Sync AUDIO to VIDEO in FCPX with timecode only  (no scratch audio)

We shot a film on the RED.  We will be editing the film in Apple ProRes.
The audio was recorded separately.  And we have no camera audio to use as scratch to sync audio waveforms with AutoSync.
I am looking for a solution to batch sync my project using timecode.
Can I do this in FCPX?  Do I need a third party App?
Please help.
Thanks

Do you have a clap strike you can sync to? Or timecode? Use markers on the audio and and the video. Open the video clip in the timeline. Drag the audio into it and line up the markers.

  • How to sync music and video from iPhone4 with iPad mini?

I have music and video on my iPhone4 and I just got my iPad mini yesterday.  Does anyone know how to sync music and video between two devices?

Apple doesn't enable you to copy certain items from your iPhone to your computer e.g.
    - songs that have not been bought in the iTunes store
    - photos from photo album (only allows photos transferred from camera roll)
This is frustrating if you have lost these items on your computer - e.g. accidental deletion, hard disk failure.
Its not that its not possible - just that the functionality is not included in iTunes. Its an example of Apple prioritising revenues over customer experience - hey they can do what they want with their reputation but should take care not to frustrate customers too much.
However the Senuti (free) and PhoneView ($20) allows you to transfer items either way between computer and iPhone. Ive tried both and they work great. These are for OS X and there are many other applications available online for both Windows/Mac that allow you to treat the iPhone as just a plugged in disk too. You can try iPod Photo Liberator (Mac & Windows) iPodCopy (Mac and Windows Versions) Keith's iPod Photo Reader (Mac only).
    Good luck

  • Syncing audio and video with timecode

What is the best way to sync audio and video files from a one camera shoot on which the camera was jammed with timecode from the mixer? Is there a batch method? Is it best done with a third party application or within Premier?
    Camera is Canon C300
    Adobe Premier Pro CC
    Windows Operating system
The project is a 15 page short film shot over four days. Lots of dialogue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is "merge assets" different from "merge..."? I see the timecode option in "merge...".
    Thanks

  • Sync audio with two different video files to create split screen

I want to sync two different video files to a high quality audio file and create a split screen from there in Final Cut Pro X. Help please?

I'm following along at home, Tom, trying to make sense out of your instructions. (Editorially: This kind of operation is among the reasons I thoroughly loathe FCPX.) This would have been easy in FCP7. Perhaps it's actually the same amount of work (you are describing operations in FCPX I have not bothered to try yet—too scared) but it's far more direct the old way: Find sync points for all three files, stack them up in a timeline, nudge till precisely matched, apply effects.
But I'm glad you're here to help us through this stuff!

  • Audio/video out of sync (audio delay) with PowerBeats wireless earphones.

I am having a problem with audio/video sync between my  PowerBeats Wireless earphones with my MacPro and MacBookPro. I have tried pairing, playing the video, pausing the video, turning off the PowerBeats, tuning the PowerBeats on, then starting the video playback again. I have the same audio delay so this not working for me. Anyone have an update as to how to fix this audio/video sync problem?

I am playing MPEG-4 movie files. I did open MPlayerX from my dock, then pulled down File to select Open which then did show the folder where these movie files are stored.  Then I was able to select a movie file, open it, and use "Decrease Audio Delay" to closely sync the audio with the video. I say closely because it is not perfect. Rather than stepping each increase or decrease in one tenth of a second, perhaps a finer adjustment would have been in milliseconds. This is the adjustment that I have with my AVR to sync the audio with the video, so I know this is a possible increment adjustment. The perfect adjustment was in between -0.4 and -0.5 second, however, this was not possible in one tenth second adjustments. The closest adjustment was with -0.4 second rather than with -0.5 second. So, adjustments in milliseconds could have been very near a perfect sync. Perhaps later versions of MPlayer will offer the adjustment selection in milliseconds. Nevertheless, this is working much, much better than before. Thank you so much. I have spent most of this day researching this problem and you have come up with by far the best solution. This problem goes all the way back to 2010 and possibly beyond for Apple products. There are hundreds of reports documenting out of sync audio/video issues with no solution that works as well as MPlayerX. Even the Beats support staff have no idea of how to resolve the audio/video out of sync.

  • Exporting synced audio with video for further editing

I'm exporting DSLR footage with synced audio in order to "bake" the audio in. I'm going to bring the export into Prelude to organize and then back into Premiere to edit. What are the best export settings (including target and maximum bitrate) to maintain top quality footage that I'll continue editing?
    Thanks!

I'd go with UT, DNxHD or AVC-I for this.

  • Need Assistance with syncing audio/video

Alright, I hope you guys can help with this because I've looked high and low and can't find any answers.
Here's what I'd like to do. I'm using Premiere CS3 to edit HD footage shot on a Panasonic HVX2000 (in .mxf format). Audio was recorded separately on a Marantz solid state recorder.
I bring the video clip into the timeline, and then delete the onboard camera audio. Then I bring in the audio from the Marantz. Using the slate I sync the audio and video together. Then I link both files.
    NOW...
The problem comes with what to do next. What I want to do is create a new subclip that features the synced audio and video. I want to be able to go through my footage, sync all the sound, put these combined files back into a bin for later.
OTHERWISE... the way I see it, I'd have to re-sync every time I wanted to bring in another instance of that clip... or have an instance of EVERY CLIP in my film on the timeline at once for me to pick and choose from.
In Final Cut Pro (which I had at school but don't have now), you could just drag the linked audio and video clips from the timeline to the Project window and it was automatic.
Can someone PLEASE help me figure out the equivalent function in Premiere? Even looking in the user manual there's a heading for creating subclips from the timeline, but then there's nothing under the heading explaining it.
    Thanks in advance!
    -Nick

    You can use a
nested sequence to accomplish what you want.
    Cheers

  • Syncing Audio and Video but wish for the Audio not to move on timeline?

Has anyone worked out how to sync audio and video within Premiere Pro but have the Audio stay fixed on the timeline and the video move? Every way I try it Premiere Pro insists on moving the audio. Locking the track does not work as you cannot select the audio within it to Sync with.
I have a music video shoot with 14 camera angles used on the lead singer (don't ask me why). Multi-camera editing is not an option as there are too many sources for my brand new MacbookPro to handle. I think I would need the computer from Superman II to edit that many clips together.
What I am doing is syncing the first clip, the one Im going to use as the baseline fall back shot and then I need to sync other clips onto the timeline. However Premiere Pro insists on moving the audio to fit with the video not visa-versa.
    Any help would be appreciated.

@slitchfield: on the mentioned page, it is stated that "Improvements in screen real estate, with slimmer top status bar and optional (in some apps) bottom toolbar, meaning that all phones will have a larger useful display area."
But on the E6 the bottom toolbar decreases available screen size in most apps, most noticeable in Web browser where the full view has gone. The bottom toolbar is not optional, you can't configure it yourself.
And: "Homescreen widgets will now come in up to five different sizes (1x1, 2x1, 4x1, 2x2, 4x4) and allow a greater degree of interactivity.", but on the E6 they are in only one size, always with large borders and other visual effects.
So beware of differences between phones, perhaps some aspects of Belle work differently depending on the type of device.
"Notes now brings up a white (and AMOLED-unfriendly...) editing screen.": that you can change by switching themes, "Dark Solid for Anna" does a good job. It is a shame that the lines of Notes have gone though.
When switching themes, I found you have to restart the phone, otherwise the theme doesn't get properly loaded in all apps. Stopping/starting apps is not enough. So when experimenting and loading one theme after another, you may end up with disfunctional combinations of black-on-black and white-on-white, but it may not be due to the last theme. Also you may end up with a good combination that isn't around anymore the next time you restart your phone.

  • Syncing Audio with Merge Clips option and OMF export question/issue

    Hi,
In the past when I've edited video, when it came to syncing audio I always did it manually.  This time, using Premiere Pro CC, I used the merge clips option, to speed up the syncing audio process, which was a huge time saver with excellent results.
The question/issue I have..is that when I get my OMF exported for my sound editor, will this screw anything up, since on the project file, it doesn't use the original audio file, but the one that was merged.  And in the project list, I don't even need to have the original audio file listed, since it's already been merged into a clip, which I used in the project.  I know it's the same file used, but will it mess anything up since a merged clip audio was used instead of just dragging the original track onto the timeline?
    - Ken

A good way to know for sure (and therefore feel comfortable that you're doing the right thing) is to do a test OMF export, then open this in Audition. This ill show you exactly what you're exporting.

  • Sync audio to video

Hi, apologies if this question has been answered a billion times but it's abstract enough I'm not sure how to look it up.
I'm recording audio and video into iMovie, but the audio is through a mic, through a mixer with effects, and back out of the mixer into iMovie (right now through the external mic input, but maybe through an audio device in the future). So, when I play it back, the video is ahead of the audio by a few fractions of a second.
How do I sync that up live? I know just a little about things like SMPTE but I've never used it with live inputs, it's always been audio being synced to existing video I've already imported. Is that basically impossible with iMovie? I am not sure if the problem is that the mixer is actually introducing that much delay (I doubt it), or if it's iMovie that is screwing it up somehow. It appears out of sync by the same time amount throughout the entire video.
If that's impossible, it appears the only alternative is to save to media browser, open up garage band, import it, and then drag the audio track to the left a bit by manually (eyeballing) finding a sync point?
    Thanks!

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
Apart from the fact that you say your audio is ahead of your video, I'd assume your issue is one of delay because of your mixer. Since you can't extract audio in im08 and even if you could there seems no way to accurately manipulate it, I'd say you would be better looking at im6 for your particular workflow.

  • Issue - syncing Audio and Video Clips

    Hi Friends -
Definitely, I am newbie for - editing in this application (Adobe Premier CS6) .
My idea is to sync audio and video clip - 'based on clip markers' or 'based on Audio wave' .
But, in my machine, I dont see option to 'add clip markers' (in Marker Menu) for these clips, which are supposed to merge. And, coming 'based on Audio wave' -  I dont even see those options, when I select (both clips to be merged) and choose merge.
Am I missing any setting - Do I need to have any additional plugins for that? Can anyone pls. help regarding that.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Kireeti.

The audio option wasn't added until Premiere Pro CC.
You can set clip markers in the Source Monitor with the M key.

  • Syncing audio to video without re-rendering the video

I've just been given some sweetened audio content that I need to sync to my video which is H.264 PAL Anamorphic.
How do I output this synced content from the timeline insuring that FCP, QT or Compressor doesn't re-render (and/or re-compress) the video footage in my newly synced clip?
So far I've gotten a clip that has been squeezed again, (making my subject very thin!) & I've gotten a H.264 render on top of the already H.264 video clip (which looks horrible!).

When layering (3 or more layers) video in FCP6 using dvcpro hd material I have had problems with playback being able to keep up.
If I compress all my ftg to pal sd anamorphic using the h.264 codec, the playback is (for the most part) able to keep up.
When I go to output my final edit, I replace my pal sd anamorphic h.264 footage with my original DVCPRO HD 1080i50 footage by reconnecting the media in the browser.
However, if you can suggest a way that I can sufficiently playback, (at as close to realtime as possible), 3 or more simultaneous layers of dvcpro hd 1080i50 footage (from a Lacie external drive connected via firewire 800) on my MacBook Pro (2.6Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB of memory) without frames dropping, stuttering and/or freezing, than please please please could you do so for me?
In other words, what would be the best setup for my system (audio/video & timeline settings)?
