Swf movie won't open in dreamweaver

I created a flv movie in Flash from a avi file, which I then
exported as a swf movie. The swf movie plays fine in Flash
(file>publish preview), but when I place it into an html page in
Dreamweaver the flash icon ( f ) displays on the html page but if I
try to play the movie in Dreamweaver or open it in a test browser
all I get is a white box where the movie should be playing.
ps I can open swf images (Flash>file>export>export
images) in Dreamweaver ok, but not movies.
I need some help please!
Thanks

FTP it and include dependent files. Make sure the Scripts
folder and script
are on the server.

  • SWF links won't open in Dreamweaver preview

    Hi,
    I'm kinda new to flash and feeling my way around things, but I've run into a snag and haven't found an answer on any forums yet.
    I've created a navigation bar for a website using movie clips with nested animation and I made those movie clips links to different pages in my website.
    When I preview the file in Flash CS3, the links work fine. However, when I preview the SWF file in the the webpage built in dreamweaver, the links won't act like links anymore.
    This is my code to handle the link:
    var urlRequest:URLRequest =
        new URLRequest('iengine.html');
    ielink.addEventListener
        (MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, gotoLinkHandler);
    function gotoLinkHandler(evt:MouseEvent):void{
        navigateToURL(urlRequest,'_self');
    Am I making a common mistake? Or is there something else I need to help flash integrate with dreamweaver?
    Thanks so much for any help!

    You need to name the links in the Flash file as if it were living in the same folder as the html file that holds it... essentially because when you load it into that file, that file becomes its relative reference for loading/targeting.

  • Apps and movies won't open under my old itunes msn id, but the newer iCloud id presents no problem. i've reset the phone a number of times. is there away to get all my previous purchases from my old account transfered to the newer iCloud account?

    i now have three Apple Store accounts. The first was when I signed up for mobileMe ending in "me." The second ending in "msn" And now the third ending in,"icloud"
    The first two seemed to be linked and i would get notifications to update even when i wasn't signed into that account. All the apps downloaded worked just fine on my Iphone4  whether they were downloaded using my iphone or whether they were downloaded from my macbook pro no matter which account they were downloaded from. Now since i started using icloud and after a number of restores my Apple id under "msn" downloads on the apps and my movies all purchased from itunes won't open up. All the other id's apps open up just fine. I've reinstalled itunes, deleted all the apps under the msn account and tried to redownload on both my iphone and my laptop but, no sucess.
    I think the only way to get the apps that i've paid for previously is the see if itunes could move my previous purchases from one account, "msn", to my "icloud" account. has anyone else had a problem like this and how can I makethis happen?

    We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple - I've asked the hosts to remove your email addresses from your post (it's not a good idea to post personal info on any public forum).
    Is the old account a completely different iTunes account, or is it just a previous primary email address on the same account ? If it's a different account then all content that you download from the store is tied to the account that downloaded it, so only that old account will be able to download updates to its apps.
    If it's the same account, just a previous primary email address, then what id shows at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your phone ? You could try tapping on that and log out of it and then log back in with the updated version and see what id then shows for updates.

  • .mov won't open in Quicktime

    Hello all. I have a strange issue with a .mov file. It is visable to me in the Finder preview window (i.e. I can press the play arrow and watch the movie and hear sound), but when I try to open it with Quicktime X, Quicktime 7, FInal Cut, etc. I get the message "Searching for movie data in file" and then "The movie file 'filename-av.mov1' cannot be found."  I was able to open it in VLC, but can't figure out a way to export it from there in a format QT will understand.
    My previous job-holder made the movie in Final Cut, so I know that I have the proper codecs installed (DV/DVCPRO-NTSC, Linear PCM). I've opened it before, with no problems.
    Any ideas of how to get it open and accessable? I need to open it to eventually convert it to h.264, so a solution that would do that is totally fine.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply. It is standalone, about 2.05 GB. I transferred only that file to another computer to test that, and had the same thing happen (plays in VLC and preview, not in QT).
    Am confused. You copied which file to another computer—the one you have or the one for which the QT player is looking? Yes, 2.05 GB does sound like a "standalone" file unless the reference is made to only a small segment of content or a single track of additional data. And, as far as VLC is concerned, did you actually play the entire file or simply open it in VLC? (I.e., VLC is a transport stream media player and will open unterminated files which QT will not open unless it can "see" the EOF.) As to QuickView, it is based on a different tecnology and doesn't even require the sourcing player codecs to be available for playback. Too bad the file won't open in QT so you could check the resources in the "Properties" window.

  • Movie won't open in Quicktime and won't save in iTunes

    I have just finished editing a project and I am trying to share it to iTunes or Quicktime.
    When I share it to "Apple Devices 720", it was automatically saved to the Final Cut Project file folder under "Shared Items", and inside I found the Quicktime file for the project. But it won't open in Quicktime, I am getting an error message that says:
    "The document XXXXX (1280 x 720).m4v-TEMP” could not be opened. The movie's file format isn't recognized."
    I tried to share it to iTunes, nothing works. I just want to be able to play it.
    Ideally, I would like to be able to play the movie in iTunes on my iMac, and be able to sync it to iPod Touch.

    Actually, I solved the problem. follow these instrudctions:
    In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences—the tilde (~) represents your Home folder.
    Remove the "com.apple.finalcutpro.plist" file from the Preferences folder.
    Remove the "Final Cut Pro User Data" folder from the Preferences folder.
    If you can't find com.apple.finalcutpro.plist delete any com.apple.finalcut..... files.

  • Jpegs won't open in Dreamweaver cs4 or Dreamweaver 8

    I was using dreamweaver 8 just fine and then all of a sudden my newly created jpegs won't transfer to dreamweaver.  They won't open no matter what program I create the jpeg in.  The old ones that are saved on my desktop or image folders will still open in Dreamweaver.  I tried downloading cs4 and I have the same problem, except it makes the image file name a link when I try to drop it in on the page.  Also, when I go to insert image, the preview box shows nothing.  I'm on windows vista.
    Any help would be great, I called support and it got me no where.

    On Vista, Right Click on your desktop's DW shortcut icon and select Run as Administrator.  You should only need to do this once.
    Also, make sure your JPEGS are saved for the web as RGB -- not CMYK.

  • SWF Movie Won't Load in Preview Mode?

    Hey, I'm new to all of this, but when I put my .SWF movie into my website as an advertisment banner, but when I open it in preview mode, it just doesn't load. Why is this?
    Here is the code for it (I think):
      <tr>
        <td height="404" colspan="2"><object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="550" height="400" align="middle" id="FlashID">
          <param name="movie" value="../Ad Banner.swf" />
          <param name="quality" value="high" />
          <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
          <param name="swfversion" value="6.0.65.0" />
          <!-- This param tag prompts users with Flash Player 6.0 r65 and higher to download the latest version of Flash Player. Delete it if you don’t want users to see the prompt. -->
          <param name="expressinstall" value="../Scripts/expressInstall.swf" />
          <!-- Next object tag is for non-IE browsers. So hide it from IE using IECC. -->
          <!--[if !IE]>-->
          <object data="../Ad Banner.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="550" height="400" align="middle">
            <!--<![endif]-->
            <param name="quality" value="high" />
            <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
            <param name="swfversion" value="6.0.65.0" />
            <param name="expressinstall" value="../Scripts/expressInstall.swf" />
            <!-- The browser displays the following alternative content for users with Flash Player 6.0 and older. -->
            <div>
              <h4>Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.</h4>
              <p><a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"><img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_flash_player.gif" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" width="112" height="33" /></a></p>
            </div>
            <!--[if !IE]>-->
          </object>
          <!--<![endif]-->
        </object></td>
      </tr>
    Any help or suggestions would be useful, as this is for my school coursework. Thanks in advance!

  • Swf movie won't load in html page

    I have a flash movie that loads another movie into a place holder container upon opening.
    So, 2 swf files - one is the main movie and the other the one that loads into the main movie.
    Works just fine when testing in flash or clicking on the swf files outside of flash.
    But when I embedd the main movie into my html page - the main movie loads ok, but it doesn't load the child movie. I have both swf files in the directory so I am not getting why it works fine except when placing into html page.
    Any thoughts on this without uploading the actual files or code for everything somewhere?
    Thanks!

    are all 3 files in the same directory?
    if not, you probably have a path error in your loading code.  (the path is relative to the embedding html's location.)
    if yes, you probably have incorrect/incomplete embedding code.  (to test, use the html file generated by flash without editing.)

  • Firefox won't open my Dreamweaver files to preview even though I have it designated as one of my browsers in Dreamweaver...help!

    Within Dreamweaver, you can specify which browser you would like to preview your files in. I have Firefox as one of my designated browsers, as well as Safari, Opera, etc. So, when I go to preview an edited file, they will not open for preview in Firefox. They will open in all my other browsers...
    The best I can get is the default browser window, with no edited website file in it...just default window. Should open right up in the browser...

    There is a fix for Dreamweaver, so it works in Firefox 3.6+ versions:
    http://solutions.marketingmedley.com/
    There is a $5.00 fee for that Dreamweaver fix. That website and the fix are not associated with Mozilla in any manner. Support for that fix is provided by that that website via email.

  • Dir 11 movie won't open on old PC

    I just installed Dir 11 and created a cross platform CD.
    I can open it on my Quad-core Intel Xeon Mac.
    It has auto run and opens on a Intel Pentium 4 - PC.  And on my Intel laptop PC.
    But when I try to open the EXE. file on a circa 2000 Compac PC with Intel Celeron running WIndows ME, I get a little error box that has "?I???Ib?I OK" in it.
    Any movies created in Director MX and Director MX2004 work in this old PC.
    My client wants these CDs to run in as many machines as possible.  That's why I test them on the old PC.
    Any idea what the problem and solution might be.
    Thanks,
    David

    According to this FAQ:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/director/systemreqs/
    The minimum required system for playback on a PC is:
    Intel Pentium 4 processor
    Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista
    512MB of RAM
    Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0 or Firefox 2.0
    So, if you need older OS support, you would need to stick with MX 2004

  • QT movies won't open, just search for clip, and then error 128

    I have filmed a lot of digital movies when I was an undergraduate studying film and I exported them all as quicktime movies to save in my computer; however, for some unknown reason, whenever I try to re-watch those movies, QT searches for "Clip 01" or whatever and says that it cannot open the movie without this clip, and then gives me "error (-128)." What is up with this? I thought once I exported the film as a QT .mov that would be the only file I needed. I don't understand why it needs to search for a clip. Thanks for anyones help, I'm trying to piece together a demo reel and now I don't have access to about 75% of my work.
    G4 Desktop   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   Dual Processor 1.25 & 2 GB of RAM

    When you "Save as" QuickTime Movie you get two choices... Reference movie and Self contained.
    Self contained creates a movie with all needed media (video and audio clips) within the .mov file.
    Reference movie creates a very small file that tells QuickTime where to find the clips to play and does not copy those clips into the mov file.

  • Finished a project, burned a movie, won't open

    Hi Forum, I know this is a FCP forum, but this is indirectly involved:
    I just finished a project in FCP, and used Compressor and IDVD to make a fine movie that plays great on MY New, fancy Panasonic HDMI DVD player....
    However,
    It won't play on some of the older players the client tried to look at. Is there any other "encryption" or option I should try? I mean, why does any 7.99 movie on sale from walmart play on the older players, but not my cool, hot-off-the press FCP produced movie?
    Thanks
    PS...Redirect me as you see fit, I appreciate it!
    Mark

    OK...well, seems that the "one" disk I made using compressor, works fine (I just got off the phone).
    For the other copies, I used a "self-contained" movie, dropped it into TOAST and made the vid, which went to copy....so i'm now assuming that the signal, encoding might have got lost in TOAST or during duplication.
    Thanks
    M

  • Business catalyst won't open in dreamweaver

    When I click the Get Started button or try to open a New Business Catalyst site from the site menu, the dialog box flashes but nothing else happens. I can open it on my other computer, but on my laptop. it's not working. Is there a setting I need to fix or something?

    Hi!
    There are some steps in this doc that should apply to your case: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-2202
    Try it out and let me know how it goes
    [...] If you still encounter any issue, here are the steps to fix this :
    1. De-activate your DW
    2. Delete the opm.db.
    The opm.db file can be found in the OOBE folder in:
    - on Mac: <yourusername>/Library/Application Support/Adobe
    - onWindows XP: <youruser>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe
    - on Windows 7: <youruser>\AppData\Local\Adobe
    3. Re-activate the DW
        You should be able to connect to BC from DW now.

  • Swf. file won't load in file preview or webpage

    I'm a Creative Cloud member that has created a one page website using Dreamweaver CS6.  I've uploaded all the files of my one page website to Business Catalyst to learn how to put a site on the web and manage it .   Included on my one page websight is a swf. file.  The swf. file appears in the file manager window of Business Catalyst, but won't open in the preview window on the file manager page of Business Catalyst.  I've made the site live, but  the swf. file won't open when the live site is openend in a browser on a computer other than the computer that holds the original files uploaded to Business Catalyst.  What am I doing wrong?

    It would be best to post a link to a live test page online.

  • SWF movies are not animated when the file's opened directly.

    Firstly, although I've been using Flash on and off for years (since CS3) I don't use it very often so I apologise if my issue seems simplistic!
    Basically, I used Flash CS3 for a few years to create basic animations for clients, involving simple scrolling text, without any problems.  Recently I upgraded to the CS4 Master Suite and then CS5 Master Suite within a couple of days of each other and I now need to use Flash to make a change to an old animation.  When I opened the CS3 file it appears as expected and I made the changes to the text (changing a word or two within a line of type).
    When I right clicked on the type relevant frames within the timeline I noticed that there is now more than one version of tween available, and that classic tween was already selected (I think I better buy a new teach yourself Flash CS5 book!)
    Anyway, that was allI needed to do so I initially pressed return and the text scrolled across the stage as expected.  But when I clicked on CONTROL / TEST MOVIE / TEST (or cmd+Return on my Mac) the SWF file that appears is static and the text does not scroll at all.  If I publish the movie using Actionscript 3 or 2 the resulting SWF file is also totally static.  But if I drop the SWF file into the relevant website folder and view it through Dreamweaver's browser view facility it works perfectly and scrolls just as expected.  Equally, opening it using the Opera browser works too.
    I've tried altering the CS3 file and testing the movie in Flash CS4 and Flash CS5 but the same thing happens.  It's a bit time wasting and inefficient wanting to test an animation as a SWF file by double clicking on it and only being shown a static image.  Is this a well known problem as I couldn't find any mention of it during my search?
    Thanks for reading and I'd really appreciate help resolving this issue.

    Update:
    I downloaded the newest Flash Player and double clicked the problematic swf file again.  I was a bit surprised to see Flash CS5 start up and display the floating test window with the problematic static animation as before.  I closed Flash CS5, right clicked on the swf file and chose "Open With Flash Player".  The animation opened in the new Flash Player and was working fine.
    So it appears that only Flash CS5 and CS4 are having the issue playing the test movie that was created in the very same program?
