  • System beep every time I mouse to the lower left hand screen corner

    Can anyone help me with this?
    Every time I mouse to the lower left hand corner of the screen, I get a system beep.
    I am using a Mac Book Pro with a 24 inch Cinema Display attached.
    I do not use Expose or Spaces, I have no hot corners set.
    I have no hot corners set for the screen saver.
    Any suggestions?

    Sounds like the beep I get when I go to the upper right corner, for which I've set the "All windows" in expose. Try this: go to System Prefs >expose&spaces, and set your lower left corner for all windows. Then close system prefs, and throw your mouse into the lower left corner to activate expose. Then go back to system prefs and set that corner for nothing (just the dash). Now try it and see if that beep still happens.

    since the day i have had this system about 50% of the time i try to wake it by opening it after it's been closed i get the following system beeps and a blank screen that doesn't even have power to it.
    these are beeps:
    one..... one, two three... one, two three..... one
    so 8 in total, two are single (the first and last) and the other six are in tight groups of 3
    anyone have an idea of what this could be? can it be fixed? i've checked web documents and haven't found anything re the beeps.
    many many thanks!

    To reseat the memory DIMM cards, remove and then reinstall them. While you have the cards out, inspect the gold connector pins along the edge of the card, and the socket into which it plugs, for debris. If you have a can of air, clean the cards and the socket.
    The Hardware Maintenance Manual describes how to remove and reinstall the memory, but it is probably easier just to watch the movie!

  • System Beep when I try to delete

    I'm using Aperture 3 and when I try to delete a photo with CMD+Delete the system beeps and the photo is not deleted. I have tried this with both referenced and managed files and get the same result. I'm able to delete the photo if I go to the menu and choose delete but prefer to use the keyboard shortcut.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • System beeps at startup

    Starting today, my system beeps when I start up.  When I power on, I hear approximately 3-4 faint beeps.  It stops after that.  It sounds like it's a system warning beep from the K8N.  The beeping stops after those first 3 or 4 beeps and the system boots up fine.  I'm confused and have no idea what this beep signifies.

    AMI Beep Code
    Beep Code         Description
    1 short         DRAMS refresh failure
    2 short         Parity circuit failure
    3 short         Base 64k RAM failure
    4 short         System timer failure
    5 short         Process failure
    6 short         Keyboard controller Gate A20 error
    7 short         Virtual mode exception error
    8 short         Display memory Read/Write test failure
    9 short         ROM BIOS checksum failure
    10 short         CMOS shutdown Read/Write error
    11 short         Cache Memory error
    1 long, 3 short         Conventional/Extended memory failure
    1 long, 8 short         Display/Retrace test failed
    I have 3 short beeps.  What the heck is Base 64k RAM failure?? I'm going to email MSI for tech support here, but as we know, they don't have a perfect record in answering tech emails.  So, in the meantime, I'd really appreciate everyones' help.
    Thank you.

  • How to enable system beep?

    Hi, I just installed Arch on my (new) computer, and the system beep doesn't seems to be working.
    In alsamixer, all is unmuted and lsmod gives
    $ lsmod | grep pcspkr
    pcspkr 1795 0
    I have not blacklisted any module, and my DE is LXDE.
    Other sounds works well, and I have problems with udev, don't know if this could be related.
    Thank you
    Fractal

    See if it is activate in the gnome sound panel.

  • Unexplained system beep at logout/restart/shutdown

    For some time now, whenever I logout, restart, or shutdown my iMac, the system beep would sound. Is this normal? Why does it do this? Other than that, everything seems fine.

    Mine does this too, not sure why.. Also, how to post discussions?

  • Disabling System Beep

    I'm trying to disable the beeping that my swing application is doing. I've searched the forum and I've found where you subclass the WToolkit and implement a do nothing on the beep method. I've also set the system property. However, it's still beeping. I've placed my customized toolkit in the same package as my JFrame.
    package framework.globalwindow;
    import sun.awt.windows.WToolkit;
    public class ToolkitMvr extends WToolkit
    public void beep()
    }My JFrame does the following
    System.setProperty("awt.toolkit", "framework.globalwindow.ToolkitMvr");But my application still beeps.
    If I do a System.out.println on getToolkit of my JFrame, I get the sun.awt.windows.WToolkit class name back. That leaves me to think that my setProperty isn't correct. I've played with it but I'm unable to get it to work. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

    Yigit,
    Thanks for grabbing my attention on this...
    r4z0r,
    Is this the beep / alarm that occurs when your battery drops to 10%(?).
    We've raised these issues to development on other models and so we can do on this one as well.  Typically the update is to disable this function through a future bios update.
    Updates can take a few weeks.
    In the meantime, you might check in BIOS under the configuration tab for Power Beep, which can be set to disable.  See if this mutes the beep, or only mutes the beep that occurs when you plug / unplug AC while the system is running.
    Best regards,
    Mark

  • Random intermittent system beeps

    I've got a '07 c2d mini. Been working great. A couple weeks ago it started emitting quiet short beeps. Well, it's only one beep at a time, but after a while another will happen, then another, etc. There's no pattern to it. They're usually separated by at least 30 seconds, but you could go for hours without one. But when they happen there's often a cluster within 20 minutes or so.
    I disconnected everything except the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. I stopped every program from running except built-in system processes. There are no revealing messages in the logs. I've watched the activity monitor (sorted by CPU%) during the beeps and nothing shows up.
    These beeps are coming from the mini box itself, not through the speakers (which are hooked up).
    Any ideas? I'm running the latest software.

    I disconnected the internal speaker last night thinking that had to fix it. But it is STILL beeping! It's very hard to tell from where inside the thing it's coming from. What inside the mini could generate a beep or a beep-like sound?
    Going nuts here. Thanks...

  • System beeps continuously at logo screen until I hit enter

    For the last coupleof days, when I start the system, I get a continuous beeping or chirping sound shortly after the Lenovo logo is displayed.   The system doesn't proceed until I hit the enter key.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks Duck3, and also caveman31,
    It turns out it is some sort of keyboard problem.  At one point I thought it might be related to a KVM switch I was using while wrking with two machines and one keyboard/monitor setup.  However, removig that and plugging in the keyboard directly to the PC merely changed the error indication.  It appeared to beep once and then continue loading to the logon screen.  At that point the password field was filled with several dozen undisplayed characters. I could backspace over them and then enter my password OK.
    Switching to a different keyboard solved the problem.
    However, that list of beep code looks very handy.  I'll have to stash that away for future use and hope I can remember where I put it if I need it later.
    Now I have to relearn how to use a mouse instead of a touchpad.

  • System beep/vent - n200

    hello!
    i currently always seem to have a beep when I start up the laptop on the login screen (regardless if im using the fingerprint software), the only solution I have found is to leave it muted, but this isnt always practcal, does anyone know of a more suitable/permanent solution?
    Also the vent at the back of the notebook (between the battery and ac plug) appears to be blocked on the other side by a piece of plastic - should that be there? and what is the vent for (i.e. which components).
    thanks for all your help guys (lenovo have decided my 2 week old notebook is outside of its 30-day support)

    Re. your beep. I don't know the fingerprint software on the N200, but on ThinkPads in control centrer / settings you can turn it off or select another sound.
    Re. the plastic bit - ???

  • GT627 system beeping

    my laptop is beeping constantly upon login in vista.  this issue was discussed previously  on https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=130745.0 , but it has been locked by one of the moderators  i hv disabled the beep function in CMD but it does not help at all. my laptop is not overheating too.. the beeping usually stops when my laptop gets hot enough (after using it for 30 mins)
    my laptop is not under warranty too  i am currently reside in Australia and i bought my laptop from EBAY US. i rang MSI Australia and the dude said they dont repair any US model. but MSI global website states that every laptop comes with  2 years global warranty if i am not mistaken.

    After a little more use, I've observed that in XP it barely beeps. Like, after an hour of being on I heard one beep and nothing more.Also, in Vista sometimes the beeping will go CRAZY, other times it is completely silent. I think the problem is the attempted access to a malfunctioning device... any way to test every single piece of your hardware and see which thing is screwed up?
