14. Once my photos look the way I want, I then export them to JPEG. I have set up a Photoshop droplet for Lightroom that will then do all my sharpening after export.
That's it! I know it sounds like a lot of steps, but once you've done it a couple of times it goes by really quick. I'm really loving most things about Lightroom in terms of its cataloging and export options. But the image quality of the Lightroom raw conversions just isn't there yet. I've found by integrating both Capture NX and Lightroom I can get top quality results while still gaining advantage of Lightroom's many nice features. It took me a few days of exploration and experimentation to nail down the optimal workflow for my needs. Hopefully this will help some others out and maybe give them some ideas of their own toward a better workflow.
Please feel free to share your thoughts or own experience on all of this.
Thanks to Tony Long for his suggestion in this thread, which caused me to go on a search for the optimal Lightroom/Capture workflow: http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?7@@.3bc719df/3

  • Manual workflow with BUS2001.Create does not deliver an entitiy

    Hello!
    Could anyone help me with the following manual workflow please? Although I have red a lot of theory and I thought I have understood the principles of how to use the workflow builder it does not work. Could it be that I need to know more about ABAP-Programming? I would be very thankful for any tips as I need it for my diploma thesis. I work with SAP R/3 4.7 Enterprise. Here the description of the two-step workflow:
    After starting the workflow manual the user has to create a project definition (with transacion CJ06). After saving (in the second step) another user will get a workitem that shows the created entity (with transaction CJ08).
    First of all I have created a subtype Z_BUS2001 and have added the parameter PROJ-PSPID to the methods "ProjectDefinition.Create" and "ProjectDefinition.Display" (as import and export element).
    In my workflow I have defined the following bindings:
    1.     For the task “create”:
    mehod container to task container:
    &PROJECTDEFINITION& => &PROJECTDEFINITION&
    task container to workflow container
    &_WI_OBJECT_ID& => &Z_BUS2001&
    &PROJECTDEFINITION& => &PROJECTDEFINITION1&
    2.     For the task “display”:
    Workflow container to task container
    &Z_BUS2001&  => &_WI_OBJECT_ID&
    &PROJECTDEFINITION1& =>&PROJECTDEFINTION&
    Task container => method container
    &PROJECTDEFINITION& => &PROJECTDEFINITION&
    It is possible to execute the workflow. I mean the first step works, but the second step does not show the created Projectdefinition but the entrance screen. Is the binding incorrect or could it be that I have something more to do with the Z_BUS2001? Many thanks in advance for your help!
    Anna

    Hi Anna,
    1) With the Create method of BUS2054 (WBS) you need an existing project definition (you cannot create a project with transaction CJ11). The project definition entered is stored in the user memory using the SET statement and the Display method  GETs it from the memory. This works only if the same user is executing both the tasks in the same session.
    2) It is possible depending on what kind of Project Coding  Mask has been defined in your IMG. But it has to be more than the user name/id. Because once the user has created a project, another project with same name cannot be created. You will have to define your own Create method, say ZCreate, define a parameter to receive the WF initiator from the Task. In your method, get the element, generate a unique Project Def, and use the SET statement to set the parameter id PSP with your value. Similarly for the  Project def in the Template area, use parameter id VPS. Don't forget to define an element for the task to receive WF initiator, and the WF to step binding!
    HTH.
    Cheers,
    Ramki Maley.

  • IPod controls sometimes work with touch and sometimes not

    Anyone else having difficulty with the rewind, pause/play, fast forward buttons at the bottom of the ipod portrait screen.
    I'm playing an audiobook and many times the buttons don't respond. I can't predict when it will occur just before I press a button but it can happen easily. One time today it took 8 presses before the fast forward button activated.
    While it looks like I'm pressing the button it may be that the actual spot is not were I think it is, but then again I keep bumping into pressing and pressing and pressing until it works.

    It sounds to me like an issue with your iTunes, try un-installing the software and re-installing it and see what happens then. It seems a little odd that it won't recognise 2 iPods, so I highly doubt it is the iPods' fault.
    If it deosn't work after re-installing, take it to the Apple Store (with your computer, if it is portable) and they should be able to help out

  • ICloud control panel works with 1 ID but not with another

    I don't get what the issue is. I can't get the iCloud control panel to work with my itunes/iCloud ID. I am running Windows 7 home premium 64-bit. I logged in with my wife's iCloud account and it worked, logged out and tried to use mine and nothing. It just sits there and the little circle next to "sign in" just spins.
    I downloaded the newest update for the control panel and tried it again. Hers works, mine doesn't. This has been going on for about a  year and is really annoying.
    It is just on the control panel, my iCloud credentials work fine everywhere else (iCloud website, here, iPhone, iPad), so I know that is not the problem.

    Here's one way to simplify some of this code. I know that this has nothing to do w/ the original question, but nevetheless, it's an itch that I feel I have to scratch...
    public class ssnBoard extends JFrame implements ActionListener,
        Runnable
        JPanel pane = new JPanel();
        JButton[] numberBtns = new JButton[10];
        Font bigFont;
        Color[] numberButtonColors =
            Color.MAGENTA, Color.red, Color.pink, Color.blue, Color.yellow,
            Color.green, Color.yellow, Color.blue, Color.pink, Color.red
        JButton clear = new JButton("CLEAR");
        JButton cancel = new JButton("CANCEL");
        JTextField RutgersIDField = new JTextField("", 6);and this
            for (int i = 1; i < numberBtns.length; i++)
                pane.add(setUpNumberBtns(i));
            pane.add(setUpNumberBtns(0));
            clear.setFont(smallFont);
            Color c10 = Color.white;
            clear.setBackground(c10);
            clear.setForeground(Color.black);
            clear.addActionListener(this); // register button
            pane.add(clear);
            clear.setFocusable(false);and of course this:
        private JButton setUpNumberBtns(int i)
            JButton myBtn = numberBtns;
    myBtn.setFont(bigFont);
    myBtn.setBackground(numberButtonColors[i]);
    myBtn.setForeground(Color.black);
    myBtn.addActionListener(this);
    myBtn.setFocusable(false);
    return myBtn;

  • The remote control which comes with FX5600-VTDR256 is not functioning

    Hi,
    I just bought FX5600-VTDR256 card and installed MSI Media Center Deluxe II. Everything works fine except the remote control. It isn't working at all.
    By the way, I installed the Video Adapter driver from NVidia (ver 52.13). Has it anything to do with it?

    I've already checked the batteries and the IR reciever is plugged in correctly before I send this message. For the batteries, I tried swapping from my mouse. For the IR receiver, I tried plugging in the Video Input and I get the picture on the screen.

    No offense is intended at sighting the obvious but you'd be surprised
    Video Drivers shouldn't affect it but I haven't the pruduct in my grubby hands to verify. I hate to recommend drvers off of the CD or from the MSI website but it's the only way to be sure. These are the only instances I would consider recommending this and I would do it myself to remove any doubt.

  • Creating physical standby db through grid control 11g fails with "default listener is not running"

    On step 4/6, i am getting error like below
    ErrorExamine and correct the following error(s), then re-try the operation.Default Listener in Grid Infrastructure - The default listener in the grid infrastucture is not running.
    I have the listener running on grid user and grid home, 11.2 in both primary and standby.
    During these steps till 4, its no where asked for grid user password.
    Not sure how it will detect the grid home listener.
    Listener is running with default port 1521 on both the servers primary and standby
    On the step 4 screen the other option for default listener is non-default listener and its pointing to db home and not grid home.
    So i guess oracle is looking for the listener to be up on the db home and not on grid home causing the issues,
    if so how to fix this ?
    I am using role separation, separate user for grid and oracle homes grid and oracle user and all are on 11.2.0.1 db + grid

  • Issues with Workflow 1.0.

    Some time before it is hard coded alerts@workflow email id and now it looks to be the time for errors with the procedures and workflow method issues. All of a sudden from yesterday we started finding error ("The procedure "GetInstances"
    has no parameter named "@OtherWorkflowStatus".) logged into event viewer when ever we access workflows. It seems obvious that parameter doesn't exist in the GetInstances SP and code is trying to send out a value to the Parameter assuming that it
    is present. The way Microsoft teams going a head with development of workflows with these kind of issues seems to be bit surprising for people who is trying to start getting hands-on with SharePoint 2013 and Workflow 1.0 which is moved into Azure platform.
    This definitely shows lack of co-ordination between teams of Microsoft or Microsoft seems to be waiting for these issues to be reported from so called privileged Beta-Testers or Developer community. Whats more surprising is that Microsoft Teams doesn't even
    respond or specify this as known bug with the steps to solve. I feel Microsoft should at-least start responding now, other wise enterprise clients may start thinking of delaying the migrations from one version of applications to updated versions till the version
    is completely stable, in Microsoft's case it would be next to next release only.

    Thanks for your response.
    No it still didnt work, we right clicked the users OU, provided read permissions on it directly not from any groups. as well as for computers OU.
    For me it is not showing invalid user, but wizard crashes as soon as we enter the service account details in the wizard. may be since the solution you are providing is not working for me.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/d70662fc-8e10-4862-975d-e441bf9c32f0/what-permission-does-the-service-account-requires-on-ad-for-the-workflow-manager-10-to-be?forum=sharepointadmin
    However we had one other test account which has full control on many areas is able to pass thru in this wizard with out crashing.
    We arent able to get the same permissions applied for prod account as it isnt right to simply take elevated permissions full control on AD Objects.
    Windows/AD team is looking for specific permission which this workflow manager requires to provide access.
    I dont see this documented with microsoft Either.
    SQL DB creation ability, Domain Account, Farm admin - is the criteria i believe.

  • RAW editing workflow with Photoshop Elements 6

    I have been using the following workflow with RAW images in iPhoto and editing them in Photoshop Elements 6. It seems to be working fine. Does anyone see a problem with my workflow???
    I choose to edit in external editor (Elements 6), and the image opens in Camera Raw. I make my edits here because I really like the editing power of Camera Raw. After I am finished, I chose Save As and choose jpeg. The save dialog tries to save back to the Originals folder in the iPhoto Library that the RAW file came from, so I simply choose the appropriate event in the Modified folder and save it there. It replaces the jpeg that iPhoto had created when the original RAW file was imported. When I go back to iPhoto the changes are applied.
    Now I realize that I can't reopen the original RAW file again in Elements without reverting to original, but that is usually not an issue. I also realize that messing with the iPhoto Library outside of iPhoto can be dangerous. Another drawback is that I haven't been able to open multiple RAW photos from iPhoto into Camera Raw so I can apply changes all at once.
    But I can't see anything wrong with the workflow. Am I on the right track, or am I missing something?

    No, I don't believe you can do that with RAW editing. By manually replacing the first modified version with your RAW edited version iPhoto will not update the thumbnail. You will be able to see the edited version if you go to the edit mode or full screen mode. But the thumbnail will not be identical. If that's OK with you then you should be able to go with that workflow.
    If the edits are significant enough you might want to save the new file to the desktop and import as a new file.
    You can try this on a copy of the iPhoto Library. Open the library package and move the contents of the Data folder to the trash along with the Thumb32Segment.data, Thumb642Segment.data and ThumbJPGSegment.data files. Then launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options. This will rebuild the thumbnail files and my reflect your edited versions. Again, make a backup copy of the library before trying this.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
    Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Integration of ABAP workflow with portal

    Hello Experts,
    Need urgent help on UWL configuration.
    We have integrated our ABAP workflow with portal through UWL.
    We have a Ad Hoc link in the ABAP workflow which takes us to some transaction. For some reason we are not able to view that link when we see this workflow through portal.
    1. Is is possible to show any Ad hoc links from ABAP workflow into portals?
    2. If yes, what is the process for the same? We did not get any relevant documents.
    Any inputs/sugessions are most welcome.

  • New Nikon Workflow with Lightroom

    Just thought I would share my new workflow with everyone, in case anyone is not happy with the raw conversion provided by Lightroom and would rather use Capture NX to do the raw conversion on their files, but still use Lightroom for cataloging and ranking their photos (as well as exporting for web, etc).
    1. Copy all photos from memory card into a folder on your computer.
    2. Import the photos from your filesystem, using the "Copy photos to a new location and import" option. This is so you can work with a copy of the original, rather than the original.
    3. Do your normal process for choosing which photos you would like to take the time to process, and which you would like to just throw away. I use the pick/rejected flags for mine.
    4. Filter your photos by flag status, so only the picks are showing.
    5. Export your picks to a temporary folder somewhere. This is where you will do all your Capture NX processing. I call this folder "Lightroom to Capture Transfer". You want to choose the option to export the original file. I created an export preset called "Export For Capture NX" with these settings in it to make it easier in the future.
    6. Open the "Lightroom to Capture Transfer" folder in Capture NX using the built in file browser, and do all your raw adjustments to exposure compensation, white balance and noise reduction. All of which I find works better in Capture than in Lightroom. Save all your changes back into the same NEF file since Capture can save to the NEF format. Remember this file is just a copy of the original so we don't need to worry about making changes to our original raw file here. NOTE: Do NOT apply any sharpening here inside Capture since sharpening should be done at the end of your workflow. I shoot with my camera sharpening set to "None". If you haven't done this, you should set all your photos to sharpening "None" as part of your batch process in step 8 below.
    7. Set up a watched folder in Lightroom called "Lightroom Auto Imported Photos", and enable Auto Import.
    8. In Capture, create a batch process you can use to convert all your adjusted raw NEFs to tiff format. You will point the batch export to your Lightroom watched folder. As Capture batch converts all your raws to tiff, Lightroom will be importing them into your catalog.
    9. Now you should have a folder inside your Lightroom catalog called "Lightroom Auto Imported Photos". Open that folder, select ALL the photos in the folder and hit "P" to mark them all as picks. Trust me on this one. =)
    10. Now within Lightroom, drag all the photos at once into the folder containing your imported photos from step 2. You should see all your tiffs beside all your raw NEFs. And since you have a filter turned on to only show your picks in this folder, all your other non pick original raw files will be hidden.
    11. Again, select ALL the photos in this folder and "Stacking -> Auto Stack by Capture Time." In the dialog, drag the slider down to 1 second. This should for the most part stack all the same nefs with the corresponding tiffs. Unless you were doing a ton of burst shooting. In which case you can manually stack them. Lightroom seems to always put the original NEFs on the top of the stack.
    12. Select all the photos again, and "Stacking -> Move Down in Stack". This will bring all your processed tiffs to the top of the stack, and hide the nefs. This is exactly what you want. From here on out, you will be working on the tiffs.
    13. Do any final processing to your photos inside Lightroom. Saturation, cropping, spot removal, etc. I also do all my key-wording here. NOTE: I do not do ANY sharpening inside Lightroom because I've found the sharpening just doesn't do it for me personally. I will do all sharpening later in Photoshop after I export them from Lightroom. Your mileage may vary.
    14. Once my photos look the way I want, I then export them to JPEG. I have set up a Photoshop droplet fo

  • Much faster SpeedGrade workflow with new 7.1 update

    Thanks Adobe team, with this new upgrade, it is much easier to open Premiere Pro timelines in SpeedGrade and get started.
    Ever since SpeedGrade came out, I always considered it as a great tool for the future, but never felt it was "ready" until this new 7.1 upgrade.  It has always been a very powerful colour grading tool, but you had to convert your video files which would take forever on my computer.  I tried converting a 2 minute video in the beginning, and it gave me an 8 hour estimate, so I just clicked cancelled.
    Thankfully Adobe fixed that, and you can now natively open Adobe Premiere Pro timelines right into Adobe SpeedGrade, and skip the conversion.  It now takes a few seconds to open a timeline in SpeedGrade, and about 2 seconds to save the results once you're done.  After that, you're all set to open Adobe Premiere and compose the output of your video.
    This gives you quick and easy access to a very powerful color correction tool, and is included in the Adobe Creative Cloud membership.
    In this video, I show the new and improved workflow for Adobe SpeedGrade which now allows you to very quickly color grade your projects to improve the colours.
    http://www.studiojpic.com/adobe-speedgrade-cc-7-1-new-and-improved-workflow-with-october-2 013-update/

    Yeah, I'm just going to go ahead and agree with you guys on this.
    Super easy workflow.  No workarounds or anything.  And you don't have to have a ridiculously spec'd system to playback your footage!  It almost feels like I'm cheating.
    Don't get me wrong, there are still a ton of things I have on the wishlist (curves, interface options, better scopes, better tracking for masks), but this was the HUGE number one item.  I'm sure everything else will improve in time.  It's just great to see that Patrick and his team are working hard to make these improvements for all of us.

  • Tapeless workflow with FCP 5 and Canon XL H1

    Is it possible to establish a tapeless workflow with FCP 5 and a Canon XL H1 shooting in HD mode?
    We have to shoot many days of lectures and want to skip the import of the footage. The firestore FS-C can only record up to 7.5 hours in HD but we don't have the time to empty it overnight so it can be available the next day...
    We can connect a couple of 500 GB lacie to a 17" Macbook Pro and wanted to use FCP to live capture from the camera. Is that possible?
    Or did anyone try to do that with the Canon Console software (windows only) and then import its stream in FCP?
    Thanks

    No time to unload a drive when you have all night? Why would that be? Isn't this just a big drag and drop? Can't let it start and go to dinner?
    If you shoot HDV you should also record it to tape becuase disk drives can fail etc during the shoot.
    You can capture live from the camera's FW port but again I'd shoot tape as well... use capture now but also use the device control that works with that camera to get the TC thru too. (probably FW HDV basic)
    The camera also has an uncompressed output but that would take a capture card and fast disk array (faster than FW for sure) to capture the uncompressed HD.

  • ABAP Objects with Workflows / Classes and Instances

    Hello,
    I am currently designing a workflow using an ABAP-Objects. So far I have been been able to get my Workflow to run with my class, but I have a couple of problems:
    - I am using the Function 'SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW' to start other subflows, which enables me to decide which subflow to start at runtime. All of the subflows have standart importing-parameters in their containers, such as the key of my class. In each workflow I instantiate my class using a self-written method, which checks the table T_INSTANCES in my object, and then either returns the object reference to an existing instance or creates a new one. Obviously all of the subflows that I call from my main workflow should be able to find the instance. As far as I can see in their protocolls, this happens without any problems. The problem starts when I make changes to the instance. For example the changing of attributes (with setter methods) seems not to work. After the subflows are finished, in my main workflow, I do not see (with getter methods) any changes that has been made to the object. Is local persistence really limited to one workflow ?
    - My second problem is basically about the workflow container in workflow protocoll. In the same workflow, I can change the attributes of my object. Nevertheless, the protocoll always show the initial attribute, even though, my task with the getter-method returns the new value of the attribute.
    I appreciate any help and thanks a lot in advance.

    Hello Pauls,
    Thank you for your answer. I think we are misunderstanding each other. The problem occurs (I think) because my class is not a singleton class. Or am I mistaken ?
    When I directly start a subflow from my main workflow, then the instance that I have created in my main workflow is also visible to the subflow. As well as the static table which actually keeps track of the instances. So, in this case the subflows finds the instance and then can use the object as is.
    When I start a subflow from my main workflow using the function I mentioned above, then even though the same object key is used, there is a new instance. And the static table (I assume that you mean a static variable from type table, when you say "class table") is completely empty. In this case, my "new" instance is created which overwrites every attribute that I have set in the main workflow, before I started the subflow. More interestingly, my main workflow instantiates another new object, as soon as the subflow has finished. (I am using an event to wait for the subflow to finish.)
    On the other hand, I am not quite sure that I understood your approach with refresh and how it could help me. This method is not well documented anywhere, and all of the examples that I have found are about "leave it empty"
    As far as I understood, this method is called by the workflow between the steps, when an object is used. I slowly start to think that I need advanced information about Workflows and Memory Management.
    Thanks a lot again. Apparently, I am the only person who came across such a problem
