System Copy Solution Manger
hi everybody,
I want to change the location of the solution manager to another server. Could a system copy be the best way?
how can I do it?
regards
manu
Hi,
System copy would be the right call. Here's how you do it.
How to make a system copy:
1. Take offline backup of both the server (source and target servers)
2. Verify the backup is successfully done.
3. Run the following command on source system.
a. Login as adm
b. svrmgrl
c. connect internal
d. alter database backup controlfile to trace;
e. exit;
f. Above command will generate a .trc file in /oracle/P01/saptrance/usertrace directory.
g. Copy the text from CREATE CONTROLFILE until the ( and paste it in to any new .sql or controlfile.sql file.
h. Copy the controlfile.sql to target system.
i. Edit the file and replace the entire source SID to target SID.
j. Edit the reuse database command with the set database command
4. Copy the aft generated during the backup file from the source system to target system. (/oracle//sapbackup)
a. Change all the source to target .
b. Only don't change the backup volume name it must be target system .
c. Copy the above aft file name line from the source back.log to target.log file.
5. Shutdown the target server instance.
6. From this onwards all the command on the target system only.
a. Login as adm
b. run the SAPDBA
c. select J (Restore/Recovery)
d. select B (Full restore and recovery)
e. select A (Select backup of type)
f. Select the offline backup which you want to restore.
g. It will take some time to restore.
h. Once the database is restored login as adm and run the
i. svrmgrl
j. connect internal;
k. startup nomount (if the database is already mounted shutdown it using the shutdown command)
l. run the following command
m. @controlfile.sql (file name of the control file contains the CREATE CONTROLFILE statement)
n. After the run the above command it should give the "Statement Processed)
o. alter database open resetlogs
p. shutdown
q. Start the database and SAP services using startup.
7. After this you have to reconfigure the STMS.
8. All the jobs also you have to reconfigure and reschedule.
9. Reconfigure all the printers.
10. If you want to change the Client number then use the local copy tool and remove the original client after successfully import to new client.
Feel free to revert back.

Integrating third party system with solution manger
Dear All,
How we can do integration between third patrty system and solution manager. As part of our implementation we have got some other application to be integrated with SAP . We have got ECC 6.0 and Solution manager. Can any one guide me how to do this,
Thanks
HanyHi Pankaj,
Yes this is possible.
Create an RFC using SM37 transaction.
Build the logic to retrieve the data.
The 3rd party system also should have the necessary logic to be triggered once there is a call from RFC & get the primary keys based on which it will retrieve data & pass it to SAP.
Best regards,

How to setup system monitoring of EP 7 to Solution Manger 7.0
Hi Experts,
I need help for configuring EP 7 (only JAVA engine) for system to Solution Manger 7.0. IF anyone of you have steps or config guide pls help me ???Hi Vikas,
In general, system monitoring in SAP Solution Manager use CCMS as the data supplier, which means that, you need to configure CCMS alert infrastructure for your EP system.
General steps:
1. Configure solution manager or other ABAP system as the CEN (central) system as the CCMS infrastructure.
2. Install SAPCCMSR agent (which is part of CCMS Agent), and connect the agent to CEN system
3. Setup system monitoring in Solution Manager
For more information, you can access the help portal of SAP.
Hope that helps.
Thanks, Jett -

How to add EP(DEV and QAS and PRD systems in solution manager)
Dear Gurus,
I want to include EP dev and qality and prodution systems in solution manager .
While installation of EP(only ASJAVA it is not having ASABAP) i selected solution manager as a Central SLD. But i deleted the systems in solution manger and recreated it again. I created all the systems and datatabae and logical components but in maintenane optimizer it is showing only production system but it is not showing development and quality systems in maintenance optimizer.
How to see developmnet and quality systems in maintenace optimizer.
Same thing for ECC also.

Solution Manager PostProcessing after system copy
Hello,
I have made a system copy of a Solution Manager 7.01 system and I cannot find any Solman Specific postprocessing tasks.
I'm wondering specifically regarding cleanup of SMSY and Solutions etc.
Do anyone have such documentation or know if it is available somewhere?
Observe that I'm not talking about the general postprocessing after a systemcopy, but specifically for Solution manager components, such as SMSY and MOPZ etc.
I have ran report from note 1300107 with variant to remove all reports older than 1day to clean up table DSVARSRESULTSGEN.
Best regards
TomasHi there,
No sure i understand your question 100%, but here is how i understand it:
You've had a solution manager set up for a system (lets say system ABC, with DEV, QAS, PRD)
Now, you want to set up a solution manager for another system (system XYZ, with DEV, QAS, PRD)
so you copied the settings from system ABC, renamed it to XYZ and now you just want to configure XYZ?
Is that correct? -

Error in editing object: Error in RFC to Solution Manger System
Hi All,
Our System release is ERP 6.0 EhP4 and our DB is Oracle.
When we try to create or edit any object (eg: Function module, package, function group, tables) in our system and save it in a local workbench request, we are getting an error which states: Error in editing object: Error in RFC SM_<SID>CLNT<Client>_BACK to Solution Manger System.
Though we have deleted the RFC SM_<SID>CLNT<Client>_BACK, we still get the same error when we try to edit an object and save it in a workbench request. But when we save all these in a local object instead of a package we do not get any error.
Can any one please suggest some solution for this?? As we are held up in some critical activity.
Regards,
Yamini.Hi,
Not sure - but maybe a cross system lock seems to exist. Perhaps you can check this:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_em70/helpdata/en/43/7227481a856fcae10000000a1553f6/content.htm
Or else create the Back RFC to SolMan and check how it proceeds.

System copy guide for Solution Manager 7.0 SPS15
Hello,
a new hardware is needed for our SAP Solution Manager 7.0 SPS 15. I will install a new SAP Solution Manager and do a system copy from the old hardware to the new one. There is no migration neccessary, because OS and DB will be the same.
Now I'm searching for some informations and guides to do a system copy of a SAP Solution Manager. All I found was a system copy guide of Netweaver 04s SR3/SR2 with informations about Java Usage Types but not for Diagnostics.
Are there any guides or howtos to do a system copy with SAP Solution Manager ABAP+JAVA? Does anyone have experiences and advices?
Kind regards,
Sascha Piotrowsky> Looking forwards to this event I'm afraid of forgetting some dependencies or configurations which have to be changed also, like SMD-Agents configuration,s trusted connections, wiley introscope, e2e and so on.
Wily is not part of the copy - you will need to copy this "manually". The connections et al must be re-done...

Install ECC6.0 and solution manger on a system
Hi all,
Can we install ECC6.0 and solution manger together on a system?
Thanks
DuypmHi,
- When I use T-code solution_manager, It appear error "Transaction solution_manager does not exist" on status bar.
- When I use T-code spro -> SAP Reference IMG, I can't see "SAP Solution Manger Implementation Guide" on Display IMG. I just can see "SAP customizing Implementation Guide" on this Display.
Please advise,
Thanks

Hi ;
I am Installing SAP nw 04 Ides Sr1 and Solution manager is mandatory for installation. i am using solution manager for first time.
can any one tell me how to generate solution manager key
from tr code SMSY.(I have defined system but key generation option is not there)
And i am also confused about solution manger license key from market place.wheather it is mandatory to install permanent license key before generating solution manager key for further installation.
Regards
NileshHi:
Solution Manager Key is a requirement when installing NetWeaver based products; in this case your IDES system.
If you already had added the system into Solution Manager directory, then to generate the key proceed as follows:
from Tx. SMSY select:
--> from the menu "System Landscape" --> "Other Objects..."
...Then a new dialog box will show; choose the "System" option (checked by default) and drill down to select the system ID you need an installation/upgrade key.
...Once you have the system selected; choose from the Icons below the "Generate Installation/Upgrade Key"
...A new window will open; in that box you need to fill the actual system environment, then click "Generate Key" button.
That's all, you can now continue with the installation procedure!!! (copy and paste the installation key during installation in the SAPinst)
The difference between the both key's is the following:
- The Solution Manager key is only required during installation and the Marketplace Key that you need to install with Tx. SLINCESE is the actual license key for your IDES system installation.
Hope this helps !

Hi Supports,
I am using sapinst homogeneous system copy in Linux on sybase.
I stuck on the the step 27/49 "create Database".
I checked Firewall is off.
i got points in my sapinst_dev.log that "
1)The log segment in the target database 'SID' is too small (9216 MB) to accommodate the log segment from the dumped database (10240 MB)"
and
2)"Can't change the owner of the master, model, tempdb or sybsystemprocs database"
Do i need to increase "sybase/SID/saplog_1" ? because my "saplog_1" is 49 mb now.
if it is ! how do i increase in this stage.
can any one know about this error???
Thanks,
Aziz.Hi,
When i seen SID.log file so its showing deadlock and checkpoint occurring,
Is any solution ???
Is this because of networks?
we had 2 servers on this same IP. but i stopped one server and one is still running.
please find my SID.log file and revert back if any soltion.

Activating data in DSO got dump SAPSQL_EMPTY_TABNAME after BW system copy
Hi all,
We had an issue after system copy.
After a system copy the data in the standard DSOs(all of them) cannot be activated. The DOSs themselves are active, the transformations are active but if one attempts to load data and activate u2013 it does not work. The job terminates with shortdump SAPSQL_EMPTY_TABNAME.
Found the issue is caused by u201Cmore than one versionu201D of the change log.
We tried the Program RSAR_RSTSODS_CHANGELOG_VRS but it didn't work.
We had the solution like this:
After activating the DSO itself(the object) using RSDG_ODSO_ACTIVATE the issue disappears and the data can be activated. Issue also disappears. BUT Drawback: Activating the DSO causes the transformations to deactivate. Then we used the program RSDG_TRFN_ACTIVATE to activate all transformations. And then the issue disappeared.
Want to know what the root cause for this. From some SDN threads, mentioned BDLS job in the post refresh steps are not correctly done during system copy may cause this issue. How did the BDLS run wrongly cause this issue? And what is the exact correct way? We ran BDLS for each source systems inlcuding the target refreshed BW system itself by the default selection - conversion of Client-Dependent and Client-Independent Tables; because we used database copy
for the system refresh.
We also restored all source systems in RSA1 inlcuding the refreshed BW system own in the post-refresh steps.
Thank you very much for your information and suggestion.
HemingHi Arun, as you say two change log tables it´s strange. In fact in my opinion it´s not right but the problem is that the second change log table appears after executing std SAP report RSDG_ODSO_ACTIVATE in order to be able to activate the DSO. So the solution provided by SAP it works but i´m not sure if the right one. Besides this the original change log table is full of data while the second one is empty... for new loads which are gonna a be filled by the activation process ? I suppose the second one... will this have some impact with the data stored in the first one... not in theory but.... i do not feel confortable with the consequences of this report.
And the most important, it seems that the reason why the DSO and the change log table had problems is due to a some problems or missing steps after executing the BDLS after BW system refresh but nobody can confirm this point...
So, i´ve been able to solve the issue but now i have two change log tables for the same DSO.
Anybody has the same situation after executing the above mentioned SAP std report ?
