Can any one tell me who do i increase the tables space step by step
Thanks
Priya

Hi,
You can do it in couple of ways,ie either with sapdba or brtools.
execute sapdba or brtools and follow the menu options(its quite straight forward)
or you can do it through sqlplus with the command
ALTER TABLESPACE PSAPEL46DD  ADD DATAFILE '/path of the file ' size xxxM;

    Hi all,
I am new to unix solaris,
    I have solaris10 64bit os, oracle 10.2.0.4,netweaver 7.0
Now i want to work with BRTOOLS in unix, i want to increase table space.
how to extend table space in solaris environment, what are the commands to do that and what are the steps to do that?

    Hello Prathap,
if you are unfamiliar with database administration for SAP systems,
then start reading the documentation about the BR*Tools:
    [Getting Started with BR*Tools|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp2/helpdata/en/0c/cd271365debc42bef96ac7fd907787/frameset.htm]
For a start, you can call BR*tools on OS-level:
    brtools -u /
    2 (Space Management)
    1 (Extend tablespace)
It is a good idea to post your question in the "SAP on Oracle"
forum. BR*Tools are the same on Unix and Windows, so there
is no need to also crosspost on "SAP on Unix" forum. The
    operating system doesn't matter.

  • Increase Table Space

    Hello Guys.
I need to know to which table space I need to add space if I want to make a copy of a cube that aprox. stores 33 GB of data.
My infocube refers to the following table spaces:
    PSAPDIMI
    PSAPBTABD
    PSAPFACTD
    PSAPFACTI
My question is, I have to increase 33 GB of storage in each table space ??, or how can I determine what table space is going to require more space.
And I also need to pass data to an ODS, so I imagine I need to increase tables:
    PSAPODSD
    PSAPODSI
But how many GB do i have to increase in each table space to ensure a successful load of data from the original cube to the ODS ???.
    Thanks in advance.

    Guillermo,
It would be better to analyze the same in this fashion:
Tables in the Cube - Fact / Dimension etc
The the size for the same ( maybe through DB02 / DB02old ) and find the tablespace in which this resides and accordingly increase the space.
Also you would need a lot of archive log space - usually depending on the log generation - Archive logs can be upto 10 times the amount of data being loaded...
Also budget for the space for the DSO - it will be less that the compressed cube but still not less by a very big margin....

  • Table space need to be increased in every week..

    Dear Experts,
We are facing a new problem .
The problem is like , Last 6 months back we had done the Hard-ware migration. After
migration we need to increase the table space in every 10 days.   But before migration , the table
space was getting ing increased in every 45 days.
In this way , we dont have much space left with us..
I am not able to analyse the issue ...
Please suggest .. What to check and necessary action ...
    Thanks,
    Sanjana

    Hi,
Thank you for the response. Yes , the hord-ware migration is not linked with this issue. But this is happening after migration . So I was thinking , if any setting might have changed or something like that .
Deleting all the redundant data in system means , it should run regaularly. And Now new developments have gone to production.
And the data loads are carrying almost same amount of data. Only 2 changes, Material Master was coming on DELTA , Now its Coming on FULL Load.  Rest all loads are same as before migration.
    Kindly suggest.
    Thanks,
    Sanjana

  • ORA-1653: unable to extend table - but enough space for datafile

We encountered this problem in one of our database Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.4.0

Datafile PCS_DATA01.DBF had only 1GB size. Maximum size is 31GB but database did not want to extend this datafile.
We used temporary solution and we added new datafile to same tablespace. After that database and our application started to work correctly.
There is enough free space for database datafiles.
Do you have some ideas where could be our problem and what should we check?
    Thanks

when it comes to partitions , just to remove fragmentation by moving their partitions doesn't help  .
Apart from that much has been written about it by Oracle Guru like you .

how does free space differ from fragmented space?
is all free space considered by you to be fragmented?
"num_rows*avg_row_len" provides useful result only if statistics are current & accurate.

    Hi Venkat,
Please try to disable the autoextend, in the brspace screen first you make off for autoextend  then you try to extend the space.
Definetly it will work. I have faced same problem earlier.
Please let me know still if you have any problem for extending.

  • Which table space need to be increased

    Hi ,
If we have to upload heavy loads are there specific table spaces which need to be increased.
I can recollect only PSA table spaces , Appreciate if you can add your views.
    Regards
    Rahul Bindroo

    Hi All,
I have doubt about the table spaces. Say we have table spaces for PSA and cubes and other objects.
Say there is a system where we are not loading data in DSO's so will there be any impact on table space for DSO. Do we need to extend that space as well if we are only loading in Cubes.
    Appreciate your replies.

  • Unable to extend the temp segment by 2560 in table space TEMP

    Hi,
I am running the procedure, it aggregate the data, it's taking minimum 1 hour to complete. B4 complete it throw an error:
ORA-01652 - Unable to extend the temp segment by 2560 in table space TEMP.
Note: Tround 5GB disk space is there.
Please help and give me your suggestions.
    Thanks
    Sathya

Well, I'll go out on a limb and suggest that the problem is that the procedure ran out of TEMP space. It's relatively easy to generate 5 GB of intermediate results to sort in the space of an hour. If other sessions were using TEMP space at the same time, that would obviously reduce the amount available to this procedure.
Your two options would be to decrease the amount of sorting that the procedure needs to do or to allocate more TEMP space for it.

    Hi;
    What is your DB version?
You can use toad etc program for increase your related tablespace or you can use below command
    ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE '/xxx/sysaux01.dbf' RESIZE 2000M;
or you can give autoextend as follow:
    ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE '/xxx/sysaux01.dbf' AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 100M MAXSIZE 5000M;
