Syncing Issues with newest iPod update
I was trying to put music onto my iPod touch (4th gen. iOs 5.0.1) when the autofill feature started to add a ton of music that i did not want. I stopped the autofill feature but when I tried to add the music manually I was not allowed to do so. I dragged the highligted album over the iPod icon and dropped the music into the iPod. All seemed normal for a split second but the music was never added. What is going on and how can I add the music? Can I turn off the auto fill feautre?
Welcome to Apple Discussions!
1) Make sure you are removing the volume limit (so there isn't one) See here...
Setting the maximum volume limit on iPod
2) Make sure EQ and/or sound check are not enabled/weren't enabled before and are now not enabled. Set them if you like. Sound check may lower the volume of some songs.
On your iPod go to settings-->sound check. Make sure it is off.
Also, go to settings--EQ on your iPod. Make sure that is set the way you want it.

Sync issues with .mac & iPods / iTunes
Hi,
I have recently been getting sync issues with both my .mac account and iTunes. (all iPods)
To be exact, it is having trouble syncing my address book.
For iTunes, I can sync everything but my calendars and address book. (It freezes) My iPods work fine in syncing when I turn of the Ical / Address book sync feature.
and when my .mac sync starts, my computer freezes. (When trying to sync my address book)
This has only happened over the past week and I think its due to recent updates for the iPhone.
Can someone from Apple investigate this please....HI Dean,
Try trashing the preference files:
com.apple.isync.plist
com.apple.addressbook.plist
They are here: Home/Library/Preferences. Open the Prefs folder, locate those files, drag them to the Trash and reboot. See if that helps.

Playlist Sync Issues with new iPod Touch 8G
Hi Guys - This my first post. Just got an iPod Touch 8G for Christmas, and I'm
having some issues with SyncĂng it and would appreciate some guidance.
I previously used a Sony PSP as my portable music player, and so my music
is organised into folders, with a .m3u playlist for each folder.
To get the music and the playlist onto the iPod, I tried to use the followqing procedure:
1. Downloaded and installed iTunes
2. Registered my iPod and signed up for the iTunes Store
3. Added one of my folders to the iTunes Library
4. Synchronised with my iPod (I selected Manually manage music and videos)
Checked that all the songs were downloaded successfully to the iPod, and
play on the iPOD.
5. Imported the .m3u playlist into iTunes(File->Library->Import Playlist).
Checked it had all items and could play the tracks from the library.
For some reason, the tracks from the folder now appear twice in the
Library after this step.
6. Attempted to sync the playlist to the iPOD. The playlist has 249 tracks,
but for some reason the sync operation fails with error message "Attempting
to copy to the disk 'Joseph Olajubu's iPod' failed. The disk could not be
written to or read from".
The playlist is partially copied, with between 49 and 208 entries (depending on the sync attempt). Playing the songs from the ipod or creating the playlist directly on the iPOD works. Any idea what's going wrong here? I've tried this operation on 2 different computers with similar results. The iPOD has around 4.5G memroy free. Alternatively, is there software like Anapod available for the iPod Touch if this is an iTunes bug?
Thanks in advance for your helpBump

Mail sync issue with new iPod Touch
I have been unable to successfully perform an initial mail sync using my new iPod Touch 32 GB with Version 3.1.1.
All is being successfully sync'd with the exception of mail. The error box when I click on mail with the iTouch reads - "Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the server mail.me.com failed"
I have an active .Mac account. I can successfully log into "mobileme" via my G5 1.8 dual running OS X 10.5.8. My cable web provider is Comcast in the Middle TN area.
Thanks in advance with any suggestions.
DjayI found my "issue" is not an issue when I was able to access WiFi. The touch downloaded my messages! I was naively "assuming" that the initial setup via iTunes would have provided my initial message download.
Marking this "false alarm" as solved. I'll avoid "jumping the gun" on my next hurdle. -
Audiobook sync issue with 2 ipods on ONE account... how to???
Hi, I have 2 ipods connected to my mac which we only use one account.
The problem I have just discovered is if we sync audiobooks to one ipod, start listening to it and then we sync that book on the other ipod the history of of where you were at in the progress of ''reading" is lost as it now keeps track of where the most recent listener is.
I know I can resolve this by creating two user accounts but I would like to avoid this if possible.
Is there a way to sync the SAME audiobook on 2 ipods without loosing the history of progress while only using ONE account.
Please feel free to ask me to clarify if needed.I noticed that I have a protected audiobook file downloaded from iTunes. It was a free download.
So I tried making a duplicate in the same folder where the original file was kept. When I dragged the duplicate to the iTunes window, I got a second listing for the book (in iTunes). Checking the +Get Info+ for each instance of the audiobook, I saw that each one was for a different file (original and duplicate).
If your iTunes does not act this way, it may be one of the preference settings. Go to iTunes Preferences Advanced pane General tab. I have +Keep iTunes Music folder organized+ checked. I do NOT have +Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library+ checked. If you have that second option checked, when you drag the duplicate file to the open iTunes window, it may see the file is already there and not do anything OR it may replace the original file and therefore not create a second listing in iTunes. -
Sync Issues with 2.3 Update
My AppleTV auto-updated to 2.3 the day before Thanksgiving and, in the process, wiped all my media. This was not the end of the world, though very irritating as we wanted to use the ATV to play music & show photos when we had guests over for the holidays.
That night I had to re-link my library and re-sync all my media (only about 20 gigs of music & picts, with a little video). It did NOT sync everything, and I had to repeat the sync the following night. At that point most everything was on there, though when I went to add another folder of photos it hiccuped on the sync. The pictures showed up on the ATV library but the album title never appeared in the menu. Weird.
Now, today, I fired up iTunes and for some reason my ATV had decided it needs to sync ALL of its media. AGAIN. Obviously not the end of the world, but a wifi sync is slow as molasses and drags my entire network to a crawl.
Some details about my setup:
-Custom iTunes sync with about 20 gigs of music/picts
-My media is hosted on a NAS drive attached to my Time Capsule
-ATV software 2.3, MacBook software 10.5.5, iTunes 8.0.2

IPhone Sync Issues with new iTunes update
Well this morning my iphone would not sync past calenders. I was able to cancel the sync and get music on the phone but it wont go through the usual sync process of the photo library and contacts etc...anyone else having a similar problem?
Well its simple. Just go to your finder and search for iphone. You will find a backup folder. But, you should just be able to restore your iphone. Then after restore it will ask which backup your will like to use. Then in the drop down menu select your phones name and it should restore all contacts, text messages and notes as well as bookmarks. It worked fine for me until I used iFuntastic and Apptap. I guess it alterd the backup file and deleted all my notes. So, unless you have "hacked" your phone it should restore and re enter your info fine.

Ipod classic syncing issues with itunes
My IPod classic wont sync anymore and I fear the harddrive might be shot. the ipod deleted all my music randomly, I have restored it but now I cant get it to sync properly with itunes.
Itunes recognises it, and starts syncing (in manual and auto) however it freezes a few songs in and doesnt get any further. When I unplug the ipod, the error message comes up saying ipod sync failed, and lists a number of songs which it could not sync (different songs every time)
Is the problem with itunes or with the ipod harddrive?
Appriciate any help with this one,
thanks,

How do I get rid of lip-sync issues with iTunes 10.2.2.12?
Hi Everyone.
Firstly, a very Happy Easter!
I'm having lip-sync issues with iTunes playback on my PC. The video is largely smooth with the occaisional choppiness when the CPU is made to work hard. (Playback on my iPod Touch is fine).
The system stats for my PC are at the bottom of the post.
The sound is produced through a Creative Live Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 card.
Video is through a NVIDIA Geforce 6200 with 512Mb of RAM. (All video and audio drivers are up to date).
The physical set-up is that I have iTunes installed on the C drive and my media installed on an external USB hard-drive.This isn't just a problem with 10.2.2.12 - it's been there for the last few updates.
I suppose my main questions are:
Should iTunes and my media be on the same drive? (Which would mean the external drive as I'm short on space on the C drive).
Is there some combination of settings in QuickTime that will solve this? (I've tried different combinations, but it doesn't really help).
Is the spec (below) of my PC causing any issues.
Here's an Easter Egg for anyone able to help!!
All the best
BandAidUK.

ITunes sync issues with Windows 7 64k Bit
I am beyond frustrated! I have attempted for the past 3 days straight to figure out why iTunes keeps having syncing issues with all my devices- Nano 8GB, Touch 8GB, iPhone 3G 8GB. When I first connected the devices for the first time iTunes froze up and I had to hard boot. I then had to "restore" the devices as they were messed up. Since then I have had syncing issues. It says it is syncing but then it stops and freezes before it is finished and is unresponsive requiring me to end the program. Then my computer does not recognize the iPod is connected so I have to reboot my computer and it all starts over again. I'm not trying to sync a million song, 600 songs less than 2Gig.
Called Apple, they had me uninstall iTunes 9 and reload it. That did not fix the problem. Called back and they told me to go to the Apple store and have them check my devices (they did not as they said they were pretty sure it was not iTunes or my devices) that it was probably Windows 7. MS points the finger at iTunes 9, Apple points the finger at Windows 7... all the while me (the customer) has no resolution. I don't care what the issue is... I would just like to figure out how to fix it (if it's my computer fine...I'll take it in to have it fixed) but I just cant get anyone to help figure out what/where the issue is.
I have tried many of the "tricks" that are posted when you google the issue.. ie reinstall drivers etc. The "Genius" at the Apple store searchd and found something that said it might be my motherboard needing an updated driver (I updated that and nothing changed).
Would REALLY appreciate it if someone could help
Thanks!Hi,
Does your PC have a NVIDIA USB Enhanced Host Controller Interface (EHCI) chipset?
If it does, you may want to try the Microsoft hotfix available here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976972.
If not, try the general USB troubleshooting tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286

Sync issues with iPhone 6 Plus and iTunes
I'm having issues with syncing my iPhone and iTunes.
I am running: Mavericks 10.9.3 | iTunes 11.4 | iOS 8.0.2
Every time I try to sync my iPhone 6 Plus with iTunes, the sync process gets stuck on step 5 of 5 (waiting for changes to be applied). The longest this has occurred for is 2hrs. After this time I have stopped the sync and ejected my iPhone.
I had another issue with my phone when playing music. When going to play music, I was given the error message saying that the song could not be found. I connected my iPhone to iTunes and went to the tab in summery page, 'on this iPhone'. I found the song and could see that next to the song was a small what looked like dotted grey circle. After Googling this, I found a video saying that if i was to remove all my music and then add it again, this should fix the problem with this song. I did this and this was when the issue occurred again.
I unticked the option to remove all music but the sync did not finish. So I cancelled the sync, ejected my iPhone and tried again. This time, the summery page of my iPhone said there was no music on my iPhone and the 'on this iPhone' tab, this all so said there was no music however, my music was still on my iPhone including the song that would not play. All played ok.
I have read lots in the Apple forums about lost of difference reason this may be happening. Things like bugs in iOS 8, app updates being transferred during the sync process, the latest iTunes version has bugs and even a dodgy USB cable could cause it. My iPod running iOS 5 syncs all ok but I get this problem as well on my iPad Air.
I all so had this issue with my old iPhone 4S. The problem occurred when running iOS 7 and 8 on the 4S. When I had it on the 4S, I did a restore of the 4S 4 times and thought I had found the issue down too a dodgy app. However, now that it has happened on my new iPhone and still not using that app, could this be an issue with my Mac/iTunes?
I am in contact with Apple Care, but this is such a long process.
So if anybody could please offer any advice on this or steps to try to maybe solve the issue, it would be really helpful. Or if anybody is experiencing the same problem, it would be good to know its not just my devices and Mac producing this sync problem.
I will update my post with any information provided by Apple Care as and when I get it.
Thanks for reading and thanks for your time.
Mark.Hi,
Just wanted to updated my original post and give some more information on this issue that I'm having with my iOS devices running iOS 8.0.2 and iTunes 11.4.
Firstly I just want to updated my details about what version of Mavericks I'm running. I'm running 10.9.5 - I put the wrong version down in my original post.
So over the last week, I have had a few phone calls with Apple Care an am dealing with a senior technical advisor about this issue.
I have been given some instructions that I am currently working through to see if it solves the sync issue with iTunes and my iOS devices.
The Apple Care advisor has pointed out that a iTunes version issue with music that I have ripped to iTunes and the current iTunes version could be what is causing the problem. For example, every song that I have purchased from iTunes since having an account, I was told are all exactly the same the same when it comes down the to data/information about that track/album that iTunes stores with the music but when it comes to music that I have added to iTunes myself from a CD, this was added and encoded with the version of iTunes that was running at the time of adding the music. So going through all the music that I added to iTunes over the last 10 years, you can imaging that there was lots of mixed version of iTunes linked to lots of different music.
At the moment, I'm having to go through all my music and find any that I have added and create a new ACC version of that music and delete the old version. However, due to the amount of music that I have, this is going to take a long time. When I was on the phone to the Apple Care advisor, we did several albums as a test and they all synced over to my iPhone. This may just have been luck though at that time.
Now, I'm not saying that this will solve the problem that I have with the sync issue but I am going to try it and see how I get on. The only down side to this fix as far as I can see at the moment, is that when it's all done, I think I will have to fully restore all my iOS devices to get music on to them.
I will of course updated this topic when I have got through all my music and tried to sync my iOS devices.
Thank you all for your comments. -
Is anyone else having syncing issues with their Apple TV? I am trying to sync movies up that I just bought (StarTrek HD, IronMan HD) and the sync sits there with the progress bar moving all the way to the end but never actually finishes. Just sits there for hours! I don't know if it is because of the iTunes Extras or not, but it is getting very annoying.
I have read a lot of bad reviews of the Apple TV 3.0.1 update and I have to say, the my Apple TV is very sluggish and hangs a lot with this new revision. I am sure that is part of my issues syncing. All of this is sad because the product has such potential. To me, it is like an iPod for your TV.
I believe with this slow response times and issues Apply may be working on a hardware update to the device which is long overdue. Maybe the new software requires a faster processor and/or more memory which will be answered in the new hardware (one can only hope). We are just beta testing the new software. Apple: Listen to the people, we want bigger hard drive (500GB+) and reliability! We want it to run as smooth as an iPod. The moment you update the hardware, everyone with Apple TVs will buy a new one!Yes I have the same problem,, and it was with 2.4 version, I upgraded to 3.0.1 and still the status bar progresses all the way to end and just hangs there,,, BS is what it is,, If this is not fixed or goes unanswered I am just going to take my Apple TV back as I just purchased it yesterday. 12/17/09

I have an iPhone 3S. I forgot to install iOS5 on it before to pass to iCloud. Now, I am unable to sync it with iTunes and update to iOS5. Is there a solution?iPhone
Hi jeffmbellucci,
If you are having issues dragging music to your iPhone 4 after a recent upgrade to iOS 7, you may want to verify that the phone is still set to "Manually manage music and videos." You may find the following article helpful:

Syncing issues with an external hard drive
Hello, having a syncing issue with my iTunes right now. I have my library set up on an external hard drive because there isn't anymore space on my computer for my music, and the other day my roommate unplugged the external to ironically sync my ipod. There was a syncing issue of course but it's happened before so I wasn't worried, but now iTunes can't find a few hundred songs in my library still. I've restarted iTunes and replugged in my hard drive multiple times and restarted my computer and consolidated my library as well but nothing's working. All my music is still on my external but iTunes can't read some of the songs for some reason. Any suggestions at this point? I'm lost. Thanks.
Welcome to AD!
What drive letter did the exHD use before this happened? Do you know?
Windows can change hard drive letters for USB devices without telling you.
Use Windows Disk Management to change the drive letter back to what it was before your roomie created this havoc. Then start itunes, and tell your roomie it's their turn to I dunno, clean the toilet, or something useful.
