Solution Manager PostProcessing after system copy
Hello,
I have made a system copy of a Solution Manager 7.01 system and I cannot find any Solman Specific postprocessing tasks.
I'm wondering specifically regarding cleanup of SMSY and Solutions etc.
Do anyone have such documentation or know if it is available somewhere?
Observe that I'm not talking about the general postprocessing after a systemcopy, but specifically for Solution manager components, such as SMSY and MOPZ etc.
I have ran report from note 1300107 with variant to remove all reports older than 1day to clean up table DSVARSRESULTSGEN.
Best regards
TomasHi there,
No sure i understand your question 100%, but here is how i understand it:
You've had a solution manager set up for a system (lets say system ABC, with DEV, QAS, PRD)
Now, you want to set up a solution manager for another system (system XYZ, with DEV, QAS, PRD)
so you copied the settings from system ABC, renamed it to XYZ and now you just want to configure XYZ?
Is that correct? -

Solution Manager 4.0 client copy
Hi all,
We have installed solution manager 4.0 SP 12. We have also done a client copy from 001 to 100 in order to work exclusively in the client 100. I have also changed the client reference in RSADMINA table and the UME from 001 to 100. Finally, when I wanted to implement Solution Manager Diagnostics, I have run the "Setup Wizard" and it created automatically the RFC destination "WEBADMIN" but with client 001. I tried to check everywhere where the old client is still mentioned in both ABAP and Java parts, but no way. Could you tell me please if I forgot something to do after the client copy? Where can I change definitively the reference of the old client?
Thanks in advance for your action.
Regards,Did you use client 000 as your source client (001 as the user master)? You should not client copy from source 001 as of solman 4.0.

How do I setup RFC if Solution Manager and Target system are in same server
Dear Experts,
How do I setup RFC if the Solution Manager and the Target System (SAP ERP 6.0) are sitting in the same server?
Do I really need to setup RFC?
regards,
AbrahamHello,
An RFC is a Remote Function Call and is used to communicate between computer systems.
A system can be on a server. Multiple systems can be on a single server, a single system can exist on multiple servers.
When you setup the RFC Target it is the Host and not the system that is specified.
You can get the host information when logged into the ERP system by running transaction SM59.
This would then be the target Host in the RFC from Solman to the ERP system.
As Miguel suggested this is rather simple. So I hope this has shone a light for you so you may proceed.
But if you continue to have problems please advise.

Regarding authorization in solution manager for Central system monitoring
Hi,
I want to Prevent users from deleting Task logs in central system monitoring
in solution manager
I have assigned the roles SAP_SV_SOLUTION_MANAGER_DISP
But it gives display authorization for everything unable to keep track of
changes in monitoring
Can anyone please help me to prevent users from deleting task log history
Since I have to keep track of one month data
What can be the suitable role for it ? or what authorization objects i should
make a change to prevent deleting tasklog.
Kindly help me in this regard
Regards
Sanjeev.SThanks for your prompt reply
I am not saying about SDDCN
In transction solution_manager => opertation set up = > central system
administation
we will do manual monitoring for sattelite systems in this path. what we monitored
will be entered in task log history.
So what can be the suitable role to prevent the deleting of the task log history.
There is option delete task history. if any one by mistake clicked on that ,all the
records of monitoring will be lost.
so kindly suggest me a suitable solution -

Some quick question for solution manager in 2 system landscape
First of all is there any way to not implement Solution manager but to still be able to patch the system.?
i really need it only for this.
If there is no way to avoid the solution manager, tell me is the saprouter the only way for connection to SAP for the patches download. I don't need anything else for now.
IS there a way to use a direct connection to SAP,?
do the sAP router has to have 2 NICs where one is the public and one the private IP?
i need to solve this one quickly so any help would be appreciated
Thank you in advance!Hi,
you do not need Solution Manager to patch the systems but you need Solution Manager to approve download basket for downloading pacthes.
Information regarding the connection to SAP can be found at:
Note 35010 - Service connections: Composite note (overview)´
Hope this helps. -
Competitors for SAP Solution Manager within central system monitoring
Hello!
We currently use SAP Solution Manager (CCMS monitors from RZ20) for the central system monitoring for several SAP systems.
Are there some other tools/competitors that can also serve as central platform for system monitoring of several SAP systems?
(e.g. HP OpenView).
Many thanks!Hello,
You may want to take a look into the EarlyWatch Alert report.
It's a weekly report that gives information about many different areas of your systems and helps you to maintain them. It helps to detect problems before they occur by analysing trends on your systems and alerting about it. It definitely may work taking a look into it: service.sap.com/ewa.
It does not have an additional cost, all you need is a solution manager.
Regards,
Daniel.

Solution Manager on Discovery System
Hello,
is it possible to install the SAP Solution Manager as a separate dual stack instance on the discovery system in parallel to the pre-installed ERP instance?
Kind regards,
Daniel KotteHi Daniel,
I believe it is technically possible but you would probably sacrafice a lot of performance. Another java engine and another ABAP engine would need a significant amount of additional memory. However, If you don't run both at the same time you may be ok.
FYI - SAP has not tested this so I cannot garantee it will work. -
Can Solution Manager monitor TIBCO system
Hi there, can solution manager be configured to monitor TIBCO system - such as if certain services is running on TIBCO, check it's file system size, read files and check for Errors...etc?
CeciliaHi Craig:
More questions. Would Solution Manager 3.2 or 4.0 be able to do it without the adapter?

Transport Solution Manager configuration between systems
Hello all,
I created a configuration project for service desk on spro_admin on development environment. Then configured all the basic steps for service desk. Now how can move things to quality system and then to Prodution? Is it enough to create a project transport or do I need anything else? Because when I created a project transport (from spro_admin) it only added a few things to it, not all objects I've customized. My concern is that BC sets for example won't be imported in the other systems or so.
Any guides on this?
Regards,
RicardoHi,

Create a Project Transport? what do you want to do? If there is anything in a Transport request it can be obviously imported into your QAS and to PRD, you need to decide if you have completed the config.

What did you actually do? were the changes not imported completely?
Feel free to revert back.

Solution Manager Setup System Monitoring DB Administrating Alerts
Greetings experts
Can someone please explain how I can get "DB Administrating Alerts" to display in Solution Manager.
Satellite system (FSD) database MTE's are all active (RZ20).
Tcode: DSWP / tab:Solution Monitoring / tab:System Monitoring /
Service: Setup System Monitoring
Tree:
Setup System Monitoring
+--> SAP System FSD 1320011126
+--> Database FSD-DATABASE
|
+--> Administrating DB FSD-DATABASE (DB2 6000)
Issue: DB Administrating Alerts do not display.
*Solution Manager 7.01 SP3 / DB2 09.05.0002 / AIX5.3
Regards
Peter BabbingtonHI
1.Do i need to configure the CCMS_OnAlert_Email, for every alert that you have, in the satellite system?
Best thing I would say is to copy method ( RZ21 --> Method --> Method definition )CCMS_OnAlert_Email to Z_CCMS_OnAlert_Email in Solman and assign this auto reaction to MTE class of satellite systems.
2. How do i configure this out of solution manager, and bypassing the satellite system?
You have to install/configure sapccm4x( for monitoring abap ) on satellite systems by giving details about Solution manager. Then the alert will be sent to Solution manager from satellite system and the configured auto reaction will send mails .

Error in RFC & to Solution Manager System
Hi,
Error in RFC & to Solution Manager System
can anyone tells me why this error occurs???
With regards
kulwinderFYI
We have just had same issue thaat in certain scenarios with RFC communication BACK to Solution Manager from Satellite system we got the error. We resolved this by looking at the RFC user used in the BACK connection (i.e. SOLMAN<SID>) on the Solution Manager and changing the user type from communications.
Hope this helps someone else, I spent ages digging around for an answer to such a simple fix

Background job canceled in Solution Manager system

SAP customer number unknown for installation number 0020606335
Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE
please help me , what should i do ?
I am waiting for your positive response.
Regards
Shubhhi,
You can try following ....
For the job SEND_SYSTEM_RELATIONSHIP_TO_SUP
Program : AI_SC_SEND_SYSTEM_RELATIONSHIP
1. Up to Support Package 09:
a) Start transaction SMSY.
b) Choose Shft+F5.
c) Select the system named in the message.
d) Choose F6.
e) Select the "System Data in SAP Support Portal" tab.
f) Using the input help, fill the system number field with the correct system.
g) Save the data.
2. Up to and including Support Package 08:
a) Start transaction SOLMAN_CONNECT.
b) Select the system in question in the ID field and choose the filter pushbutton.
c) Select the system and select "Create configuration".
d) Fill the system number field using the input help with the correct system.
e) For example, select the "BW GUI Connection" service type.
f) Carry out all of the subsequent steps of the Configuration Assistant until you see the "Finish" pushbutton.
This establishes a unique relationship between your system in the Solution Manager and the system number in the SAP Support Portal. Problems no longer occur with this system when the SEND_SYSTEM_RELATIONSHIP_TO_SUPP job is next run. However, the problem may still exist for other systems (in these cases, you should follow the same steps).
Hope this will help to solve your issue..
