Syspolicy_purge_history - Step3 - Erase Phantom System Health Records. - FAILS.

Hello, recently uninstalled all of SQL 2008 Shared features components in leaving just the SQL engine intact.
Afterwards notice the syspolicy_purge_history job has been failing at Step3 mentioning:
The process could not be created for step 3 of job 0x6F6178461B7373468A20C1DB8A6F5C83 (reason: The system cannot find the file specified).  The step failed.
Does anyone know how this can be fixed?
Thanks in advance.

Hi techresearch7777777,
The error could be caused by that the SQLPS.exe file cannot be found. Please perform the below steps to troubleshoot this issue.
1. Execute the following statements to check the location of SQLPS.exe file.
SELECT * FROM msdb.dbo.syssubsystems WHERE start_entry_point ='PowerShellStart'
2. Verify the 'SQLPS.exe' file is located in the path as per step 1.
3. If you cannot find the SQLPS.exe in the path above, search for SQLPS.exe on the server.
    a. If the SQLPS.exe file exists on the server, correct the path recorded in the msdb.dbo.syssubsystems table by using the following statements, then restart SQL Server Agent Service and check if there are some issues with syspolicy_purge_history
job.
Use msdb;
GO
sp_configure 'allow updates', 1 ;
RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE ;
GO
UPDATE msdb.dbo.syssubsystems SET agent_exe='<full_path>' WHERE start_entry_point ='PowerShellStart';
GO
sp_configure 'allow updates', 0;
RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE ;
GO
    b. If the SQLPS.exe doesn’t exists on the server, I suspect that it has been uninstalled. In order to obtain SQLPS module , you need to install the SQL Server 2008 Feature Pack.

  • SQL Server 2012 syspolicy_purge_history fails step 3 "Erase Phantom System Health Records."

I recently installed SQL Server 2012 Ent (x64). The install is a stand alone default instance.
The syspolicy_purge_history job fails on step three with the following error:
Executed as user: <DomainName>\sql_xxx_agt_svc. A job step received an error at line 1 in a PowerShell script. The corresponding line is 'set-executionpolicy RemoteSigned -scope process -Force'. Correct the script and reschedule the job. The error

Here is the code that is in the step:
    if ('$(ESCAPE_SQUOTE(INST))' -eq 'MSSQLSERVER') {$a = '\DEFAULT'} ELSE {$a = ''};
    (Get-Item SQLSERVER:\SQLPolicy\$(ESCAPE_NONE(SRVR))$a).EraseSystemHealthPhantomRecords()

I'm putting this in the connect post as well, but putting here in case somoene else comes across it.
I was having the same problem with the syspolicy_purge_history job right after a standalone SQL 2012 (with SP1 and cu4,
11.0.3368.0 (X64)) install that happened to be on a cluster but was not going to be a clustered instance. After trying all the different suggestions here around the ExecutionPolicy, I was still getting nowhere.
Turns out, having a named isntance with a static port number and the SQL Browser service disabled was causing my problems. Apparently that was not allowing PowerShell to find the SQL instance. When I would navigate the SQLSERVER:\SQLPolicy folder
in PowerShell (sqlps), I could get to the server root, but not the instance. If I even tried to list the subdirectories under the server folder, I would get an error:
    PS SQLSERVER:\> cd .\SQLPolicy\SRVR
    PS SQLSERVER:\SQLPolicy\SRVR> ls

To solve this issue, I had to open SQL Server Configuration Manager and create an alias under the SQL Native Client 11.0 Configuration (I didn't need to set the 32-bit one):
    Alias
    [server name]\[instance name]
    Port
    [my static port]
    Protocol
    TCP/IP
    Server
    [server name]\[instance name]
Once this was done, I was able to set the ExecutionPolicy registry settings, and the job completed. Here are my registry settings:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PowerShell\1\ShellIds\Microsoft.PowerShell\ExecutionPolicy = Restricted
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PowerShell\1\ShellIds\Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.PowerShell.sqlps110\ExecutionPolicy = RemoteSigned

    MPB 17in - 3GB Ram - 200 GB Mac OS X (10.4.8) I also have a G5

No really this is an Intel only bug. Hopefully someone at Apple reads this.
I have a USB Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000.
On my G5 this will happily record movies in Quicktime, provide images in IChat and work with Photobooth.
On a February 2006 Macbook Pro, IChat works, Photobooth defaults back to the built in iSight (is there any way of changing this??), it even works with Windows on Parallels, but Quicktime fails as described above with the 'Recording failed to create a movie' message.
Both computers are running MacOS X 10.4.9 patched right up to date.
USB cameras must be supported on current systems - the built in iSight is USB connected!!!

  • System Image Utility Failing Error 2 Yosemite

I'm trying to create an net install image of the OS X Yosemite installer. It worked with 10.0, now on 10.0.1 I'm getting an error "System Image Utility Failing Error 2". I've tried it a few different ways but I get the same result every time. Has anyone been able to create a 10.0.1 image?

After doing all that I described in my previous post three things happened:
    1. I need to proof read better mi writing (I am fluent in english but of course is not my native language).
    2. The NetInstall image I created did work!, but it failed at 99.99% verifying leaving a useless installation. I was able to bring back some computers by reinstalling only the system, but most of them had to be erased and reimaged again.
    And number 3:
I found another solution that worked fine this time. !!!
(well, it had a hiccup but not a show stopper)
    What is needed:
    - A known working NetInstall image.
    Steps:
    1. Copy the NetInstall.nbi folder to another location.
    2. Using Disk Utility convert the image file NetInstall.dmg (inside the NetInstall.nbi) to a read/write image, preferably to a sparse image.
    3. Mount the new image and locate the folder 'Packages' inside it (it is invisible in the Finder).
    4. Remove System.dmg
    5. Copy your source image on the same place and make sure it is named System.dmg and is of type read-only / compressed. (If the new image is bigger than the one before, it will be useful that the NetInstall.dmg be a sparse image.)
    6. If the source image was not previously scanned for ASR, do it now.
    7. Unmount the NetInstall disk
    8. Using Disk Utility convert your new NetInstall.dmg to read-only / compressed.
    9. Rename your NetInstall.nbi to YourNewNetInstall.nbi
    10. Edit the file NBImageInfo.plist (inside the YourNewNetInstall.nbi)  and locate the line with the old name of the .nbi and change it to the new one. Locate the "Index" and change it too (maybe simply add 1.) Also, change the line that mentions the System version and change it to the one that the new NetInstall contains (up to only the first decimal.)
    11. Move back YourNewNetInstall.nbi to the NetBootSP0 folder where it came from.
    12. In Server activate your new NetInstall source (you can change the index there too) and update the computers list it will be served to.
    Ready!
Using this I could reinstall the computers without a problem this time.
Ok, I said there were a hiccup:
After finishing, the computers restarted to their recovery partition and a simple restart brought them back to it. Using Disk Utility and verifying the disk was enough to restart them properly.
    Hope this helps.

  • Main System Drives keep failing in PPC G5 2.5 after installing backup drive

    Hello,
Two system drives have failed in my PPC G5 2.5 in the past eight months. One was a Seagate (original drive) and I can't remember the brand of the other one. At least the AHT says that they failed. Each time, this happened a month or so after I installed a backup drive in the remaining drive bay.
I'm wondering if the is just a coincidence or if maybe it's related to a power supply issue (or something else). Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Also to note is that the serial number on my G5 doesn't fall within the range of those covered by the extended repair program for bad power supplies.
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi Dennis,
When you formatted did you Zero the Partition?
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the Erase tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Highlight the drive, select Partition Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data, Erase... after completion hopefully you'll be able to install.
after highlighting the drive, click on the Partition tab, Options button will be down below...
Boot off your Install Disk while holding down the *d key*, (not c key), then run the extended Apple Hardware Test. Some disks require you to use the Option key at bootup to select AHT. Some models have a separate AHT CD.

  • Video Camera Recording Failed

I was trying to take a video with my phone today and every time I pressed the record button a notice would come up saying recording failed.  I tried closing the camera and then bringing it back up but it still says recording failed.  Anyone have this problem and know how to fix it?

    Hi droidcharge1996,
First troubleshooting step will be to reset your phone's camcorder to default settings. From the home screen touch Applications>Camera>Mode(switch to camcorder)>Options>Settings>Reset. Once your settings are reset try using your camcorder.
Additionally, a corrupted SD memory card may be causing the error. Format your SD card. Keep in mind that formatting erases all content from the memory card and prepares it for use with your phone.
    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu Key>Settings>SD card & phone storage.
    2. Touch Unmount SD card.
    3. After unmounting the SD card, touchFormat SD card, then follow the prompts to confirm the formatting of the card.
I trust that the above steps will resolve your phone's camcorder concerns.

  • "Program terminated in remote system NONE: Logon failed" when adding a new table

    Hello,
I set up a replication flow from a SAP ERP 6.0 EHP7 with SAP ASE 16.0 source to SAP HANA 1.0 rev 82 target
I am using a standalone SLT system NetWeaver 7.0 with DMIS 2011_1_731 (with SP 1 to 7).
I have 100 tables to replicate.
I succeeded to set up replication for 57 tables. These tables are replicating properly.
Whenever I try to add a new one (with LTRC transaction, Data Provisioning -> Start Replication), the new table is marked as 'Failed' after a little while.
When I press 'Show Error Log' button I got an obscure error message:
"Program terminated in remote system NONE: Logon failed "
I do not understand this message. I checked both on SAP ASE source and SAP HANA target. I am still able to connect against both source and target.
Can you please tell how to troubleshoot this error.
    Thanks in advance,
    Christian

First thank you for answering my questions. I really appreciate your answers.
    I rechecked the documentation.
"Application Operations Guide SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server Document Version: 2.3 – 2014-07-08"
    Page 29 - 30
    3.5.2.2 Data Transfer Jobs
This section explains the relationship between the number of data transfer jobs and the number of available background work process.
Data transfer and data transformation processing on SLT server system is accomplished by the background work processes of the underlying SAP NetWeaver ABAP application server. Each job occupies 1 background work process in the SAP LT Replication Server system. For each configuration, the parameter Data Transfer Jobs restricts the maximum number of data load job for each mass transfer ID (MT_ID). In total, a mass transfer ID (MT_ID) requires at least 4 background jobs to be available:
 One monitoring job (master job)
     One master controller job
 At least one data load job
 One additional job either for the migration objects definition, access plan calculation or to change configuration settings in the Configuration & Monitoring Dashboard
    Example
If you set the parameter Data Transfer Jobs to 04 in a configuration “SCHEMA1”, a mass transfer ID 001 is assigned. As a result, the following jobs should be in the system:
    1 Master controller job: /1LT/IUC_REP_CNTR_001
     At most 4 parallel jobs for MT_ID 001: /1LT/IUC_LOAD_MT_001_001/~002/~003/~004
When configuring your data load or replication scenario, consider the following:
 Do not define more data transfer jobs than the number of available application server background work processes. If all available background work processes are already occupied by jobs, any other job will have to wait until a free work process becomes available. This can lead to long wait times until a new activity (for example creating triggers) can start, and can also result in significantly increased latency times for data replication.
 The number of dialog work processes in the source system corresponds 1:1 with the number of data transfer jobs in the SAP LT Replication Server system.
 Besides the work processes allocated by the data transfer jobs you need to provide additional available work processes for controller and monitoring jobs, the migration objects definition, access plan calculation or to perform configuration changes, and so on.
Sizing for SAP LT Replication Server involves determining how many work processes are required to perform the initial load of data into the target system within an acceptable timeframe, and accomplish the change capturing and the transfer of data changes to the target system within expected latency times.
Ensure that you add enough additional work processes to allow other required SAP LT Replication Server jobs to run.
Finally, you map the number of required application server work processes to their system resource consumption (CPU, memory, disc space) using the formulas provided by the SLT Sizing Guide.
With the simple formula below, you can calculate the number of required application server work processes (WPs) on the SLT Server for each active SLT configuration.
The number of required work processes can be determined by adding
 The Number of required data transfer jobs ,
 plus one background work process for Central Master (Monitoring) Job (only one per system!),
 plus one background work process for Master Controller Job,
 plus 3-5 additional empty background work processes (recommended per configuration),
 plus approx. 3 dialog work processes (recommended for each configuration).
Note: A lack of available free application server work processes can negatively affect the data load or data replication processes.
To summarize everything, the number of 'Data Transfer Jobs' must be set depending of the number of source tables, it is not the actual number of tables.
Assume that for my 100 tables I use 10 'Data Transfer Jobs' :
    - The number of work processes on the SLT server would be 20. I took the simple formula of the documentation:
    10 data transfer jobs ,
+ 1 background work process for Central Master (Monitoring) Job (only one per system!),
+ 1 background work process for Master Controller Job,
+ 5 additional empty background work processes (recommended per configuration),
+ 3 dialog work processes (recommended for each configuration).
    - The number of dialog processes on the source server would be 10 ( equal to the number of 'Data Transfer Jobs')
    Am I correct ?

    Christian

  • System Image Restore Fails "No disk that can be used for recovering the system disk can be found"

    Greetings
                                        - Our critical server image backup Fails on one
    server -
Two 2008 R2 servers. Both do a nightly "Windows Server Backup" of Bare Metal Recovery, System State, C:, System Reserved partition, to another storage hard drive on the same machine as the source. Active Directory is on the C: The much larger D: data
partition on each source hard drive is not included.
Test recovery by disconnecting 500G System drive, booting from 2008R2 Install DVD, recovering to a new 500G SATA hard drive.
    Server A good.
Server B fails. It finds the backed-up image, & then we can select the date we want. As soon as the image restore is beginning and the timeline appears, it bombs with "The system image restore failed. No disk that can be used for recovering the system
disk can be found." There is a wordy Details message but none of it seems relevant (we are not using USB etc).
At some point after this, in one (or two?) of the scenarios below, (I forget exactly where) we also got :
"The system image restore failed. (0x80042403)"
The destination drive is Not "Excluded".
Used   diskpart clean   to remove volumes from destination drive. Recovery still errored.
Tried a second restore-to drive, same make/model Seagate ST3500418AS, fails.
Tried the earliest dated B image rather than the most recent, fail.
The Server B backups show as "Success" each night.
Copied image from B to the same storage drive on A where the A backup image is kept, and used the A hardware to attempt restore. Now only the latest backup date is available (as would occur normally if we had originally saved the backup to a network location).
Restore still fails.         It looks like its to do with the image rather than with the hardware.
Tried unticking "automatically check and update disk error info", still fail.

    Thank you so much.

    Hello,
    1. While recovering the OS to the new Hard disk, please don't keep the original boot disk attached to the System. There is a Disk signature for each hard disk. The signature will collide if the original boot disk signature is assigned to the new disk.
You may attach the older disk after recovering the OS. If you want to recover data to the older disk then they should be attached as they were during backup.
    2. Make sure that the new boot disk is attached as the First Boot disk in hardware (IDE/SATA port 0/master) and is the first disk in boot order priority.
    3. In Windows Recovery Env (WinRE) check the Boot disk using: Cmd prompt -> Diskpart.exe -> Select Disk = System. This will show the disk where OS restore will be attempted. If the disk is different than the intended 2 TB disk then swap the disks in
    correct order in the hardware.
    4. Please make sure that the OS is always recovered to the System disk. (Due to an issue: BMR might recover the OS to some other disk if System disk is small in size. Here the OS won't boot. If you belive this is the case, then you should attach the
bigger sized disk as System disk and/or exclude other disks from recovery). Disk exclusion is provided in System Image Restore/Complete PC Restore UI/cmdline.
    5. Make sure that Number and Size of disks during restore match the backup config. Apart from boot volumes, some other volumes are also considered critical if there are services/roles installed on them. These disks will be marked critical for recovery and
should be present with minimum size requirement.
    6. Some other requirements are discussed in following newsgroup threads:

I'm having a problem printing on my HP Photosmart C7280 All-In-One. The following message is what came up on the printer screen: Ink System Failure has failed unable to copy, receive faxes or print. Refer to printer documentation Error O.cl9a0007.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Hey Spider! First off welcome to the forum.
I would recommend removing all the ink cartridges, unplugging the USB cable from the computer that connects to the printer, and then shutting the printer off completely by removing the power cord. Then restart your computer. Turn the printer back on but leave it disconnected from the computer. After it has finished its power on cycle go ahead and insert the ink cartridges back into the printer and be sure to seat them properly.
After you have all the cartridges back in the printer properly then connect it to the computer. See if this resolves the issue. If not post back with any findings.

  • Could not open error log file ''. Operating system error = 5(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105).

    Hello
When I try to start the SQl server service i get the following error:
    Event id 17058
Could not open error log file ''. Operating system error = 5(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105).
As a test I have made sure the errorlog file ,and the entire drive it is, has everyone full control permissions, but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas to resolve this issue?
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Try running:
    SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('ErrorLogFileName')
Then verify that the account being used to run the SQL Server service account has access to the path output above.  If possible, you could try logging onto the server with the same account used to run SQL Server then navigate to the errorlog folder.

  • System Preferences silently fails on relaunch

    hi all..
I just installed a utility on 10.7.5 called Orbicule Witness. It adds a pane to System Preferences. On reboot following install of the utility I tried to access System Preferences and see the following in a Console App window:
13-04-01 12:09:19.602 AM System Preferences: dlopen_preflight failed with dlopen_preflight(/Library/PreferencePanes/Witness.prefPane/Contents/MacOS/Witne ss): no suitable image found.  Did find:
/Library/PreferencePanes/Witness.prefPane/Contents/MacOS/Witness: GC capability mismatch for /Library/PreferencePanes/Witness.prefPane
and a dialog appears telling me "To use the Witness preferences pane, System Preferences must quit and reopen.". So i press "OK" and it sends the following message to the console:
    13-04-01 12:10:35.219 AM launcher: posix_spawnattr_setbinpref_np failed
This is consistently reproducible. It seems that System Preferences is trying to relaunch in a fashion that is compatible with the Witness pane, but silently fails for some reason (btw "silently fails" is Concentrated Evil).
Is there some way to determine why it is failing and fix the problem?
    thanks!

I have uninstalled it and, of course, the System Preferences loads. Did it twice to make sure. You can also take a shortcut to de-register the Witness pane and, again, System Preferences loads.
Also tried setting the System Preferences app to 32-bit using Get Info.. that does not work, but I don't see any visual indication that the System Preferences app is actually running in 32-bit mode. Is there some way of telling? If System Preferences cannot run in 32-bit mode then it's probably an OS issue. If it can, and the Witness pane still is not loading, then it seems likely to be app-specific.
