Syncing iOS and macbook contacts?????

Is it asking too much to be able to have synced contacts?I know that Microsoft obviously has a vested interest in helping only Microsoft customers, but face it, Apple people use skype also, as problem laden as it is, it is still used. My main quandary...why is it so impossible to add a name and number in skype on my iphone? Using a iphone 4s. What I have tried to do is add contacts from my contact book in the phone but skype will only let me add "skype people'. Why are you alienating non skype people? I have a ridiculous subscription to be able to use the phone to call ANY number and unless I dial it in by hand I cannot reach them. Then even if I dial it, I CANNOT go and and edit that same number to put a name in it. I tried to add contacts on the macbook and hope that the contacts synced. But lo and behold it DID NOT sync. Hi, hopefully I can help you out. First things first - make sure you're up to date. To get the latest Skype iOS client, you need to have at least iOS 7 installed on your device.When writing this, the latest public Skype iOS client is 5.14, you should try to update to this version if you haven't already. After logging in you should swipe to the "people" tab and you should see a dropdown saying either "all contacts", "Skype contacts" or "online contacts". To get your iPhone contacts to show up please select "all contacts" and then you should see them in the list and be able to place calls to them over Skype. Note that selecting this can prompt you to give Skype access to your address book.This should take care of your issue on iPhone. To get the same thing working on your Mac you should first make sure you have the same contacts you're interested in in your Mac Contacts application (synced over iCloud from iOS to Mac). From there again Skype can access them (you can enable this from Skype - Preferences - Show Mac Contacts). These contacts will show up in a separate contact group on Contacts page under Mac Contacts tab (as shown on the screenshot below) Hopefully this helps. -Rene---------- Skype for Mac

OS X Server - Notes Sync - iOS and Mac

Hi - I'm using OS X Server to sync notes, contacts, calendars and mail. When I add the account to my Mac, the notes application is empty. When the same account is added to an iPhone and an iPad, the notes application displays all of the my notes.
The iPhone and iPad remain in sync when changes are made, however
the same account on the Mac will not display any of the notes.
The mailbox is working properly both in Apple Mail and iOS mail;
push works properly for Mail and Notes on iOS.
I've tried activating the same IMAP account on a different user profile on the same and different Macs, same result on all. I'm wondering if the Mac clients are attempting to connect to a different IMAP path.
What's really weird is this was all working properly last night. I started working on a note from my Mac, after having synced all of my other notes, but then noticed it had never synced over to my iphone. After trying to remove the account from my Mac, all of the notes disappeared. I've removed and re-added the account in iOS and it was able to sync back all of the previous notes.
Both the iPhone and iPad are running iOS 7; the Macs are all running OS X Mountain Lion (and ML Server).

Thanks for the suggestion. I played around my settings bfore I saw your reply.
I solve the issue this way. I had set up my client to connect to my server for mail, contact, calendar and notes by selecting Add another account/Add an OS X server account in the system preferences. Doing this, Notes would take forever to get a check mark. Re-opening the systems preference pane, there would be 2 accounts for my server, on for contacts and calendar, the other one for mail. Again, trying to turn on Notes would fail.
I deleted the this account (Mail,notes) and took a different path to add my erver mail account.
I went through Add other account/Add a mil account. Entered my server credentials and mail and notes set up without issues.
I tried to see if things were syncing between iOS and OS X. It worked both ways without issues.
I tried changing the setup dor authentification after this was working, and it did not seem to make a difference.

Sync issue and lost contacts

My wife and I share an iTunes account. We have never had any problems until now. She hasnt updated her phone in a long time. Her screen shattererd on her 4 and I still had my old one so she switched to mine. When she did, I lost all of my contacts on my 5 and it all reverted to her contacts. (not good by the way because my iphone is also my work phone.) Everytime I try to restore my phone to a previous backup, it comes up and my contacts look normal for about 15 seconds, then my phone automatically reverts back to her contacts. I have tried turning off contacts sync in the settings but it still doesnt help. I have no idea what to do here as I am running out of ideas and I REALLY need all of those numbers back. Any help or tips would be extremely appreciated.

Not sure if this will work for you but this method was developed by another user to all one to restore contacts from a backup while preventing iCloud from overwriting them. If you wife's contacts aren't backed up, do that first using the app My Contacts Backup as this approach will require deleting them from iCloud.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete the iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).

Does anyone have a way to sync IPhone and Mail To Do List?

unless you delete your to dos then once checked they will still appear in the to do list alongside the incomplete ones.
one work around is to create smart mailboxes, one for your completed to dos, and one for your the others. to create a smart mailbox, go to mailbox>create smart mailbox, then for the rule, select to dos and then select to dos are complete, to dos are incomplete. once these smart mailboxes are created you can then view your to dos with less cluter.

Unable to use AirPlay from multiple iOS and MacBook pro

HI, I seem to be having issues using AirPlay From multiple iOS devices.
I have the following devices, iphone 6 plus, iPad air (both Gen 1 and 2) an iPad 2 and a MacBook Pro running Yosemit. I also have 2 Apple TVs (both gen 1 and 2).
Recently I have found that I am unable to use AirPlay on any of the iOS devices to either Apple TVs, the MacBook Pro will Airplay mirror ok, I am however able to use iTunes shairing from a Windows 8PC. I have restarted and also reset both Apple TVs and my router, I have also reset the connection settings on all the iOS devices but still can't resolve the issue.
The Apple TVs have Internet connection so I can't see any issues network connections.
ANyone else got got any Ideas?

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Restart your mobile device.

The option to directly sync my iphone contacts with my Mac's seem to have disappeared from iTunes. Given that I haven't (and don't want to) upload my contacts to apple's icloud servers, how can I do a simple synchronization?

I believe it is. I'm not a Mac user, but if you were to search the forum, there have been a number of threads regarding Mavericks and syncing, so a search of those terms will more than likely yield results that discuss the server information. I remember reading information, but since it did not pertain to me, I did not retain enough.

Just synced iPhone and SOME contacts gone from phone, still in address book

I just synced my iPhone for the first time in a couple weeks. The software is up to date, as is iTunes...
Anyhow, I noticed some of my contacts had disappeared when I looked in my SMS messages and a lot of them just had numbers where names used to be. Checked my contacts and a lot of contacts are missing.
They are still in my address book on my mac, and I have the correct folders checked so they should sync, but it is not doing so.
Photos, calendars, music/vid sync as normal.
What is going on? This is VERY annoying.

Have you noticed if it's a specific group that is not syncing correctly, or is it random contacts from all groups? If it's just a specific group, you may need to delete that group in Address Book and recreate it.
If it's random contacts from all groups and if all of the contacts you want on the iPhone are in Address Book, you can just select "Contacts" from the Advanced section down at the bottom of the Info tab. That will replace all contacts on the iPhone with those that you have selected to sync from Address Book.

Syncing Imac and MacBook

I have an older IMac G5 2 GHz running leopard 10.5.8, and a MacBook running the same - I would love to be able to make them sync everything - I take my MacBook to work, then when I come home I'd like to push some button such that they connect and the Imac finds anything different on the MacBook and makes them equal.

Problems Syncing Gmail and Verizon Contacts

Since I got this phone, I've been having problems getting it to sync my contacts with gmail and with the Verizon Backup Assistant.
For Gmail, it seems to actually be updating the contacts (both from the .com to the phone and vice versa) but I always have a "sync error" noted under "Sync Contacts" for my main gmail address when I look at the account under "Accounts and Sync". (its a red exclaimation point next to "Sync Contacts" under the account info). Its not really a problem I guess, but the error message bugs me. The full message under "Accounts and Sync" is "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." This message has always been there.
For the Verizon Backup Assistant, I can only seem to get it to sync if I do it from the website for backup assistant (and that only works sometimes). It does not work from the phone when i hit the "back up now" tab in the Verizon Backup Assistant. Also it never has backed up any of my google/gmail contacts. On the few occasions when it has worked, it only backs up those contacts that have the little orange headshot which denotes a verizon contact.
I have spoken with Verizon support twice. They promise they will open a ticket/escalate the issue and call me back, but I never hear another word from them. After a failed attempt, the phone will continue to try to sync to Verizon Backup Assistant and send me repeated messages that it failed. Finally, I just have to shut the app down to stop the notifications.
BTW, I really don't care about the Verizon Backup Assistant, except that it needs to be on and working in order for the "wipe" function to work through the Assurion program if the phone is lost or stolen.
I have made sure that all my contacts have been 'joined' so it should work. Has anyone else had these problems with the Charge?

Had the same issues since I use my Droid for business and personal so I have > 2,000 contacts. The problem is Verizon Backup times out trying to import it all. As the Verizon Technical folks told me,. the Backup Assistant was made for a semi-smart phone like Blackberry where I had no issues in synching the phone since it has half the capabilities and features. These new phones can import 2-3X the data and features so it takes too much time.
First item: Export your Gmail contacts out of Google into a CSV file depending on the operating system you have. I'm on Windows 7 so CSV Windows and save your file to your Desktop.
Next TURN OFF your Synch capabilities on your Charge by going to OPTIONS/ACCOUNTS & SYNC and UNCHECK the Auto-synch box and the Background data boxes.
Next, got to the Verizon website, log-in and Click on My Verizon, then click on Backup Assistant at My Device Tab and import the file into Backup Assistant via the CSV import command that is on the Right side of this page down below where is says IMPORT CONTACTS. Once completed, it may take a while ( with my contact data base about 30 minutes) it should show your contacts on the screen. Log out and go back to your Charge OPTIONS/ACCOUNTS & SYNC and CHECK the Auto-synch box and the Background data boxes back to ON. Over the course of the next 1/2 hour or two, you will see your contacts start showing up depending if you are on 4G or wireless. Also make sure you are synching to your gmail account under Manage Accounts and you have Gmail selected. Since I'm on Outlook Exchange I just use Outlook (Until that time Google lets you imput multiple contacts from the same company instead of one at a time approach) and have GMail turned off.
Not sure about Google, but I know Verizon is using IntelliSync which is the same software Palm used on it's Palm Pilots to synch the data since I have seen it come up as it works really well. So once it has the core data base in there, it will synch all the updates/deletions no problem. I set mine to synch in the late evening since less traffic at that time. Let me know if this solves your problem.

We are just users, so we cannot tell you the answer. AirDrop is not designed to transfer files between an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and a Mac yet.
