T/x wireless setup

I am new to this forum. Thanks for letting me join.  I recently bought a Palm TX.  While trying to set up a WiFi connection my screen goes blank.  I have to reboot to do anything even turn it off.  It goes blank when I try to turn on the internal radio.  Please help me.
Post relates to: Palm TX

Hi and welcome to the forum. It seems that a Hard Reset might be in order. First Hotsync to back everything up. Then, while holding down the power button, press and release the Reset button in the back. Keep holding down the power button, until the 2nd Palm logo appears. Then let go. It will ask you if you want to erase everything...press UP on the 5-way pad to answer Yes. After it sets up (try it before you Hotsync all your data back), you should be able to turn on the Wi-Fi radio. If not, it is defective. Good luck!

  • WiFi Wireless Setup Wizard produces Blue Screen of Death on Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

The wireless setup wizard on my Officejet Pro 8600 Plus is failing immediately after "scanning for networks". I get a blue screen of death with error message B8494B00, followed by "turn printer on and off" with flashing screen.
I bought the printer about one month ago and it has worked perfectly so far. My Apple Time Capsule failed yesterday, so I bought a new one (latest model) and had to set up the wireless network again. When I tried to do so on the printer, I got the error for the first time. Nothing else had changed. Other devices are working with no problems on the new network. The computer is an Apple iMac running OS Mountain Lion.
I have tried turning the printer on and off, disconnecting the power and reconnecting, then turning it on again, but no result. I have restored the wireless to factory settings, but no difference.
    Please help.

Right off I have to tell you I do not "speak Mac".
I assume the "Apple Time Capsule" is a name for a network router?  A syncing device?
    Unless I am mistaken:
You do not need the Wizard to set up the network -- it is pretty software for an HP PC; when it works, it can make things easier.  The setup Wizard is not necessary for the process.  I should think this is true for the Mac.
    =====================================================================================
If you cannot get someone from the Printing group to answer your specific concern,
you may have succes with the following:
The User Guide has pretty good detail on how to set up the networking necessary to get the printer connected to either a PC or Mac environment.  Assuming you can get the printer to "Reset network settings" (User Guide, page 222), then you can re-enter the information you require manually.  It is a bit tedious, but is may work better than fighting the Wizard.
    OfficeJet Pro 8600 User Guide
You may be able to circumvent sone or all of this by reinstalling the Full Feature Software for your printer -- that assumes you are first able to "reset network settings", at least, and get a printout test page to verify that the reset actually worked.

  • Wireless setup

I have a laserjet 100 color mfp m175nw.  My computer is a lenovo T430s running Windows 7.    I've been using the printer/scanner as a wireless.  I replaced my modem and now need to setup the wireless again.  These directions from the hp website say to  use the printer's control panel, and go to Setup (did that), Network menu (did that), and then the Wireless Setup Wizard is suppoesd to display a list of wireless networks in the area.
    http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/wireless/printer-setup-help.html
I haven't been able to find the list of wireless networks.

    Hi,
Run the printer installation CD, download its latest software from the HP site or go to My Computer and launch its installation thorugh the listed HP Smart Install drive.
Select Wireless connection and follow the steos on screen to reconfigure the wireless connection for your new router.

  • HP Deskjet 3054A Wireless setup without access to router.

    Hey everyone,
I own an HP Deskjet 3054A, and I would like to be able to print wirelessly. When I go through the wireless setup, it tells me to either: 1) enter a PIN on the wireless router or 2) Use WPS (Wireless protected setup). The problem is that I don't have access to my building's router (I'm a student, afterall).
I know some HP printers have a feature where you can plug it into your computer via USB, and have it set it up for wireless; mine does not seem to have that, as when I open up the HPLIP (HP printing software for Linux--- yes, I do use Linux), and add the device, and select "Wireless/802.11 (requires a temporary USB connection and is only available for select devices)", and connect the computer to the printer, and click "Next", but it says "No wireless capable devices found". I assume that this is because the printer is not one of the aformentioned "select devices". Is there anyway of enabling this feature? I'm not afraid of loading custom firmware or writing some C code if neccessary I'm a nerd afterall!
    I'm using Ubuntu 12.10.
    Thanks,
    Jordan

OK, this model does support an ad-hoc style wifi connection, however only for the first hour after its first power on sequence (or a reset of the network settings).
So, sorry, I think you are stuck with a USB connection.

  • HP Photosmart 5520 Wireless Setup Wizard Hangs, USB fails to install

    Hello,
I bought a HP Photosmart 5520 4 weeks ago. I installed it and setup a wireless connection. It worked for 1 week without flaws.
After a holiday my HP PS5520 printer lost its wireless connection to the network. I restarted the printer, still no wireless connection. all other devices like iPhones work OK on the wireless network. Tried to run the Wireless Setup Wizard again but the routine hangs (the spinner stops) when searching for routers and no networks are displayed, it hangs. Only a powercord detach can/will hard-restart the printer. After starting the printer, the printer complains that I should us the power butten, but that does not work when it hangs at the wireless setup wizard.
I tried this routine several times, but the printer hangs every time when searching for routers... Tried manual, reset factory defaults, reset network defaults etc... Wireless is simply impossible to use since it can not be setup.
So I tried to use the USB port directly attached to my PC. Since the wireless driver was installed, I connected the printer to the PC with USB but then it was marked as a unrecognised device by Windows 7. I tried to add the HP driver manually but when selecting the CD (inf), Windows tells me that the service stoppen (-10)...
So I installed the software from the CD which pointed me to the online version of the software which I installed. After selecting the USB radiobutton, it tells me to connect the HP PS 5520 which I did, but the HP install window failes to detect that the printer is plugged into the USB port and the printer is installed by Windows as an unknown device.
I uninstalled the 'unknown device' and tried again, wthout luck. Tried another USB port, Windows installed it again as an unknown device and the HP software failes to pick it up. So after googling I deleted all HP software from my computer (Intel I7 - 8 GB), uninstalled the unknown USB device from windows, rebooted several times, deleted all HP folders and cleaned all temp-folders (I am an IT professional!).
So, I installed the software again but when the HPO software asks me to attach the USB cable, Windows again installed the 5520 as an unbknown device and the HP software again failes to see that the printer is attached to the PC.
Tomorrow I will buy a new printer but since this HP 5520 is only 4 weeks old, I really want to knwo how I can fix
1 The issue that the HP printer hangs when searching for routers / wireless networks
2 Windows/HP software to find the HP 5520 through USB
I guess nobody will have an answer since Google does not give any help. This post is merely to expose my frustration that HP makes fine printers but failes to deliver issue-free software... I always have issues when setting up HP printers somehow...
Of coarse I hope that somebody has a clue..... Good night!

Bought this printer a month ago.  I have no problem with both LAN +Wireless setup.

I noticed once the printer is not on (goes to sleep), it will not wake up by itself.
According to manual, if I send a print job, it should wake up by itself.
Currently, this is what I need to do.
I need to physically turn off and turn on the printer, wait for 10-15 seconds until the wifi blue light is solid (no blinking)

  • C4580 problem Wireless setup (Mac)

    Hello,
    I have a C4580 and a macbook air (10.9)
When I connect the printer with USB works. But when I try to connect via Wireless doesnt work or show.
Since Maveriks install the printer as soon as I connected doesnt show any wireless setup.
I printed the Wireless Network Test Report and it is not connected to the Network (Network status offline).
The UI of the printer doesn't show any way of connecting the printer to the router... it only shows for printing network tests, configuration page and restore network defaults.
The wireless blue led its on, and in the diagnostics summary shows PASS in Wireless on, Wireless Working.
I additionally tried with the HP Utility - HP auto Wireless connect, but doesnt show the printer.
Also, I tryied connecting to hpsetup but gives me a selfassigned IP and this doesn't let me go further in the HP Easy Wireless Setup
    Help!

    Hi Tewers_244
    Since we can not run the Setup Assistant, there is no wireless wizard on the printer or in the Embedded Web Server, you will need to setup the wireless a different way. Please complete the following steps and let me know the outcome;
    To restore network defaults
    1. Press the Wireless button on the product.
    2. Press the button next to the down arrow on the display until Restore Network
Defaults is highlighted, and then press OK.
    3. Confirm that you want to restore the network defaults
To turn the wireless radio on
    1. Press the Wireless button on the product.
    2. Press the button next to the down arrow on the display until Turn Radio On or Turn
Radio Off is highlighted, and then press OK.
    3. Make sure the radio is on
Put the computer on the printers network (temporary)
    1. Click on the Airport symbol on the top left side of the Mac screen
    2. Choose the network that look relative to the printer (might say HP setup or some variation of your printer name)
    3. Wait a couple of minutes to allow the computer and printer to communicate with one another
    Print the wireless network test
Press the Scan button (it also the Wireless menu button)
    Select Wireless Settings
Navigate to Wireless test and select.
The Wireless Network Test prints, look for and note the IP address.
Open an Internet browser (Safari) and enter the IP address into the URL (address bar).
If you require further assistance let me know. If this does not resolve the issue, you might consider upgrading to a model that has full feature software and drivers that is compatible with 10.9. I generally like the models that have the wireless wizard built into the printer control panel too. I hope this information is helpful.

  • Wireless Setup Assistant Not Working

I am not able to figure out out to 1) add a client using pin. Which computer generates the pin? The the host or the client? and 2) I am not able to a Windows client. The windows computer will connect the APE, but the APE will not capture the MAC address and add it.
Is there some step that I am missing?

I, too, am having some difficulty in getting the Wireless Setup Assistant to connect an iPaq 2495b to the network. I just get the spinning icon with no apparent action happening.
    Any thoughts?

  • Wireless setup for one place prevents wireless for another place?

I have an airport extreme at home, with WPA2 personal security and a hidden SSID. At work, I had to use the wireless over there today, which uses WPA2 enterprise with a 802.1X profile. It took some fidgeting (needed to throw away some old stuff from keychain and the "preferred networks" listing, but then it worked.
Getting home, I now cannot connect anymore to my home network. I've tried actively connecting to it (Join other network, providing name, security and pass), but it only gives me a time-out.
Any suggestions? Is there a possibility that somewhere under the hood, the two wireless setups are interfering?

You should simply setup a new location and not throw out all your previous settings.
In network preferences, select new location, call it work and set it up. It will have no effect on the other one which you should label home or something other than default.

  • Samsung CLX-3305W wireless setup

I can't fathom why they make this so difficult, but there are other accounts online documenting similar problems to what I'm having, yet none with a resolution that works for me.
    - Drivers that came on the CD provided are installed
    - A Wireless Utility I found in Samsung's Support documents is installed
    - I can print and scan with USB attached
    - I was successful in getting the printer name ("Portthru") recognized in Airport under Devices, but it still won't print wirelessly
There is a key point that always comes up in Samsung Support as well as in the other cases of people having trouble where you must log-in to Samsung's online utility called SyncThru by entering the printer's IP address into the URL line of your browser so that you can change the printer's IP to a Static one rather than DHCP. Not my router's, the printer's IP.
This is the crux of my problem, I think. I can not log-in to SyncThru. The IP address just brings up a 'page cannot be found' type message.
Also, at one point in the wireless setup assistant there is a button to click "Set IP Address" (for the printer), but it opens a webpage for me where I get the message "No JAVA 2 SDK Standard Edition v 1.4.2 Support for APPLET!!!"
I don't know what to do. In fact, I'm annoyed it's this complicated so at them moment I have uninstalled everything and boxed up the printer.
Please help, I'd actually like to get it working.

You might want to check with Samsung support to verify if your model will work at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme.  If it does, then you will be able to print from your computer using the wireless connection.
There is a good chance that the printer will work because it does appear on Apple's list of compatible models:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP
Important Note......If your printer is an All-in-One type device, only the print function will work when the printer is connected to the AriPort Extreme.  Copy, Scan, Maintenance, etc will not be supported.  You will need to connect the All-in-One directly to your computer for those features to be available.
If you are asking about printing from an iPad, even if your printer is supported, you will likely not be able to print from the iPad unless you install an App like Print Central on the iPad.

  • C4780 Wireless setup on MacBook Air

    Hi
I recently upgraded to a MacBook Air (running Mountain Lion) and I have changed my internet provider. This means that when I try and use my printer wirelessly, I have no way of setting up the WiFi as my laptop does not have a C.D drive and so I cannot use the original installation C.D.
Whenever I try and use the WPS push button setup, the printer tells me there is a WPS error every time and so I cannot connect that way either.
Is there anything I can do?

Does your router have WPS?  That is the easiest way.  Start WPS on the pirnter, then within 2 minutes start WPS on the router.
If not, this procedure is clunky, but works:
    1. On the front of the printer: Start [Scan] > Wireless > Restore Defaults.
    2. On your Mac look for a wireless network named 'hpsetup'.  Connect to it.
    3. Back on the printer in the wireless menu, print a Wireless Network Test.
    4. Type the printer's IP address into Safari.
    5. On the printer's internal settings page in Safari, click on the Network tab and run the Wireless Setup Wizard.
    6. Connect your Mac back to your main wireless network.
    7. Add the printer normally in System Prefs > Print & Scan.

  • Cm1415fnw wireless setup on windows 7 32bit

My new cm1415fnw laserjet pro works great on the wired network, but I am having problems setting it up on the wireless network.
from the front panel, when i activate the wireless setup wizard, the front panel says "retrieveing wireless network information", then after a few seconds, the screen goes blank and the printer initializes. If I try again, the same thing happens.
I have updated the firmware to 20111215 and i have disconnected the wired ethernet before activating the wireless wizzard.
I have also tried to do a wireless setup from a workstation by temporarily plugging in a usb cable to the printer and running the software to setup the wireless. the software starts up and I get about 40% into the progress bar and the printer continuously initializes as above until i click the cancel button on the workstation.
neither method produces an error message.
I have 4 accessible networks in the area, one being open and three being secured.
I can see the 4 networks clearly on a laptop and i can get to the unsecured network from the laptop, although it brings me to a signon screen requiring that i enter my email address, acknowledge reading the acceptible use policy and click the login button before i can get to a specific web site.
any ideas on what i can do to get out of this loop with the printer going through initializations?.

    Hi kiki,
Do you have a phone cable plugged into the printer?
When you run the wireless setup wizard you indicate that it keeps going into initializing mode correct?
Have you tried the printer on a different network like your friends or relatives network?

  • Printer does accept the WEP key. any Solution, c309g wireless setup

    Hi,
    i have a Photosmart c309 g printer.
I have been on phone with the tech for almost 8 hrs but with no solution. The end result being, they suggested to replace the printer.
when i and also with assistance with the technician, ran the Wireless setup wizard,  my network is detected. when i hit ok on it, it prompts for WEP. Then i enter it, it displays connecting and then displays "ERROR " "Invalid WEP".
Below are the other few steps i tried......... >
a> the printer was RESET , i guess it was SemiFull Reset . Then we tried running the wireless setup wizard, and it ended up with the same error  "ERROR " "Invalid WEP".
b> we installed through USB to have it in wireless .... the same issue.
c> the tech asked me have the WEP key changed. I called my Router mfd and got the WEP key changed to only Numbers ( earlier it was alphanumeric ) , we then tried running the wireless setup wizard .. we got the same error message.
d> We also tried Manually adding the IP, subnet mask and default gateway .... but the ping does not work. It says 100% loss.
The tech concluded that it could be a problem with the printer wireless circuit . hence advised to replace the printer.
I am returning the printer to the stores in a day or 2days. Let me know if "returning the printer " is the right thing to do or is there anyone over here who could suggest me steps to resolve it.
    Thanks !!!!!!!!

Let's try an experiment.  Since I'm not sure of your exact configuration, I'd like  you to try some one of the following:
If your Linksys wireless-router is also your ADSL modem -- disconnect the telephone line from the Linksys wireless-router and then power cycle the Linksys (unplug power, wait 30 seconds, plug power back in).  Leave the telephone line unplugged.
    -- or --
If your ADSL modem is separate from your Linksys wireless-router, disconnect the LAN cable between the ADSL modem and the Linksys wireless-router and then power cycle the Linksys (unplug power, wait 30 seconds, plug power back in).  Leave the LAN cable disconnected.
Power cycle the printer.  Wait 60 seconds for the wireless-router to power up completely and then run the C309g Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer's front panel (Setup -> Network -> Wireless Setup Wizard).
If the printer connected successfully, then there is one more change we need to make and that is to set a static IP address for the printer.
Open the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address.  Select Networking and then Wireless (802.11).  Under the IPv4 Configuration tab, select Manual IP:
For Manual IP Address, use the existing printer IP address plus an offset.  For example, if the printer's IP address is currently 192.168.0.5, then use 192.168.0.30.
For Manual Subnet Mask, use 255.255.255.0
For Manual Default Gateway, leave blank.  This is important.
    Select Manual DNS Server:
Leave both the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields empty.  This is important.
    Press Apply.
Turn off the wireless-router and reconnect the cable (telephone or LAN).  Now turn off  the printer and all computers connected to your network.  Wait 60 seconds then turn on the wireless-router and then turn on the printer.  Then turn on the computers.
Finish up by installing the SW on the computers you want to print from.  One more suggestion -- do not install the HP Customer Participation Program.
