T500 sound crackling and touchpad problem

Yeah so like the title says: when listening to music/watching a movie, the sound keeps on "crackling", sometimes more, sometimes less. If you know the facebook chat "pop", it sounds a bit similar but not nearly as strong. I don't know if theres a certain pattern to it, I don't think so. It just crackles every now and then, its a bit annoying. Could it be a soundcard problem?
The other problem is the touchpad: the left button also makes a crackling sound, it has since the first day of using the laptop. I never use the touchpad, but when I do and click on the left button it "crackles", like it would have something sticky under the button / crumbs in between. I have checked that there isn't anything under the buttons. Does warranty give new touchpads? This is FAIRLY annoying!

When I plug my 5th gen iPod touch into speakers or headphones the sound quality is awful and it is crackles and there is lots of "noise". There must be something wrong with How can I fix this?

    Do headphones sound OK?
Assuming the speaker sound OK when connected to another device:
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or other hardware problem?.

The MSI MEGA STICK do not work with the MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR.
When you plug it, its recognized, you can write on the MEGA STICK, delete files but cannot READ from MEGA STICK. It freezes while display "reading". I have tried on lots of PCs. Only my MSI motherboard do not work properly. The same problem with my 2 MEGA STICK. And i had tried Windows XP and Linux. Same problem. Others USB devices works fine. Even card readers...

My optical wireless mouse do not works properly. When i turns on the computer, it works ok. If i restart, do not work. Restart again, works. And go on... Only this mouse. Others MB works fine.
    ==Sound Output==
And also with my sound output. The eletrical one (coaxial).
It do not work with my 5.1 home system. It works fine with my old SB Live. It gets worse when i use my tv output from my Radeon 9100. It only works SOMETIMES when the tv output is not plugged in.
Thanks to all that could help me.

    Mega stick.
have you updated the firmware ?
No. It Freezes before being able to update. Also the update do not tell about solving this problem
    "Firmware version: 2.05
    Update items
    1. Improve delete MP3 and voice files function.
    2. Fix device will restart while forward/backward Voice file."
you do know that windows xp does not come with usb2 drivers.
sp1 does and you have to install them yourself.
go to device manager and delete all usb entries and reboot and windows will install the usb2 drivers next time you boot.
if you get a slipstreamed version of xp you dont need to do this as it installed usb2 drivers rightaway.
slipstream means a xp disc with sp1 on it.
My XP cd is already SP1. Also tried on BIOS to use only USB 1.1V
    PS2.
tried to use the other ps2 contact ?

  • Crackle and pop problem

My earliest-model Mini now makes really loud popping and crackling noises, then very distorted sound. I've got it plugged into the charger (another annoyance is the battery doesn't charge fully anymore, but I'm thinking that's not related- trying to solve one problem at a time).

I have been having the same crackle problem with a refurbished mini. Has anyone found a fix or must it be sent in?

  • Crashes, sound loss, and other problems

    Hello,
I have been having some serious problems over the past several months. In the past it was fairly manageable, but recently things have been getting worse.
I have a 12-inch PowerBook G4, I bought it at the McGill bookstore in October 2004. The first problem was the apparently random crashes that Mac OS X (v.10.4.8) would experience from time to time. It was fairly infrequent at first so it didn't bother me too much (and I thought it was just some sort of glitch). But it persisted and came to be expected.
What would happen is that my screen would darken and center box would appear telling me, "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button." (it would display this message in English, French, German, and Japanese for my convenience). After I restart the computer I get the message, "The computer was restarted after Mac OS X quit unexpectedly". At first it seemed to be linked to time; after a while it would just crash, sometimes after an hour or so, sometimes after as little as five minutes. (I fear as I write this that I will have to start over). More recently I've come to associate the crashes with movement of the computer; perhaps the battery (which is pretty much dead after so much use) is affecting the performance, I don't know.
The next problem, which coincided with the crashes, was my clock being reset. I assumed this was directly associated with the spontaneous shutdown of the computer, yet though the crashes continued, the clock was not always reset (just about a third of the time). This was a pretty frustrating inconvenience given the frequency of the crashes at the beginning.
The major problem that prompted me to take action was the lose of sound. One day, about a month ago now, my sound suddenly stopped working. At first I thought it was a hardware problem, but then I noticed the sound was still working with some things and just not others. For example, the sound increase/decrease indicator (the 'pop' sound when turning up or down the sound) stopped working, yet the startup sound still worked. I've found that Realplayer, MPlayer X 2, and Windows Media Player work fine but iTunes, VLC, and Quicktime don't. Most of the applications simply don't make sound but when I try to video in VLC I get the following error: "auhal: we cannot find our HAL component" or "auhal: audio-device var does not exist. device probe failed."
Other minor errors I have come across include inability to detect the Airport card (remedied upon restarting the computer) and occasional seizing up of the keyboard (the letter keys, exclusively, were unresponsive for sometime before working again suddenly without need of restart).
I've run diagnostic tools such as Disk Utility and the 'fsck' command in single-user mode, but nothing has been detected. It consistently comes up saying that everything is alright.
I have backed-up all important files and programs (with the exception of my Firefox bookmarks, do you know how I can save those?) and am prepared to do whatever it takes to bring my computer back to working order. I need my computer for schoolwork and assignments so if I can fix it myself in anyway... I would prefer to avoid lengthly repairs if possible.
Please let me know what my options are, and/or possible things I can do to repair these problems. This whole affair is, unsurprisingly, driving me crazy.
One last thing, upon launching Microsoft Word, I get the following pop-up:
    Application Launch Failure
The application "Word" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "3<Microsoft Word><Microsoft Word><MicrosoftLSLibZ>"
I do not know whether this is linked to my other problems or not. This too, is something that has recently come up and is significantly affecting my work (I have had to switch to writing my essays on TextEdit).
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Eric Oosenbrug

try shutting down, remove the battery, carefully pull out AirPort card and reinstall it.
maybe run hardware test included with CD kit

  • T500 TurboMemory , Volume and RAM problems

Recently I found some problems with my T500.
1.Everytime when I restart the computer , the harddisk led will keep illuminating for about 5~7minutes. I checked "TaskManager -Resource Monitor -Disk"   found "\Device\HarddiskVolume1\ReadyBoost.sfcache" was writing in high speed.  Is it normal?
2.Everytime when I restart the computer, the volume was set to  50db, whatever I set before the restart, it will go back to 50, even set to mute.... Why?
3.I updated the RAM to 3G(1 2G single and 1 1G singal), from my computer I can see it says 3G memory, But in TaskManager only 2.5G can be used.  32bit Vista-B ATI 3650 graphic card.....why?

I dont know about the 2nd problem you have mentioned here but as for the first one I guess that's a little bit unsual. It shouldn't be busy more than 2-3 mins unless you have lots of programms to load.
As for the last problem you should be able to see 3GB installed I guess but I am not sure if you can use it since you have vista 32. I know that you definately will have problems with 4GB but not sure about 3GB.

  • (s300) Keyboard and touchpad problem after upgrading to win 8.1

    Hi,
I just upgraded to win 8.1 (from win 8) and I have to problems that are pretty annoying.
The first problem is with the keyboard (I think it has something to do with keyboard layout):
When I type quote mark ( " or ' ) it doesn't display it. Only when I press another key it shows.
The second problem is with the thouchpad. Before I upgraded I could "click the right mouse key" by touching the touchpad with two fingers. After the upgrade it doesn't work anymore. I tried to download the newest driver from the drivers page, but it didn't fix it.
    Is there any solution?
    Thanks!

  • Sound crackling while recording (X-FI TITANIUM)

Hi. I previously posted a problem with sound recording with the X-Fi Titanium (PCI, non-Fatalty)? on this forum. I thought the problem was fixed, but in reality it was just not noticeable. Now that I am trying to record in-game footage, it's nearly unbearable. Every few seconds, a crackle or pop sound of varying volume and length comes into the recording. There's no problem with the output of the card whatsoever; in fact, when I'm recording the in-game audio, I don't hear a thing as it occurs. It's only during playback that this happens. What could be causing this problem? I'm up to date on all drivers, I think (6.0..347, according to my Control Panel)
I'm running Windows XP 32-bit on a P5E motherboard with an X38 chipset, an Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 at 2.67 GHz with 2 GB of ram, and an nVidia 250 GTS. I am not overclocking, and I am running on default fan speeds. I've heard of crackling and popping problems on 64-bit operating systems, but never on 32. I've run out of things to try, so I am now turning to the community to help. Any suggestions?
EDIT: I just remembered that I have an onboard soundcard on my motherboard that was deactivated when I installed the new one into my computer. Could that be causing the problem?
EDIT 2: I wanted to clarify one thing. The crackling sound is loud, but it lasts from a second to three seconds then goes away for fi've seconds or so, and then comes back. It isn't constant or muted - it even goes louder than the volume by which I'm currently recording. I've never read about this problem, and every other topic seems to refer to a constant crackling.
EDIT 3: I used Audacity to record an example of the problem I'm getting. I don't hear any of this when I play the song; only when I listen to it back. It's the Prelude from the Final Fantasy series (pardon the nerdiness). It skips to halfway through about fi've seconds in to get to a louder part, to better demonstrate the problem. And no, you aren't getting Skype messages, I was just receiving them while recording "What U Hear" with Audacity. I hope this hel
    ps.

  • K7n2delta-L sound crackle problem

hi. I experience sound crackling with the MSI K7n2 delta-L board. It happens when for example, im in the middle of a conversation in NetMeeting, and i hear a sound alert in YM, the sound crackles then in the conversation after that. I also hear sound crackling in the game Syberia 2. I wonder where the problem lies, in the hardware or the driver. I've installed the latest nforce drivers from the nvidia site. Here are the specs of my computer:
    Amd Athlon 2500
    512mb DDR
    MSI K7n2 delta-L board
    Geforce 3 ti200
PS. I also have an old Sound Blaster Live card installed in the PCI slot. But i just use it for it's game port purposes because the MSI board doesn't have one.

thanks man. i downloaded the realtek sound drivers and problem went away. The spec for the K7n2delta-L was really misleading because when you look at the product page, it says that the only difference between the two products was the raid on the lan and the firewire ports. it never said anything on omitting the sound storm audio on the L version. So I suppose that was the problem cause i was using the nvidia drivers all the time on realtek sound.
    Thanks again.

  • Static, Crackles, and Pop Sounds

I have a Sound Blaster PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card?(.04.0000 Drivers) and it makes crackles and pop sounds when:
    - I'm watching a video online in fullscreen (for example: Youtube, Gamespot, IGN)
    - When I'm watching any video in fullscreen on Windows Media Player
    - When playing a certain DVD or CD rom (for example, a movie or a music cd) the sound will go all static
    - The sound will also crackle and pop in other programs when a movie or music DVD/CD is in my dri've, but not in use
    - Certain games are unplayable because of all the static sound (for example: Starcraft)
    - When I play?Street Fighter IV and Battlefield Heroes, I don't experience crackling or popping, but rather?poor sound quality (it's like sound coming from very bad?speakers with no bass).
    My specs are:
    Windows XP Professional SP3
    Intel Core i7 @ 2.67Ghz
    3 GB DDR3 Ram
HIS Radeon HD 4870 52 MB
    Asus P6T Delxue Motherboard
I have disabled EAX Effects, X-Fi CMSS-3D, and X-Fi Crystalizer in the Creative Console. The sound card is currently in my PCIe x6 slot. I have tried putting it in my PCIe x4 Slot, but I get the same problems. Also, when I plug in my mic, it does not work! Why is that? and how can I get rid of these crackles, pops, and static noises?

Turns out I'm not very familiar with the Xtreme Audio cards which I'm pretty sure don't have an X-Fi chip, just some X-Fi algorithms in software. I'm not sure how much help I can provide. Have you tried CL Support?
What are you using for speakers?
If you get complete static, that could be attempting to send an encoded track like Dolby Digital, DTS, DTS CD Audio, to analog speakers. That would be a matter of making sure the player software settings are correct.

  • Found a Solution to crackling and popping on XFI Sound ca

I have tried many solution attempts found on this forum and nothing seemed to work. I have updated all of the drivers. I have reinstalled several times along with reboots and after all this I just decided to try on last thing and here it is and it worked for me.
Well after testing this I have found that setting the sample format rate and bit depth to be use in shared mode to 24 bit, 96000Hz (Studio Quality) That the crackling and popping has gone away. I have tested this in a game called Jericho that did it all the time and the game runs smooth and the audio is crisp and clear. I also had problem playing any audio and moving the mouse over icons and the sound would have serious crackling. This has also gone away. The sound in general is a lot better then before. It is crisp and clear. I highly suggest that you check the settings. Go to Control Panel then Sound . Right click on speakers and select Properties . Click on Advanced and in the Default Format change this to 24 bit, 96000 Hz (Studio Quality). This should get rid of all of the crackling and popping. This has worked for me. I have hooked up my speakers direct not by fiber optic. I am guessing that if one used fiber optic then you might be able to use 24 bit, 92000 Hz (Studio Quality) . But I would definitely try adjusting the settings here to try and fix the problem. I have gone back and forth on these settings and it is only clear on 24 bit, 96000 Hz (Studio Quality) . Thanks to you all on this forum for you help in this matter I know this is only my third post but I have been reading this forum for solutions for a week now and have found a solution that worked for me that I have not read yet. I hope this helps everyone or at least some. Godspeed.

Here are more of my findings after some more testing. I know that I have found the XFI card to work on my vista machine at 24 bit 96000 Hz, but here is something that tells me there is definitely something wrong with these new drivers for XFI cards. Today I wanted to try going back to the HD audio card that came with my Asus Crosshair motherboard. It has an HD Supreme FX PCI Express card. I am assuming this is equivalent to the Creative Audigy 2 ZS card that I also have. I would assume that the XFI card is a step above the HD Supreme FX card that comes with the motherboard. So here are my findings. After installing the card and the Vista drivers for the HD Supreme FX card I ran into zero problems. I switched the settings to 24 Bit 92000 Hz, this is the setting I wanted to use for the XFI card and it would crackle and pop. The funny thing is the Audigy 2 ZS card that I have had absolutely no problem in running 24 Bit 92000 Hz in Windows XP. So you can not tell me that the XFI Card is incapable of running 24 Bit 92000 Hz. There is no way that you would downgrade the better card of the two. I also know from other users that the XFI card has no problem running 24 Bit 92000 Hz in Windows XP. This is a Vista issue that is narrowed down to the drivers. Therefore the drivers need to be reprogrammed. How is it that, Asus can have a card designed or design an audio card along with drivers that work flawlessly in Vista and am audio component manufacturer like Creative just can not seem to get it right Any answers Creative I still had problems with the audio in the Game Jericho with the XFI card but no problems occurred with the HD Supreme FX card that came with the Crosshair board. So I know it is not a problem with the game. The problem lies in the drivers with the XFI card. The problem that I was having incase you all are curious is. In the game you get to a point where you are able to switch between characters. The crackle would occur when jumping into the character Delgado. The audio would crackle and pop. So I would jump out and into another character and the sound would still crackle and pop until you took the first step and then it would go away. It did not matter which character you would jump into from Delgado. The only sound issues where with Delgado. I thought it was in the game after I assumed I had found a fix. But I was wrong because I had absolutely no issues on any character or at any point in the game with the Supreme FX card. I only had these issues with the XFI Card. The funny thing is the game recommends the XFI card.

  • Laptop M500 - ST6422 - Crackling and popping sound. How to resolve it?

    Hello
I own a toshiba M500 - ST6422 and from the beginning a had sound issues when i listened to music or watched movies.
I saw that a new bios version (2.50) was released to resolve this issue and I installed it but my problem is still there. I still have crackling and popping sound when i listed to music and watch music. It appears at random. I trie dto catch if the CPU reached 100% but it didn't.
    How can this be resolved?
I  still have warrancy until december, if i take it to there, can they resolve something?
What is the problem? Driver/ sound card/ other?
I really need ansers on how to resolve this issue, untill my warrancy ends.
    Thank you in advance

so, i went with it at a service who handle toshiba warrancies too. They tested the hardware and said everything is ok, must be a software problem.
So i did what you asked, installed it out of the box, and it doesn't give me the same bad problems, but they still occure but seldom than before.
So it must be a software problem indeed, which toshiba didnt resolve with the new bios version 2.50.
Anyway, the problem is another one. I used to install windows in a custom way on 50 GB so I could use the best of the rest of GB for other partitiions. Now, with out of the box installationg, i cannot shrink too much of C partition (the one with windows), it doesn;t let me , so i am stuck with 119GB on C. Isn't there anything to be able to take like 60GB from C to another partition. I tried to defragment with it was 0 result.
    Thanks
I am also waititng for other advices to be able to resolve the software problem with audio.
