Syncing files after patching

Is there a recommended way to sync the .class and .xml files on your local machine (to be used with JDeveloper extensions) with the same files that are on the application server after a patch has been applied? It seems like a manual process to me. Is there such a thing as applying a corresponding patch to your local machine to get the new files updated by an application patch?

Basically, if you create your customization classes by extending Oracle seeded classes and follow the nameing standards, you don't need to worry about the impacts upon the customization classes caused by applying the patches.
Let's take a look at the xml files stored on the Apps server file system. No only these files, but also the customization uix files (uix files are xml files also) need to be checked.
Before we find an Oracle way to do it, we need to save a copy of the original xml file some where, like PVCS, for xml files comparison after the patch was applied.
An Unix script or any other kind of program, will be needed to "diff" the current xml file from the original xml file to identify the impacted xml file which you built your customization xml file on before.
If the patch had the impact on your customizations. You have to manually check to see whether you need to update your customizations or not and deploy it again if it's the update is needed.
