Tag instances - same instance being used across multiple tags
Hi
I am using BEA WebLogic Server 6.1 SP2
Problem:
Tag instances - same instance being used across multiple tags
The problem is that when I use the same jsp tag several times in a page,
The tag is being instantiated only one time, as a result the class
attributes
retain their values when activating the tags.
Example:
A code that demonstrates the problem (not sure that it is compiled)
public FooTag extends TagSupport {
private boolean isValid = true;
private String name;
public setName(String x){
name = x;
public int doStartTag() throws JspException
if (name.equals("x"){
isValid = false;
return SKIP_BODY;
public int doEndTag() {
if (isValid){
return EVAL_PAGE;
<table>
<tr>
<td><mpower:FOOTAG name="x"/>
<!-- isValid attribute is set to false -->
A FOOTAG implmented in FooTag </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><mpower:FOOTAG name="y"/>
<!-- isValid attribute still false (we expected it to be true) ! -->
A FOOTAG implmented in FooTag </td>
</tr>
</table>
P.S.
I am using the same tags library with Tomcat and iPlanet Application severs,
I did not get this problem there !!
What should I do to reinitialize the tag? We have the same problem on custom tag.
We have TabSet tag, which contains a set of Tab tag. In Weblogic 5.1, everything
works ok, however when we run it in weblogic 6.1, Tab object seems like share the
same instance, say if I have 2 Tabs in the TabSet, it ends up shows 2 same tabs with
the apperance of the last tab added to the tabset on the web browser. We do implement
release() method to call super.release() of TagSupport class.
Any help is very appreciated.
Thanks,
Kimberly

Authorization Error (Same Infobject being used in Multiple infoproviders)
Hi Gurus,
We are encountering authorization issues when an auth relevant object is being used in multiple infoproviders in BI-7.
We have made a custom object Auth relevant and this is being used in Multiprovider A. The reports are executed sucessfully from this multiprovider. However the same custom object is being used in Multiprovider B and the reports off of this multiprovider errors with 'No Authorization'. We need Authorization of this object to work only for Multiprovider A and we do not need this authorization in Multiprovider B. Is there a settings to bypass the Auth Check of this object in Multiprovider B.
Please Advise.
Thanks !Currently there is no EXCLUDE option in analysis authorizations,else it would have made life easy ,SAP is deemed to include this in future releases ..
So might want to try below -
create 2 AUTH objects - RSECADMIN.
say -
<b>Authorization object - A</b>
Select Multiprovider - X and select infoobject -x which you need authorization.
<b>Authorization object - B</b>
Select Multiprovider - Y and DONT select infoobject - x
Assign both the Authorization objects to the user in RSECADMIN.
execute the query.
Hope it Helps

Please help thanks. Adobe Digital Edition using across multiple computers
Hi
I have Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) installed on a laptop with Windows, and a Mac laptop.
I have authorized ADE on both machines. I use the laptops at different locations
Currently i have 2 separate libraries (small libraries of < 10 books) on both computers but I would like
to be able to keep both libraries in synch - such that the books and especially the notes/bookmarks
are the same when I read the book on both laptops.
For example what I want to be able to do is read and takes notes using ADE on the PC
and then when I logon to my Mac laptop - to read the same book, and continue where
I bookmarked last, and also see the notes I had added previously on the other laptop.
Is this possible? Thanks
your help is much appreciated. I read and take alot of side notes
and this will save heaps of time.
I am a new to ADE but it feels like each computer/laptop where ADE will hold
a different library, with different set of books and bookmarks. Is it possible
to synch the books/bookmarks/notes across different machines
Regards
AdamHello Sjpt
In windows xp serivce pack-2, ADE 2.0 is working perfectly for few days only, but after few days ADE 2.0 is not opening. I dont know why it is not opening? Can anyone tell me reason behind this?
If RUN>>MSCONFIG>GENERAL>DIAGNOSTIC STARTUP - LOAD BASIC DEVICES AND SERVICE ONLY > APPLY > OK and restarting the system then the ADE 2.0 is opening.
If RUN>> MSCONFIG>GENERAL>NORMAL STARTUP - LOAD ALL DEVICE DRIVERS AND SERVICES > APPLY > OK and restarting the system then the ADE 2.0 is NOT opening. As you people are well aware that we cannot use the diagnostic startup since it will allow basic service and devices only.
I have tried the following methods to overcome this issue (from internet)
1. Uninstall Adobe Digital Editions using one of these two methods:
Start > Programs > Adobe > Adobe Digital Editions > Uninstall
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs
2. Initiate Uninstall
3. In order to remove all remnants of Adobe Digital Editions / Adobe Adept from the machine a "Registry Edit" will need to be performed:
Start > Run > Regedit
4. Search for HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Adobe > Adept and Delete the full "Adept" folder
5. Remove only the structures that are under the "SOFTWARE" extensions. This will remove the Adobe ID / License and Activation Keys
6. Clear any outstanding tasks that may be associated to Adobe Digital Editions downloads
C:\data\my digital editions
C:\my documents\my digital editions
7. Delete any documents within these folders:
Restore > Tasks
Restore > Failed
8. Re-install Adobe Digital Editions
9. I have updated Windows xp from SP2 to SP3
The above methods didn't helped me to solve this issue. Then, i have used DIAGNOSTIC STARTUP and safe mode, it was opened, but not in normal user mode.

Issue with same order being modified in multiple sessions upon simultaneous multiple login.
Hi,
I am facing a issue in the following scenario.
1. User logs into the site from firefox and chrome browsers with the same login credentials simultaneously.
2. From Firefox session, the user removes some items from his cart.
3. Now the user refreshes the cart page in chrome. The console throws a "RemovedItemException" and the page breaks.
Reason:
This issue occurs since both the user sessions are referring the same order object. The session scoped ShoppingCart component object holds the references to the commerce items that have been modified / removed from the order in other session. Now when it tries to access these objects, it throws a "RemovedItemException". In our site the error gets thrown from the mincart page fragment which first tries to access the removed items. I can put a <c:catch> tag to wrap and catch the exception but how can this be gracefully handled?
Please provide any ideas, solutions or suggestions if you have encountered a similar issue.

TejasHi Nitin,
Thanks for the approach. However, this is an OOTB issue in CommerceReferenceStore module (was able to reproduce the same behavior in a OOTB CRS application as well) . The issue can occur not only when accessing a removed commeceitem but also during the checkout stages if user modifies the cart in a different session during checkout, the application would throw similar errors.
Is there a way using which i can reload the order object (something like refreshOrder pipeline) whenever i see a similar error? I did not find any OOTB droplet that can reload the order object from the DB.
Please suggest.
Thanks,

One iTunes account used across multiple computers
I have a few related questions:
1) I'm having trouble logging into my own iTunes account on my newest laptop. It says that too many devices are using the same account. Is there a limit on how many computers / devices can use an iTunes account? If so, how can I resolve this as many of the past computers I used iTunes on, have since crashed/ been discarded, but I didn't unload iTunes from it.
2) The main problem I am having is in backing up the books I have bought on my iPad on to my newest laptop. It is not letting my purchases sync with iTunes as it does not accept my accont credentials. So I am stuck with a bunch of books on my iPad that I am unable to share or backup.
3) Once the backup and sign in to iTunes is resolved, how do I share my iBooks with others? Is it possible to save them on a hard-drive as well in case my computer crashes?
Would appreciate your help on this!Authorization only applies to computers. When you update a device any protected content on the device for which the library is not authorised will be removed. Otherwise no attempt is made to remove content that was added by a now deauthorised library.
There is a separate scheme permitting up to 10 devices (computers, iPhones, iPad or iPod touches) to be registered for automatic downloads of your purchases with a different mechanism for deregistering devices.
Once you have a file on your computer you can physically copy it to any other computer in the same way that you would copy any other file like a Word document, put it on a disk, email it if not too large, burn it to DVD, stick it on an external hard drive or move it over a network. You can use Get Info. To tell you where it is now and you can drop it into the library at the other end.
The user tip shows how to backup the whole library and then update that backup efficiently. Such a backup to a portable drive also provides a possible tool for transporting any content to another computer.

How can I fully administrate a TC that is being used by multiple users
Each MacBook can now add or delete accounts users in the TC with the AirPort Utility. How can I decide who is the only administrator of the TC?
ThanksThe idea is if you set a password on the TC that nobody else knows,, they cannot change the settings because they cannot actually access the settings.
I repair TC and lots of them come in with password set. I can access the TC screen to see what is happening.. but I cannot change settings. Not unless I do soft reset.
If that isn't working for you, you are not setting the right password.
Set the main TC password.
Once you set that password .. any user attempting access will be asked for the password. Don't tell them. -
Process Chains across multiple BW instances?
We're considering to implement a "CIF" (corporate information factory) approach for BW, using mutiple BW layers (staging, storage, analysis, across regions). It seems to make sense from a performance management perspective.
However one concern is the administration / monitoring.
Can standard BW tools (e.g. process chains, admin cockpit) customized to be used across multiple BW instances (plus ideally OLTP reporting, which we also have)? Or would we end up having to log in to each system individually? My gut / understanding tells me it is the latter one, but would appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks!Hi Ingo,
Thanks for the information. I too have same scenario to work out.
Is there any possibility of automatic Source/server name conversion from system A to System B while copying all the Universes and Queries.
For Example: In BI we have an option to datasource server name change convention while transporting from one system to another system through out the landscape.
As you said in your reply, in life cycle manager, do we need to edit connection for each & every universe or any option for one and all universes.
Any documentation on this is appreciable...
Please provide me information.
Thanks in Advance.

A lot of memory is used when multiple tabs are open
Is there anything that can be done about the insane memory usage in Firefox when multiple tabs are open? I often have 20+ tabs open and the amount of RAM that Firefox uses when I have it open with this many tabs is just ridiculous. As an example of this, I just restarted Firefox after checking the Windows Task Manager. The Task manager said that Firefox was using 1.2 GB of RAM. I did have 32 tabs open, but this seems excessive even for this many tabs. Some of the tabs were image heavy, but none of them had any video in them. I'd think 10 MB per tab of RAM would be plenty to cover these kinds of pages, maybe 20 MB at most. The upper end of that range would be 640 MB of RAM. Instead, it appears to be using an average of 40 MB of RAM per page when this many tabs are open.
Is there anything that can be done to reduce amount of memory being used when multiple tabs are open? It really shouldn't need this much RAM to serve this many pages.Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

Forecast Roll-Over Script across multiple years
Hello Experts,
I currently have the below Script and Prompt but it only works for one Fiscal year and I need help changing it so that it can be used across multiple years, my issue is below:
If I have project TEST and it started in 2013.011 and ends in 2014.004, I have forecast values for all periods so when I run the script I'm prompted to "select forecast year" and "select forecast version based on previous period"
So when I run from 2013.11 (forecast version P11) to 2013.12 (forecast version P12) that works fine but it's not working to roll-over from 2013.012 to 2014.001
Any help is much appreciated.
Thx,
Shane

String should select multiple tag's
Dear All
my issue is , This is a form tag enquiry form query whcih should retrieve multiple tag number's, but it is showing only one tag number for the below query.
:tag_no := x.tag_number; on this para meter is should select all the tag number's from the request number.
:description := x.item_desc
:current_location := x.move_location ;
:last_location := x.tag_location ;
:mcr_no := x.request_number;
:technical_data := x.technical_data;
my concern is that it should select as many as tag's assosciated with the request number's
:tag_no := x.tag_number; it is showing only one tag, how should i change so that it display all the tag number's.
regards
arifuddin

Edited by: user11309801 on Feb 12, 2011 12:05 PMIt is always helpful to provide the following:
1. Oracle version (SELECT * FROM V$VERSION)
2. Sample data in the form of CREATE / INSERT statements.
3. Expected output
4. Explanation of expected output (A.K.A. "business logic")
5. Use \ tags for #2 and #3. See FAQ (Link on top right side) for details.

Using a custom tag with a 2.3 servlet descriptor BUG?
Hi,
I just developed a Custom Tag and I'd like to use in my jsps.
If I add the jsp in my JDev project with the custom tag when I try to build the project I got this error:
Error(11): oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParseException: Invalid element 'listener' in content of 'web-app', expected elements '[context-param, servlet, servlet-mapping, session-config, mime-mapping, welcome-file-list, error-page, taglib, resource-ref, security-constraint, login-config, security-role, env-entry, ejb-ref]'.
It seems like when the jsp parser encounters the line with taglib it tries to parse the web.xml against a 2.2 version of the dtd. My web.xml begins with the correct dtd version (2.3). Can anyone tell me if this is a bug and eventually tell me how to solve it?
thanks,
GiovanniI repost this issue again, now with a simple test case.
If I wrote a simple custom tag:
import java.io.IOException;
import javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.TagSupport;
public class MyCustomTag extends TagSupport {
public int doStartTag() {
try {
pageContext.getOut().print("FOO");
} catch (IOException ioe) {
pageContext.getServletContext().log(ioe.getMessage(),ioe);
return(SKIP_BODY);
with the associated tld:
<?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
<taglib>
<tlibversion>1.0</tlibversion>
<jspversion>1.2</jspversion>

all runs fine if I have a web.xml with the dtd version 2.2

I get the error I report in my last post. (the jsp doesn't compile) If I remove the custom tag from my jsp all works fine (filters, listeners,etc). In my project settings I use the 2.3 version of servlet.jar instead of the ServletRuntime that comes with JDeveloper.
Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue (Using simple custom tag with a web application using the 2.3 servlet specs)?
Thanks in advance,
Giovanni

How to get the tag of the User Defined Variables using the Get Tag method%3F
For the cRIO modules under a cRIO Chasis, a tag value can be obtained using the Get Tag method with crio.Type to the TagName input of the method. When it comes to the User Defined Variables, what should be fed to the TagName input?

Use of Multiple instances of the same browser...
Hi folks,
I have a question...
I have inherited a large APEX application, it uses Oracle SSO to log in.
We are migrating the application to a new set of servers and are running regression tests.
The testers are logging in using IE6 and opening multiple instances of the application at the same time on both the oldTest and newTest servers.
So at any one time, there can be:an application Admin user (username ADMINTEST123) logged into the application on oldTest
an application Admin user (username ADMINTEST123) logged into the application on newTest
an application standard user (username TEST123) logged into the application on oldTest
an application standard user (username TEST123) logged into the application on newTestIs this supported?
Could someone tell me or point me toward the documentation or thread that lists what is supported / unsupported for browser use with APEX and SSO?
Thanks in advance,
Gus..Hi lev,
thanks but sorry, that doesn't really help me, I'm talking about users and their logins, not developers using different browsers while developing apex.
Also, our users are locked down to IE6 for the foreseeable future.
Hi Scott,
I found the following quote from this web site http://aranea.zuavra.net/index.php/80/ about Cookie separation in modern browsers
*4.3. Internet Explorer 6.0*
Finally, Explorer is the one that introduces an interesting quirk. It too has separate settings per machine users, although it cannot make use of multiple profiles for the same user.
The interesting thing is the way it handles session cookies. Normally, long term a.k.a. non-session cookies are stored on disk in the user preferences. However, Explorer has a setting called “browse in new process” which, if enabled, forces a new session with each new window. That’s right, this means that every time you open a new Explorer window it opens a separate process, even though the windows belong to the same user! And, in turn, these processes will NOT share their session cookies.
Note: By “new window” I mean windows started from shortcuts, from Start Menu entries or by calling iexplore.exe directly somehow (from a file manager, for example). Windows started via Control+N or File/New window run in the same process and share session cookies. Also, please note that it’s a lot more likely for users to click their taskbar shortcut when they need a new window than it is to use the File menu or the Control+N shortcut.+
Furthermore, ever since version 5.0 the setting cannot be changed manually, by the user. It is automatically determined by the browser based on how much RAM the machine has. Anything with at least 32 MB of RAM gets the “one window, one process” behaviour, which nowadays means almost all machines.
I have tested the *"new window"* opening methods and found that for IE6 there is NO NEW PROCESS started when the user opens a new window in the following 3 ways:
from an open window, File>New>Window
from an open window, CTRL+N
from an open window, right click>Open in New Window
So from this can I conclude that from what you say and the results above we may get issues if users login and then open new windows in those ways?
Thanks,
Gus.. -
How to use multiple profiles within the same instance of Thunderbird
About a month ago, I had Thunderbird configured with three profiles,
and all three could be used within a single startup/instance of
Thunderbird. That PC is now gone. I have re-configured the three
profiles on a new PC, but am having trouble making all three
useable within the same instance of Thunderbird. Can you help?
Both PCs are/were Windows-7 64 bit.Thunderbird only opens on the default if one profile
or
if Profile Manager is instructed to ask at startup it will allow you to choose which Profile to open else it opens on the last Profile used..
So it shows one Profile at a time in one instance of Thunderbird.
However, one Profile can have many mail accounts.
eg: I run 4 mail accounts in one Profile. -
How do you configure the DAM so it can be shared across multiple CQ instances?
How do you configure the DAM so it can be shared across multiple CQ instances?
You can use shared datastore http://dev.day.com/content/kb/home/Crx/CrxSystemAdministration/HowToCombineTheDatastoreToP reserveDiskSpace.html multiple CQ instance will use same file system to share asset
clustering http://dev.day.com/docs/en/crx/current/administering/cluster.html multiple node will share repository.
But you can not have something like one DAM and then have different CQ instance pointing to it (As not everything goes in to one location in file system)
