Syncronous process in BPM and faults

Hi
Could anybody give me a hint how to generate fault messages as response to synchronous interface inside BPM?
I have a SOAP service - BPM, that is the receiver of the request, handles it by collecting information from different systems via synchronous interfaces (RFC and SOAP). Finally it maps a "main" response from different responses that is sent back to the SOAP client.
So I am opening a S/A bridge in the beginning and I close the bridge in the end of the flow.
But if an error occurs (data from different sources is not consistent for example) I need to send a SOAP fault back to the SOAP client.
Any suggestions how to generate a fault message in BPM and sending it out in a "Close S/A Bridge" send step?
Thanks for any ideas...

You're right, I restarted the server again and again...
I have just opened the sr in metalink, it has been confirmed as a bug. Unfortunately there's no way to workaround. What I can do now is waiting for the solution.

  • How one can define Bus. Process Modeling(BPM) and Business Process Engine

    Hi,
    How one can define BPM and BPE in simple terms?
    it would be great if once can give practical example.
    thank you,
    cg

    hi,
    I would compare these with java.
    Eclipse-->Business Process Editor
    Java Code(Business logic) --> Business Process (BPM)
    Java Compiler --> Buisness process Engine

  • BPM Process Spaces: Attachments and Comments issue

    Hi,
    I've integrated BPM Process Spaces with WebCenter Spaces. When I'm trying to initiate a Process and send comments and attachment, the values for them is not passed from step to another. For example, if user A initiate a task with comments and attachments and send it to user B; user B can't see the comments and attachments from user A.
    I searched the internet and I found conflict answers, some answers are saying that comments and attachments are not supported and others are saying it's working.
    Can please someone give me a definitive answer and the configuration required if any?
    Also can someone give me a definitive answer about how to configure BPM to store attachment in UCM?
    This is urgent as I'm preparing a customer POC next week.
    Thanks
    Regards

    after some investigations I found the following:
    - Users can attach documents and provide comments on task level from the task details page. The attachments and comments will only be available for this specific task but not on the process level.
    - Users can attach documents and provide comments on Process level from the Process Tracking page-> Audit Trail part. The attachments and comments will available for all the tasks in the process
    - in BPM 11.1.1.5 Features Pack. Integration with UCM has been developed and also comments and attachments can be defined as Task level or Process level when ever the user want to provide one.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • Problem about Triggering BPM and Process monitor

    Hi all,
    I am new on the BPM domain. Now i got some problem working on it.
    First, i want to execute a FM or Program in ECC, and then trigger the process of BPM, how to do this?
    or maybe i can say like this, i want to start a BPM from ECC screen, how could i do?
    Second, the requester could find the completed tasks in UWL with some simple text only,
    if he wants to see the whole process status, is that possible?
    Regards,
    Fisher

    Hi Harsha,
    Thx for your reply.
    For First, is the URL which in Process Repository, after clicking "start process", something like "http://www.example.org/bpem/..... "?
    but seems i cannot open the URL for detail XML data. Could you give some more details?
    For Second, go to UWL page, in Tasks tab, choose "completed tasks" in first dropdown box, you can get the task list then.
    And it returns only "priority, completion date, status".
    If the task is in progress, yes, process visualization will picture the state of the process.
    But my customers (requesters), not admin, want to see the diagram after they submit, with status better. Any suggestion?
    Regards,
    Fisher

  • BPM and Change Management Process

    Hi,
    We have a requirement to automate the change management process. Typical functionality needed is - input the change required, assign priority, organise risk assessment, change approvals, change implementation, send automatic emails to managers etc.
    Is BPM a best fit to this kind of Change Management Process?
    Thanks
    Srikanth

    Hi Srikanth,
    It's a good question and I hope this helps.
    My short answer is that "it depends...".
    Yes, an Oracle BPM process will let your users enter the change required, assign priority, define the change approvals, and send automatically send emails to managers.
    Not saying that this is the case here, but sometimes people confuse an application with what BPM does with a process.  Ask yourself if your candidate process for BPM has one or more of these characteristics:
    Workflow - are there multiple people involved in the editing and approvals over some period of time?
    Documentation - as work flows through the process, will you need to gather requirements / documents and associate these with the instance?
    Seamless integration - are there systems and or databases involved that you need to integrate into the process?
    Efficiency - do you want to ensure that your process continues to flow and escalates when a work item sits too long in someone's queue?
    Governance - do you need to have an audit trail of the various people who were involved as a work item instance (a change approval in your case) flowed through the process?
    Compliance - do you need to have the change management instances go through a process in a consistent and well documented manner?
    Visibility - do you need to gather key performance indicators as instances flow through the process and do managers need to track these in business activity monitoring reports?
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • BPM and BPEL process differentiaition.

    Hi All,
    Can any one shed some light on below points
    1) How is a BPM process different from BPEL process.
    2) Can i achieve every thing in BPM process that i can achieve in BPEL process.
    3) Also when BPEL process is available why has Oracle introduced BPM process.
    Thanks
    Parker.

    Hi,
    You can refer the following short PDF about the key differences between BPEL and BPM and when would be the right strategy to use either BPEL or BPM.

  • BPM + PROXY + Fault Message

    Hello
    My scenario is JDBC -> BPM <-> Proxy
    I developed a BPM has a step-type <SENDER> that is synchronous.
    Information on the above step:
      . The message interface used an output, an input message and also a Fault Message.
    . I'm calling a proxy in the ECC and runs an exception if an error occurs in the application (inside the proxy).
      . This exception is returned to the BPM and I run a <block> to handle the exception.
    My need is to capture the contents of the exception in the BPM and send this text to another application.
    How do I recover the contents of the exception returned by Proxy in BPM?
    Thank you,
      Aroldo

    Hi, it is not supported in the meaning that the payload of the fault message is not returned to the integration process, so that's right Baskar. The only thing possible is to trigger exceptions for fault messages, see [Sending Messages from Integration Processes Synchronously -> Procedure -> Specify Exceptions|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/43/6211331c895f6ce10000000a1553f6/content.htm].
    Possible solutions:
    If it is a custom proxy you could change the behavior so that no fault messages are triggered. Instead you return the error message in the payload structure of the response.
    If it isn't a custom proxy you could create a custom proxy wrapper with a separate structure for exceptions in the response. Call the implementation of your desired proxy in the wrapper implementation, handle the exception and return the exception contents in the separate structure of the response.
    Or you could try to create a data type enhancement for exception contents for the response message, create a proxy from the enhancement, and implement the OUTBOUND_PROCESSING method where you copy the exception messages to the structure of the data type enhancement.
    Regards, Martin

  • Alert monitoring and fault message types

    Hello,
    this is a topic about two questions:
    a) is it correct that alert monitoring is only possible in XI when using an integration process (BPM) and not for simple communication scenarios like IDOC -> file ?
    b) how can I use the fault message in the message interface? (OK, I implement it, and then? where can I make it visible in the monitoring?)
    10 points for answering in your own words instead of providing a link to SAP standard documentation!
    (standard docs in XI look like they never giving a real answer, only something like 70 %! And the rest is trial and error!)
    Oh, here is
    c) When clicking on the alert inbox / configuration buttos in the RWB it looks like the addresses cannot be reached. How to fix that?
    Best regards
    Dirk

    Hello guys,
    these answers send me more happy to weekend!
    Ok, not easy now to give points. Nobody answered 100 % but in total you solved my problems and answered my questions!
    The OSS Michal gave solved my problem with the RWB access to alert config. (Where does this placing of the 5xx00 come from I had to replace in different places by 80xx ? >-( )
    Thanks for the new challenge, Michal! we are working on SP12 and happy about it running now!
    Hope to find a developer with your skills to implement alert messaging w/o using BPM!
    Thanks for the answer about fault message and the link, Sudhir! Ok, with the rest, Michal was a little bit faster!
    Best regards

  • BPEL Process in BPM Studio

    Hello,
    First, are there any examples, tutorials, or documentation on how to create and run a BPEL process within BPM Studio (5.7) ?
    I've gotten quite a ways by trial and error, but am having trouble running / testing out the process.
    I've tried doing a Process->Generate Process Interface and Process->Run but nothing happens in BPM Studio when these are performed. What else do i need to do to test out my BPEL process with external webservice ?
    Here's the steps i've taken so far.
    1. Developed a simple external webservice with netbeans (JAX-WS).
    2. Generated WSDL and XSD with wsgen executable.
    3. Developed WSDL & XSD for BPEL Process request & reply.
    4. Created a new project within BPM Studio.
    5. Created a new module under "Catalog" for wsdl introspection.
    6. Cataloged webservice component with local wsdl/xsd files.
    7. Configured the Server configuration generated under the "External Resources" to point to the webservice host.
    8. Configured the web service under "External Resources" to point to the webservice endpoint on the host (Server configuration)
    9. Created a new BPEL Process.
    10. Created new Instance variables for the process input and output as "component" type that point to the introspected request & response types.
    11. Assigned the port type & method of the BPEL Receive to the introspected service defined in #3.
    12. Assinged the input variable to the request variable created in #10.
    13. Assigned port type & method & output variable to the BPEL reply.
    14. Created a BPEL Invoke node between Request & Reply.
    15. Assigned port type & method on the Invoke node to instrospected web service defined in #2.
    16. Created instance variables for input & output of invoke node based on introspected request & reply
    17. Assigned input & output.
    Once all of this was complete, doing a Process->Check Design yeilded no errors or warnings.
    Thanks for any help,

  • Asynchronous, but need Ack without using BPM and IDocs.

    Hi Experts,
                     I would like to do a scenario i.e., "Asynchronous communication, but need Acknowledgement without using BPM and also without using IDocs whether it is sender side or receiver side". Please help me.
    Thanks in advance
    Srihari.

    Without using BPM will be little longer process. But the alternative way is to add one more receiver in the receiver determination and send some file to that location with the actual mapping getting executed for the actual receiver. and in the second interface you can get the file created at second receiver back to the source location. But this will be little long as compared to synchronous scenarios.
    Flow:
    Source
              Receiver 1--> Actual mapping as per requirement
              Receiver 2(For Ack)--> Create a mapping with blank file sent to Receiver
    Receiver 2-->File Adapter--> Source through 2nd mapping/interface and keep the File adapter pooling interval around 5 sec or less so that you can get the file back to source location.
    Regards
    Anand

  • How to kill an instance process in BPM studio 6.0

    Hi i'm Fabio.
    I'm working on BPM Studio 6.0 and i need to complete a task.
    I have an instance id process, and i need to create a new process in order to kill this istance id.
    I read how to create a PAPI client (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/papi/index.html?t=modules/papi/c_Writing_Your_First_Java_PAPI_Program.html) but it doesn't work for my purpose.
    First of all, i understood that i have to follow these step:
    * Import the required libraries.
    * Create a process service.
    * Create a process service session.
    * Perform operations with PAPI.
    * Close the process service.
    Now, i'm working on my xpdl file and i'm using the Standard Module "Fuego" and my plan is to create a process servcie, a process service session and then operate with PAPI.
    But using the PAPI module include in the BPM studio 6.0 i'm no able to load the library for the session import fuego.papi.ProcessServiceSession;
    so i'm worng something. Could you tell me how can menage this problem? Really do i need a session? Is possible to abort an istance process in BPM studio or i need to load my ear project in Enterprise environment and then kill my instance process? Thanks, regards Fabio.

    Thanks Dan, i read your suggestion but my boss was to implement a different solution:
    package hp.abort.process;
    import fuego.boot.*;
    import fuego.papi.CommunicationException;
    import fuego.papi.InstanceInfo;
    import fuego.papi.InstanceId;
    import fuego.papi.ProcessService;
    import fuego.papi.ProcessServiceSession;
    import fuego.papi.OperationException;
    import java.util.Properties;
    import javax.transaction.*;
    import java.lang.Exception;
    public class AbortProcess {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    /////////////////// API Initialization ///////////////////
    Properties configuration = new Properties();
    configuration.setProperty(ProcessService.DIRECTORY_ID, "default");
    configuration.setProperty(ProcessService.PROJECT_PATH, "C:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/AlbpmWorkspace/EarOMatic");
    configuration.setProperty(ProcessService.WORKING_FOLDER, "C:/tmp");
    try {
    ProcessService processService = ProcessService.create(configuration);
    /////////////////// Establish a session ///////////////////
    ProcessServiceSession session = processService.createSession("adminEarOMatic", "adminEarOMatic", "localhost");
    /////////////////// Operate with PAPI ///////////////////
    for (String processId : session.processesGetIds()) {
    System.out.println("\n Process: " + processId);
    for (InstanceInfo instance : session.processGetInstances(processId) ) {
    System.out.println(" -> " + instance.getId());
    System.out.println("ActivityName -> " + instance.getActivityName());
    System.out.println("ActivityId -> "+ instance.getActivityId());
    //Problema: nn vuole ActivityId ma Process Id
    session.activityAbort("/CreateEurekaSRService#Default-1.0/eomWait","/CreateEurekaSRService#Default-1.0/1/0@EarOMatic");
    /////////////////// Close the session ///////////////////
    session.close();
    /////////////////// Release API Resources ///////////////////
    processService.close();
    } catch (CommunicationException e) {
    System.out.println("Could not connect to Directory Service");
    e.printStackTrace();
    } catch (OperationException e) {
    System.out.println("Could not perform the requested operation");
    e.printStackTrace();
    Now, i got the following exception:
    Local folder C:/tmp\system\Schema-4154784351820594721\catalogs found.

    I understood that tha activity id's format is not valid, but i obtained it just using the following function: instance.getActivityId()
    Are you abel to give me some suggestion? Is it good this method to kill instance?
    Thanks a lot, regard Fabio.

  • BPM and ADF integration - some questions

    Hi,
    I have a few questions about comunication between BPM 11.1.1.5 and Human Task based Task Flow:
    1) What is the best way to pass data (task id, proces id, proces data) from BPM workspace to Human Task Task Flow (and get them as TF params).
    2) Where can I find a description, how ADF app comunicates with BPM process.
    3) Where can I find a description of all data controls created by JDeveloper (BPM Suite) when HT Task Flow is created.
    3) Where can I find a description (and their functionality) of managed beans created by JDeveloper (BPM Suite) when HT Task Flow is created.
    Kuba

    Hi,
    Sory, but I'm still not sure, how ADF comunicates with BPM (I know that it uses EJB services and hwtaskflow.xml). But a still don't have an answers for follwowing questions:
    1) I know ADF quite good. Having method in data controls (in our case getTaskDetails()) we need to invoke it somehow. I don't see anywher invokation of this method.
    2) In generated task flow there is some managed beans and params - what is role of them ? Having over 50 task flows , do I need it in all of them. Where can I find description of those beans and params
    3) In our approach we use BPM , ADF RC for UI and Business Components to persist data into database. Only data from payload we need is ID of master-level row. My question is - do I have to generate data controls for all human task ?. In my my opinion it should be only one communication point between BPM and ADF but not the same for all pair human task --> task flow.
    All infomation I need from BPM is:
    - task ID
    - task flow name (to open apriopriate tab in my application)
    - available outcomes
    - to know is BPM operation is enabled
