Switching off selected devices

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I have a BT Home Hub 3 and I heard that you can switch off selected devices at various times of the day, i.e. switching off my son's xbox without the rest of the familiy suffering with a lack of internet. Is this facility available with the home hub 3 or would i have to upgrade to a newer system.
Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
First off, to set your expectation correctly, please see this "sticky" post, along with the threads to which it links, for helpful information to guide you as you proceed:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Social-Lounge/How-This-Site-and-Formal-Support-Work/td-p/2540...
Hopefully, this information will be of use to you.
Concerning your specific issue, please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Z30 will not switch OFF!

    I have this error message displayed - www.bberror.com/bb10-0015 - on my Z30.
So the screen is black (looks like it's off), but when i start the reload process in BB Link (with device connected), i get a message asking me to switch off the device. It will not turn off. If i hold the 'off' button down, it just starts up again and then displays the error message once more. What can i do?

    1. How do i find out which exact model my BB is? Because it will not switch on to let me go into settings etc.. As i say, although it won't switch off, it won't allow me in either - just get that error message.
Remove the back cover. At the bottom behind that cover is a label with a lot of tiny print on it. In that print will somewhere be STA100-something...that "something" is what determines your exact Z30 model number.

    2. I cannot do a backup either because of above.
Like insurance, the time to take a backup is before problems happen. It is a hard lesson to learn, but one should never allow an update to a computing device to begin unless one has a full and complete backup in hand. Further, a regular procedure of taking backups is always recommended so as to minimize the loss of data should a catastrophic failure happen.

Finally, with the state i have described, will the autoloader run?
I cannot predict the outcome of making the attempt. I can, of course, predict the outcome of never trying at all. You may have to experiment with timing of starting up your BB, connecting it to your PC, and launching the AutoLoader. Given the condition of your BB, you may have to try a few tricks with different timings of those actions. But AutoLoaders are pretty forceful...generally, if power is flowing through the BB at all and the display is doing anything at all, then the AutoLoader can attach to it and conduct it's process.
    Good luck!

    Hi pike 13
Yes you can reset to factory setting ,But I prefer to reload your Device softwareBut if you do that without a proper backup you will lose all your data and application.Install BlackBerry Desktop software from here BlackBerry desktop software and do your backup. But I prefer to reload your Device software .Then you can try this :
KB11320 : How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device software using BlackBerry desktop software for windows
Or as you want How to reset the BlackBerry smartphone to factory defaults or you can simply do it on your handheld like this On your Home screen - Options - Security - Security wipe -Select the appropriate check boxes to remove data and applications as intended - Type blackberry, and click Wipe Data .
( I prefer security wipe as the last option )

  • Verizon BB 8830 WE Unlocked Shows Connected to GSM but can't make or receive Calls (Calls to the no says Device Switched Off)

    Hi!
I bought a new Verizon 8830 World Edition unlocked from ebay. I confirmed that its unlocked from MEPD command (although it says Network: ''Inactive'' instead of 'disabled').
I tried using various GSM network SIMs (India) in it and everytime, it shows an active tower and full signal levels and displays the name of the network correctly. It looks as if its connected to the GSM service at full signal.
However, placing calls fail and any call made to the number gives a 'Switched Off' message.
I am totally flummoxed and don't know what to do.
I have tried: Battery pull & Wipe out.
    About: v4.5.0.186 (Platform 3.4.0.59)
I would be very very very thankful for any pointers. Please help me!

    Hi Subhankar,
The Connections are ON, the Network Selection is Automatic and the Mode is GSM
The Connection is showing 'Connected', with Antenna and Full Signals, with the Name of the Network too.
I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting, pulling the battery many times. However, calls are not successful and the number remains 'switched off'.

  • How to switch off iTunes match on my device

id like to switch off iTunes match on my device

With iTunes Match enabled on an iOS device traditional syncing of music via USB of via Wi Fi is disabled. This only applies to music. Ringtones can be synced normally.
To turn off iTM on the iOS device go to Settings > iTunes and App Store and set "iTunes Match" to OFF (not green).

  • Switch off default selection in partners pop up

    Hi Experts,
In case of one sold to, multiple ship to, system gives a pop up with list of ship to parties. But by default selecting the first ship to, with tick mark. Is there any possibility to switch off the system default selection in partner functions pop up.
    Points assured for helpful answer.
    Thanks
    Sunanda.P

    Hi Sunanda,
If you do not want a pop-up to come up everytime you create a sales order then you can simply delete all the ship to party's from the customer master, once you delete all the ship to party's in customer master you can manually select your desired ship to party at the sales order level only.  This is the best solution without disturbing the standard configuration.  Hope im clear with your query.  Either of the two you can use, both the functionalities cannot be used simultaneously, if you want to use both these then you may have to design a user exit.

When i wake up my iMac from sleep my wifi is disconnected.  It also disconnects my iPad, my wives iPad, my iPhone & Sky On Demand which is connected via wifi. To reconnect all devices i have to switch off & then on again wifi on the iMac. Can anyone help?

Had the same issue and finally solved it.  After the upgrade to Mavericks our 2 new Macbook Airs stopped connecting automatically to Wifi while the older machines the kids had still worked fine.
Bought a new airport extreme and problem solved.   Our Airport Extreme was about 5 years old and was probably not compatible with the new OSX.
BTW this was after trying everything people suggested on this forum and a 4 hour marathon tech support call with Apple where we reinstalled the OSX.
***** to need to spend $200 but glad the problem got solved.
New extreme is also mega fast so its all good.

  • Blackberry z 10 device switch off automatically once it battery reaches to 20%

please  help me in finding the solution.
    Thanks & Regards,

The same problem was with my Z10. It was getting switched off at 20% battery. I charged my phone battery upto 100% and then removed battery keeping wall charger connected and inserted again after 1-2 mintues. The phone restarted and it started charging from 97%. It took another 20 minutes to charge 100% again. After getting 100% again I did the same and this time it started charging from 98%. The same thing I repeated 4 times and believe me when my Z10 was at 20% battery today, it did not turned off. I kept watching on this. Everyting was fine. I started charging at 9% again.
But blackberry should address this issue. Atleast some KB should be released.

  • Device get Automatically switched off and unable to turn on ...

    Hi experts,
I wish u happy new year to everyone..
I am facing a critical issue in my bb torch 9860,device get automatically switched off and unable to turn on the device by switching the power button .after doing hard reset it turns on ....iam missing calls .please help me how to trouble shoot it

It's obviously a software issue so I suggest jumping right to an OS reload.  Battery pulls are always a good place to start but after that you should reload the OS.
To do this, plug your phone in to your PC and open BlackBerry Desktop Software.  Click Device at the top of the software then Restore.  Choose the most recent restore point and load it.
Let us know if that helps you.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • Howto switch off: Jump to selection

    Hi,
I'm using Flash Builder Version 4.0.0.235740 on Windows Vista.
When I doupleclick a variable in the AS3 code all other equal variable names are selected automatically. This is a nice feature. But when I use i.e. the scrolling to modify other code parts the screen always scrolls back to the previously selected variable. This causes a lot of failures as I'm not always on the screen.
Is there a possibility to switch off this auto scrolling feature?
    Thanks. Kind regards,
    Viktor

Is this a rare or unique problem I have described or could it be that it is related to the Eclipse plattform?

my iphone I5 with latest OS 7.0.4 switched off interminately and I have to hardboot the device again. is there any solution?

Try to set it up as new device without using the latest backup, in case the backup contains corrupt data causing this. If it works after that, restore from the latest backup to get your data and settings back.
