I think that the iPod Nano and Video have two different sized connectors, so it might not work...you might want to check that. It's a shame that they don't include a charger with the thing anymore. But then again, if you have the USB cord (that likis your iPod with your computer) then you could bring your cord and use you cousin's little charger thing (the white part that plugs into the wall). Since that part can disconnect from the cort to sync with the computer, you could just swap with your cousin's charger (using different cords). Hope that helps!

I was thinking of the iPod Classic but somebody told me that if I use it to exercise you will hear kips, jumps, etc. from the moving parts. that as my first choice because it appeared to have the minimal belles and whistles. So, if that is the truth, anybody recommend a good little iPod that is easy to use (I broke my first 2 when they first came out and I never went back...UNTIL, NOW! Apparently I installed the software when it did not need to be installed.
Also, I think earphones are critical as far as the quality of the sound. I am NOT a BOSE fan, so if anybody has a recommendation on a good or great recommendation of earphones that cold be used exercising, I would appreciate it.
finally, any pointers. I am not sure I would even know how to get it hooked up to my computer to get the music on the thing. s it possible to put CDs on it or do I have to get those on iTunes first and than on the iPod?
thanks for any help I get, especially some help is deciding what model to get. I am not into fancy colors, will not use the video but I guess mot of them have this now, but sound quality I am a fanatic about. Anything that will enhance the sound quality would be a great help.
Again, in advance, I thank you.

    cd => itunes => ipod
the ipod gets it's must from itunes. So if you have a cd, you would open itunes, insert the cd. at witch point itunes would ask if you want the music imported. After that, if you plug the ipod in. itunes will ask to pair the ipod with the computer and sync. if you click apply the music in itunes is put on the ipod.
You can download itunes here. http://www.apple.com/itunes/
Every ipod has strengths. the classic is really good for holding copiously large amounts of music. If your have a huge cd collection, because the ipod classic can hold about 3,333 CDs. If you have this much , and want it all on the go, then this is the right ipod for you.
But if you don't have a super large collection of music. say under 333 CDs, Your paying allot for storage your not going to use. And for sports, it's kind of large. Not to mention the ipod is heavy.
It has about 36 hours of music play back per charge.
If you want simple. the shuffle is great. It will hold about 41 cds. It's so light weight, you'll probable not even notice that it's there, even if your running. The only down side is that it's really simple to use. It dose not have wheel. it just has a few buttons. pause/play/next/previous and volume control. This is my favorite ipod for sports.
It has about 6 hours of music play back per charge. that's good enough for a long run or a couple trips to the gym.
For sports, the nano is also a great option. It's like the ipod classic, with that simple interface. the larger size can hold about 333 CDs. That's allot of hours of music. It also has a radio, witch can be great if your gym has tv that require a radio to listen in.
Plus because it's small, it'll be great for running around. Sure it has a camera, but you don't have to use that, and you can always go with simple silver.
It has about 24 hours of music play back per charge. Witch is more then enough for a week at the gym.
It's also compatible with nike+. witch means with the right shoes, you could track runs/walks.
To learn more i would recommend the compare page http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_ipod/family/ click on any ipod, and then click on the compare button.
As for ear phones. I know from my own experiences earphones take allot of abuse. Especially while running or the gym. the nike ear phones hold up well, and if they fail, they're only like 24 dollars for a new set. Most of the nike headset use ether wrap around the ear or head to keep from falling out. Witch will work great with a nano or classic.
Personally I like in ear headphones. They do take a bit to get use to, but ones you do, they have better sound. Because they're in ear, they do a great job of blocking out wind. Say if you live near the beach, or a gym, or work some place noisy. Sony makes a cheap set.
I like the Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote. It has great sound, because it has tweeters and base. The in ear headphones stay in my ears when I rock climb, roller-blad, cycle, run, even upside down.
The built in volume/pause/play/next controls means it works with the shuffle, nano.

  • Lost iPod Nano, can I track down who has it?

I just lost my iPod Nano on the bike path. Is there a way to find out who has it? I can see someone is syncing the Nano on the Nike+ website so I know some has it.

    Unfortunately there is not.

  • Sharing Ipod content with Family members

We are a family of 6 - my husband has an ipod touch, my oldest daughter has a ipod classic and the new ipod nano - my youngest son has an ipod touch and ipod nano and my youngest daughter has an ipod classic and ipod shuffle. My question is how to share purchased material from itunes between all the ipods. My youngest daugter has a lot of purchased movies - my son has a lot of purchased games and we would love to share. Everyone has different ipod accounts due to gift cards they have recieved with their ipods. Is there anyway to link the accounts so everyone in our home can share?

One thing you left out, how many PCs are involved in all of this?
Also, how long has everyone had their itunes library, do they have a lot of times investing in ratings and play counts? The best way is to make sure all media is stored in one shared folder that all can access. But don't just move files around in windows explorer, or itunes will lose the paths to them.

  • Child's ipod not showing family members in family sharing

My son (age 9) just got an iPod touch. I set him up with an Apple ID as a child. And I set up family sharing so he can access my apps and music. He shows up under family sharing in iCloud for me and i can see his purchases, but when i go under purchases on his iPod, I don't show up. In fact, nothing does, not even his own purchases. Any thoughts on why this might be? I've tried logging in and out of the app store, itunes and icloud. I've also tried reseting the ipod.

  • IPod Touch No Longer Sees Home Network - Has Been Fine For The Past Year!

Tried to connect my ipod to the internet this morning and it connected fine, then the signal dropped out and back in again.
It did the hokey cokey for a while before dissconnecting all together, now it wont even see the SSID of my network.
Ive tried reseting the network settings, reseting the ipod, inputting the nework info manualy and deleting recently downloaded apps.
I went through all the info on the apple website and followed the instructions etc.
I havnt changed anything on my router or ipod and all my other devices connect fine (2nd ipod touch, laptop etc).
On a couple of occasions it has seen my network and ive managed to connect only for it to dissapear again seconds later!
Reset my router (Netgear DG834g) and disabled the security, it saw the network so I selected it and the 'tick' came up by its name but the iPod wasnt assigned an IP or DNS etc then it said 'cannot connect to network (network name)'.
Now on a couple of occasions the ipod has lost its mac address and had no wi-fi options what so ever!
    Any help would be appreciated.

Exactly the same issue for me, this is a replacement iPod I got 3 days ago due to a battery issue.. it has been working perfectly since I got the replacement iPod touch, but now, it picks up no networks at all even though there are at least 4 nearby which it used to pickup.. If I take my iPod right next to the router I get a single bar signal but get the "could not connect to the internet" error and the network is disconnected. I am taking my iPod to the nearest Apple store tomorrow. It's an iPod touch 1g 8GB by the way..
EDIT: And I have tried it on 3 different networks, at college and at home and doesn't pick up any of them, so I highly doubt it's a router issue..

  • Family Sharing not showing Organizer's Purchases for other family members

I have enabled Family Sharing on my device as the Organizer and added my wife's Apple ID to my list of family members.  She has accepted the invitation on her end and we both see each other in the Family Sharing list within Settings->iCloud->Family Sharing.  If I go to the App Store (remember, I'm the organizer), and I choose Updates->Purchased->Family Purchases (choosing my wife's Apple ID) I can see all the apps she's purchased.  It won't work the other way around, though.  If she goes to the App Store and tries to view my purchases, she gets a blank screen.
I have already checked to see if I'm hiding purchases, I'm not.  In Settings->iCloud->Family Sharing->Me, I have Share My Purchases enabled.  I've signed in and out of iCloud, and she's done the same.  I've confirmed my Apple ID, and she's done the same.  We can't figure it out.  Why in the world is she a part of the Family Sharing group, but we can't get it so she can view my purchased apps?

I have the same issue. I can see my wife's purchases but on her phone, it says that I have no purchases. I also tried If you don't see your family's shared content - Apple Support and disabling family sharing and re-inviting her. I would also like to know how to fix this.

  • 2 computers, 5 family members with their own iTunes accounts. How do we share purchased iTunes and downloaded CDs with homeshare? (I can't get my old iPod music to all go onto my iPad)

    I have 2 computers - Windows Based
My husband, myself and the kids all have our own "accounts" on the home computer. This was done to limit certain access when the kids were younger.
The laptop is pretty much mine. I use both computers for my iTunes music.
Everyone has their own iTunes account for their music and games. I have been able to get music purchased by my other family members on my iPod in the past if I logged in the home computer under their IDs and attached my iPod. Or, if a family member downloaded a CD, I could get that music thes same way without having to download the CD again under my own login ID. However, I now have an iPad, and I can't transfer music from the iPod to the iPad - specifically that which was downloaded from CDs - not iTunes. And I couldn't get it to go from my iPod to my laptop, although both are authorized computers in the Home Sharing.
It doesn't seem like the Home Sharing works with the different computer login IDs. The iTunes is universally available regardless of who is logged in, but the libraries vary based on who's user name you are under. I have strugged with importing from one User ID to another, which led me to simply log in under a different family member to get the desired music. There has got to be an easier answer and I'm just not figuring it out.
I've read the support answers, I've read many of the other responses here as well to those with similiar questions, but I am still struggling.
    Any suggestions?

If you are completely confident that you didn't hide it, then you purchased those with different apple id. If you completely confident that you purchases with same apple id then you have hidden it. One of the other or you are speaking about a miracle. While miracles are possible they are not very likely. • When one or more family members who have been sharing one iTunes account wants to create their own iTunes account can they each upload the music/apps from the shared iTunes on their devices to the new iTunes account?

When one or more family members who have been sharing one iTunes account wants to create their own iTunes account can they each upload the music/apps from the shared iTunes on their devices to the new iTunes account?

Yes. I would clarify your statement about the "shared" iTunes Library though. If you want each iOS device to have its own music library, you should create separate user accounts for them. Read:
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
How to use multiple iPods, iPads, or iPhones with one computer

  • TS2972 What is the point of Home Share if all devices must have the same Apple ID?  Three family members in this home would like to use the facility but all have different Apple IDs.

Three family members use ITunes and would like to use Home Share but the HOme Share set-up guidance states that all devices must use the same Apple  ID.
Is there a workaround for this impasse?

  • How can i add songs to a family members ipod without erasing existing songs

How can i add songs to a family members ipod without erasing her existing song list.

For future reference, since I came here for the same reason, I'd like to add to the solution.  The link was not complete in explaining how to, but then again I'll just trying to attempt to fill in the gap.
After opening iTunes, on the upper left hand side is a small icon with an arrow pointing down. Click on the arrow and a menu pops out.  Click on "Show Menu Bar."  On the new bar(Older iTunes File, Edit, View, Controls, etc. bar at the top).  Click on View and then Show Side Bar.  There you can just click and drag new songs into your iDevice without any problems... hopefully...
Seriously, this helped me, so if Apple finds a way to not allow me to do this simple task of adding purchased songs into my idevices from another computer, I'll have to resort to other means.
The one idevice that's having trouble with is my iShuffle(2nd).

When I am home, calls to my iPhone 5 also go to my other family members' iPhones.  How  can I get this to stop happening?

Or better yet, create and use new Apple IDs for others in your household. You could always use different Apple IDs for iCloud services (like iMessage and FaceTime) and iTunes and App Store., but it's even easier to share purchased content now with Family Sharing.

  • My Apple TV can control all the apple devices in my home including my other family members devices why?

My Apple TV can control all the apple devices in my home including my other family members devices why? I have home sharing on so my MacBook pro, iPad, and iPhone can be put on my tv. How do I only contol my devices?

Lots of questions but essentially you want to try three steps:
Reset the power on the device
    - issue continue?
Reset all settings from: Settings > General > Reset all settings > Reset All Settings
    - issue continue?
Restore the devices software: Settings > General > Restore > Retore
    - issue continue?
You likely have a hardware issue. Visit an Apple Retail Store
