Table rows over multicolumn layout

Suppose you have a two-column layout and within the layout you insert a table of so many rows. Is it possible to evenly distribute the table rows over the two columns in the layout? What I'm seeing is that the table is often forced into one column.

Kelvin Chung wrote:
I'm not getting it for some reason.
Your problem seems to change every time you post.
I have a table that, if left to one layout column, spans the whole page.
That is expected.
With two layout columns, I'd expect that I'd have it that the table would take up the top half the page.
Why? You've just put it in a 2 col layout. it works its way down that column until the bottom then continues from the top of the 2nd column.
Instead I get something that takes up the left half of the page, as if everything was forced into the left column and the right column remains empty.
Isn't that what you would expect? What do you think the columns are for?
You have changed what you want so often, I can't follow it any more.

  • OBIEE 10g dropping pivot table rows in Compound Layout

    I have a report with 8 pivot table views in the compound layout. In one of the pivot table views, two of the rows do not appear when viewing it in the compound layout. It also doesn't show most (but not all) of the metric values in the 4th metric column in the compound layout. However if you edit this view you will see all the rows and all the values. Furthermore, if you remove the second pivot table from the compound layout, the first pivot table displays everything correctly. No other pivot table removal has this effect. There is no obvious reason why two rows should be dropped from the view only in the compound layout. They don't appear to have anything in common but different from all the others. I can also remove the other 6 pivot table views and this all still happens. I've completely rebuilt the report and it still happens.
    This is 10.1.3.4.1.
    Interestingly, in the environment where this is happening, <ReportAggregateEnabled>false</ReportAggregateEnabled> is set in the instanceconfig.ini. If I move the report (copy the XML) to another environment with this set to TRUE, these problems go away, though it's not terribly clear why. Unfortunately it's not as simple as setting this variable to TRUE because the entire production environment is already running with it set to FALSE and switching this will likely cause other problems.
    Any thoughts? Thank you.

    All the additive metrics have an explicit SUM on them in the Criteria section. The metrics in the Criteria section that are of the form metric1/metric2 are set to DEFAULT.
    In pivot table 1 and 2, the aggregation rule on the metrics are all DEFAULT and report-based totals are checked for all (if I uncheck I get a group-by error).
    The two pivot tables are using two different sets of metrics (technically one is using metric1 and the other is using metric1*(-1) to reverse the sign).
    I really suspect there is a weird aggregation bug here that the ReportAggregateEnabled setting seems to resolve. I'm hoping to switch that to TRUE in the env. where this is not working and see if it fixes it.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

  • View a single table-row as multiple rows in a GridControl

    Hi,
    is it possible to distribute the entries of a single row of a table/RowSetInfo over multiple lines of a GridControl?
    I've seen an example on the Internet (http://www2.gol.com/users/tame/swing/examples/JTableExamples4.html) which does this without database connection but it seems as if it's necessary to replace the default JTable, TableModel and UI by customized ones. As far as I've seen it's not possible to replace the JTable which is used by a GridControl? So is there any other way to do this? (A modification of the JTable-UI itself doesn't suffice as the JTable yields wrong row- and column-numbers on mousclick-events and therefore the components of the second row are not enabled properly).
    Thanks in advance

    You wont be able to replace the JTable. But you can change all the attributes on the internal table which the grid uses (see getTable() method). The datamodel for the grid is impemented by oracle.dacf.control.swing.GridDataSource. You can possibly extend this class. You can also change the Table column model and the renderers used by the Table.

    Could you expain how the mapping between cell renderer and the table (row, col) is done in the extended JTable - which class ?.

    I am very new to struts. I have created a table using displaytable tag which displays results in a tabular format. In addtion, i have a hidden field (prodType), the table rows are getting highlighted when i get my mouse on a particular row.
    Following is the code from the results.jsp file
    <body

    Now where i am having problem is i want that on the basis of prodType my jsp file should call different actions for different prodType as returned....somwhat a function like this
    function submitProduct(prodType) {

    if this question is answered pls point to the the link
    SMART forms:
    layout :  Half of my A4 page is filled with templates, a small portion is footer, the middle portion is Table.
    Note: i have set the condition for the footer as (tick the check box) "only after end of main window"
    Output:
                       the template is displayed the table is populated on the first page, no footer on 1st page,
                    on page 2 the table rows are printed (table rows were a lot) and finally footer got printed every thing as per normal
    what i want is:
                     instead of the table lines printed in the middle of page 2 (bcz my main window table is in the middle, top is templates)
                     i want the table lines (after filling the main window table lines in the 1st page) to continue to print from the
                     top of the page on page 2 and immediately after the table rows finish. footer must be printed....
    what should i be doing to get this output

    dear bob,
    yes i have done that already as u said, when i do it......
    i created a new page (next page) directed first page to next page
    on the next page my layout is like below
    removed all the templates dragged the main window to the top of the page......
    when i check the result, there is an empty line as the first line in the table (2nd page)
    and also the footer (again a template) on the first page, which is ticked as ( print after end of main window) is NOT displaying.

  • How to verify that the user has changed table row data before db update

    Hi all,
    Iam using Oracle ADF with EJBs.
    I have a single selection table that displays rows of data returned from a function of my data control.
    The columns of my table are editable so that the user can change the data. The user selects a row, changes the data in one or more columns of the row and saves the data by means of a submit button. The code in the submit button, identifies the row of the corresponding iterator that the user clicked on and updates the data in the database (using the 'mergeEntity' function of the EntityManager)
    Before saving the data, I want to put some logic to check whether the user has actually changed some data to avoid unnecessary updates in the database . But for this I need a technique to detect that the user has indeed changed some data in the table row.
    One technique I have been using so far was to isolate the iterator row of the table and then query the corresponding row in the database table and compare their values.
    Except from dummy, this technique is not efficient if the table contains many rows.
    Moreover, in my case I have observed that on successive updates on the same row , the query on the database returns the new values (user changed values) and not the actual values contained in the database table. This means that when the user updates an iterator row the cached data affect also the results of the SELECT statement from the actual database table!!! Isn't this strange ?
    Can somebody propose me a neat method to detect when the user has changed the the data of an iterator row ?

    Hey Alan,
    The below solution seems overly complicated to me and can not be implemented without a custom screen and/or the use of JavaScript. Also, if your main concern is that a user may accidentally loose all their data because they closed the browser window or the session times out before they hit the save button then this solution does not help you.
    There are a couple of simpler approaches you can take here:
    # If the use of JavaScript is permissible you can hook into the windows 'onUnload' event, and pop-up a message box which gives the user the opportunity to cancel closing the window and save their case if they haven't already.
    # Implement an autosave feature by hooking into one of events provided by web determinations. A simple (but rather naive) way of doing this would be to hook into the OnRenderScreenEvent and call save on the interview session every time the event fires. This guarantees that all the data the user has submitted will aways automatically be saved, thereby removing the need to make sure the user manually saves their data before closing the browser.
    Automatically making Web Determinations close a browser window has to be done using JavaScript. However, doing so means that a) it won't work for people who turn off JavaScript, which is commonly done for accessibility reasons b) you'll likely run afoul of the browser's security mechanism (they generally won't let you close a window that you didn't open and some really don't like you doing that at all).
    Thanks,

  • SSRS Table/Row Header does not repeat on every page when exported to PDF

    Hi, I have a SSRS Report in which the rows are grouped and the Tablix has a Table/Row header. I wanted the header to repeat on every page for a group because sometimes the data from the group would be more than one page.
                                   To achieve this
                                   - I went to Advance mode by clicking the arrow next to column group
                                   - Selected the Header Static column from Row Group
                                   - Changed the following properties
                                                    - KeepWithGroup: After
                                                    - RepeatOnNewPage:
    True
                                                    - The header columns
    are set to not grow.
    The problem only occurs when the nested grouped data in one of the columns goes over a page. The following pages don't have any header.
    So half of the time the header row repeats but when the nested grouped data extends over one page the header does not show. Problem only occurs when rendered to pdf.
    I found this line "Headings are repeated on each page only if there is sufficient room" in SQL 2008 version. But I could not find it in later versions of sql server. So does that mean it is fixed

    Hi Mumblesnz1,
    According to your description, you specify value of RepeatOnNewPage as True in the report. When exporting the report to PDF, one grouped data extend over one page, and tablix header display on first page, not repeat on following pages.
    As we tested in our environment(SQL Server 2008(SP3)-10.0.5520.0(X64)), it works as you required. We set KeepWithGroup as After and RepeatOnNewPage as True. After exporting to PDF, the grouped data display on two pages, and tablix header repeats on each
    page. Since we haven’t found any document mentioned this issue is fixed on which version, I suggest you try to install the service pack 3 for sql server 2008.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
    Best regards,
    Qiuyun Yu

  • Hover table row style doesn't work in IE

    I found a great way to create a rollover effect when you
    hover over a table row, by giving the row a class of "resultsRow"

    .resultsRow {
    background-color: #EAEEB1;
    .resultsRow:hover {
    background-color: #D2DE56;

    As you've seen, IE is ancient and doesn't support it. You can
    do it
    pretty easily with JavaScript:
    <style type="text/css">
    .resultsRow {
    background-color: #EAEEB1;
    .resultsHover {
    background-color: #D2DE56;
    </style>
    <tr class="resultsRow"
    onMouseOver="this.className='resultsHover'"
    onMouseOut="this.className='resultsRow'">

  • Auto Truncat of text in table row.

    Is there any way to truncate the text displayed in the table row. I need to auto truncate the text in case text does not fit in the row with current column height.

    Hi Kevin,
    I am also facing the same situation. I want to display teh text with truncated to 30 characters only. I identified the outputTexta nd added the truncateAt attribute and set it to 30. but it doesn't seem to work. Moreover the line - truncateAt="30" is underlined with orange squiggly lines indicating that there is some error and when I mouse over it , it says that this attribute is not supported when the component is inside of a hierarchyViewer component.
    Any pointers?

  • Resize table row height dynamically

    Hi All,
      I have a requirement to display four item texts in one of the table column. I had created a subform with four texts in that column. I am getting the data as required, but by default the table row size has increased because of four texts in the column. At times, i have only data in two texts, still getting the default size of the row(0.41in height), how can i adust the height based on the data. How can i adust the row of the table dynamically.
    Thanks,

    Hi Kumar,
    I did similar to this, where as my table is entirly designed in subforms, so there is no auto setting of the columns of a row.
    I had the below code, which finds the maximum height of a coulmn element and sets its height to all of the coulms of a row instance.
    I call this function on layout ready event of the row, as below
    ItemGenerator.setHeight(this);
      function setHeight(rowData){
         if(rowData.presence == "visible"){
    //             xfa.host.messageBox("height set start in layout ready");

    I have designed one function module to be used by both the overview screens. The function mosule takes the filters via an input structure and returns a table as output. • CSS issue when changing the table row height to 16px

    Hello,
    After changing the table row height through css like this:
    .table-row-cell, .table-cell {
    -fx-cell-size: 16;
    the table rows are correctly displayed with a 16px height but the cell bottoms seem to be incorrectly set.
    For example the following css style (a red 3px bottom border):
    .table-cell {
    -fx-border-width: 0 0 3 0;
    -fx-border-color: red;
    doesn't work anymore with the new row height whereas it works with the 24px standard row height.
    While investigating with Scenic View, I noticed that changing the row height changes the TableRow layoutBounds height (from 24px to 16px so that's ok) but not the boundsInParent height which remains to 27px. I think it should become 19px (16 + 1.5 + 1.5). I don't know if it's a bug.
    Anyway, any help making the css red border working for a 16px row height would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Bruno.

    Q: Would this help to just use absolute div tags and give me 'ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTE' positioning?
    No.  APDivs are not a good primary layout method.  Use default CSS positioning (which is no positioning at all).  Align page elements with margins, floats and padding.

    Hi guys,
    I built a dynamic declarative component which basically consists of an af:inputText surrounded by a af:panelLabelAndMessage tag.
    The component works fine until I put it inside a table column, then none of the attribute values get set.

    Hi,
    +#{row.binding.Name.inputValue} , if I use a regular binding #{binding.Name.inputValue} it works ok.+
    Don't think that #{binding.Name.inputValue} works okay in a table because it doesn't stamp the component per row. Actually I don't know if we support dynamic declarative components in a stamped environment (table). I know though that we don't for taglib declarative components in this context.
    Reason why it doesn't work: Tables are stamped at runtime, which means that for better performance, only the generated HTML is reused for each row with different data - not the component. Your component requires itself to be re-created for each row so it can re-read the attribute again. This is not the case in a stameped environment
    Solution: For your particular use case I don't think that a dynamic declarative component is needed as you can add the construct (af:inputText surrounded by a af:panelLabelAndMessage) directly into an af:column tag. The declarative component makes more sense for reuse of layout areas (e.g. custom tabs) that are iterated within an af:forEach (in which case instances of the decalarative components would be created).
    Bottom line: tables stamp their components and as such the attribute property exposed on a DDC doesn't seem to be called for each row, which is by design. This can be considered a bug if there is a use case demanding for a DDC in a table. If this is a requirement for you (and you can't directly add the components to the af:column tag) feel free to file this as a service request with customer support (required a support contract) so development can have a look if the requirement is feasible to implement.

  • Acrobat - Insert Table (Rows/Columns)

    I need to insert a table over a plan (architectural plan) so that we can indicate start and finish dates for work activities.  Is any one aware of a plug-in facility that will allow you to create a table (Rows/Columns) of varying quantity/size? Similar to draw table in MS Word.
    Thanks

    The only way I know to do this is to create the table in a word processor or such. You could do this for all of the tables you need. Create a new PDF of the tables. Then use the object touchup tool (or object select?) to copy the table from the table PDF to the drawing. You may have to look for where it is copied and move it to where needed. The paste seems to work differently in different versions of Acrobat.
