Table space need to be increased in every week..

Dear Experts,
We are facing a new problem .
The problem is like , Last 6 months back we had done the Hard-ware migration. After
migration we need to increase the table space in every 10 days.   But before migration , the table
space was getting ing increased in every 45 days.
In this way , we dont have much space left with us..
I am not able to analyse the issue ...
Please suggest .. What to check and necessary action ...
Thanks,
Sanjana

Hi,
Thank you for the response. Yes , the hord-ware migration is not linked with this issue. But this is happening after migration . So I was thinking , if any setting might have changed or something like that .
Deleting all the redundant data in system means , it should run regaularly. And Now new developments have gone to production.
And the data loads are carrying almost same amount of data. Only 2 changes, Material Master was coming on DELTA , Now its Coming on FULL Load.  Rest all loads are same as before migration.
Kindly suggest.
Thanks,
Sanjana

  • Which table space need to be increased

    Hi ,
If we have to upload heavy loads are there specific table spaces which need to be increased.
I can recollect only PSA table spaces , Appreciate if you can add your views.
    Regards
    Rahul Bindroo

    Hi All,
I have doubt about the table spaces. Say we have table spaces for PSA and cubes and other objects.
Say there is a system where we are not loading data in DSO's so will there be any impact on table space for DSO. Do we need to extend that space as well if we are only loading in Cubes.
    Appreciate your replies.

  • To increase table space

    Hi all,
I am new to unix solaris,
    I have solaris10 64bit os, oracle 10.2.0.4,netweaver 7.0
Now i want to work with BRTOOLS in unix, i want to increase table space.
how to extend table space in solaris environment, what are the commands to do that and what are the steps to do that?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello Prathap,
if you are unfamiliar with database administration for SAP systems,
then start reading the documentation about the BR*Tools:
    [Getting Started with BR*Tools|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp2/helpdata/en/0c/cd271365debc42bef96ac7fd907787/frameset.htm]
For a start, you can call BR*tools on OS-level:
    brtools -u /
    2 (Space Management)
    1 (Extend tablespace)
It is a good idea to post your question in the "SAP on Oracle"
forum. BR*Tools are the same on Unix and Windows, so there
is no need to also crosspost on "SAP on Unix" forum. The
    operating system doesn't matter.

  • Increase Table Space

    Hello Guys.
I need to know to which table space I need to add space if I want to make a copy of a cube that aprox. stores 33 GB of data.
My infocube refers to the following table spaces:
    PSAPDIMI
    PSAPBTABD
    PSAPFACTD
    PSAPFACTI
My question is, I have to increase 33 GB of storage in each table space ??, or how can I determine what table space is going to require more space.
And I also need to pass data to an ODS, so I imagine I need to increase tables:
    PSAPODSD
    PSAPODSI
But how many GB do i have to increase in each table space to ensure a successful load of data from the original cube to the ODS ???.
    Thanks in advance.

    Guillermo,
It would be better to analyze the same in this fashion:
Tables in the Cube - Fact / Dimension etc
The the size for the same ( maybe through DB02 / DB02old ) and find the tablespace in which this resides and accordingly increase the space.
Also you would need a lot of archive log space - usually depending on the log generation - Archive logs can be upto 10 times the amount of data being loaded...
Also budget for the space for the DSO - it will be less that the compressed cube but still not less by a very big margin....

    Hi,
You can do it in couple of ways,ie either with sapdba or brtools.
execute sapdba or brtools and follow the menu options(its quite straight forward)
or you can do it through sqlplus with the command
    ALTER TABLESPACE PSAPEL46DD  ADD DATAFILE '/path of the file ' size xxxM;

  • When do i need to create table spaces ?

    hi all,
i know that any database has one table space and one data file at first creation , but
when do i need to create another table space or data file ? do i need that when oracle tells me that there is no space anymore or what ?

    hi all,
i know that any database has one table space and one data file at first creation , but
when do i need to create another table space or data file ? do i need that when oracle tells me that there is no space anymore or what ? In oracle database, the concept of storage segregation is done by two ways, using the schema and using the tablespace. So assume that you have two applications . One is used for HR related work and another is used for Finance and both kind of data is stored in one single database only. So how would you maintain such requirement? There are two ways to do it. One, you make two different schemas for each of the application and call them, for example HR schema and Fin schema. Now, you can create objects related to each of the application in it's own schema and store it in may be a single tablespace, Users. But this is going to be a little problematic like what would happen if you have lost the data file of that tablespace? You would be losing the data related to both the applications. So the better option would be to use two different tablespaces and store the data related to each application in both of them.
Understand that tablespace is a logical structure only. The only thing that's physical is going to be those data files which are stored under the tablespace. So if you are just running out of space in a data file of a tablespace, you do not need to create another tablespace. Take it like this that if you are running out of space for your family in the house, you can either make a new house for them or you can even build a new floor for them. Which one would be easier to manage, the new floor since a lot of ground work is already done for you. And that's what is the case if you have run out of the space in the data file. For this, you can simply create a new datafile(building a new floor) or even extend the existing one(construct a new room in the same floor, if you have space) . But creating a new tablespace won't be something that you should be doing for the reason of space being exhausted IMO.

    Hello,
Once you split partition you need to rebuild indexes if you want indexes to be in their own tablespaces
    ALTER TABLE PART
    SPLIT PARTITION PK_ID_PRD_MAXVALUE AT
    (6)
    INTO (PARTITION PK_ID_PRD5
           TABLESPACE ACTIVITY_TAB_TS_1
           PARTITION PK_ID_PRD_MAXVALUE);
    ALTER INDEX PART_IX
    REBUILD PARTITION PK_ID_PRD5
    TABLESPACE ACTIVITY_IND_TS_1;
    ALTER INDEX PART_IX
    REBUILD PARTITION PK_ID_PRD_MAXVALUE
    TABLESPACE ACTIVITY_IND_TS_1;Regards

  • Table space got filled up, cannot goto RSA1 transaction also

    Hi ,
We used to take backup of Planning Area every night, due to that Table Space got filled up. Even we could not login to RSA1 transaction to delete PSA requests.
We cannot delete data from Oracle database also, so is there anyway that we can delete data from Tablespace without going to RSA1 & not deleting from Back end.
    Can anybody help........
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Thanks for your answers, we have trying to increase the tablespace through DB02, and also cleared the log backup.
I think it will take some time, mean while can do any thing to overcome this issue.

  • SYSTEM table space is critical

    Hi,
Generally we will not add any datafiles for UNDO table space because it is oracle managed tablespace. For SYSTEM table shall I add datafile if it reaches threshold value or not?
    Regards,
    ARNS.

    Hi,
Normally there is no need to increase the SYSTEM table space. The SYSTEM tablespace should only contain system-relevant data (such as the Oracle Dictionary). If you do not specify a 'Default Permanent Tablespace' when you create the database, the SYSTEM tablespace automatically assumes this role.May be this is happening in your case.
The size of the Oracle Dictionary in the SYSTEM tablespace stabilizes over time. The AWR (Automatic Workload Repository) in the SYSAUX tablespace also becomes relatively fixed in size after a certain time, depending on the retention period. The SYSTEM and SYSAUX tablespaces therefore remain relatively stable in terms of size in the longer term.
Application data, on the other hand, is not stable, and usually grows in size. If user data is stored in the SYSTEM or SYSAUX tablespaces, these two tablespaces may continue to grow in an uncontrolled manner. Time-consuming reorganization is then required at a later stage to correct this.
If non-system database users use the SYSTEM tablespace to save their data, this may also cause the database performance to degrade. The following security problem also arises: If non-system database users store their data in the SYSTEM tablespace, the entire space in the SYSTEM tablespace may be occupied, which means that the database can no longer function. In terms of system availability, you should therefore always ensure that a tablespace other than SYSTEM or SYSAUX is defined as the special Default Permanent Tablespace.
