Tabs that are open when I close, won't reopen when I restart FF

Using FF 20.0.1
All of a sudden, today/yesterday, when I reopen FF, the tabs that were there when I closed are not there anymore----the only tab open is my homepage......
Yes, I do have "show my tabs from last time when I open FF" checked.
What's up?? Is this because they updated FF to 20.0.1??

No, "restore previous session" is greyed out---not using private browsing
One thing I do remember from few days/week ago, last I checked anyway, I did have FF 19.0.1, and today when I'm having problems I checked and I have 20.0.0---seems they automatically updated me, and now I have a problem.
Is this connected, and how to fix??

  • Why don't tabs that are open on my iPhone appear in Show All Tabs on my MacBook Air?

When I select Show All Tabs in Safari 8.0.3 on an early 2014 MacBook Air, I see the tabs that are open on my iPad but not those that are open on my iPhone 6. I recently updated the phone to iOS 8.2. All my devices are connected to my iCloud account and Safari is checked in my iCloud settings on the phone. So I don't understand why the phone's open tabs no longer appear in Show All Tabs on the MacBook Air. The iPad is an iPad 2 and it's still running iOS 8.1.3. Am I right in guessing there's a problem with the iOS 8.2 update?

  • Clicking GMAIL off toolbar crashes FIREFOX tabs that are open...everything, INCLUDING writing projects in progress, is lost

    Under FireFOX 3.06.10
I have google toolbars on my Firefox Browser, to get to email easier, but with latest version, when I open google button in new window, Firefox closes all the the open tabs.
These used to be independent, and anything done in a new window, "open in new window" did not affect the existing Firefox tabs that were already open.
NOW, when I open google tool bar button, "add-on", FireFox closes the existing browser session, with all the browser tabs, and everything, all gone.... VANISHED.

  • Is there a way to see from Win7 the safari tabs that are open on my ipad?

Fairly often, I send webpages I see on Facebook over to Safari on my iPad that I want to transfer over to my desktop Windows 7 machine.  The way I do that now is to physically carry the iPad over to the PC, open Safari, open a browser on the Win7 machine, and then on the Win7 machine I go to the domain the article is on, and search for it there from the search function on that website.  This is a really laborious and frustrating process.  Recently, I noticed in Safari that if I tap on the cloud icon on the upper right corner, it brings up a message saying "iCloud automatically shows all the open tabs on your other devices."
It sounds very much like if I have tabs open in Safari on my iPad, and I have, say, an iPhone on the same iCloud account, I would be able to see on the iPhone, in real time, a list of all the tabs currently open on the iPad.  But it also suggests that I *SHOULD* be able to see those tabs from my Windows desktop machine, if I have iCloud installed there.  I have spent several hours trying to find a pluggin that lets me do that on Win7.  I DO NOT want to synch my bookmarks between the two machines.  I ONLY want to zap the currently-open tabs from iPad Safari to my Win7 machine, so I can save them on the Win7 machine (drag and drop a shortcut to a folder, tweet the link, copy-paste it to chat, etc).  To put it another way, I ONLY want to see the tabs I have open on my iPad via my Windows machine, and open one or the other of them on the Windows machine.  I don't want, or need, to synch my bookmarks between machines.  I JUST want, from Windows, to be able to see the URLs I *currently* have open on my iPad and then load them on the Windows machine.
Is there a way to do that?

Try a program such as Disk Inventory X or OmniDiskSweeper.

  • When i close an open tab, other tabs that are open unexpectedly close as well.

i often have many open tabs, which show below the quick-launch bar. when i attempt to close one [e.g., three mozilla tabs about different subjects] others close with only a warning, something like, "closing this tab will also close 6 other tabs."
another example: google calendar, which sometimes ends up with three open tabs below quick launch, even when i select google calendar from the bookmark toolbar.
i hope this is not convoluted. i tried my best to explain my dilemma.
    thanx.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:

  • I can't close any of my tabs that are open using the little x that used to be there.

I used to be able to have a few tabs open at the same time and if I wanted to close one of them, all I had to do was to click the X at the top right-hand corner of the tab. Now I can't do that anymore because the X is gone from the tabs. I would like to get the X back onto my tabs. Can I do this and if so, how?

The main page of the "Hide Tab Bar With One Tab" extension shows the 1.2beta3 version as current and updating the extension should fix the problems with the close button.

  • I have an Iphone and a mini Ipad.  When I open Safari on my Iphone  I can see the open tabs that are open in my Ipad, but when I open Safari in my Ipad it tells me that I don,t have any open tabs in my other device, which is not correct.

What can be the problem that the Icloud tabs on Safari don,t appear from my Iphone in my Ipad?

Make sure you have inadvertently turned on private browsing on your phone.  It will not sync iCloud tabs if private browsing is turned on.  There are some other troubleshooting steps you can look through here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5372.

  • Does Firefox "freeze" tabs that are in an inactive tab group to increase performance/save memory?

Tabs that are in a tab group but are otherwise not in focus occupy the same amount of memory as the tabs that are open. In all probability, this is inefficient. I realize Firefox handles all tabs as one process (as opposed to Chrome's single-process-per-tab), but is there anyway within Firefox's framework to freeze these hidden tabs and unfreeze them when they're in focus? It seems like it would speed things up considerably.
Still, I LOVE Firefox 4 and have been using since Beta 7. Thank you! :)

    Hi.
This is about a question you posted to the Firefox Support forum three months ago (I'm sorry you never got an answer).
Did you ever fix the problem where Firefox freezes or hangs, when clicking a download link or using (File menu) "save as" or "open file"? Or when going to the Firefox (Tools) menu and clicking Options ? Or trying to Import or Export bookmarks?
I found this thread searching for a solution for someone on MozillaZine's support forum who's having a similar issue. See this thread: (maybe something he's tried that didn't work for him will work for you?)

  • Why are the options for "When Firefox starts" NOT clickable in Firefox 5? I want to choose "Windows and tabs that where opened last time you accessed the net" but Firefox won't let me.

In the previous version of Firefox one could choose to save tabs so that when Firefox opened, all the tabs from the previous sessions appeared. This was done in Settings > Options > General > Startup. In the menu for the "When Firefox Starts" one had the option for "Windows and tabs that where opened last time you accessed the net." in Firefox 5.0, this menu is gray and not clickable. Help, please?

''Why are the options for "When Firefox starts" NOT clickable in Firefox 5?"
Possibly you are not saving your "browsing history" which is what the session history is tied into.
'''Not saving History''' -- check your settings for '''Tools > options > Privacy'''', make sure you are not clearing more than just cache in "Settings for Clearing History"
    * http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/4928/clearcachew.png
    * clearing your history at end of session, cache is the only one you would want to clear at end of session, if you don't want to lose things
There are several things that are related to private browsing and not saving History
    * Private Browsing Ctrl+Shift+P
    * You selected "Never remember history" in first drop-down of Tools > Options Privacy and all of the check marks disappear (See picture above)
    * "Permanent private browsing mode" was check-marked under "Use custom settings for history" in the first drop-down of Tools > options > Privacy (see picture above)

Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base before you post a question.

  • Once Firefox crashes & restarts, homepage opens (not tabs that were open prior to crash) even though "tabs from last time" is selected for when Firefox starts.

When Firefox crashes and subsequently restarts, the tabs that were open are not restored. I do not get the "well, this is embarrassing" dialogue box that gives me the option to restore tabs. When restarting, Firefox just gives me my home page. This happens even though I have selected under options for Firefox to open previous windows & tabs upon start up.

Hopefully you still can use History > Restore Previous Session to get back to where you were.
To restore the regular behavior of resuming your previous session after a crash, you probably need to change one of your preferences back to its default value.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''sess''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash''' to switch its value from false to true.
If you prefer to always get the "this is embarrassing" screen rather than having Firefox re-open all the windows and tabs immediately, also change this preference:
    (4) Double-click '''browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes''' and change the value from 1 to 0.
Hope that helps in the unfortunate event that you have a crash!

  • Safari reopens to the the most recent website or tabs that were open when closed.

I just updated to Lion and have Safari 5.1. When I quit Safari either by hitting Command + Q or from Safari > Quit Safari, then either right after or later on go to open it back up it loads the last recent web page(s) (any tabs that were open as well) and not the homepage. If I just close just the window then open it back up it will go to the homepage. It is almost like it is recovering from a crash or something, but it has never done this before. Is there an option to change this? Any suggestions?

  • How can I get Safari 5.1 to open without opening all the tabs that were open when i last quit safari?

When I lauch Safari (5.1 in 10.7) I want it to open to either an empty page or a designated homepage - but istead it opens all the tabs that were open when I quit Safari.  How do i stop this, I cant find any preference to achieve this and see nothing in help.  Any help?

Hi James - Thanks for the info!  This has been bugging me, too.  I'm going to uncheck the Restore Windows box.  Agree with you that it should be app specific, tho.  I like opening to the last page I was working on in pages and numbers.  Hope it doesn't change that!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
