Sync on commit - How ?

In Oracle text, updatng the index must not be the same as updating a simple index on a table. how does Oracle execute the index update?
if I have sync on commit enabled will Oracle Text update the table in one transaction and sync the index in another transaction? are they saperate transactions? is it possible to have updated the table and have the index update fail?

You might want to read [How Oracle Text processes DML|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/text/htdocs/text_dml_processing.html] for a basic understanding of Oracle Text indexing.
It doesn't cover "sync on commit" as that didn't exist when it was written.
Sync on commit isn't truly transactional. The person performing the commit will never see unindexed, committed changes (because the call won't return until the changes are indexed), but other users may. From their point of view, the table change is committed, then the sync is performed immediately after.
If transactional behaviour is truly important to you (it's rarely needed, but users often SAY they want it) then you can use the "transactional" keyword. However, I would strongly recommend avoiding this as it can have serious performance implications.

Items not showing up in CONTEXT SYNC ON COMMIT index

My problem is, sometimes users can't find an item when searching (index is CONTEXT SYNC ON COMMIT), however, when I change the index column, the item shows up. I can even tell the index column was changed before at one point because i put a string representing the date and time in there.
Here's how I have it set up (very similar to this anyway):

As far as I know indexing is supposed to be automatic on commit. I don't understand why any row would not get indexed. Any ideas?

The problem just fixed itself. I got irritated and quit messing with it. When I came back an hour later, it was fixed.

we do what your doing... we use the same ID for "Icloud".
We do NOT use the same ID for: Face time and Imessage

I have the newest version of the iPad and can not see it under devices in my iTunes account on my PC. I can however see my iPod touch under devices and sync it. How can I get my iPad to show under devices and sync as well?

Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard.

You can only inspect the sync key via manage account if this device is has been setup and is connected to the sync server.
You can find the sync account password and the sync (recovery) key in the password manager on computers where a sync account with a specific e-mail address has been set up.
Look for:

* chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Encryption Passphrase)
You can look at this version of the about:synckey extension that I have modified to show the sync key in current Firefox versions (desktop and mobile).

Let me first say that I am NO EXPERT with anything Apple and really have only started looking into this iCloud stuff a few hours ago because I'm trying to help my mom free up some space on her iCloud. But anyway, here's what I'm learning and what I THINK might be happening to you.
Also, if any Apple support people (do they browse the forums to dish out helpful hints?) or people who probably know infinitely more than me about this stuff, please do chime in and confirm / correct my statements!
This is what I gather.
iCloud for Windows is set up with a local folder (let's call it "C:\Users\Administrator\Pictures\iCloud Photos\My Photo Stream") where iCloud will store photos uploaded to the Photo Stream. This will allow you to view your Photo Stream photos on your PC.
This does not mean that this is a PC backup of your Photo Stream photos, but just a way to view your Photo Stream from your PC. That being said, the general Photo Stream rules apply: 1. No videos are on the photo-stream, and 2. Photos on the Photo Stream will be removed after ~30 days and/or after hitting the Photo Stream limit of 1000 photos.
My guess is that the iCloud Windows App will delete photos from the local folder that are older than ~30 days and/or delete all but the most recent 1000 items if the 1000-item limit is reached.
That is a scary thought! I really hope you did not lose all your pictures, but my guess is that the iCloud local folder is NOT meant for backup but instead is the iCloud Windows App's sandbox for updating and managing Photo Stream photos.
All that being said, I'd say it's important to back up your photos in a separate folder not related to the iCloud local folder.

Touch doesn't automatically sync...how to fix?

Until recently, I put my Touch into my sync cradle, and it would instantly sync up.
However, now, when I do the same thing, nothing happens. I must boot iTunes first, and only then sync happens. How do I get it so where sync occurs as soon as my Touch is in the cradle?

when your Touch is connected, check the summary pane. there should be a "tickable" option to +sync automatically+ or some such.

What do you mean you "lost sync" on your iPhone? Is it not updating? Did the app disappear? You should look at [[Firefox Home does not work]]. There are a lot of good troubleshooting steps in there. It will show you how to refresh sync if your data isn't updating.
If you really just want to start fresh, you should delete the app from both iTunes and from your device, then sync. This is important. If you only delete it from your device, iTunes will put the old copy with all of your old settings back onto your phone. If you want a fresh copy, delete it from both and then reinstall. That'll give you a clean install.

This usually means you don't have enough storage on your iPad to do the update. Go to Settings > General > About and check how much memory is available. If you have less than 5GB you'll need to either delete data off your iPad, such as apps, photos, music, videos.
OR
Connect your iPad ot your computer and update iOS via iTunes sync.
