Issue - syncing Audio and Video Clips

Hi Friends -
Definitely, I am newbie for - editing in this application (Adobe Premier CS6) .
My idea is to sync audio and video clip - 'based on clip markers' or 'based on Audio wave' .
But, in my machine, I dont see option to 'add clip markers' (in Marker Menu) for these clips, which are supposed to merge. And, coming 'based on Audio wave' -  I dont even see those options, when I select (both clips to be merged) and choose merge.
Am I missing any setting - Do I need to have any additional plugins for that? Can anyone pls. help regarding that.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Kireeti.

The audio option wasn't added until Premiere Pro CC.
You can set clip markers in the Source Monitor with the M key.

  • MERGING AND SYNCING more then one audio and video clip?

Is there are way to select a bin of video clips and a bin of audio clips (DSLR with separate audio) and have Premiere analyze and sync them in batches like Avid. I have a mountain of audio and video clips, but with no rhyme or reason to the file name, no timecode, no slates, just waveforms. But without knowing which audio files go with which video files, it’s impossible (or least time-consuming).
Or do I have to use plural eyes or other synchronising program for doing that?
    THanks.

Do the video clips have audio. That is, are you seeking to match A/V clips with audio-only clips? If so, then Premiere can do that. Select all the clips in both bins, right-click & select Create Multicam Source Sequence, and select Sync by Audio.
Whenever Premiere finds that two or more clips match each other but no others in the batch, it creates a multicam source sequence of just those clips.

  • Syncing Audio and Video but wish for the Audio not to move on timeline?

Has anyone worked out how to sync audio and video within Premiere Pro but have the Audio stay fixed on the timeline and the video move? Every way I try it Premiere Pro insists on moving the audio. Locking the track does not work as you cannot select the audio within it to Sync with.
I have a music video shoot with 14 camera angles used on the lead singer (don't ask me why). Multi-camera editing is not an option as there are too many sources for my brand new MacbookPro to handle. I think I would need the computer from Superman II to edit that many clips together.
What I am doing is syncing the first clip, the one Im going to use as the baseline fall back shot and then I need to sync other clips onto the timeline. However Premiere Pro insists on moving the audio to fit with the video not visa-versa.
    Any help would be appreciated.

@slitchfield: on the mentioned page, it is stated that "Improvements in screen real estate, with slimmer top status bar and optional (in some apps) bottom toolbar, meaning that all phones will have a larger useful display area."
But on the E6 the bottom toolbar decreases available screen size in most apps, most noticeable in Web browser where the full view has gone. The bottom toolbar is not optional, you can't configure it yourself.
And: "Homescreen widgets will now come in up to five different sizes (1x1, 2x1, 4x1, 2x2, 4x4) and allow a greater degree of interactivity.", but on the E6 they are in only one size, always with large borders and other visual effects.
So beware of differences between phones, perhaps some aspects of Belle work differently depending on the type of device.
"Notes now brings up a white (and AMOLED-unfriendly...) editing screen.": that you can change by switching themes, "Dark Solid for Anna" does a good job. It is a shame that the lines of Notes have gone though.
When switching themes, I found you have to restart the phone, otherwise the theme doesn't get properly loaded in all apps. Stopping/starting apps is not enough. So when experimenting and loading one theme after another, you may end up with disfunctional combinations of black-on-black and white-on-white, but it may not be due to the last theme. Also you may end up with a good combination that isn't around anymore the next time you restart your phone.

  • Audio and video clip lengths differ in encore timeline

    Hi
I have been working to build a BD-R H.263 ac3 disk.  I used AME from within Premiere Pro to export the M4V and (at the same time) AC3, using the present defualt parameters-no tweaking of any setting.  The clips appear to play great on encore's monitor--everything in sync. And on the burned BD-R
However, I am getting the black screen between clips in the timeline when played in the standalone BD player, or (when I had one clip to a timeline) in a playlist.  a previous poster made note of different length audio and video clips.  I zoomed on the timeline and lo and behold--the  the audio and video clips are different lengths.
This is with the timeline fully expand--each division is a frame. Note that break between the two audio clips is offset from the break between the two video clips by two frames.  This offset is after several clips.  I could find no information on what the one frame crosshatching at the end of the leading clips means.  Can anyone explain this cross hatching?  What do I do about it?  the image below is after the first clip in the timeline:
In this image, the offset is less than a full frame??????
I tried using the trim tools to bring these together-but, the trim tool only lets it jump a full frame and then only to a GOP boundary, which doesn't help because the boundaries are obviously different fro the video and audio track.
I want to emphasize that these assets were created from the Premiere CS4 timeline (which had no offset between audio and video) using the default H.263 and AC3 presets in AME and the same presets selected in Encore.
The offsets do not appear to cause the actual audio and video to go out of sync when I play the burned disk. But, I get the 1-2 second wait between menus and chapters, or with items in a playlist.
The audio offset suggests that the player may not know what to do when faced with a chapter point that is different on the audio and video tracks, although, I will note that encore snapped to the joints in the video track not the audio track.
You can see from this listing that several of the clips audio and video lengths that differ by one frame.  By the end of the timeline, the cummulative offset is 3 seconds (48 minute timeline)
Can anyone shed any light on this?  Thanks

I don't think that I had the same problem that you do, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents just in case it might help. Encore would not build the output; it said something like the inpoint and the length did not match the endpoint. Actually, I think this happened in several different situations. In one case I simply adjusted the audio and video tracks to match endpoints. In the other case I went back to Premier and found that in some cases where I had added transitions it had shifted the endpoints of the audio and video tracks so they did not match. I removed the transitions. It didn't matter that much to me since I'm doing this for personal use. Is it possible those crosshatched lines you're seeing are transitions?
I am using CS 3 and editing HD. I have had many problems with encore. I read in the form someplace that it had a hard time handling H.264 so I changed to MPEG-2 and that fixed one problem. In another case it couldn't find some files and I found some advice not to use HD or wide menus, so I switched to standard 4:3 menus and it worked.

Before anyone would be able to provide any troubleshooting steps, you would need to describe what "issues" means. Try describing your problem in detail, as well as what troubleshooting you have already tried before posting your question here. That way no one is wasting your time by asking you to perform steps that you have already taken.

  • Syncing audio and video with timecode

What is the best way to sync audio and video files from a one camera shoot on which the camera was jammed with timecode from the mixer? Is there a batch method? Is it best done with a third party application or within Premier?
    Camera is Canon C300
    Adobe Premier Pro CC
    Windows Operating system
The project is a 15 page short film shot over four days. Lots of dialogue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is "merge assets" different from "merge..."? I see the timecode option in "merge...".

  • How to synchronize multiple, unorganized audio- and video clips

I'm editing a video with audio recorded by an external recorder.
I've been given a lot of unorganized files and I wonder if there's a quick way to synchronize them all without knowing which audio- and video file that fit together.

I've been pretty amazed by how well the synchronize clips command works. You might take a chance and select all of your audio/video files at once, right click and choose Synchronize Clips.

  • Linking/Syncing Audio and Video

I think I'm just on the edge of understanding if this can work:
I have a rough cut of a few clips using on-camera audio. I also recorded with a separate audio recorder. I want to somehow link the secondary audio to the primary audio and the source video clips, so that the secondary audio will be added to the rough cut without me having to go and re-sync each edit with the corresponding secondary audio. Is it possible to sync additional audio to a source file and have it reflected in an edited sequence?

Lining up each camera clip with the associated audio in its own sequence and then editing using those sequences instead of the original clips is one of the better ways to proceed given your starting point.
Audio drift shouldn't be apparent over reasonable lengths of clip (say up to 10 or 20 minutes) depending on the stability of the clock in the audio device.  Many of the past reports were due to some manufacturers using slightly off-standard audio rates which Premiere then assumed to be correct and hence generated out-of-sync issues over around 30 minutes or more.  Not your problem here.
If, when you check the audio sync over a whole clip, you find it is OK at the start but out at the end, then setting a marker on both video and audio near the end and using rate stretch on the audio to change its length by a small amount to line up the markers should give good enough sync for the clip.

  • Re-Syncing Audio and Video

After capturing in FC Express I find all my audio/video is about 10 frames out of sync. Tape was shot on an old Canon XL and transfered to FCE on a Sony DV deck.
My settings in Easy Set Up are DV NTSC Firewire Basic. Do you know if changing settings will make any difference on a new capture?
I am able to slip the audio 10  frames on each clip in the timeline but doing it every edit is a pain. Is there a way to advance audio or video 10 frames in the Viewer to do the whole hour of capture at one time. Thank you.

It makes a difference if the audio is offset the same amount all through the video; or if it gradually drifts further out of sync over time.
If it's a fixed offset I think your best bet is to place the entire captured clip on the timeline, unlink the audio from the video, slip the audio back into sync, then export the entire clip to a self-contained QT Movie; then re-import the exported QT file and use it for editing nstead of your original captured clip.
If the audio drifts, you probably had a mismatch between your FCE easy setup and the actual audio recording on tape. This usually happens when the tape was recorded with 12-bit audio (aka 32KHz) but your easy setup is 16-bit audio (aka 48KHz).   It also happens sometimes when you record the video on one device but capture with a different device (eg Canon XL2 vs. Sony DV deck).  BTW, the NTSC Firewire Basic easy setup expects 48KHz audio.

  • SUBCLIP CREATES OUT OF SYNC AUDIO AND VIDEO

I have a problem which I hope someone out there can help me solve. I just recently upgraded to FCP 6.0.4.
In attempting to create a subclip, I follow these steps: set in and out points for the clip on the timeline, select the video and audio, link the clip's video and audio, double click the clip from timeline to bring subclip into browser, make subclip (modify > make subclip).
After naming the subclip, I double click on it to bring it into the browser for viewing. Here's where the problem comes in.
The duration of the subclip is always much too long. I noticed that the subclip's in point is always incorrect. It is always the starting timecode of the audio from the timeline (e.g. 00:01:05:00). The ending timecode is always correct though (i.e. the out point).
The subclip plays the audio at the beginning of the clip, but the video is blacked out until the very end of the subclip, at which time the audio is silent as it has already played out.
Does anyone know why I'm getting these bizarre subclips and what I need to do to correct this problem?
    Your help is much appreciated.

  • QT audio and video clips on web site not playing

    Hello,
I recently did a clean new install of Leopard 10.5.8 and since then there is a site I used to go on that played QT video and audio clips just fine, but now, although the QT symbols are present, neither the audio or the video clips operate.
The clips used to just load on the site automatically and they would operate when I clicked on PLAY before I did the new install.
I've downloaded the latest QT Player, Version 7.6.2 (518).
Here is a sample page, it's a Japanese language learning site - when I open this site I can only see the QT symbols where the video and audio clips usually load - but you will probably see the actual clips load just fine if your system is working OK.
    http://www.dartmouth.edu/~kanji/kanji0301.html
It's a great site when the clips are working but it's not so useful when they don't.
I've written to the site's webmaster - they don't reply - tho' I don't think it's anything wrong with the site since it only went wrong after I did a new OSX install, I think there's a switch somewhere on my system that needs activating.
Can anyone help me get these clips working?
    Thnx a lot.
    Ann

You going to some how get in contact with the site's webmaster. I know you said you tried but the webmaster can only answer your question about the Qt videos. I tried to load the URL for the video into the Quicktime Player and all I get is ... The URL is not valid alert box. I even tried it in Firefox, didn't work.
It the site that's having problems and not something on your part. Installing your OS didn't cause this...

  • Error while trying to sync audio and video.

Suddenly out of the blue I'm have all sorts of problems with Logic 8. I keep getting the "error while trying to synchronize audio and midi" error message. Even when I'm just using using the audio side. Do you know of a local logic tech that could check out my system? Might be a problem with my motu 828mk11 audio interface or corrupt drivers, bad preferences. I'm unable to do any work in Logic until I get this problem solved.

(Did you do any upgrades with the Firewire plugged in?)
Usually a MOTU reset will fix this.
Follow these steps to restore the 828mkII to Factory Default Settings.
•Disconnect the firewire cable from the 828mkII
    •Press the Setup knob
•Turn the Setup knob all the way to the right
    •Press the Select knob
    •Press the Value knob
•Power off the interface and plug the firewire cable back in
    •Power the interface back on
    http://www.motu.com/techsupport/technotes/document.2004-06-16.6405589976/view
    If that doesn't work.
    1) Unplug ALL cables from the 828MkII.
    2) Double check that the power cord is really unplugged.
    3. Switch the voltage switch on the side from your setting (110 in the US) to the other setting and back a few times.
    4) Make sure you've set the voltage switch back to the right setting for your country.
    5) Plug everything back in.

  • Need help syncing audio and video

    Hello,
I am fairly new to this Mac and Final Cut Pro. Over the weekend, I recorded some video and audio separately and am now attempting to piece them together. I can get the two in sync for about a minute and after that they no longer line up. I was told the root of the problem was that the sound was recorded at 32 bits and needs to be 16 bits to sync up with the video in FCP, however, after I rendered the sound clip and checked up on its settings, I discovered that it was 16 bits. So now I am completely stumped. Any ideas?
    Thank you.
    Jamie

Seems like that person is a little lost on the subject.
Do this. Open FCP, go into Audio Video settings under the Final Cut Pro menu, then click on the Sequence Presets tab. (Forget about an Easy Setup, because you are not capturing. Easy setup is only if you want to match capture settings to sequence settings and playback settings. You are only concerned with sequence settings.)
In the Sequence settings tab, locate the Apple Pro Res 422 1920x1080 (or the corresponding aspect ratio for your footage), and press duplicate. Then, go into the duplicate setting and change the editing time base to 30 from 29.97, and change the timecode rate to Non-Drop frame. Label this something different so you know where to find it when you need it.
Now, when you start a project, go into the A/V Settings and choose this as the Sequence preset. Make sure you convert your footage with either Compressor or MPEG Streamclip to ProRes 422 before you edit. Do NOT use the native H.264 files that the camera creates.
The reason the blogger couldn't do it was because they were relying on Easy Setups. You can't set up a capture preset for 30 fps, because tape plays at 29.97. But you aren't capturing from a tape. You're just importing files.

  • FCP7; "unmerge" merged audio and video clips in the timeline?

Our TC was way off in some areas due to a bad timecode lemo on set. My editor synched by slate then merged the video with an audio mixdown track using the in points. Now when I export an EDL the original TC from the audio clip is gone, so he has no reference for matching up the audio. Does anybody know of a way to un-merge these clips and restore the original filename (audio takes the name of merged video but reveals correctly in finder) and timecode? Thanks.

what happens if you match frame the audio?  I would think it would match back to the source audio clip which you could then use to replace the audio in the timeline.
