System is unicode or not?

Hello
For some reason, i need to find out that executing system is unicode enabled or not? i should know it with in my prog. I need it to put a validation in mu prog. I checked SYST structure at runtime, no use!

I am not understanding what are you trying to say.
If I am correct then you want to check whether your SAP system is UNICODE enabled or not.
If this is your query, then you can find this thing by:
Login to SAP -> GoTo system -> Click on Status.
In the middle, you will see "Unicode System", if value is "Yes", then your system is Unicode enabled.

How does sapinst know if a system is unicode or not

While installing a new dialog server the sapinst is failing.
One of the messages I found in the log indicates sapinst can not find kernels in a non-unicode directory structure.
The system in question is unicode and we have no Non-Unicode directories to copy from. If sapinst would look in the proper location it would find the files in question.

1. How to find a system(hp unix) is unicode or non unicode system?
2. How many ways are there to find?

Hi Nani,
Easiest way of finding it is , log in to SAP then select System --> Status , then check the value against Unicode System . You can see Yes if its a Unicode system.
The other way is checking the executables in your exe directory. Eg
tp -V |pg --> check the compilation mode . It says whether its Unicode or non Unicode.

Transfer file from MDMP system to Unicode system

Hi all,
We are facing this problem for some weeks now and our basis team and myself are completely lost on this.
Recently we have installed the Polish language (in fact codepage 8859-2) via so called 'MDMP' on our 4.6C HR-system.
We did this because there is a need to enter special Polish characters in eg Employee names for Poland.
So far so good, the Polish characters can be entered and look just fine when loggon on in Language 'PL'.
But now, we need to send a file to our payroll partner (adp) and of course we need to keep the Polish characters along the way.
Our payroll partner's system is unicode at ECC6.0.
The first problem is, that the file (produced via abap program on sap server Unix HP) only looks good when you look at it via AL11 from within SAP, when logged on in Polish. I used the command "set locale language 'L'" in the abap program to set the language settings to Polish.
When I download the file to my PC or look at it from Unix, the Polish characters are rubbish.
After transferring the file to the payroll partner(encrypted and with sftp), the Polish characters also look like rubbish(even when logged in in Polish and using AL11) , and they do not succeed in loading the file on their end.
Does anyone have any experience or thought on this subject, I have spent days and days reading a lot of SAP Notes and other documents about this subject. I would appreciate any help, thanks !

What you see is expected behaviour.
MDMP is a technology where the application server displaying characters "knows" that it's using a different locale than the default and hence displaying things correctly.
The problem you have is that an ASCII code in polish locale is not necessarily identical to the ASCII code in a different locale (e. g. English). To display the characters correctly in e. g. notepad you would need to use a polish Windows system (or a MUI installation where you can switch the locales).
You may be able to use sapiconv to convert the files to a Unicode format (see Note 752859 - sapiconv - a tool for converting the encoding of files) but basically the only clean way would be to upgrade your 4.6c system and migrate to Unicode.

Changes in source system dyring Unicode conversion

Hi,
I've upgraded our R/3 non-Unicode installation to ERP 6.0 non-Unicode using CU&UC guide. Now I plan to do the export & import phase to migrate the source system to Unicode.
My question is, does the export phase (where the Unicode conversion actually takes place) do any changes in the source system? It' is a production system, and when something goes wrong or the time exceeds the limit I have for the export, I need to stop the export, put it back to production and try another time. So I need to be sure that the export itself doesn't do any changes to the source system.

Hi Tomas,
the export simply "copies" the source system (and converts the data to Unicode) - it does not change it.
Therefore you can still use it after the export is finished.

Remote system monitoring entry- data not relayed to Central system

Hello Folks,
I am trying to establish a central monitoring system for our client. I am trying to test it in the DEV environment first.
The central system is a Solution manager system (Dual stack- ABAPJAVA). I am trying to bring in monitoring data from the ECC development environment (ABAPJAVA).
First of, i created to RFC connections in Solution manager system, one for data collection and the other for analysis. I have maintained the host address of the ECC system as target.
Then i have created a remote system entry in Transaction RZ21--> technical infrastructure entered the 2 RFC names and have executed the function.
At this point i am only trying to bring in ABAP stack monitoring data form the ECC system so i have not generated the CSNCONF file.
Now when i look in Solution manager RZ20-->CCMS monitoring templates, i can't see any data for the the ECC system.
I guess i am doing something wrong. Am i looking in the wrong monitor set?
As additional information: Solution manager (SMD) and ECC (ECD) use different transport domains / transport groups. I dont know if this makes a difference.
Can some one please help.

Hi Prashant,
if I understand correctly your system shows only MTEs from R/3 Stack, not from the OS side, pls check your SAPOSCOL. Are the data in OS06 in your remote system correct and do you see the current data, refredhed all 10 seconds?
To check your environment, pls do the following:
in th efirst step check in RZ21 > in the Topology part the System Overview for your system connection to your back end system. Are the Read Destination Data RFC and the Destination Analysis RFC correct and works the authority chek fine?
In the second step pls check in RZ21 > in the Agents for Remotey SAP Systems part; are there registered your remote ccms agents correctly and works the connection test.
Stop the agents and in your RZ20 monitor pls enter STAT in your command field. Are there displayed for your MTE nodes the read RFC destinations?
Start the agents and and in your RZ20 monitor pls enter STAT in your command field. Are there displayed for your MTE nodes the CCMS Agent RFC destinations?
To rebuild the Monitor in the CEN system you could try to reset the node of your remote system in the warm up status > go in the remote system to RZ1 > go to local segments > change to edit > select your segments > reset segment in "WARMUP" status.
In the CEN system you coul try to go to the edit mode for the Agents for Remot SAP Systems > select your remote system and push the button Reinitialize Agents
In the back end system you can try to delete all MTEs in RZ21 > menu Technical Infrastructure > Reorgenize Segment Table > select the options with "ALL" in the CEN and the remote system to reorgenize all data.
Could you pls post for the missing MTEs a screenshot on the one side from the CEN system and on the other side from the remote system...
and last but not least you could try the following for missing OS MTEs
delete ALALERTS, ALMTTREE and ALPERFHI in /usr/sap/ccms/<SID>_<SNR> and check in the agents folder all trace and log files for errors.

Sun Java System Application Server8 can not startup (help me )

I have used this tool for three weeks , in the frist week. everything is ok.
no probroblem happened. in the second week ,sometimes my JSC can not startup, so I restarted my JSC. and it can work again. later, the same problem happened again. when I restarted my JSC , it sill does not work, so I have to restart my computer and it startup successfully,
two days later, the same problem happened again. I restarted my computer , it still did not work. so I have to change my port number in the domain.xml. sometimes it woks well, but sometimes I can't not startup.
in the third week, no matter what I do, the problem can not be solved.
some of my colleagues don't have such problem. but some of them have the same problem. when I run my project on the computer that don't have such problem , it can startup. I don't know why, just a little weird.
till now , no one in our company can tell why this problem happened.
and I believe that anybody who use JSC will encountered this error sooner or later.
who can tell me why will this problem happen? and where can I find some related imformation about this problem. thanks!!!!!!

Restarting the computer should have stopped the appserver.
To kill the appserver manually you can go to the command prompt
<install-dir>\Sun\Creator2\SunAppServer8\bin\asadmin.bat\stop-appserv

I have created a ALV report in ABAP Webdynpro.
When i try to print the ALV Report it gives Communication failure : Print version System Failure: Bean SALV_WD_EXPORT_PDF not found on host.
I belive i need to install Usage Type BI Java.
Can someone help me with the same how to find the installation. I am unable to find what to install.

I had a computer expert try everything and we cannot get it to open.

Look for the firefox process firefox.exe and kill it with for instance task manager. it is also worth watching for plugincontainer.exe.

Windows SharePoint Services Error: Exception Details: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find the application on the Web

I am developing a WSS based WCM site for a customer which has a bilingual interface. Now everything is wokring fine in the development environment. Today I backed-up the Content Database and took the related control file (.ascx & .ascx.cs) to deploy it to the cusomter's test machine. I dint face any problems with the deployment, and after deleted and added the Content DB from Central Administration, I was able to access the English part of the website along with my changes without any problem.
But when I tried accessing the Arbic part of the website, Its giving me the following error,

When i Try to save the service order i get the error messages which is coming from my validation
After the error messgae i press ENTER and then try to change the order by clcicking on the advance shipment.
As soon as i click on that i get a STOP messgae.
Which i as below.
System: Status object does not exist
If I comment all my code and write only error message then it comes.
but it does't come for information and warning message.
actually steps are
1. go to IW51
2. create notification then service order then sales order
3. if product hierarchy is different for material then it should display error on saving
4. it is giving error message(my error message)
5. if i press enter and then click on advance shipment icon(truck) for change it display standard message.
which turn me out of transaction.
but if i click on advance shipment icon without pressing enter its working fine..
my error message is a normal error message .
message e038(zcrm)
" service line must be same".
pls suggest.

After MESSAGE add STOP. :
MESSAGE ixxx(xxx) with param1 param2 param3 DISPLAY LIKE 'E'.
STOP.
or If ambiguity with usage of STOP being obselete use EXIT after message.
MESSAGE ixxx(xxx) with param1 param2 param3 DISPLAY LIKE 'E'.
EXIT.

Source system BID-010 does not exist

Hi,
I have installed BI statistics in BI 7.0 in Dev.While transporting to QA system, I am getting the following error message:
"Source system BID-010 does not exist"

Thanks for your reply.Logical system BID was not there in QA.I have made the required changes.
I also received an error as " There is no DataSource with these attributes
Reference to transfer structure 0TCTBWOTYPE_TEXT_HA not available. No activation possible. "
I checked in table RSTSODS ,transfer struct 0TCTBWOTYPE_TEXT_HA" is active.
Can you please help..

Hp the system recovery media does not support this computer, WIN7 GS72 Notebook

HProduct: GS-B66US (17" I3 notebook)
OS: Win7
Bios Rev: F.47
Error message: "hp the system recovery media does not support this computer. You are not able to restore this system"
Changes made to system: Updated bios (I think).
Getting error messages (at system boot, as windows start, and from the intel hard drive controller) warning me to backup data and hard drive my fail.
I replaced the harddrive and inserted the first of my 4 recovery DVDs (created before I updated the bios). After booting from the first recovery disk I get the following message
"hp the system recovery media does not support this computer. You are not able to restore this system with the media"
The computer still boots with the old hard drive (with drive failure imminent messages) I do see support assistant offering another bios update but I did not install it with the hard drive problem

Hi,
I think there could be two possible reason. wrong media or systemboard is changed.
did you create any recovery media yourself or you ordered the recovery media from hp? also, was there any systemboard replacement done before?
media created on some other computer (same model) may not work on your computer.
you can order the media from hp.com here.

also once systemboard is replaced you need to get the configuration settings done for BIOS(only HP can do it).
