Table of Tables (multiple TOC)

Hi there,
I'm a 1L law student, working on outlining my cases for finals and... first of all... I love Pages. The Harvard list style is a thousand times better than Word's. But I'm preaching to the choir in this forum, I suspect.
My question is about tables (not graphic tables; style-based TOC tables). I have a table of contents going along fine, but I'd like to add a table of cases, and a table of statutes, which I have defined as a certain style throughout my document. In essence, I want to create a separate table of contents, based on certain styles, but Pages only seems to let me create one table of contents.
I hate to say it, but Word allows you to insert Tables of whatever style you opt-in to. Seems simple enough... Is there a way to do this that I'm overlooking? I tried re-inserting another TOC, and selecting the style I wanted, but that seems to affect the other TOC as well!
Does anyone know of a way to create a separate table from a specific style?
Many thanks,

Hello Belkin,
what exquemelin wanted to achieve is one TOC with the chapters and sections in it, another TOC with cases in it and a third TOC with statutes in it. This are three different TOCs with different contents (like a TOC for figures and a TOC for charts, etc.).
Unfortunately you can only have one uninterrupted TOC in Pages. You can have a TOC with different content and with different styles/layout for the content, but only sorted from page one to the last page in one order.
I think it is not a good structure (and not a good overview) to have a mixed TOC with chapters, tables, charts and figures in it.
If I am on a wrong way, please discribe your way a bit more detailed for me, so I am able to understand it, because I'm not a native English speaker.

  • How do I create multiple TOC's (Tables of Contents) in one Pages document?

    I'd like to have multiple TOC's (Tables of Contents) in one document. This is useful for me because I'd like to have a TOC for the regular chapters, then a TOC for the procedures, then a TOC for the tables in the document (it's a tech manual that I am writing). How can I do this? Thanks for any help you can render, and have a nice day!

    Paragraph used.
    It has nothing to do if there is one main TOC or several smaller TOC to do.
    It isn't true that you can only have one TOC in a document. Use styles for your titles and headings. I do and it works fine without section breaks.
    You also need to tick which tile and heading you want in the TOCs in the Document Inspector > TOC
    Did that.
    Thanks to Yvan's quoting from the User Guide, I see where it says each TOC only indexes the material up until the next TOC. Since I had them follow each other, that is why they had no content.
    Still it defeats the objective of indexing different material throughout the document if all you get is what is between the TOCs.

  • Multiple TOCs Security Question

    Hello,
    Just getting started with RH7. I'm building a project with
    approx. 30 TOCs and will be limiting access to them for multiple
    user types for a software application. I had a question from the
    tech group and am wondering if someone can help. Forgive me if this
    seems like a 'duh' question... just not thinking about this
    straight. The tech guys are concerned that if we publish multiple
    TOCs that they then integrate into each of the user groups for the
    app, security from one group to another might be an issue. The
    system is educational and the concern is that students might be
    able to get their hands on the help files since they sit on the
    server. Again - new at this and want to know if anyone has
    encountered this or if there is something that I can tell them to
    help them wrap their minds around what is actually produced when
    webhelp is published so that they can build in the proper security.
    As a further note, each user group enters a password protected
    area.
    Thanks so much for not laughing and for helping!

    Hi PeggyUF and welcome to our community
    Wow, 30 TOCs? I'm unclear on exactly how you will be limiting
    access. Are you building 30 different versions of your help? That's
    the only way I can fathom using 30 different TOCs. You certainly
    can't do it by publishing a single WebHelp to a common area. You
    would need to generate WebHelp 30 different times to 30 different
    folders. Then publish each output folder to a corresponding server
    folder. Then restrict each user to only seeing their assigned
    folder.
    Hopefully that helps... Rick

    Currently studying for my CCIE and just started on EEM, have not done much scripting before so this is all good stuff to know.

    You can't do this with one policy.  However, you could accomplish this with a timer policy that will batch up the pending updates, though.  Something like this would work.
    event manager applet route-table-monitor event routing network 0.0.0.0/0 ge 1 action 0.5 set msg "Route changed: Type: $_routing_type, Network:  $_routing_network, Mask/Prefix: $_routing_mask, Protocol:  $_routing_protocol, GW: $_routing_lastgateway, Intf:  $_routing_lastinterface" action 0.6 syslog msg "$msg" action 1.0 handle-error type ignore action 2.0 context retrieve key RTRCTXT variable msgs action 3.0 if $_error ne FH_EOK action 4.0  set msgs "$msg\n" action 5.0 else action 6.0  append msgs "$msg\n" action 7.0 end action 8.0 handle-error type exit action 9.0 context save key RTRCTXT variable msgs!event manager applet route-table-batcher event timer watchdog time 60 action 1.0 handle-error type ignore action 2.0 context retrieve key RTRCTXT variable msgs action 3.0 if $_error eq FH_EOK action 4.0  info type routername action 5.0  mail server "10.*.*.*" to "roger.perkin@****" from "$_info_routername" subject "Routing Table Change" body "$msgs" action 6.0 end action 7.0 handle-error type exit

  • Problem: 1 physical table -- multiple logical table sources

    Hi,
    I'm quite new to BIEE and setting up my repository.
    So I have a question, if the following scenario is possible:
    Physical Layer: TABLE_A: COL_A, COL_B, COL_C
    TABLE_B: COL_D, COL_E, COL_F
    Join TABLE_A.COL_A = TABLE_B.COL_D
    In Business Model I have a Dimension Table with TABLE_A as datasource with fields DIM1 (COL_B).
    The Fact Table (MEASURE) would have twice TABLE_B as data source with different where-clauses on COL_F and logical table columns (ATT1 and ATT2) of value COL_E.
    So far I have created everything and the consistency check shows no errors or warnings, but I get an error in Answer: Incorrectly defined logical table source (for fact table MEASURE) does not contain mapping for [MEASURE.ATT1, MEASURE.ATT2], when I creating an report showing DIM1, ATT1, ATT2.
    Isn't it possible to have one physical column used as multiple data source?
    I know it 's working, when I create the physical table twice ... but maybe there's a solution for business model.
    Thanks
    chrissy

    Hi mengesh,
    that's what I also tried, but it's always returning me the same error.
    I know it would work, when I import the physical table twice or more, but that's not what I want to do, because at the end I have 10 or more fields based on this one physical table. There's one field indicating what value is contained in the record, this means:
    COL_F | COL_E
    1 | customer name
    2 | customer number
    3 | customer branche
    4 | salesman
    5 | date
    6 | report number
    etc.
    I don't think it's usefull to import the physical table as often as I need this field. So I want to divide it in business model.
    thanks

  • Left table data Right table multiple returns

    Hello all and thank you for taking the time to help.
    I have a left table and right table I am querying from 2 remote hosts. The information in the left table is unique and has everything I need except for 2 fields; the information in the right table can have multiple rows for the same identifier. I am trying to get the latest rows information on the right. This is a snapshot of the tables:
    Employee Table
      Emp_num       Emp_Name   Emp_Store     Emp_Category     Emp_Location
      W561789        Chris           R79                Sales     98-778-77
      W571779        Charles           R81                Sales     87-988-98
      W561874        Sam           R79                Management     76-977-97
    W561875        Tod           R79                Sales     98-778-77
    Customers Table
      Emp_num    Wait_Time  Shipment_Status      Shipment_Date
      W561789     1
      W561789                          Shipped               2/28/2011
      W561789                          On_Order             2/27/2011
      W561875                          On_Order             2/27/2011What I am trying to pull is specific information from the Employee table, and only the most recent matching record from the Customer table. My query looks something like this (it doesn't work, or it takes a really long time to run)
    SELECT
        D.EMP_NUM, D.EMP_NAME,D.EMP_STORE, D.EMP_CATEGORY, D.EMP_LOCATION, M.SHIPMENT_STATUS, M.WAIT_TIME
    FROM
        DB1.TABLE1@HOST_A_LINK  D,
           (SELECT EMP_NU, SHIPMENT_STATUS, WAIT_TIME,
                             ROW_NUMBER() OVER(PARTITION BY EMP_NUM ORDER BY SHIPMENT_DATE) rownumber
                 FROM DB1.TABLE10@HOST_B_LINK) M
    WHERE D.EMP_NUM=M.EMP_NUM
    AND rownumber=1
    AND D.EMP_STORE='R79'
    AND D.EMP_CATEGORY IN ( 'Sales',
         'Management',
         'Supervisor')
    AND D.EMP_LOCATION IN ( '98-778-77', '87-988-98')thanks

    Just to close the loop on this question, I figured it out. I had to move the ROW_NUMBER() alias outside the scope of the WHERE clause. The query looks like this:
    SELECT
             D.EMP_NUM,
             D.EMP_NAME,
             D.EMP_STORE,
             D.EMP_CATEGORY,
             D.EMP_LOCATION,
             M.SHIPMENT_STATUS,
             M.WAIT_TIME
    FROM
        DB1.TABLE1@HOST_A_LINK  D,
           (SELECT
            FROM
                    (SELECT
                                EMP_NU,
                                SHIPMENT_STATUS,
                                WAIT_TIME,
                                ROW_NUMBER() OVER(PARTITION BY EMP_NUM ORDER BY SHIPMENT_DATE) AS rownumber
                     FROM
                               DB1.TABLE10@HOST_B_LINK
            WHERE rownumber=1) M
    WHERE
          D.EMP_NUM(+)=M.EMP_NUM
          AND rownumber=1
          AND D.EMP_STORE='R79'
          AND D.EMP_CATEGORY IN ( 'Sales',
                                       'Management',
                                       'Supervisor')
          AND D.EMP_LOCATION IN ( '98-778-77', '87-988-98')

  • Storing Data in Context from a table (multiple selection)

    Hi,
    I have created a node called cauverynode, which contains cauName and cauClient as its attribute. I have bound that node with the table. Now i have to store the selected clients into a context. How can i do that? Please help me out. i am unable to store the clients in a string context. Kindly solve it. Below is the code, which will store the selected item and put into a string variable.
    public void supplyCauveryNode(IPrivateSampleComponent.ICauveryNodeNode node, IPrivateSampleComponent.IContextElement parentElement)
    //@@begin supplyCauveryNode(IWDNode,IWDNodeElement)
    IPublicSampleComponent.ICauveryNodeNode cauNode =
    wdContext.nodeCauveryNode();
    ArrayList selectedcauClients = new ArrayList(cauNode.size());
    for (int i = 0, n = cauNode.size(); i < n; ++i) {
    if (cauNode.isMultiSelected(i) || i == cauNode.getLeadSelection())
    selectedcauClients.add(cauNode.getElementAt(i));
    String strSelcaucli = null;
    for (int i = 0, n = selectedcauClients.size(); i < n; i++) {
    strSelcaucli = strSelcaucli + selectedcauClients.get(i);
    wdContext.currentContextElement().setStrCauveryClient(strSelcaucli);
    //@@end
    Multiple selected data is been stored in this selectedcauClients arraylist, which is not working.  Kindly help  me out.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Dhana

    What is the following code supposed to do?
    String strSelcaucli = null;
    for (int ix = 0, n = selectedcauClients.size(); ix < n; ix++) {
    strSelcaucli = strSelcaucli + selectedcauClients.get(ix);
    wdContext.currentContextElement().setStrCauveryClient(strSelcaucli);
    I guess you want to create a string containing the names(?) of all selected elements.
    Then you should use something like
    StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer();
    for (Iterator it = selectedcauClients.iterator(); it.hasNext(); )
      ICauveryNodeElement e = (ICauveryNodeElement) it.next();
      sb.append(e.getName());
      if ( it.hasNext() ) sb.append(",");
    String csv = sb.toString();
    This gives you a comma-separated list of the names of the selected elements.

  • ADF Tree Table - Multiple Commandlinks in one column

    Hi,
    We are building a hierarchy using tree table. The hierarchy looks as follows
    +Root Object
    ++ Child Object One
    +++ Child 1.1
    +++ Child 1.2
    +++ Child 1.3
    ++ Child OBject Two
    At each level, the object is used by more than one users. We want to display the list of users who are using that object in one the column called "Users". We want to provide hyperlink to each of the user that is displayed here. So my question so how do we build set of af:commandlinks with in one column? Or is there any other way this problem can be solved? What is ADF recommended pattern here?
    Thanks,

    How about putting a af:panelGroupLayout in the column and add multiple af:commandLinks into the panel=

  • SQL Loader/External Table multiple record delimiters

    Hi every one.
    I have a strange problem, I have an external csv file which i wish to deal with (external tables or sql loader). This csv is totally not organized in structure and it contains records that are mixed together, meaning that some records are delimited by newline characters. So in short, i want to know if I will be able to load the data in this csv separating records by newline character and another character? So is that possible to have multiple record delimiters specified in the same ctl file?

    abohsin,
    I think using the Stream record format would be helful in your case. Please explore that.
    Using stream record option, instead of the default new line, you can specify a user defined record delimiter.
    Check this link.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/ldr_control_file.htm#i1005509
    Here is what I did. Not the complete answer, but it might be helpful.
    Replace all delimiters witha standard delimiters (in unix)
    sed s/HEAD,/**DLM**/g < test.dat >test2.dat
    sed s/TAIL,/**DLM**/g < test2.dat >test3.dat
    create table t(
      TEXT varchar2(100)
    and Use that delimiter as the standard delimiter.
    load data
    infile "test3.dat" "str '**DLM**'"
    into table T
    TRUNCATE
    fields terminated by 'XXXXX' optionally enclosed by '"'
    TEXT
    sql> select * from t;
    TEXT
    1111,2222,
    4444,5555,
    4444
    1111,3333,
    8888,6666,
    5555
    {code}
    You should also replace new line charecters with '***DLM***'.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh.

  • Advanced Table Multiple Selection View Attribute Type

    Hi,
    I have an advanced table with multiple selection. The multiple selection is associated with a view object attribute that is of type "String". In the create mode, the view attribute stores "Y" for the selected rows. But in the update mode, when I try to initialize the VO from the DB table, the multiple selection checkboxes are not selected for the rows where the DB value of the associated attribute is "Y". Somebody told me that if I specify the type of the DB attribute associated, to Boolean (and also the view attribute as Boolean), then this problem wouldn't occur. Is that correct or I must be doing something else wrong?
    Thanks,
    Amit

    Hi Pratap,
    It's quite simple actually. I mean the problem defintion :-) (not the solution)
    I have a table with multipleselection. Initially the user does a "Select All" and the data is committed to the DB.
    Once committed I don't want the user to change the selection, hence I need to hide the checkbox ( there is no way to make it read only).
    To do this, I make the multipleselectionbean as rendered=false. But when the page is committed again, the row selection is getting changed back to "N" for all rows.
    Now if I don't hide the multipleselection bean, the checkboxes appear as selected and the commit doesn't change the value to "N".
    Hope the problem is clear now.

  • Advanced Table Multiple Selection

    Hi,
    I have created a advanced table under query bean with multiple selection feature.After querying the advanced table bean When i select the row in the table and click on another button i have writtten a logic in process from request to select only those rows selected in table ,but the view attribute of select check box is retuning null is there any way to identify the rows selected

    Use this code in AMImpl. It will definitely work. I have tried. Don't forget to create a Transient Attribute of Type String [[here transient attr is Select]] in the VO.
    public void selectFlag()
    System.out.println("In the selectFlag");
    SombitTestVOImpl vo = (SombitTestVOImpl)findViewObject("SombitTestVO1");
    if (vo != null)
    Row[] arow = vo.getFilteredRows("Select", "Y");
    System.out.println("Row count is"+ arow);
    if(arow != null && arow.length > 0)
    for(int i=0; i<arow.length; i++)
    System.out.println("Value of i is"+ i);
    String Job = (String) arow [].getAttribute("Job"); // here you have to write arow followed by i in square bracket
    Date NotifyDate = (Date) arow [[i]].getAttribute("NotifyDate"); // here you have to write arow followed by i in square bracket
    System.out.println("Value of Job is "+ Job);
    System.out.println("Value of NotifyDate is "+ NotifyDate);

  • Avoid Joining Table Multiple Times

    I have two tables EMPLOYEE and EMPLOYEE_HOURS.
    EMPLOYEE contains EMPLOYEE_ID
    EMPLOYEE_HOURS contains EMPLOYEE_ID, HOURS, TYPE
    So the EMPLOYEE_HOURS table will contain multiple entries for a given period with hours for types 1, 2 and 3.
    I need to display all this on a single line. My query today is
    select e.employee_id, eh1.hours, eh2.hours, eh3,hours
    from employee e
    inner join employee_hours eh1 on e.employee_id = eh1.employee_id and eh1.type = 1
    inner join employee_hours eh1 on e.employee_id = eh1.employee_id and eh1.type = 2
    inner join employee_hours eh1 on e.employee_id = eh1.employee_id and eh1.type = 3This only works if I know the number of types and their codes. I know I could create a procedure and build the query dynamically, but I’m wondering if there’s some other SQL and/or PL/SQL that can handle this in a single query?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    If you don't know the number of codes in advance, then you don't know the number of columns in the result set in advance. Since a single SQL statement cannot return different numbers of columns on different executions, that almost always means that you need to use dynamic SQL to generate the SQL statement at runtime. It is possible, as well, to write a generic pipelined table function that returns a different number of rows but that is generally vastly more complicated (there have been examples posted here in the forums if you really want to go down that path).
    If you know the number of codes (or you can return a fixed number of columns that is known in advance), you don't need to know the individual code values
    SELECT employee_id,
           MAX( CASE WHEN rnk = 1 THEN hours ELSE null END) hours_1,
           MAX( CASE WHEN rnk = 2 THEN hours ELSE null END) hours_2,
           MAX( CASE WHEN rnk = 3 THEN hours ELSE null END) hours_3
      FROM (SELECT employee_id, hours, rank() over (partition by employee_id order by type_id) rnk
             FROM employee)
    GROUP BY employee_idJustin

  • 1 form, 1 table, multiple PHP/SQL UPDATES

    Hi guys,
    I'm hoping you can help me on this one
    I would like to submit multiple entries from a form after hitting one submit button, but am having no luck.
    MySQL Table name: nwbps_class
    Fields: nwbpsclass_id, class, nwbpsclass_welcome, nwbpsclass_order.
    I’m using a PHP/SQL repeat region which will add more fields to the form, for every submission of the above.
    Id like to be able to edit the ‘nwbpsclass_order’ and ‘class’ fields (of each entry) manually in 1 big form submission. I hope I’m making sense.
    David

    Multiple queries are not a problem, you can set conditions to them as well, meaning
    $query1="...";
    if (some condition exist){
    $query3="...";
    etc.
    You can also use a switch statement for queries.
    But your not really giving enough information for someone to give you any more specific help.

  • Creating a numerical table multiple precision

    Hi,
    I am kinda new at this but I was wondering if it was possible to create a numeric table with multiple precisions.  To explain better, I have a table with two columns and I would like the first column to be with precision zero and the other with precision 2.
    Attached is the Vi that I was using where I converted the string from the table to a numerica array, converted the values to the required precision I wanted, and then converted the numeric array back into a string to place in the table.  However this caused labview to keep crashing on me, indicating "Fatal Internal Error : " transact.cpp", line 1323"
    Some other options I have tried are using the key down? event option that forced the user to only type in numbers in the table, however I still had no control over the precision.  I have also tried to use flat sequences, etc... but to no avail.
    Thanks in advance for any help

    Well, "delete from array" is probably not the right tool to get two colums of a 2D array, right?  Use "index array" instead.
    Or you could just do autoindexing as in the attached code draft.
    (btw: I cannot duplicate the crash with your VI. Any special instructions?)
