Table width not displaying correctly in IE - Works in Mozilla / Chrome

I am working tirelessly trying to optimize my site for SEO purposes and I have been able to strip out over a hundred lines of extra code while maintaining my sites look. The problem is in doing so I messed something up - well at least Internet Explorer seems to think so. My site renders just fine in Mozilla and Chrome but for whatever reason, the width of the main table for my product pages is showing up a lot wider than it should. I currently have it set to 859 pixels but Explorer is rendering a much larger table. For the life of me, I can not figure out why this is happening. Our sites homepage The BlueDot is located at http://www.thebluedot.net is showing up as it should in Explorer, but if you click on any of the products it goes wider for some reason? I have limited code access in my store front whereas I have complete control over my home page. Again - it shows as it should in Mozilla and Chrome but not Explorer...
If you happen to decide to help and see anything else I can strip down in the code or make more Google friendly - please let me know - I would so much appreciate any help you could provide. I have tried stripping out any extra tables I could with my current experience with CSS, HTML and Div tags but I know I could probably strip out much more unneeded code if my skills were a bit better.
What am I doing wrong in my code that explorer is deciding to make the table width much wider?
Thanks so much in advance.

Add a # to your background color above.
Also align="center" is deprecated code just so you know. It looks like the table is being populated dynamically from a database. Tables will expand to hold the content it's given - just make sure your dynamically created tables use CSS that constrains the width as you desire it. Potentially this is an ASP .NET control issue (it looks like you're using .asp) and you may need to change that (the control) through whatever CSS it uses.
Hope this helps.

  • Some Websites do not display correctly (i.e. Facebook & Mozilla Page)

    Recently when I visit Facebook and the Mozilla Page on my Desktop Computer (I am writing this on my laptop because this website does not function on my PC) using Firefox, the pages do not display correctly. Instead of the Facebook page appearing in it's usual blue-coloured format it shows as lines of text (not HTML code, but just lines of text, such as "Connect with friends..." in a different font than it should, its all black and white, no colour). Also the top of the screen has written "Facebook Logo" in blue underlined italics instead of the actual logo.
    Does anyone know what may be causing this problem? If so, could you provide me with a solution? I have already tried several support topics (i.e. clearing cache, cookies etc.) but this does not help.
    Please tell me if you require more detail or wish for me to elaborate/describe my issue in an alternate way.
    Thank you very much.

  • Fonts not displaying correctly in Muse, working fine on upload. HELP! Working on Muse CC 2014, Mac OSX 10.9.4

    Hello!
    In Muse, my fonts are displaying incorrectly, when uploaded the fonts are correct. I am guessing this is a system issue. First time I have had this problem since making the jump to CC 2014 and it is making designing painful . I've updated everything, dumped and reinstalled the web fonts, restarted, cleared PRAM and scratched my head a bunch. I also tried to find a font cache to dump but could not locate it...any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Musers! - Andrew

  • Flash objects not displaying in Firefox (but works fine in Chrome and IE)

    Well, I'm trying to embed a Shockwave Flash object into a website I'm building. It displays in Chrome and IE, but it doesn't show up at all in Firefox. It's just white space. Ive tried it on two machines, so it's presumably the code. Both the machines have Adobe Flash enabled... I'm not sure what the problem is. I've not worked with embedding Flash objects in HTML before, so, it's probably something really obvious. I just used the insert command on dreamweaver and it wrote the code that I'm using. If anyone can help me, it would be much appreciated. Here's my code:

    If you can't post an address for a page demonstrating the problem, could you check the Web Console (Ctrl+Shift+k) and Browser Console (Ctrl+Shift+j) for any messages related to the Flash media? For example, does either console show that Firefox is requesting the SWF file? Does either show an error in content type or any kind of security message?

  • How to fix the firefox buttons not displaying correctly (i.e. the "save file" button when trying to install an add on)?

    For example, the button for "save file" when downloading an add-on does not display correctly. It works nevertheless, but the button itself is not showing up correctly.
    *edit: sp errors*

    It looks that you have made changes to the appearance of button that cause items and text to be larger.
    In your case this doesn't seem to work properly with the consequence that the middle part of the button gets distorted.
    I'm curious if this artifact would move to the other (Cancel) button or disappear if you would use the Tab key or cursor key to set focus to the Cancel button or if it is a problem with the label text that isn't default (OK or similar).

    Try this without the border images and it will work in all browsers with increased text size. That's assuming eBay supports embedded CSS styles (which I'm not convinced they do).  Inline styles are safer IMHO.

  • Div header tag - not displaying correctly

    I thought I had resolved an issue with a div header tag, but - as per a reply in my 'text as gif' thread, possibly not!
    The header contains three images; a logo, a banner (text), and a picture of a castle.  These should display in a  line.
    When I first set it up, I realised that the castle picture was normally ending up below the other two on smaller screens etc.
    So I changed the dims for my div container from min 760px/max 1260px, to a set width (960px).  I then rejigged the three images so the widths were within 960px, with some to spare for the spacing (total widths of the three are 900: hspacing another 20 pixels).  There is no padding/borders defined.  Therefore the total should be well within the 960 width (?).
    It looks fine on my PC (widescreen); in 3 browsers, using the restore down menu command (ie to make it not full screen), and by  using the Dreamweaver multiscreen preview (phone, tablet, smaller desktop).  It wasn't ideal (as scrolling required), but at least meant the header (and the rest of the screen) displayed correctly, ie in a horizontal line (and then sidebar - content - sidebar).
    If I set my container width much smaller, most of the screen will be green (the body) in big screens.
    If I rejig the dimensions, it's all a bit hit and miss (and why don't the current dimensions work?).
    Do I need to define the width of the header (as well as the container)?
    Help!  Thank you

    Hi there, I started off using one big image, but it didn't look right with regards to size and placing (ie I wanted the logo on the left edge, the castle on the right edge, etc). When you say slice, what do you mean?  One image in from fireworks, and then ... ? Thanks again

Certainly don't use 'vspace' and 'hspace' to position the images. If you want to use 3 seperate images start by setting them us as one complete image then slice it into 3 images. Then use the following css to position the images side by side. #header img If the total sum of the width of the images is the same or does not exceed 960px then the images should be in a nice row side by side. They will actually sit side by side without using 'float' but you'll get a small gap between them which will be added to the sum of the width which will exceed 960px causing the third image to drop onto the next line.

  • XML not displaying correctly when larger

    Hi,
    When my XML dataset exceeds 2350 lines, SpryDOMUtils.js seems to ad a <tab> to the XML string and it's not displayed correctly in it's container.
    I included 2 screenshots to show what's happening. Tnx a lot!!

    Sorry for the delay, I have spent some time trying to find the culprit. Finally I decided to start afresh with the following markup, which works quite well in all browsers.
    <!doctype html>
    <htm>
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <link href="SpryAssets/SpryAccordion.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="Accordion1" class="Accordion" tabindex="0">
      <div class="AccordionPanel">
        <div class="AccordionPanelTab">Label 1</div>
        <div class="AccordionPanelContent">
          <div id="div1">
            <table align="top" cellpadding="5">
              <tr id="tr1">
                <td  valign="top">{datum}</td>
                <td valign="top"><a href="{link}">{inhoud}</a></td>
              </tr>
            </table>
          </div>
        </div>
      </div>
      <div class="AccordionPanel">
        <div class="AccordionPanelTab">Label 2</div>
        <div class="AccordionPanelContent">Content 2</div>
      </div>
    </div>
    <script src="SpryAssets/SpryAccordion.js"></script>
    <script src="SpryAssets/SpryData.js"></script>
    <script src="SpryAssets/SpryDOMUtils.js"></script>
    <script src="SpryAssets/SpryTooltip.js"></script>
    <script src="design_template_info12.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var Accordion1 = new Spry.Widget.Accordion("Accordion1");
    </script>
    </body>
    </html>
    May I suggest that you copy and paste the markup into a new document to then start adding your own stuff, making sure that you test in IE7 or IE8 at each step.
    Note that I have left xpath.js out of the markup. I think it will work either way. Just keep an eye on it.
    PS
    I did reformat the XML to delete all of the empty lines. Not sure if this helped or not. You can do this within DW as follows

  • BPS_WB: Please Wait Dialog Box not Displaying correctly???

    When we switched our Planning Interfaces to using the New Planning Interface Design the Please Wiat Dialog Box does not display correctly.
    When a Request is fired and the client is waiting for the Response all that shows is a white block in the middle of the screen with no dialog screen or other information.
    It maybe associated with the following:
    function bpsOpenURLSelf(doIt, url)
          if (doIt) {
            try {
                document.body.style.cursor = "wait"; // works only in IE
            } catch (ex) {} // ignore
            open(url,'_self');
          // note: function with doIt==false is used to check
          //       existence of the opener window
    Or it may be associated with a CSS issue?
    I am currently using IE 6.0.2900.2180.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

  • Adobe Illustrator file will not display correctly when logged in as a user

    I am working with an Adobe Illustrator CS2 file that will open and display correctly if I log in as Administrator, but will not display correctly if I am logged on as a user. The error message is that there is not enough memory to display the file correctly and I am forced into preview mode. The user Home folder is on a server. Other than this, I have made certain that the criteria for opening the file match under both interfaces. I have opened the AI CS2 file on other Macs and it opens fine. I conclude that the problem is with the user Home folder, but beyond that, I'm stumped. Any help will be appreciated.

    After I filed a bug-report an Apple engineer contacted me, and asked me to try running java in headless mode: http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/J2SE/Desktop/headless/
    That solved the problem!

  • Management studio dialogs not displayed correct in high resolution

    I am using a Lenovo Yoga2 with 3200x1800 screen resolution, and some dialog boxes are not displayed correct, like the Select backup file dialog that doesn't display directory and the file list. Is there any fix for this?

    I'm having the same issue. Let me try to elaborate a little, providing you with more details.
    Laptop, Dell Precision M3800
    Resolution, 3200x1800 (getting more common on new high-end laptops with 15+ inches)
    OS, Windows 8.1
    Application, SSMS aka SQL Server Management Studio - version 2014 (earlier version has same issue)
    SQL Server Engine irrelevant (tested with 2014 and below - all the same)
    I understand you want to see a screenshot, but really, it doesn't make sense as you won't be able to reproduce the error if you are watching on e.g. a FullHD screen. therefore, I've taken a screenshot and resized it to a FullHD size so you get a better feel
    of the issue - however, I have to mention text will look a lot more crisp on a 3200x1800 screen (that's kind of why you want a screen with high PPI). That said, it's still way too small to look at.
    If you view below image on a 15.4 inch screen with FullHD, you get a feel of how I work with SSMS today.

  • Problems with Turkish characters not displaying correctly

    A user is having problems with certain Turkish characters in particular fonts not displaying correctly (as shown below).
    The two fonts (Gill Sans and Helvetica LT CondensedLight) are used for English language marketing material.  Ideally, for continuity, the same font would be preferred for our Turkish language marketing material rather than changing it to a similar font.
    Helvetica LT CondensedLight
    Turkish character “ İ ” does not display correctly in either Word or InDesign.
    Gill Sans
    Turkish characters “ ş ” and “ ğ ” display correctly in Word but not InDesign.
    My questions are:
    1. For Gill Sans, why are the characters not displaying in InDesign but are in Word?
    2. I've noticed here: http://www.webtype.com/font/gill-sans-family/#glyphs-tab that the required characters are available within the Gill Sans font.  Is this because the font is newer and includes the additional characters?  Would this work in InDesign?

    One of the big differences between InDesign and Word is that Word will happily substitute glyphs without telling you. So, unless your installs of Word and of InDesign are using different versions of Gill Sans (which is possible, BTW) then your s-with-cedilla and your g-with-macron are actually not in Gill Sans but in some other font. I'm guessing Arial.
    It's possible that you have more than one Gill Sans installed (e.g. one in your Document Fonts folder and another in your system fonts folder) that have different glyph complements. Gill Sans has been around a long time, and the version I have from the 90s has no Turkish support whatsoever.
    As far as the capital-I-with-dot, you can check your glyph coverage in a variety of ways. In both InDesign and Word, you can open up a window that shows you all of the glyphs in a font. In InDesign, find it in Type -> Glyphs. In Word, it's called "Insert Symbol" and you can find it in Word 2010 by going to Insert -> Symbol -> More Symbols. I am guessing that the answer to this question is simply that your cut of Helvetica LT has no cap-I-with-dot. You'd need to pick a font that actually has support for Turkish. On WIndows, I use a very full-featured freebie called BabelMap to check font coverage. They have a Web version here:
    http://www.babelstone.co.uk/Unicode/babelmap.html
    but I personally prefer the downloadable .exe file.
