Tables in InfoCubes

I see the X, Y, S, Q, P, M tables in listschema TCode for an Infocube.
what is the significance of each of these tables?
Karthik

Hi Karthik,
S Table
With one exception, the S table is generated when a characteristic is activated. The
one exception occurs when a characteristic is defined exclusively as an attribute.
In other words, this characteristic can only be defined as the attribute of a master
data-carrying characteristic in a different scenario.
Time Independent Navigation Attributes
The X table is only generated when at least one time-independent attribute is defined
as a navigation attribute. The key of the X table of the navigation attribute (naming
convention S_<Name of attribute>) is the SID for the SID table belonging to the
characteristic whose attribute is used here as the navigation attribute.
Time Dependent Navigation Attributes
The Y table is only generated when at least one time-dependent attribute is defined
as a navigation attribute. The key of the Y table of the navigation attribute (naming
convention S_<Name of attribute>) is the SID for the SID table belonging to the
characteristic whose attribute is used here as the navigation attribute.
/BIC/P <technical name of the characteristic> (for customer-defined
characteristics that have attributes that are not time-dependent.)
/BI0/P <technical name of the characteristic> (for SAP standard characteristics
that have attributes that are not time-dependent.)
/BIC/Q <technical name of the characteristic> (for customer-defined
characteristics that have attributes that are time-dependent.)
/BI0/Q <technical name of the characteristic> (for SAP standard characteristics
that have attributes that are time-dependent.)
hope it helps...

Raju

  • Key figure units in fact tables of InfoCube are blank

I run RSRV - Key figure units in fact tables for my cube and found the following error message. I found one SAP note 941895 - RSRV test fails with unknown error, but our system status is SAPKW70020, so this note is not useful to our case. Pls advise!
    System message:
The test Unit of key figures in fact tables for InfoCube XXX initial had to be terminated due to an unknown error (RSRV320).
    Many thanks!
    rajatina.

    Hi Raja,
Check that in your transformation you have mapped Unit from source system to this key figure. If not then you will have to do the mapping and reload the data. If you are not able to get unit from source system then atleast you will have to assign some constant Unit if possible.

  • Error when running report: "Error in aggregate table for InfoCube"

    Hi Experts
We had a temporary error, which I would like to find the root cause for.
We where running a Workbook which is based on a multiprovider. For a short period of time (around 10 minuts) we got the following error when we executed the workbook based on this multiprovider:
"Error in aggregate table for InfoCube"
There where no loads or aggregates rolling up on the cubes in the multiprovider.
I see no short dumps as well in ST22.
Have anybody seen this error before, and how can I trace how this error occured?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Torben

    Hi Sneha,
I will Suggest u to do some RSRV tests.
Go to transaction RSRV. There you will find test for aggregates. Just Perform them and see whether you get any discrepencies.

  • Fact tables in Infocube

How many tables Exact Contain in Info cube?
    Please search the forum
Edited by: Pravender on Sep 16, 2011 12:31 AM

    Hi Mahesh,
For Basis InfoCubes in SAP BW, there are two fact tables for
including transaction data: The F and the E fact table.
Unlike the E fact table, the F fact table contains the information
about the request from where the transaction data originates
When loading data (when receiving requests), the system writes data
    into the F fact table.
During "compression", the system summarizes data from different
requests and writes it to the E fact table.
To ensure good reporting performance, it is important that you only
keep data from a few requests in the F fact table, which means that you
should compress requests as soon as possible.
Also bear in mind that deleting transaction data according to the
request is only possible from the F fact table, as only this table
contains the information regarding which data belongs to which
    request.
You should therefore compress a request as soon as you are certain
that the data loaded is correct. When you install BW on an ORACLE database, BITMAP indexes are created on the fact tables to improve the reporting performance of the system
And yes try to search on help.sap, there is plenty of information.

  • Web report data provider change from Master data table to InfoCube

    hi Experts,
I have created one report on top of multiprovider but in the selection screen when i check the values for a variable I came to know that data is coming from master data table and not from data provider(InfoCube). Can any one help to change the data selection from master data table to data provider(InfoCube) and i am sure that there is no ODS involved in the multiprovider.
    Thanks in advance
    With Regards,

    Hello,
If u are using Analyser then just put a Analysis Grid on the output of the query(should cover all the rows and column) , click on the grid and put the dataprovider. and do auto fit.

  • Dimension ids are 0 in fact table of infocube

    Hi ,
We have cube in which we have have dimension A which has two chars stocktype (non masterdata).
    and stock category(non masterdata).
When I checked the fact table of the same cube I could see that the DIM ID for A is maintained as 0 for all values.
In this case how does the DIM IDs get linked to the fact table.
    Please explain.
    Thanks.
    Ramesh

    Hello Ramesh
DIM ids are combination of SIDs.  Please check whether those two InfoObject have "Attribute Only" option checked in InfoObject maintenance.
If that is the case , then there will be no SID table generated for these two InfoObjects and if no SID is there, there can not be any DIM id.
But I was wondering why this if these are Attribute Only then why did system allow you to add them in dimension.
Another possibility, you did not get any data for these two field in this cube , so it did not check SIDs and generated DIM ids.
Do you have value for these two fields in the cube?
    Regards

  • The fact table of InfoCube 0OPA_C11 is missing 2 secondary indexes

    Hello experts,
in RSRV i got the above mentioned message for my InfoCube 0OPA_C11. Before I tried to delete, repair and build up my indices in performance tab of the InfoCube.
I followed SAP Note '401242 - Problems with InfoCube or aggregate indexes'.
-> SAP_INFOCUBE_INDEXES_REPAIR repaired indexes and show no further problem, but problem still exists, in performance tab light is red and RSRV brings same message.
Does someone have any idea what further I can do?
    Best regards,
    Peter

Peter, refer to note 928037, it's FAQ about MaxDB indexes. I gave it a quick reading and I believe the answer to this issue lies beneath this doc! There are ways to check consistency of individual index, bad indexes and ways of eliminating them.
Also, refer to the below blog. Check the status of the secondary index in this case. I suspect they are bad or missing. There are ways to recreate them. Keep your basis guys in the loop.
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/MaxDB/MaxDBIndex%28Secondary+Key%29
    Hope this helps.

  • InfoCube F table & E table for Bex

    Hello All,
Could someone help me with the following,
    1. Bex access the records from F-table or E- Table of InfoCube?
    2. If Accessing from E- table is true, do we have to move the records from F table to E table in-order to make the records available for reporting?
    3. when we do roll-up in InfoCube maintenance, records are moved to aggregates? or  moved from F table to E table?
your responses are appreciated with points.
    Thanks

    hi,
    1. Bex access the records from F-table or E- Table of InfoCube?
Ans - If the cube is not compressed it takes from F table, if fully compressed it takes from E table, partial compression - both F and E.
    2. If Accessing from E- table is true, do we have to move the records from F table to E table in-order to make the records available for reporting?
Ans - E table will have data once you do compression, and compression is not mandatory for all the cases. try using aggregates for reports.
    3. when we do roll-up in InfoCube maintenance, records are moved to aggregates? or moved from F table to E table?
Ans- Moved from cube to aggregates.

  • Key Figure units in Fact Table - Error

    All -
When a run a report off of a cube, some row display 0 when there are corresponding values in my cube.  The report doesn't agree with LISTCUBE.  I have ran transaction RSRV on my cube and tested the "Key figure units in fact tables of Infocube" and I get an error saying that 1380 units are missing from fact table.
    <b>Diagnosis
In the fact table /BIC/FEU_FRCTS records have been found that contain values other than zero for key figures that have units, but that have no value for the unit of the key figure. Since the value of the unit has to correspond to the value of the key figure, this inidicates an error when the data was loaded. The values of the units have not been loaded into BW correctly. Choose Details to display the incorrect records.</b>
Does anyone know what this error means? How do I solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Nyrvole

    hi Nyrvole,
as the message said, you have keyfigures with unit but the unit value not filled, click 'detail' as suggested to check which keyfigure(s) involved, that go to rsd2 type in that keyfigure and see which infoobject unit is used, then check transfer/update rules how this unit infoobject mapped, try correct the values and upload again.
there is option 'repair' in rsrv but think in this case it can't fix the error, just try.
    hope this helps.

  • Index Problem in Infocube

    Hi BW lovers
I am having problem with the index in one of our cubes. This is the story:
    1. I did a lot of compress on a cube with 41 000 000 records in. After that run DB statistics (ended up green).
    2. After that I checked index in the performance tab and it was yellow.
    3. I tried to repair index, and it did not help (still yellow)
    4. Delete and created index again (still yellow)
    5. I run a check in RSRV and there was one yellow saying "<i>Index /BIC/FZHISTORY~900 type is BITMAP. Type NORMAL was expected</i>". I tried to repair it but still the same problem.
    6. I tried to run ABAP program SAP_INFOCUBE_INDEXES_REPAIR (still yellow)
    7. Did all things in note 401242 (check DB02 etc)
Still yellow.... Anyone have a clue what to do?
    Best Regards
    /Pontus

I'm assuming this is an Oracle DB because of refrence to bitmap index.
The 900 index is an index that is added to the F fact table for InfoCubes wher you have specified they are to be partition (from the Extras menu option).  This is an index on characteristic that was specified for partitioning (0CALMONTH or 0FISCPER).  According to Note 217397, the index is supposed to be a bitmap index.
    <i>Partitioned Infocubes
There is an additional index for F facttables of partitioned infocubes in BW 3.x systems. Thereby it does not matter whether the infocube is standard or transactional. There is <b>an additional bitmap index</b> on the column of the F facttable that corresponds to the partitioning column of the E facttable This index's name is "900", i.e. "/BIC/F...~900" on the database</i>.
So how do we reconcile your error msg and this Note?  Msg saying it expected a Normal index and this Note saying it is supposed ot be bitmap?
This isn't a transactional cube is it?
Note 1024018 makes reference an earlier Note that indicates the 900 index was not included as part to of the rebuild index process at some previosu point, but the note it referenced didn't see, to clarify when the change was made.  I would check and see if the 900 index actually gets rebuilt when you perform the repair.
Maybe you could have your DBA rebuild it if the Repair function is not doing it.  Seems like some more OSS Note digging is in your future. <b>Note 401242</b> - Problems with InfoCube or aggregate indexes - runs thru some diagnostic efforts you can pursue.
Note 1003360 - BW fact tables: Deleting index from process chain terminates - talks about a failure in PCs because the 900 index gets deleted twice.
Note sure what SP you're on - but since it looks like the 900 index has been a problem off and on, you'll have to see what Notes might be applicalable to your SP.

  • Urgent regarding E & F fact table

    Hi all,
How and where we find E & F partition fact table having size larger than 30.
    It's very urgent.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Priya.

    Hi,
You can find the table related to InfoCube by following the below mention naming convention.
    <b>/BI<C OR DIGIT>/<TABLE CODE><INFOCUBE><DIMENSION>
    <C or digit>: C = Customer-defined InfoCube
    Digit = SAP-defined InfoCube
    <table code>: D = Dimension table
    E = Compressed fact table
    F = Uncompressed fact table
<InfoCube>: The name of the InfoCube without leading digits (if any)
<dimension>: (only used for dimension tables)
    P = Package dimension
    U = Unit dimension
    T = Time dimension
    0-9, A, B, C = User-defined dimension tables</b>
And you can find info about the size of infocube:

  • F and E Fact Tables

    Hi,
What is the difference between F fact table and E fact table?
When we create an Infocube which fact table is generated?
    Thanks,
    Soujanya

    Hi ,
Difference between 'F' fact table & an 'E' Fact table
A cube has 2 fact tables - E and F. When the requests in the cube are not compressed the data exists in the F fact table and when the requests are compressed the data lies in the E fact table.
When the requests are compressed all the request ids are lost (set to NULL) and you would not be able to select/delete the data by request id. The data in the E fact table is compressed and occupies lesser space than F fact table.
When you load a data target, say a cube, the data is stored in the F fact table. If the cube is compressed, the data in the F fact table is transferred to the E fact table.
The F-table uses b-tree indexes the E-Table uses bitmap indexes. Index, Primary Index (The primary index is created automatically when the table is created in the database.).  Secondary Index (usually abap tables), Bitmap Index(Bitmap indexes are created by default on each dimension column of a fact table), and B-Tree Index
Bex access the records from F-table or E- Table of InfoCube
Bex access both F and E fact tables. If data exists in both tables, it picks from both.
If the cube is not compressed it takes from F table, if fully compressed it takes from E table, partial compression - both F and E.
Roll-up adds the copy of records from F or E table to the aggregate tables. The records are not moved from F or E.
Also check the below SDN thread.
What is the difference between Fact tables F & E?
Hope the above info is helpful.
    Cheers

  • Fact table to Dimension table ratio in RSRV

    Hi all,
I want to analyze how best the modeling is done, because I came to know that line item dimensions are not being used/designed at all, so want to know the ratio between fact to dim table.  I read in some documentation that we can find that information in transaction rsrv.  I tried in both 'All Elementary tests" and "All Combined tests", but I really didn't get how to find/analyze the data to find the percentage.  Please let me know.
    thanks,
    Sabrina.

    Hi Bhanu,
What I am seeing is this.  It shows % of dim table to Infocube.  Should i assume this as dim table:fact table as 165:100 resp.  Infocube here means fact table I guess right?
@5B\QInformation@     Table /BIC/DZNETO_IC7 has 1633060 entries. Size corresponds to 165% of the InfoCube          14:30:35
By any chance do you know what is the ideal percentage.
    thanks,
    Sabrina.
