Switching libraries issue

iPhoto 11 continues to come up with new and innovative way to annoy and frustrate me. I am running latest version of this and Lion, a new thing has come up when I try and switch between my different libraries.
It relaunches, defaults to the attached iOS device screen. It doesn't show any photo content from it, instead it's a blank screen except with a narrow slot in the midle, like a post box sort of thing. As soon as you click on anything it crashes and then you re-open and it needs to go through a lengthy repair process. Once it completes that it defaults to the same screen I mention above, but this time you can access your events etc. without it crashing.
Anyone else seen this?

Oh, baby! This bad boy flies!! Here's what to expect:
I had 40,000 images in Aperture 3 and it was dog slow at everything. I installed 3.1 update today. It took 5 minutes to update the database and then behaved marginally better than before at ASIC library navigation. I was disappointed.
Then I QUIT the app. It took a couple of hours to "update files for sharing" with a counter that went to 110,000 images. So it must have updated every thumbnail and variation of preview. Turned it back on , and BAM. Came up fully in seconds. Paused for 10 seconds ten everything was lickrty split. For the first time ever, I can use the Projects view with all 791 projects and scroll quickly. I even put it in photos modevand whipped thru all 49,000 images!
Haven't done anybprocessing yet, but i'm liking it!!

How do I save my iTunes library so I can open it again when I switch libraries?

When I switch libraries itunes won't open the folder that contains all my music from my library. It will only open the previous saved versions. How do I create a new saved version with all the music from my library?

Itunes always saves the library when it closes and will use that library when it next opens unless you change it.
To switch libraries:
Hold down the shift key and start iTunes, keep holding the shift key until you are prompted to choose or create a library. Select "Choose" and navigate to the location of your other library and choose iTunes library.itl.

I seem to have found a way around it. Rather than switching libraries by going into files/switch libraries I used Aperture Preferences to change them. I've done it a couple of times and it appears to work OK.
That is an interesting finding. It suggests, that your "Preferences" file "com.apple.Aperture.plist" may have been corrupted and you fixed it this way. Can you now switch between libraries the usual way? If not, I'd try to remove the "preferences" file from the user library to the Desktop and relaunch Aperture.

Multiple Libraries Issues

So I've finally decided I want better quality control in my iTunes library, and I decided to create a second Lossless library, using the Apple Lossles Encoder. I'm going to keep a master library for the iPod and the lossless for home theater streaming once iTV comes out. Setting that up was easy, put the lossless tunes in a new folder on the external hd worked perfectly. The problem is the preferences are not seperate for the seperate libraries. I first noticed this when I unchecked movies/tv/podcasts in the lossless library view, went back to the master library and they weren't there. The bigger problem is the library location doesn't switch over as well. So the new podcasts that downloaded went into the lossless folder. Anybody know a workaround for this? I really don't want to have to drag files from one music folder to another and also have to change library location and preferences when switching libraries. Thanks.

Each user on each computer will have to set iTUnes to use the external as the library location.
Next depends on what you want to do. Move all files to external then using iTunes add the files to iTunes library again. Empty library in iTunes then add files to library recreating library from scratch.
All users will have to maintain each library separately even though all files will be in same place and accessible to all users. When one person adds something to their own library the other ones will not know it. If someone else wants those files also then they will have to use add folder or add file option to add the files to their own library. It should not duplicate the files on the drive but is sometimes does when you do this. Deleting files or renaming them can be problematic if one user deleted a file another user has in library it will affect both. Podcasts are an exception, these will always duplicate if multiple users subscribe. This allows individual management of episodes.

I've got LR 5.7 running, but it seemingly has switched libraries and none of the images show although filenames and editing marks still correspond to the blanks where the photos should be. Any ideas out there?

I think this is really a job for tech support, but I can't seem to find the "pros" who chat all day. I've been using LR for years, but I don't like the $9.99 monthly rental and seemingly non-existent personal support.

If you think it has switched libraries (not sure why you think that), try File->Open Recent

Belkin KVM Switch 2 issue

recently bought the new Belkin Switch 2 KVM gizmo.
Hooked it up to a G5 PPC DVI->VGA & G4 PPC(AGP) VGA. Montior is a Samsung Syncmaster 172T (1024x768 @ 60hz), keyboard & mouse are Apple Pro, both wired. Running 10.4.7
Boot up the G5 & it gets through boot up but then crashes - in respect that although login/startup items continue to load, the mouse is unresponsive & the screen defaults to the generic wallpaper & the screen resolution is not as specified in system prefs (ie. lesser/basic res.)Only way out is to hit the power button til it turns itself off.
Boot up the G4 & it works perfectly. Have reversed the switch cables to check them but no change to the G5 crash. Looks to me like there may be an issue with DVI-VGA and the Switch2.
Has anyone experienced this & more importantly figured out how to solve this issue?

The new Apple keyboard is very underpowered. Even if connected directly to the computer mine won't power my Ipod, so i would say it's likely a power issue.

Oracle to SQL server switch mapping issue?

We are switching the DB from Oracle to SQL. As a result our existing mapping seems to create issue while we are trying to INSERT data.
We changed some of the date setting as and also the hasQuot to Yes so when it goes to the SQL server it runs as CONVERT(datetime,'currentDate/time', 120)
Before doing this change we were getting the error
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string.
Now we are getting the error
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: String or binary data would be truncated
Also other date fields are sent with '' like '20150427'
Additionally fields which are Characters are also sent in '' like 'Shaibayan' but when these fields are coming empty at that time the Audit log SQL INSERT shows them as ''' i.e. 3 single quotes instead of '' which we should get.

Action:      Refer to the Net8 NCRO error message. If this isn't clear, check connection administrative setup in tnsnames.ora and listener.ora for the service associated with the Heterogeneous Services database link being used, or with 'extproc_connection_data' for an external procedure call.

Windows.old libraries issue

I have a user who uses a personal laptop for business sometimes. They brought the laptop in (Samsung) and showed me that it was running slowly, and having some odd issues with input lag (while typing). It's a Windows 7 Home Premium machine, with 6GB of RAM,
an i5 processor, and an Intel 4000 graphics adapter.
The first thing I noticed when I looked at it, was that there were duplicates of all major libraries, with a .old "extension". Meaning, that when browsing the libraries for that user folder, there is a "Pictures" library, and right below
it, and Pictures.old library. This theme continues for all major libraries (pics, vids, docs, etc.)
Now, the .old libraries are the only libraries with anything in them. The new ones don't seem to have any folder structure at all, and there is nothing contained in them. So I looked for the Windows.old folder I was certain I would find...... and it isn't
there. In fact, there isn't any evidence at all that there was an upgrade to the OS (same OEM installation that came with the machine).
So, does anyone have an idea how these duplicate directories might have gotten created? I'd like to simply copy the contents of these folders to the new libraries, and delete the old ones. But I'm hesitant to do so without understanding how they got created.
Additionally, the new libraries don't seem to allow me to copy anything into the folder anyway. It complains that there is no "folder" to copy to, and prompts me to create one. When I do, I get the same error.
Any help would be appreciated. I'll provide whatever info I can to assist in resolving this.

Try to log on with another account to verify whether it is caused by the specific account.

Activate or switch device issue

I purchased an Iphone 5 with my upgrade with the intent to turn around and sell it on ebay (same thing I did with my iphone 4 upgrade last time). I received the phone, brought it to the verizon store to have it activated and then get switched back to my Droid...all went well and I even called verizon later to confirm the iphone 5 had been activated on my account. Now my problem is if I go to "activate or switch device" I am still getting a "verify your new device" page with the iphone 5. Shouldn't this have gone away once my iphone 5 had been activated on my account?
With my previous upgrades, once I activated/deactivated the new phone and reactivated my old phone I was free to activate any phone I wished on that number. There are no issues with "activate or switch device" on the other 2 lines on my account, just the line I used to get the upgrade.
Any ideas?

Call customer service from a line NOT involved in the switch you want to do - 800-922-0204. Sometimes I've been able to switch devices on my own, but the last few times it's been glitchy, and I've had to call CS. To Verizon's credit, the CS reps have been very helpful and have managed to get the correct device(s) activated in relatively short order.
From the main menu, choose Option 4 (Other) and then say AGENT at the prompt - you should be connected to a live person pretty quickly.

Slow/Crashes switching libraries

Here's a question that I have not seen asked in the encore 2.0 forum yet. If I missed it, forgive me. =)
My problem is this, when I am in the Library Palette and I want to switch from General to say Corporate, Education or Wedding. It can take literally forever!
Here is my test, I open up a blank project and try to change libraries. I can select only the buttons for Wedding and change from General to the Wedding Library and after a few minutes it does come up. Encore spikes as it is doing this at 49% CPU usage and 256mb of ram being used. But then lets say I change over to Corporate and stay with the buttons. Encore sits there with the hourglass and says not responding. Still 49% CPU Usage and this time 78mb of ram. I have to crash encore and restart.
I have no other background processes running except Photoshop CS2 and Bridge! Everything else has been disabled. I can browse to the assests with Bridge no problem FYI.
Any help would be appreciated,

Weird. It's possible that the .norm files in your Library somehow got corrupted.
Quit Encore, then go
C:\Documents and Settings\
username\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Encore DVD 2.0\Library\Wedding and remove any .norm files, then relaunch Encore and switch from General to the Wedding set. Depending on processor speed, it may take several (but no more than 5-10 minutes) to rebuild the .norm file(s).
Once the .norm file is properly built, switching library sets should only take a few seconds.

Monitoring Catalyst Switch (MIB issue)

I am trying to monitor Catalyst WS-C3750G-24TS-E switches with Openview NNM. Before being able to do this, I have of course to import the MIB in Openview in order to interprete the traps, MIB entries,... that I get from/look at the switch.
In the Management part of the datasheet of the switch, there is a list of about 20 MIB's, does this mean that I have to import all these MIBs in NNM in order to be able to monitor the switch??
(I have the same issue also for Catalyst WS-4506 Chassis, WS-X4548-GB-RJ45 48x10/100/1000T ports blade an for the loadbalancer CSS11501, but probably the response for the catalyst will respond also the questions)

In fact, the core functionning of SNMP traps, requests is clear for me, perhaps I was not clear enough on that :-). What I need to know is if importing a single MIB allows me to interpret all the information that I get from the switch(all the traps and gets) or do I need to import all the MIBs that are indicated in the whitepaper. I could imagine that most of the MIBs contain redundant information so there would be no need in importing them all, but I am not sure on this point.

Switching Theme Issue

I Apply the weblog Switching Themes by Topic - A Color Code System for the Portal but I have the following issue.
The header area is updated with the new themes. However, the inner page is not affected by the theme changes. We are trying to change the back color of the portal, but when we change the theme it only changes in the header area but not in the content area

An Alt+Tab app-switching icons issue

This may sound trivial, but it's really bothering me.
When I switch apps with Alt+Tab under GNOME, there is this low resolution image-missing icon, for certain programs.
And I don't really mind those few programs not having their own icons, it's the low res generic one that I'm annoyed with.
So, ok- I went out to search for this icon's source, and I actually found out that these image-missing icons reside in /usr/share/icons/gnome/<RESOLUTION>/status directories.
And, to my surprise there is actually a perfectly good 256x256 .png image in its appropriate directory, called image-missing.png
Worse still, I tried to remove (and backup) all the low res ones, leaving only the 256x256 one in place, but to no avail.
Somebody care to explain all this to me?

I am still having this issue. I've noticed it on my old iMac with a wired keyboard and mouse, my new iMac with a wired keyboard and magic mouse and lastly my MPB, with obviously a built in keyboard and mouse. It's not a failed USB device or failed hardware IMO. It is more likely a bug with SL or a third party app.
Though I personally don't run any third party apps in the background other than Dropbox.
Has anyone else out there still been seeing this issue?

SF-302 switch connectivity issue

i found that cisco small business SF302 PoE managed switch connect with the end device (RFID component) would causing packet drop issue.
how should i isolate the issue and proper troubleshooting? would it cause by the PoE issue, or the 10/100 base etc.

Alarm bells ring in my mind, when you say ". Switchport is running o autonego, so the switch prefix it to 10-Full, any ohter mode than this is not working."
Did you manually set a port speed to 10-full or does autonegotiation settle for 10-full?
Can you also check within the RFID device, what it thinks is it's link speed and duplex ?
( if the switch port or the RFID device have their speeds manually set, then the NIC/switchport autonegotiation process WILL not work. for autonegotiation to work, both the RFID NIC and the switch port must be set to autonegotiate)
I am thinking there is a autonegotiation or flow control issue between the RFID device and the switch. A previous cisco Question and answer section says (in blue) that ;
Autonegotiation issues can result from nonconforming implementation, hardware incapabilities, or software defects.
Noel, this brings up a point, have you checked if the manufacturer of the RFID devicefor the latest NIC driver firmware ?
Please be diligent and check this with the manufacturer of the RFID device, as these issues can be caused by old firmware..
When NICs or vendor switches do not conform exactly to the IEEE specification 802.3u, problems can result.
I think you have flow control to work with , but now I can understand packet loss, if the is a autonegotiation issue then packet loss can result.
Hardware incompatibility and other issues can also exist as a result of vendor-specific advanced features, such as autopolarity or cable integrity, which are not described in IEEE 802.3u for 10/100 Mbps autonegotiation.
It could be very interesting to see a screen capture like the one below;
1. of the Etherlike statistics for the port that is connected to the RFID device .
2. the error log, might be very informative to indicate a potential cause of this issue.
But, in the back of my mind, seeing 10megFull duplex as a setting tells me that autonegotiation is having issues, which points me to a NIC firmware issue in the RFID device.
You must be good and try to get a updated NIC drivers for the RFID device.
