T430s Weak battery life?

Hey everyone,
I opened my new Thinkpad T430s back on January 4th, and have done research/made numerous attempts at trying to maximize my battery life, but still I can only manage barely 2.5 hours on very, very conservative settings. Is that... normal? I sure would hope not. My specs are as follows:
OS: Windows 8 64
320 GB HDD
1440x900 HD+ Screen
Intel Core i5 3320M
Nvidia NVS (optimus?) 5200m Graphics (1 GB video ram)
Intel HD integrated graphics 4000
Machine Model 2352CTO
Do I have a defective battery, or is it more plausible that my computer itself is faulty? My battery is a Sanyo FRU 45N1037. I'll admit I haven't set my bios to "integrated graphics only" because a.) I don't know how, and don't want to subsequently screw up my computer, and b.) I thought I saw that in Windows 8, that is done for you automatically. Could of sworn I saw that option when scrolling through some system settings a while back.
Clearly though, with only 2.5 of battery life MAXIMUM, with a 6-cell battery, on ultra-conservative settings, battery stretch enabled, etc., something must be defective, such as the battery. Right?

this could be the case if you are running in windows 8 with nvidia optimus working.
Go to the T430s bios and under graphics switch to intel integrated GPU and see what happens.
In Win 8, my T430s with i7 + integrated GPU was getting only around 2.5 hours of battery too, which is very short.

Weak Battery life iphone4 2013

My iphone4 was purchased in Oct 2012. Initially the battery would last all day. Over time is has gotten noticeably weaker. I close out programs frequently. I leave wifi off when I know I won't need it. I've disabled location services on programs that don't need it. I have friends with the same phone that have no problem with their phone staying charged all day. I don't use it excessively for anything. May Check emails 2-3 times a day. I do text frequently, but don't do any more than other people that are NOT having this problem. Any suggestions??

I know this is an old post but I'm curious, did the problem ever get any better? I got a 9300 2weeks ago, had all sorts of issues with it but got a new device under warranty. I thought the battery problem was with the 1st device I got but this 1 lasts a day no matter what I do. When I'm really busy on it, 2hours is more than enough. Is this normal?

T430s Windows 8 battery life

I have new Lenovo laptop, type T430s (2353-2QV). I was realized to try Windows 8 and reinstalled it using lenovo w8 drivers. But something is wrong with battery life. It is very weak. I was hope that I can use my laptop on battery more than 4 hours, but depens on usage, I can use it maximum for about 3 hours. And that is not right, from my point of view. I do not have informatiom how much time is battery life on W7, but I think it is much better.
Please, can anybody tell me if it is right or not and what I can do with it? I welcome the response not only from users with same type of laptop.

I have the six cell battery. After one week of using my laptop on W8 I have to say that normally I can work about 3 hours on battery, which is weak for this professional laptop.

New Thinkpad T430 - slow performance, poor battery life

Hi Guys,
I bought a T430 a couple of three months ago, to replace an older HP elitebook. I have really not made the transition yet because the new T430 is very much slower and the battery life worse than the elitebook, which is certainly 7 years old.
The speed issue is such that operations are very slow. The machine boots up or comes out of sleep/hibernate without any real issues, but try to open a program (excel, for instance) and it takes ages. One thing I do have on the system is an excel file which I update every few days. Generally speaking, it takes 30 seconds to get the machine to the desktop, then I can go to the bathroom whilst waiting for excel to actually start after I have double clicked the file (it rarely opens in less than a minute). I did have avast AV and I guessed it might have been the problem (it has pop-ups all over the show), so I installed it but things are no different. The problem occurs all the time, a restart doesn't suddenly give me a silky fast moving machine. This has pretty much been the case since I first started the machine.
The second issue is the battery. I changed the elitebook batter after about 5 years because it was strugging to do 2 hours. The replacement comfortably did (does) 4 hours, even after a couple of years. The new T430 barely manages 2 hours, I cannot go anywhere without a charger!
Any suggestions on what to do? The machine was bought because it has the Lenovo onsite support so the next step is going to be calling them because the operation is simply too poor for me to put the machine into use.

Yes I have.
Just web browsing and basically doing nothing I'm hear a lot of aduible fans, I'm getting 85C+ on GPU diode, 65+ on cpu heatsink. I since installed anohter program that shows me not just the CPU heatsink but the cores and the cores are at 90C+.
Seems like a lot of heat for doing nothing. Not only that but I have these problems with no external monitor while on battery power too.
I don't know what to do. They already replaced the logic board. Others seem to get advertised battery life out of Apple products and not have products that get **** near hot enough to burn you while just web browsing or watching a movie let alone advertised tasks like Photoshop and Final Cut Pro.

The battery life of my iPhone 3G doesn't allow me to get it work for a all business day (it's work just about 8 hours).
I read a lot of post about this problem and have few comments about them:
- some tells it's push which drain the battery: I didn't notice the same on Iphone V1 even when push is on...
Note: Even if push is a problem for battery life, i don't understand why? Balckberry have push mail, calendard, contact and are working all the day...
- some tells it's 3G; but i have a similar issue about battery life even when i turn 3G off...
Note: A lot of newspaper talked about the Iphone 3G autonomy and tell that battery life of iPhone 3g is better than other 3G device...
In my point of view there is a really big issue concerning the battery; I can't keep a phone which switch off during my day...

It would be pointless buying the iPhone 3G with all these features switched off.
But if some are having these issues until there is a fix then it's probably good advice.
However mine seems OK with all these features switched on.
I top up mine each evening and keeps me going on a day to day basis.

Question about full cycle charges and battery life

So I've had the new iPad since day 1 and absolutely love it, though recently I've noticed that my battery life doesn't seem to hold up as well as it has in the past. I've done three full cycle charges since getting it however during my latest one I accidently brought along my iPod wall charger and not the one that comes with the iPad. My iPad was fully discharged and I plugged it in assuming that in the 7 hour window I had that it would be fully charged within 5 hours, but this was not the case due to me having the wrong charger. After about 7 hrs of charging it was only at around 60-70% so I had to unplug it, bring it home, then plug it in once more using the correct charger. Probably a fairly obvious question but does this not count as a full cycle charge because I unplugged it? Should I perform another full cycle charge even though this most recent one was not even a week ago. I know you're supposed to completely discharge your battery as few times as possible so it worries me having to do it again so soon.
About battery life, I've noticed lately that my iPad battery seems to be depleting quicker than normal, and was hoping that perhaps this was caused by being overdue for a full-cycle charge which I may have flubbed as seen above. I'm aware of a majority of the little tips and tricks to prolong battery life however I'm not so knowledgeable on the "do's and don'ts" of charging the actual iPad so any information on that would be helpful. I should also note that unfortunately I accidently left by iPad in a hot car for a little over an hour and was tremendously devastated knowing what this can do to the battery, so could this be the main cause for a seemingly weaker battery?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

After 4.2.1 Dropped/Choppy calls and poor signal / Gets hot / Battery Life is bad when talking

What is this APPLE? I can see the Iphone 3G is old and no more support but atleast make a working OS and then go out on a high note. Instead of leaving us hanging with a broken phone. Not just me , scores of others have these very same symptoms. Also I wish there was a way to go back to an older OS , one that worked %100 for my phone.

BS! It was night and day when I downloaded/installed 4.2.1. This is NOT my Phone and IS the firmware. And my friend that is a phone nut said he didn't download 4.2.1 because of all the problems he was hearing about it, I should have done research. He said the biggest hit was the 3G and he can't belive I installed it.
APPLE DO YOUR JOB AND FIX THIS. MAKE 4.2.2 ATLEAST AND FIX THESE PROBLEMS!! IF NOT THEN WE MUST PART WAYS.

Did the new device and didn't do a restore from backup. Grabbed all my contacts from windows contacts saved list. So only thing the same on the phone was the same 4.2.1 that stays in there. Still bad signal and battery life, although the battery problem might be the age of the battery since its the same battery that came with the 3G.

In my house im getting any were from -100dBm to -117dBm ( 1 to 2 bars with 3G)
Outside Im getting -85dBm and up. (2 to 4 bars with 3G)
I have to do more testing to get solid numbers though. I got almost full bars all the time if I switched to EDGE.
(4 to 5 all the time with EDGE). That makes me think that with the problem in 3G , it's the OS. Since ALOT of people saying that there 3G drops or is bad since 4.2.1.
Now I looked around and I playied with all my settings to insure that my battery should not drain thru improper settings. So I think given this is the original battery , it might be a good time to try and install a new one from here for $17.

Iv'e opened Iphones before (fixed my friends 3G) after he dropped his and the vibrate/silent button's screw came loose and he could not change it off silent mode and replaced a battery in my other friends 3Gs. SO i feel comfortable in there.
I dont know if the bad battery could be reducing my signal.Ill try the battery cause it's only $17 (Cheap investment) and because my battery life under a load drains it fast. Again I don't know if it's the OS or the age of it.
I was thinking maybe a poor contact/condition of my SIM card could be another possibility. I wonder if and how much a new SIM card from a AT&T provider is. I heard people saying you can get a new one but Ill have to ask my local AT&T dealer.
Although this seemed so odd how it all happened the same night till now RIGHT after the 4.2.1 OS install and all the others people saying the same symptoms.
Ill keep working with it and give you (and others users here) updates in my progress for the people who are in the same "boat" as me.
By the way I haven't tried to make Itunes re download the OS by deleting the file in the directory you gave me above. Ill try that as soon as I post this message.
Also Iv'e noticed that theres a way to download a older version of Firmware OS and put it in a certain directory and use the DFU mode (Deep Firmware Upgrade) on the Iphone to force the Iphone to re install the current version or an older version ( whatever version you download) of firmware. Now Im very worried that this might mess my Iphone up to were it wont even work so I really dont want to try this right now or until I exhaust all my other options. I have to do more research of this method.

T500 Battery Life post Windows 7 Upgrade

Have a 6 month old T500 which I love. Always had good battery life (can't remember the duration, but never had an issue with battery life).
Earlier this week, I did the Windows 7 Upgrade (machine originally came with Windows Vista OS). After doing the upgrade, I've noticed a substantial decrease in battery life (now lasts for about 2 hours max).
Have reinstalled ThinkVantage Power Manager and Toolbox applications, but that hasn't helped. Also did power meter reset, but that doesn't seemed to have helped.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions out there?

HT201401 My iphone 5 always shuts down between 20-10% battery life...It drives me crazy

My Iphone 5 always shuts down between 10-20% battery life...

In response to the other posts, I have not had any issue with the battery until the update to IOS7 and I have been using the phone for over a year. I am not suprised that the store would say the battery was bad, the phone thinks it is and shuts down. I do not know what plugging it in does for the phone, but after I plugged it in for just a few minutes it lasted for several hours. it was not that the battery was dead, but how the camera works with the system on IOS7. I do not know if taking a picture and saving it while using the flash cause a large draw etc, but whatever it is the system then thinks the battery is dead when it isnt. The hard part is once you apply power it will go away and there is no way to verify the issue. Even if it is weaker battery it should not just shut off with 20% power and then not work until power is applied. The battery is not dead as it has worked for several hours afterward. I have not used the camera in those cases for fear of losing my phone until I could get to a power cord. I am not aware of it happening twice in a row, but I will test it next time I am near a power cord after it dies. I would also concur, that this is a quick failure for the battery also as the phone is just over a year old.

2.1 Update - Worse battery life?

So, I updated to 2.1 Friday, and noticed my iPhone getting warm, and the battery was draining really fast. Over the weekend I tried re-restoring it, and still had it drain really fast. Today, I went in an swapped out the phone, and got back to the office and updated to 2.1 again. Almost the same thing, except within a span of maybe 2 hours, I was down to half battery. I used to go almost 2 days without a charge before, and it was never noticeably warm. What's the deal? Any way to downgrade to 2.0.1 or whatever?

I don't think any of the issues have to do much with build week other than actual defective units. Unlike regular cell phones, iPhones can host so many different applications combinations that it's likely those combinations (and especially how they've been installed can lead to problems). Apple for that reason has tried to keep each application in it's own silo. In the end you can't completey really because the main OS still need to know the software is there.
Anyhow, as for battery issues, software definitely can improve battery life. Not only can you make code more efficient and hence take less clock cycles, on a phone you can tune how the phone communicates with the network. This last part is probably where they potentially squeezed more power for some users by allowing the phone to make a connection with a weaker signal. Depending on where people are and how they use their phone, some of the battery tweaks may do nothing. Personally I think for most users the changes have not done all that much. My battery life seems about the same.

Help with Battery Life Droid Razr M KitKat update jacked up my phone like everyone elses'...

So as with everyone else KitKat has screwed my phone up and I am very annoyed... Disregarding the fact that I had to download a different keyboard because they removed Swype and screwed up the dialer and the colors of our texts, erased the calendar which thank God I didn't use because a friend who did had all her appointments removed it totally jacked up my battery life. Yesterday I literally had a full charge at about 9:30am and by 11:30 it was down to about 30%. I had not used it much at all and it was connected to my bluetooth in my car. The phone also gets hot for no reason when not charging or being used. All of a sudden my leg will get warm and I realize it's because the phone in my pocket is extremely hot... Probably not safe. When I look it says that the screen was draining 46% of my battery life yet the screen is set to auto as recommended in other posts I have seen from customer service. We need a fix for this KitKat or a way to revert to Jellybean... I can't keep my phone charging constantly and I need it as I am a social worker and am in the field often. I need my phone for safety purposes as well as convenience. Sigh... Verizon Wireless Customer Support HELP! I can't CONSTANTLY charge my phone in order to be able to use it! So annoying!

P.S. None of this was an issue prior to KitKat being downloaded to the phone.

After installing the update, did you perform a Factory Data Reset on your phone?
You might want to consider backing up your important photos, music, videos, other downloaded content. Write down critical things like your email settings. Jot down important contacts, and any calendar events. Diagram where you've located certain icons.
Then perform the FDR.
Allow three charge cycles for the phone to model battery consumption.
Other things you can do, YMMV:
Go to Settings | Tethering and networks | Mobile Networks | System Select | Network Mode | LTE/CDMA (change it from Global).
Instead of screen brightness automatic, choose something like 40-50%.
For email synching / polling, choose a polling interval of 15 or 30minutes (maybe not as often).
Go to Settings | WiFi then press the Menu button. Choose Advanced. Make sure "Battery saving for Wi-Fi" is enabled. Deselect Scanning always available, and Deselect Wif-Fi signal weak.
Now do the following: Go to Settings | Mobile Data. Press the Menu Button. Select Show Wi-Fi usage.
Power cycle your phone.
Now you can go to Settings | Mobile Data and choose Mobile or Wi-Fi tabs and see what applications are using the corresponding radios. That and using the Settings | Battery | Select the battery, then scroll down... The three of these should show you want is consuming the battery and the radios... thus heating up your device and lowering your battery runtime.

Ideapad s10e battery life...

I've started having problems with the battery life on my s10e. The battery won't hold a charge for me than about 10 minutes, I've had the machine under a year.
I couldn't find a support / warrenty email to send a request for a new battery too so I thought I'd see if anyone here can suggest something for me.
