Target link to layer

I put a link on a page. I would like this link to open not in
the same window, not in a new window but in a layer inside this
same page. How do I do this?

Be aware that this is a dangerous thing to do. I don't

Why if using a composition widget as a dropdown target links fade if they extend over a text area

I am working on a site using the composition widget for a drop down menu. I find that if the target links extend over a text area, they fade out before one can click the link and while this can be overcome for desktop and tablet layouts, it cannot for phone layouts. The link below shows the issue. Any suggestions?

Target Links Launch in New Tab

Hi everyone,
I would like to set up my windows version of safari 4 to launch target links in a new tab rather than a new window.
The process seems very simple using mac versions of safari, by a small modification through terminal "defaults write com.apple.Safari TargetedClicksCreateTabs -bool true"

It actually did not work for me either.
It seems that i can't save the new command to the file. Even though i click on save, the command isn't there when i open the plist file again.
I'll keep at it and will post a comment if i get it to work

Target link to an iframe

I asked this question in another way for some time. But I think I did not know explain my problem very well.
In my project I have an iframe, and I want to open a link in that iframe. But with a button which is outside the iframe. I thought that putting the name of the iframe in the target area might work. And in Safari work, but not in Firefox and Internet Explorer. These browsers opens the link in a new window, even changing the name in the target. I would appreciate any help

I might be able to help. One way to do what you are describing is to create a symbol, and call it say "container". When you want some action to occur within that container, use a code simillar to this on the 'click' portion of the button:

This will load "thelinkyouwanttoload.html" into the container. If you want the container to load with something before any click action occurs, put the same code in the stage dialog box using the action 'creationcomplete' instead of 'click'. It should be up on the property window next to the label, towards the upper left corner of the screen. Hope this helps. Here is a more detailed tutorial.

Linking photo layer and name layer

I am producing a large number of memorymates and would like to link the individual photo layer with the corresponding name layer to simplify printing. Is this practical in cs4?

I would also look at Layer Sets, where the student's image Layer and their Text Layer would be grouped and linked, and their name can be used in the Layer Set too.
This is rather like a DVD/BD Menu, where each Button is a Layer Set, and all Assets for that Button, graphics, Text, Shapes, Sub-picture Highlight Layer, etc., will be grouped inside that Layer Set. The Layer Sets are automatically named Button 1, Button 2, etc., but one can easily change those to say, Scene 01, etc.

PS you can even assign separate colors to the Layer Set icons, to help you identify them, if you wish. Say yellow for the top row of students, green for the next, and so on.

Targeting links in IWEB (_blank,_top, etc.)

When coding in HTML or using a program like Dreamweaver to write the code, one can add the "Target" attribute to a link to control whether that link opens in a new window (target="_blank"), in place of the old page, (target="_self"), or on the "_top" or "_parent" levels. Is it possible to do this in IWeb? When I'm adding a link to an external URL, I'd like to be able to have it open in a new window ("_blank"). I suppose I could export my site via IWeb to a folder, add the target attributes myself, and then upload the files to my .mac account. But then I'd lose some of the other functionality Iweb permits when publishing directly to .mac. Suggestions?

Content target link opens in a new window!!

i'm designing this HTML website with dreamweaver 8, it's a
frameset devided into 3 frames top frame(navigation) , left frame
(ads) and right/middle frame (content frame) and i have the flash
navigation menu placed on the top frame, when a link is clicked it
should be opened in the same page in the content frame(parent
target) anyway it was working fine untill i upgraded the IE6 to IE7
now it opens in another page (blank target) although i specified in
the flash coding that the link is targeted in the content frame.

Help with linking a layer to motion tracked video

Not sure of the best way to describe this. I have a video with shadow in it which only moves slightly when camera pans a little.
Ive created a static image and removed the shadow in photoshop although could have probably done that using the clone stamp in AE.
However, the problem I have is that when the photoshop image is imported and I create the mask around the image where my shadow is on the video, the image is not tracked or linked to the video... How do I link it to the motion tracked video so that it moves with the video ?

Yeah one below.. What you will see is the photoshop file, then the null layer followed by the original footage. In effect I need the photoshop image to track the movement of the camera as when I currently play the video, when the camera moves it looks as though a chunk of grass (the mask) is moving different from the rest of the scene.

How to link audio layer of audio spectrum?

I have a couple of audio spectrums and I was wandering if I could link the audio layers of all the audio spectrums so I didn't have to manually choose each audio layer when it's the same. Thanks!

Nope. Since that particular control doesn't have a stopwatch, it can't be linked with expressions. Still, nothing stops you from having audio in a pre-comp, referencing that pre-comp in the effects and swapping the audio in the pre-comp when needed...

Creating Target links from iweb blog

how can i create a link that will open a new window and not navigate from my blog? iweb automatically inserts 'http://' and if i add a link like
'jack johson - do you remember'
iweb reads it as: http://<a href="http....
this option should be a must have for any blog software. so how can i do it in iweb??

Welcome to the discussions, tcameron.
Right now, there's no way to do this from within iWeb, though if you know how to edit the HTML, you can always change it on the server.

Frames Target Link problem

I am working on a website and am having trouble with a link
that will be clicked in one frame and opened in another frame. For
some reason it isn't working. I don't want it to open a new window,
I want it to open the page in the bottom frame.
I only have one link setup (the "In Memoriam" link button)
that I've been trying but it opens in a new window.

Can you link a layer with a path?

So that when you resize your object in the layer the path resizes with the object in the layer automatically.

Layer > Vector Mask > Current Path

AppleScript - Get links from one layer

I need to make a list of linked files from one InDesign layer only but can't figure out how.
This is my base that works just fine but gives me a list of all linked files in my document.

Link target display.?

Hi
I am linking between two pdt. documnets using the link tool.
I can use a lot of graphical tools in the link creation task, but in the target display I can only choose "go to page"
This opens up a new document and jumps to the correct page, but I have no indication on the location of the target link on hte page.
Is there a way to highligth the target link by a flashing box or a jpeg symbol for 10 sec.or something else.?
Please guide me in the rigth direction.

Not yet, the company uses yahoo.com as a webhost and there's really no way to put my pages online before they give me the go ahead on launching on our own server. The whole reason I'm rebuilding it is that they're tired of not having any kind of control over how it's structured or its appearance.
My end goal is that three column layout, where clicking in the left displays info in the middle, and clicking the middle brings up more on the right. What I'm really trying to do is find a way to keep the display on the main page and find a way to automate and streamline the browsing. That and loading smaller segments into the same page is usually faster for the customers than waiting for each page to load when they click on it. Right now I'm looking into using a database with the inventory info / pictures (also starting from scratch), and finding a way to just query from that.
Otherwise I have to go long hand and build individual pages for 1100+ various products and link them all one at a time.
My biggest challenges are that I'm not sure how to use the database once it's built (setting a link to draw the product name and picture, and then if they click on that, the third column shows the other pictures and the full description), and I'm not really sure how I can target my links at the div tags. I'm trying to automate this as much as possible because once it's launched, I'm one of two people that the company has to keep the whole thing running. I can build pages off of the template for the sake of appearance, but the rest is a bit unclear. Do I need JavaScript or something to make that work? Or do I just have to build the links and plug the rest into the database? I forgot to mention that I'm using CS5 by the way.
Any advice at all is most appreciated.

Error when importing business layer using the eulpi

Hi there,
I have a problem importing a new business area into my TEST EUL environment from my DEV EUL. (they are on different databases, i.e. one EUL for each database but all databases are identical apart from database name).
i.e. 1st I export the business area from DEV using the following command:
eulapi -connect username/password@${DATABASE} -export ${EXP_FILE} -business_area "${BUS_AREA}" -identifier -log ${LOG_FILE} -audit_info
and it works perfectly, and I can import the resulting Business area file into a new EUL if the Business area already exists, however, if the business area does not exist on the TEST eul then I get the following error using the command:
eulapi -connect username/password@${DATABASE} -import ${EXP_FILE} -identifier -preserve_workbook_owner -import_rename_mode refresh -log ${LOG_FILE}
Could not locate the Folder with identifier 'XXXXX' in the target End User Layer
Import completed, but with warnings. Please check the result.
This command works to replace the business area if it already exists, but fails if the business area does not already exist, which is actually what I want to do, i.e. create business area in DEV and export it and then import to TEST as part of the test cycle.
The above command actually creates the business area but not the underlying folder. All permissions, database links etc on both DEV and TEST environments are identical.

The export of the business area contains details of the business area and which folders are contained in the business area, but not the details of the folders themselves.
Hence if you import a new business area and the folders contained in the BA are not in the EUL you will get an error locating the folder.
Therefore to create a new BA you need to export all the folders in the BA and then export the BA itself. Then when you import you need to import the new folders first, then the BA.
