Tabular report hidden field error

Hi there,
I have a tabular report, and I have two fields which I am auto populating, I have currently set them to Display As Text, however, I would prefer to hide them, I have tried setting them to Hidden, but when I do, I get a SQL error when submitting the form, it appears that all the columns in the table have to be displayed in the tabular report for it to work. Does anybody know how I can hide the fields? I am using APEX 4.
Thanks... Anil

Hi
Have you tried setting the column to not show (using the checkbox) in the report attributes instead (leaving its type as display as text)?
I remember having to do something similar in the past but I don't have access to an install at the moment that I can test on...
Cheers
Ben

  • Tabular Report Audit Fields Update

    Hi All,
    I have a tabular report. And I am Updating Multiple rows on Submit.
    I have issue with the Audit Fields. When I make changes and click 'submit' (MRU) , all the columns are updated but my audit fields (Standard report columns) are not being updated.
    Please help me fix this.
    I am using version 3.1 and 9i db.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Daniel

    daniel,
    The best approach would be creating an database upate audit trigger on your audit columns and update them with sysdate and app_user. For example see below
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER  SMAPLE_TBL_TRG
    BEFORE
    UPDATE ON SAMPLE_TBL FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    IF UPDATING THEN
         :NEW.UPDATE_DT  := SYSDATE;
         :NEW.UPDATE_SID := CASE WHEN V('APP_USER') IS NOT NULL THEN
                              V('APP_USER')
                        ELSE
                             NVL(:NEW.UPDATE_SID,USER)
                      END;
    END IF;
    END;update_dt and update_sid are audit columns of the sample_tbl table. In this way the before update trigger will fire when ever you update any record within sample_tbl table.
    thanks,

  • Error: Show Details cannot be executed when multiple items are selected in a report filter field or in a slicer

    I have connected TABULAR Model to Excel, and in the pivot the filter is on multiple dimensions. When doing the drillthrough action it gives error - Error: Show Details cannot be executed when multiple items are selected in a report filter field or in a slicer
    Is there any workaround to this error?  so that drillthrough can be done even with multiple selection.

    Hi Vikas,
    The reason behind the error message requires the knowledge on what happens at the backend. When you perform a drill-through action, a query is sent to Analysis Services. This query is expressed in a query language called Multi-Dimensional Expression (MDX).
    Since the MDX language doesnot support drill-through command against a set (collection of tuples) an error is persisted.
    For now, there is no workaround as it is a limitation of the underlying language that is generating the query.
    When multiple items are selected you lose the ability to drill-down on individual metrics. To resolve you must either:
    1. Select a single Item.
    2. Select all items.
    Hope this helps!
    Please mark as Answer if this helps! Thanks, Rajasekhar.

    Hi manish ,
    I have Used the following code to validate end date should be more less than start date;
    DECLARE
    l_error VARCHAR2 (4000);
    BEGIN
    IF TO_DATE(apex_application.g_f05 (i), 'DD-MON-YYYY ') > TO_DATE (apex_application.g_f04 (i),'DD-MON-YYYY'
    THEN
    l_error :=l_error
    || '</br>'
    || 'Row '
    || i
    ||' ,TEST';
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    RETURN LTRIM (l_error, '</br>');
    END;
    it's giving the error like :
    ORA-06550: line 16, column 6: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "RETURN" when expecting one of the following: begin function pragma procedure The symbol "begin was inserted before "RETURN" to continue. ORA-06550: line 16, column 24: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "BEGIN"

  • Set value for textarea field in tabular report

    Hi all,
    I need some help setting textarea values in a tabular report. The tabular report is for users to be able to build their own ad hoc report, by specifying which columns should be included and filtered. Here are the example tables:
    -- Table that holds all of the data for the report.
    create table vehicle (
      make varchar2(50),
      model varchar2(50),
      type varchar2(50),
      year number);
    insert into vehicle values ('Toyota','Camry','Sedan','2008');
    insert into vehicle values ('Toyota','4Runner','SUV','2008');
    insert into vehicle values ('Honda','Civic','Compact','2011');
    insert into vehicle values ('Honda','Accord','Sedan','2010');
    insert into vehicle values ('Ford','F150','Truck','2011');
    -- Table that holds the columns that are available to be filtered in report.
    create table vehicle_cols (
      col_id varchar2(50),
      col_label varchar2(50));
    insert into vehicle_cols values ('make','Vehicle Make');
    insert into vehicle_cols values ('model','Vehicle Model');
    insert into vehicle_cols values ('type','Vehicle Type');
    insert into vehicle_cols values ('year','Vehicle Year');
    -- Table that holds filters saved by user.
    create table vehicle_user_saved (
      saved_rpt_name varchar2(50),
      col_id varchar2(50),
      col_value varchar2(50));
    insert into vehicle_user_saved values ('Saved Report One','make','Toyota');
    insert into vehicle_user_saved values ('Saved Report One','make','Honda');
    insert into vehicle_user_saved values ('Saved Report One','model','Sedan');
    insert into vehicle_user_saved values ('Saved Report Two','make','Honda');
    insert into vehicle_user_saved values ('Saved Report Two','year',2010);And below is the source query for the region. The textarea value is initially set to null.
    -- Region Source for specifying query parameters.
    select
      col_label,
      apex_item.checkbox(1,'#ROWNUM#','CHECKED') as include_cols,
      apex_item.hidden(2,col_id)
      || apex_item.textarea(3,null,2,100) as filter_cols
    from
      vehicle_cols;When a user clicks the button to load the parameters for a report they have previously saved, I'd like to change the values in the textarea field from null to the saved values from the vehicle_user_saved table so the user can see the parameters and run the report, or modify the parameters if necessary.
    I thought I could run a PL/SQL process (After Footer) when the button is clicked to populate these textarea fields, but the test below doesn't do anything:
    begin
      apex_application.g_f03(1) := 'Hello';
    end;For example, when a user selects to load "Saved Report One," the following parameters should be loaded into the textarea fields:
    Column >> Filtered Columns
    Vehicle Make >> Honda, Toyota
    Vehicle Model >> Sedan
    Vehicle Year >> Null
    Vehicle Type >> NullCan someone help me out? I wouldn't think I need Ajax for this since it's ok to be processed after the button click. But if I do need to use Ajax, I definitely could use some help with it, as I've never used Ajax before. I've setup this example in my hosted account to help.

    Hi, thanks for your response.
    I'm not adding any new rows, I'm just trying to change the values of the textarea fields in the tabular report when the user chooses to load his/her saved parameters. The default for the textarea field in all rows is null, because I assume users will want to start building the report from scratch. However, when the user clicks the button to load his/her saved values, I want to overwrite the null values with new values. How can I do that?
    Thanks,

  • How to set the Background Color of a Text Field in a Tabular Report.

    Hello,
    I tried to set the Background Color of a Text Field in a Tabular Report.
    But I was not able to change this colur.
    In the report attributes --> column attributes
    I tried already:
    1. Column Formating -- >CSS Style (bgcolor: red)
    2. Tabular Form Element --> Element Attributes (bgcolor: red)
    but nothing worked.
    Can anybody help me?
    I Use Oracle Apex 2.2.1 on 10gR2
    thank you in advance.
    Oliver

    in "Report Attributes" select the column to move to the "Column Attributes" page. In the "Element Attributes" field under the "Tabular Form Element" region enter
    style="background-color:red;"
    I will also check if there is a way to do this via the template and post here again
    edit:
    in your template definition, above the template, enter the following:
    < STYLE TYPE="text/css" >
    .class INPUT {background-color:red;}
    < /STYLE >
    (remove the spaces after the < and before the >)
    change "class" to the class that the template is calling
    (I'm using theme 9, the table has: class="t9GCCReportsStyle1" so I would enter t9GCCReportsStyle1)
    A side-effect of using this second version is that ALL input types will have a red background color--checkboxes, input boxes, etc.

  • Display hidden fields in output list when submitting a report from another

    I have a report A that is submitting another report B and exporting the list to memory. Report B is a standard report and cannot be executed on its own.
    SUBMIT ReportB
               WITH p_select = p_select
               EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY
               AND RETURN.
    CALL FUNCTION 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY'
          TABLES
            listobject = t_list
          EXCEPTIONS
            not_found  = 1
            OTHERS     = 2.
        CALL FUNCTION 'LIST_TO_ASCI'
          TABLES
            listasci           = t_ascitab
            listobject         = t_list
          EXCEPTIONS
            empty_list         = 1
            list_index_invalid = 2
            OTHERS             = 3.
    The output of report B displays an ALV report, default layout of this ALV has a number of hidden fields. So when I am exporting the list to memory, the returned internal table finally extracted (t_ascitab) has only the default fields and not the hidden fields.
    The default layout of the standard report B cannot be altered (as per requirement).
    Is there any way the hidden fields of the output of report B can be returned to report A??

    Hi ,
    You have to  Set layout of report  B as per your requirment  .
    There is  also other method
    You can include Reportb   in main report and access  internal table  data  for further processing  .
    regards
    Deepak.

    IIS is7.5, AppPool is Integrated.
    I have tried below, none of them works:
    1) Add it only to system.web\httpHanders. Changed AppPool to classic, still got hidden error.
    2) Add it only to system.webServer\handlers. Integrated mode,still got hidden error.
    3) Add both to both element. Integrated mode, still got hidden error.

    Hi Kingofwebguru,
    According to your description, when you use reportviewer control, you got the error message: The Report Viewer Web Control HTTP Handler has not been registered in the application's web.config file.
    To troubleshoot the problem, please refer to the following steps:
    Click Start, click Run, then type InetMgr.exe and click OK.
    Click plus sign next to server name to expand it.
    Click Application Pools in left pane.
    In Application Pools list, click DefaultAppPool.
    In the Actions pane, in Edit Application Pool section, click Edit Settings to check the Pipeline mode.
    Configuration settings for the HTTP handlers are specified in the system.web/httpHandlers element and the system.webServer/handlers element. of your application Web.config file. The handler specified in system.web/httpHandler is used by Internet Information
    Services (IIS) 6.0 or IIS 7.0 in Classic mode, whereas the handler specified in system.webServer/handlers is used by IIS 7.0 in Integrated mode. To use IIS 7.0 in Integrated mode, you must remove the HTTP handler in system.web/httpHandlers. Otherwise, IIS
    will not run the application, but will display an error message instead.

  • Load linkage error - "com/crystaldecisions/sdk/occa/report/data/Fields"

    We had installed and were using Crystal Reports for Eclpse with JBoss 4.2.  We recently upgraded to JBoss 5.1  Our crystal reports do not work from the web interface anymore.  The error we get is:
    Caused by: java.lang.LinkageError: loader constraint violation: loader (instance of org/jboss/web/tomcat/service/WebCtxLoader$ENCLoader) previously initiated loading for a different type with name "com/crystaldecisions/sdk/occa/report/data/Fields"
    It looks like there might be a class conflict with JBoss jars?  Any ideas on which jars to look at would be really appreciated.  Any other ideas or suggestions on what this error might be?
    Thank you.

    Based on the supported platforms document, I don't believe that JBoss 5.1 is on the list of application servers that are supported by Crystal Reports For Eclipse Version 2.  I believe that the versions of JBoss that are supported are 4.2 and 5.  By not supported, it means that SAP BusinessObjects hasn't tested and certified against these versions.
    As for the error, I'm not sure which jar file would be causing the conflict.
    Regards.

  • How to not make a report NOT print hidden fields

    I have a report were i have alot of hidden fields under my real report. My report uses calculations from the hidden fields.
    My problem is that when i run the report and export it to for example PDF. It generates 4 pages. 3 of them are empty and the first one is the one i only want to use.
    I think this is because i have so meny hidden fields. So can i do something so that the pages with hidden fields do not get exportet?
    Systemdeveloper @ 4film

    Hi Edvard,
    According to your description, when exporting the report, you don't want to have the hidden fields exported. Right?
    In Reporting Services, when we export a report, all the parts in this will be exported including all the hidden report parts. In this scenario, even you cancel the page break and make it together on one page, those hidden fields will still be exported
    as blank space in your report. And if there are too many hidden parts, it will exceed the page size and still have blank page in your report. So for your requirement, we suggest you use some function like Lookup(), LookupSet() in expression to do calculation
    for other data fields instead of using a lot of hidden fields.
    Reference:
    Lookup Function (Report Builder and SSRS)
    LookupSet Function (Report Builder and SSRS)
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
    Best Regards,
    Simon Hou
    Correct, i don't want them exported. when i generate the report all my required data fits on one page. And then i get three blanks.

  • Manual tabular form and hidden fields

    Hi,
    I have a manual tabular form with some hidden fields, one for the primary key and one to handle my checkbox.
    The checkbox handling I got from here:

    Here you can see my very simple example:

    My query:

    , htmldb_item.text(2, ben1) ben1
    , htmldb_item.text(3, ben2) ben2
    , htmldb_item.text(4, ben3) ben3
    , htmldb_item.text(5, ben4) ben4
    , htmldb_item.hidden(6, cb1) cb1_hidd
    , htmldb_item.checkbox(7, ROWNUM, NULL,DECODE (cb1, 'Y', ROWNUM)) cb1

    My problem is that I don't want to show the columns hidden_pk and hidden_cb1. But if I set them to not shown they are not parsed in my html page. Maybe that's all natural but how do I handle this problem??
    Any ideas?
    Regards Daniel

    Stick them to another item, like this
    select
    to_char(dag,'day dd mon yyyy') dag
    , htmldb_item.text(2, ben1) || HTMLDB_ITEM.HIDDEN(1,pk) ben1
    , htmldb_item.text(3, ben2) ben2

    , htmldb_item.checkbox(7, ROWNUM, NULL,DECODE (cb1,
    'Y', ROWNUM)) cb1

  • How to assign a default value on a Tabular Report?

    version 3.2.1
    I have a column in a Tabular Report (SQL Query (updateable report) ) that I would like to default to a value every time that the Add Rows button is clicked. This column needs to have the same value for every row.
    How do I set a default value on the column?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    I've run into the same problem. The 'Default' value isn't even appearing in the form, let alone getting stored.
    I'm not 100% certain (I'm still new to Apex too), but I think that the 'Default Type' and 'Default' value fields of the 'Tabular Form Element' might only apply to new records, ie when using the Tabular Form to create new records.
    In my case, I'm displaying existing records and I've been trying to enter a default new value for a particular field, ie change the value in the field for existing records from null to today's date. I couldn't get it to work and the more I think about it the more I realise that it is probably not the right way to do it.
    One alternative would be to put the SYSDATE into the source SQL (noting that changing an existing tabular form definition would cause an error, so I would have to create a new tabular form). But another (and I think preferable for me) option is to create a trigger that will put the SYSDATE into the field as each record is updated.

  • How to pass hidden field values on a click of a table row

    hi all,
    href = "bookAndNonBook.do"
    I am very new to struts. I have created a table using displaytable tag which displays results in a tabular format. In addtion, i have a hidden field (prodType), the table rows are getting highlighted when i get my mouse on a particular row.
    Following is the code from the results.jsp file
    <body
    onload="addRowHandlers('row', 'rowMouseOver')"
    bgcolor="#FFFFFF" text="#000000" leftmargin="100" topmargin="50"
    marginwidth="" marginheight="" rightmargin="30">
    <html:form action="/bookAndNonBook" method="post">
    <display:table name="sessionScope.productSearchList" id="row"
    sort="list" export="true" defaultsort="1" defaultorder="ascending"
    pagesize="15" decorator="org.displaytag.decorator.TotalTableDecorator"
    class="dataTable">
    <display:column property="prodType" title="ProdType" class="prodType"
    headerClass="prodType" media="html" />
    <display:column title="Title" property="titleName" sortable="true"
    class="title" headerClass="title" />
    </display:table>
    </html:form>
    </BODY>
    I am calling a funtion addRowHandlers which passes the table id (which is row) and the rowMouseover for highlighting the rows on mouse over.
    the code for function addRowHandlers is
    function addRowHandlers(tableId, rowClassName) {
    var previousClass = null;
    var table = document.getElementById(tableId);
    var rows = table.getElementsByTagName("tr");
    for (i = 1; i < rows.length; i++) {
    rows.onmouseover = function () {
    previousClass = this.className;
    this.className = this.className + " " + rowClassName ;
    this.style.cursor="hand";
    rows.onmouseout = function () {
    this.className = previousClass;
    this.style.cursor='';
    rows.onclick = function (){
    var cell = this.getElementsByTagName("td")[0];
    var ProdType = cell.innerHTML;
    alert("value of prodType = " + ProdType);
    when i run the above code and click on a particular row it returns me the value in the hidden field i.e. prodType for that particular row
    Now where i am having problem is i want that on the basis of prodType my jsp file should call different actions for different prodType as returned....somwhat a function like this
    function submitProduct(prodType) {
    if(prodType == "BK")
    resultsForm.action = "/bookProduct.do";
    else if(prodType == "NB")
    resultsForm.action = "/nonbookProduct.do";
    but i am unable to figure out that how do i this..
    Any help will be really appreciated
    Thanks
    Sam

    can you please suggest some good struts forums where i can post my question
    thanks in advance
    Sam

  • Report data binding error

    I have created a banded report split into departments. Each
    recore has a value associated with it. The report runs fine if I
    dont try to sub-total each departments vale, but if I add a
    calculated field to the banding, I get the following error:
    Report data binding error Error evaluating expression :
    textField_2 Source text : calc.Department_Total.
    Variable calc.Department_Total is undefined.
    The calculated field is simply the sum of the values, with an
    initial value of 0 and set to reset when the group changes on the
    department. I am using the same data type for the calc field as it
    automatically gave for the original Value field (Big Decimal)
    Any ideas?
    Dave H

    Does anyone have any ideas about this, Its getting a bit
    critical now. Has anyone else been able to do sums that calculate
    on group changes?? The sum total works for the report, jusyt not
    the bands. I desparate here, pulling my hair out.
