was done in a computer, but I do have some rather limited computer skills.
    I´d like to know, if at all possible, what caused this errors, so I can avoid making the same mistakes in the future.
    All I did was change some text/update pictures in the flash file, how come the code got messed up?
    Thanks so much for your time.

  • Choppy Playback of small swf Animations

    Ok, this may be a very a simple and easy question...  I would just like to know what would be others workflow or process per my given situation. We are creating a virtual classroom and building several swf animations to support the content for the classroom. Our swf files are no more than 80kb. When we do share my screen to show the files the playback of these animations are choppy, extremely pixelated and not playing back real time. (Starting to gather that is a bandwidth issue even though we do have our setting set up for the highest bandwidth during our rehearsals.)
    Another option we have played with is uploading our files to the adobe connect server and creating a link. This still seems a little choppy, a slightly better quality but still not the quality of the original animation. Plus, we are not to keen on having to pull up a browser window throughout the presentation/ classroom to show our animations.
    My question is what would be your best workflow or process to present these small swf files so there is no skipping/ choppy or degrading the quality of these animations in a Adobe Connect virtual classroom?
    Appreciate any feedback or advice. Kind of newbie to Connect :/

    The screen sharing option makes sense, as the screen share runs around 5 FPS, so it would be visually choppy, and would have lag.
    Are you custom building the SWF files? I would use the Collaboration SDK to make it so your SWF files can play in the sync'd mode in the connect room, or you can just load them into the Share pod as is and each individual will view it independantly. Just make sure you are making the SWFs in AS3.
    SDK documentation is listed here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/adobeconnect.html

  • CP5 Project with inserted SWF animations

    We have a CP5 project with SWF Animations inserted on the slide.  The narration for the slide is on the CP5 project.  Is there a way to tell the SWF animation to pause is a student pauses the CP5 project?  I'm thinking some advanced action.  Also if they select the pause button on the SWF animation the animation's screen goes blue until the project advances to the next slide.
    As always thanks in advance for any help/ideas.
    Susan

    You won't be able to control the SWF playback with Advanced Actions in Captivate.  They're a bit limited in that respect.
    If you have access to an ActionScript developer, they might be able to create a solution for you.  AS3 is much more powerful than Advanced Actions.
    Your query seems to suggest that you have tried inserting these SWF animations in your project already and that there is a "pause button" on the SWF.  In most SWF animations that I've created in Flash and inserted into Captivate projects, the pause button on the main project also pauses the animation at the same time.
    So if your SWF is NOT pausing, it might be something to do with the way it was created.  Were these SWFs created in Flash or some other application?

  • Flash animations not playing in Captivate 5.5

    When I import a swf from Camtasia 5 into Captivate 5.5, it plays when I "play slide," but not when I play "project" or "from this slide." So.... I saved it as a flv. It plays... if I click the play button, but that's not what I want.
    I've used this technique many times before over the years with no problem. I create an animation in PowerPoint, record it with Camtasia, and import it into Captivate. I need to be able to do it in this version.
    What has gone wrong? Thanks for any suggestions!!

    If your AS2 file is working fine, chalk it up to luck and buy a lottery ticket.  Most users are NOT going to be as fortunate.  Remember where you placed it in your project though, because if you ever start seeing this project go into spasms and flicker like it was having a fit, the quickest solution will probably be to get rid of this AS2 component.
    As for your other issue with the AS3 file, there may be a number of possibilities. My first guess is that your SWF is probably set up as a symbol in the Flash file and the animation is buried inside that symbol.  Due to the way Captivate 5x loads SWFs now, the animation may actually be playing in the background before you reach its slide and that means it will have finished playing by the time you get to where you want it to play.
    If you want to test this theory, you'll need access to the original FLA file used to create this animation.  Try placing some piece of marker text on the final frame of the animation along with a stop(); action.  Then reinsert into your Captivate project.  If this results in you seeing the marker text on your slide at runtime, then it means the animation has completed playing before you got there.
    If this is the issue, try taking the animation out of the Symbol and placing it all on the main timeline of the Flash file.  Then republish and insert back into your Captivate project.
