Syncing my replacement handset with Mobile Me

Hey folks, I posted this in the MobileMe discussion forum but no replies as yet so thought id ask here...
I had an accident at the weekend which involved my iPhone going for a swim!
Its insured, so will be getting a replacement handset asap.
I have all my contacts and calender syncronised with my mobile me accout online.
When my replacement handset arrives, I intend on entering my username and password etc and hoping my contacts transfer to the phone.
What crossed my mind though, is that when I do this, would there be a chance that mobile me will sync with the new phone (with no contacts on at all) and wipe the contents of the online part? Does that make sense?
Regards
James

IIRC correctly, 1 of 2 things (or both) happens in this case:
You are prompted through MobileMe to move all data to the phone because it's the "First time Synching".
You can check a box selecting that you want all data from MobileMe to go to the phone, i.e. not a "Sync"

  • Syncing iCal calendar todos with Mobile Me todos

    Hi
    I am using 10.5.8.
Omnifocus will only sync my todos with the iCal calendar on my Mac.
I use and sync events with Mobile Me.
Is there anyway I can sync the iCal Calendar todos on my local mac with one of my MobleMe calendars?
    Thanks
    Gus

This will be no consolation. But I'm having the same problem. For me the issue began when I signed up for the MobileMe iCal beta (at least I think that's the culprit).
I was no longer able to sync iCal to the MobileMe server after the update (and I kept getting an error message in iCal). I downgraded back to the "regular" MobileMe iCal and got the iCal on my iMac up and running again.
However, now I don't seem to be able to sync my iPhone with Mobile me. I've turned it off from settings and turned it back on, but it's not working.

  • I had a phone with a faulty wifi and microphone, apple gave me a replacement handset with the same problem! what do i do now?

I bought an iphone 5 and the phone had connectivity problems with the wifi, it wouldnt even recognise it unless you are in the same room and even then it was merely only sometimes, the microphone was completely gone and the other person i was on the phone too could never hear and as well the it wouldnt recognise my sim alot of the time either, the phone read no service. Apple gave me a replacement handset in store which turned out to have the exact same problems! ... what do i do now? .... i dont want to pay for a train to the nearest store again to be given another faulty phone!

    You're welcome.
Advertisements when using the Safari browser on your Mac?
If so, at the Safari menu bar go to Safari and select Preferences.
    Select Security.
    Is Block pop-up Windows selected?
    Select Privacy.
Is Ask websites not to track me selected for Website tracking?
There is also a Safari extension called AdBlock and when enabled should help.
Regarding your iPad Mini, try a reset which is similar to a computer restart and is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release.

  • Why is syncing ical not working with mobile me?

I have been having 2 macbook pros and a new imac sync ical, mail and address book.  The imac is on Lion, the laptops are 10.6.8.  They were syncing fine until a week or so ago.  Is this because the 2 are not Lion?  I am using mobileme, not yet switched to the cloud, mostly because not sure I want to use my 2 other uses of Lion on older laptops.  And I will have ot upgrade some software on them.  I need this calendar info to sync regularly!

Thank you for your interest in Adobe Flash Player. Unfortunately Apple does not allow Flash Player to be installed on iPhone or iPad.
May I add, this is the answer I get When I try to Download Adobe Flash Player
You get the message because that is exactly the situation. Apple has not allowed any Flash on iOS devices.
What site are you trying to see? Many sites now provide Flash alternatives. For example, if you want to listen to Pandora, instead of using the Flash on the Pandora website, instead you download the Pandora app for the iPad.
In the future, even if Apple wants to add Flash to the iPad, it won't be able to because Adobe will no longer be making it at all, for any mobile device:
    http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2011/11/adobe-kills-mobile-flash/
If you often go to sites that use a lot of Flash and they don't have an alternative, you should write to them and tell them to stop using Flash.

  • WHY DOES SYNCING ALL DAY EVENTS WITH MOBILE ME ADDS EXTRA DAY?

I have 3 computers and an iPad that I sync with MobileMe. Recently I made a calendar entry (All Day) and all of the calendars on my computers synced perfectly. The iPad, however, added an extra day so instead of having an All Day event that began on 11 March and ended on 20 March my iPad showed the event ending on 21 March. I tried restoring my software on the iPad (I am running iOS 4.3) and then restoring all of my applications. The calendar issue persists.
Has anyone else had this same problem?

I have a similar problem, all day recurring events appear 1 day earlier on iPhone 3GS running iOS 4.3.2 and Outlook 2003. For some reason, this doesn't apply to ALL all-day events, just some of them (mostly birthdays), however in Outlook they are all correct.I have tried overwriting all Calendar entries on the iPhone, but no difference. This problem occurred with iTunes 10.2.1 and also 10.2.2 and also with iOS 4.3.1. Something similar happened last year when Apple introduced a problem with iTunes 9. I don't live in NZ, I'm from the UK.

  • Sync replacement Bold with my Mac

My Bold got wet on vacation and had to be replaced.  I went to sync the replacement phone with my Mac but was unsuccessful.  I had no problems syncing my other Bold.  I have the same SIM card and I have the appropriate software installed on my Mac for the Sync to work.  I just can't get it to sync with the replacement phone.  Any suggestions would be great.

On your original BlackBerry Bold, did you ever update the software and if so, did you do the same with the new one?  Also may want to make sure you are connecting the USB cable prior to opening the application you are using to sync. The other potential cause could be that the sync folders need to be cleaned on the Mac.  It might be a good idea to check and see if there is an actual error message showing.

There is no way to stop iTunes from doing exactly what it is designed to do.
The iPhone is designed to sync with one and only one computer.
If you have moved/copied your iTunes library from your old computer to your new one, then iTunes wiping your device is no problem.  You would simply sync and iTunes will put all the content back.

Frequently asked questions about Apple ID

An Apple ID is a user name you use for everything you do with Apple. Creating an account for an Apple service, such as the iTunes Store or the App Store, creates an Apple ID. Apple ID allows you to access other Apple services. You don't have to create a new account for each service—just use your Apple ID.
How do I change my Apple ID Name or personal information?
You can change your Apple ID Name at My Apple ID. Click on Manage your Apple ID and sign in with your Apple ID name and password. Click Edit and enter the new information, then click Save Changes. Changes take effect immediately. You can also use My Apple ID to change your personal information, such as your mailing address or email address. See Changing the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.

  • Mac Mail on both my laptops suddenly will no longer sync with mobile me

I have two macbooks - both of which sync with mobile me quite reliably. A couple of days ago, the Mac mail application stopped syncing with mobile me on both of my macbooks. When I tell it to syncronize with ".Mac" or get mail, I get the small triangle symbol with the exclamation point by the mail box folder. I am able to log into mobile me just fine and get my mail messages from there. When I click on the Mail Connection Doctor, it says that it connected with the internet just fine. I get an error for the account status and am not sure where to go from there since my mobile me account seems to work fine via Safari. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm still trying to get this to work. When I use the mail connection doctor, I get the following error messages:

I have the iphone 4 and PC with Windows Vista Basic. When I bought my iPhone syncs with iTunes on my computer, but now when I try to sync it tells me that Mobile Device Service was closed and I can not synchronize the phone. Try restarting Mobile Device Service and uninstall and reinstall Itunes but still giving me the same error.

  • How do i get my contacts from ICLOUD over to sync with Mobile me?

All of my contacts are in ICLOUD on my mobile device. But my IMAC only Syncs with Mobile me. How do I get my contacts from ICLOUD over to sync with Mobile me?

Well, you can go into setting>mail, contacts, calendars>add new account or through iTunes you can plug your phone into your computer, open iTunes, select your device, then select info. I hope this helps. Au revoir!

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
It sounds like you have failed to do this, which is not good at all.
You will have to transfer your itunes purchases from your iphone.  Authorize your computer for your itunes account
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Open itunes, plug in iphone, do NOT sync, click File>Transfer Purchases
When you do sync you will lose your pics ( photo library - synced from your old computer), your itunes content ( music, apps, videos, etc) , your contacts and your calendars.  So do NOT sync yet.  This is why a backup copy is so important.
Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer.
When you first sync, you should get the option to merger the data.  Choose it.
If you want your pics, then you will need to e-mail them to yourself before you sync.  They will not be of the original quality as they are reduced when synced to iphone.
When all is as goos as it can be, then backup your computer, and always maintain the backup.
