TAX Caculation for a GL Account

Salam / Hello,
Dear SAP Members,
Back again with a new issue
The problem I am facing is that, client wants to calculate tax for a GL account. The scenario is as follows:
Client at first used to treat sales commission to employee as a vendor payable. For that they had created a vendor account and used to pass entries and make payments through that. The tax used to be deducted and there were no issues.
Now what has happened is that the client has decided to change this procedure and now closed that Vendor account and opened a GL account by name of Employee Bonuses as a Balance Sheet Account, and makes direct postings to this accounts for employee commissions.
The problem faced is that tax is not calculated on amounts posted to this account. I went to the master record > control data and changed the tax category field from blank to one of the created tax category's. Now when i post the document the tax is still not calculated.
The T-Code used for posting document is fb50 and there is no option of checking calculate tax which i tick on. I have also included the tax code in the line item during doc. posting but to no avail.

Hi Mohammed ,
Withholding tax is related to either a customer or vendor, you cannot calcluate same on a GL account. From the link that I referenced you re taxes you will also see information on withholding tax.  The withholding tax will be found in the customer master or the vendor master record.
In Accounts Payable, the vendor is the person subject to tax, and the company code is obligated to deduct withholding tax and pay this over to the tax authorities on the vendoru2019s behalf.
In Accounts Receivable, the company code itself is subject to tax, and the customers that do business with this company code deduct withholding tax and pay this over to the tax authorities on the company codeu2019s behalf.

    A tax is raised during invoicing of electricity bill for all Contract Accounts. I have a requirement where I have to exempt tax for some Contract Accounts. The tax code has been defined in IMG in Financial Accounting.

  • Add tax item for a tax code in a G/L account item

    How do we add a tax item for a tax code in a G/L account item. Basically we get an error when we release the billing document to accounting like
    "Tax statement item missing for tax code"
    Diagnosis
    No tax item exists for tax code O0 in a G/L account item...

    Dear Prakash,
    There is no other setting than this. For double check please check below again:
    1. Tax code created in FTXP (Input / Output tax)
    2. Tax percentage maintained in FTXP if tax procedure in formula based & percentage assigned in FV12 if procedure is condition based against the identified condition type
    3. GL asignement in OB40 for auto posting against the account keys.

  • Expense Types with Input Tax (GST) - mapping to GL Account for reporting

    We are in the process of implementing Expenses for countries like Australia & New Zealand, which have GST.
    Expense Types were created and different Tax Codes were defaulted to the expense types, as per the requirement. Some Expense Types have no GST while some do have a Tax Code to 10% Input Tax
    The issue is, I cannot find a config step to map the Expense Types to Tax GL accounts so that the Finance office in Australia / New Zealand can submit their claims end of the year by pulling up a report from this GL. I can do the regular mapping of Expense Types to specific GLs. I can even settle & post the expenses to FI and reimburse the employees but there is no way I can record the receipts which have taxes on them into the tax GLs for reporting purposes.
    Any inputs on how this can be mapped or addressed is much appreciated. We went live with a bunch of countries but, the GST quotient is holding us off from going ahead with AU and NZ.
    Here's an example - Expense Type is Dinner. This is mapped to GL 123456. When an employee submits an Expense with the Dinner, it is settled and posted to FI against the GL 123456. The reimbursement is done. But, the Dinner expense receipt has 10% GST which the Finance team wants to submit and claim the tax breaks end of the year. We want all the expenses with 10% tax be mapped to GL 800900. But this is only for reporting reasons. No postings done against the GL 800900.
    So, we are looking to map all the Expense Types with Input Tax 10% to GL 800900 and all Expense Types with Input Tax 15% to GL 700600
    Here's some of the Tax Config that was done ...
    1). SPRO -> Financial Accounting -> Travel Management -> Travel Expenses -> Master Data -> Control Parameters for Travel Expenses -> Define Global Settings ... Input Tax is set to "Input Tax per Travel Expense Type"
    2). SPRO -> Financial Accounting -> Travel Management -> Travel Expenses -> Master Data -> Control Parameters for Travel Expenses -> Travel Expense Types -> Create Travel Expense Types for Individual Receipts ... in the Expense Type, "Tax Code" field is set the either 0% or 10% Tax Codes

    Issue is resolved ... I misunderstood the logic. Tax Code is linked to a GL account. And when I run PRRW, I see the relevant Tax amount in against the trip

  • Withholding tax type for special G/L accounts

    Hi,
    Is there a way to define a witholding tax type for a special G/L account type? Up now we can define a withholding tax type for a vendor, but we need to define withholds for particulars vendors/special GL accounts type combination.
    What we need is each time an invoice is posted, a withold is made for the vendor only if the posting account has a particular special G/L account type associated.
    I hope reqs. beeing understandable.

    Withholding tax type for special G/L or advance payment can be created as per tax type defined for general invoice/bill entry.
    But here the description will be different and '"central invoice proportionate" radio button has to be ticked.As it will help in deducting the tax which has been paid in advance.
    So that balance tax can be adjusted when invoice will be entered.
    Plz assign points if it is helpful.

  • Tax Accounts - Is it necessary to have separate tax acct. for each state

    I am new at this:
    Is it necessary to have separate AR/AP/ account for each tax jurisdiction like state county etc?\
    Or do the sales tax reports for payments in SAP produce outstanding taxes per jurisdiction.
    I would prefer only one Sales Tax account and hope to have SAP produce the taxes due per jurisdiction.

    So I only need to setup two tax accounts:
    1.  One tax account for tracking the AR taxes
    2.  One tax account for tracking the AP taxes
    So, to report the taxes to the different tax jurisdictions, SAP should be able to break then down individually for us to pay them.

  • Assigning a new tax key for V0 and VAT not possible

    Hi Experts,
    Invoice is been created successfully in SUS , XML transfered to XI which in turn created the IDOC in ECC.
    I get the below error while transferring theinvoice IDOC from XI to ECC.
    Assigning a new tax key for V0 and VAT not possible
    Message no. FD008
    Diagnosis
    In Financial Accounting customizing, the tax ID transferred in the invoice is missing so that the system cannot determine a tax code. The system could not determine an entry with the value V0 nor with the value VAT .
    Procedure
    In Financial Accounting customizing, include the external tax ID and a corresponding internal tax code for the present partner.
    Please let me know if I am missing any setup in ECC as I have already maintained the setup in OBCA, OBCD and OMRY.

  • Tax Conditions for Sales and Distribution using Jurisdiction Code in Canada

    Hello everyone,
    I would like to share with you a doubt relating taxes for Sales and Distribution in Canada.
    The Tax conditions for Sales and Distribution in Canada are the CTX1 (GST - Canada), CTX2 (PST - Canada) and CTX3 (Base + GST). These are the Tax Conditions which appear when creating a Material or a Client for the Canada Region, and are also the ones included in the Canada Standandard Pricing Procedure.
    I tried to apply the standard method of creating a Master Record for these conditions, but an error relating the Jurisdiction Code came out while releasing to accounting.
    Does anyone one how to procceed? Which are the important issues with Finance Accounting to take in to account?
    I would really appreciate any comment relating this issue.

    In first place, thank you very much for your quick response.
    I have tried many different procedures to get the aim, and among others, a new access sequence was created to allow the introduction of the Jurisdiction Code (UTXJ is not available for Sales Conditions) but once the Condition is created, it is not recognized when creating the Order ("pricing error: Mandatory condition CTX is missing"). Maybe it has something to do with the fact that these conditions are not included in the Finance Accounting Tax Procedure, where the conditions, which represent the same taxes but with different condition names, are defined for a certain Tax Code and Jurisdiction code.
    Among the different SAP notes for the error relating the Jurisdiction code, there was one proposing to change the Condition Category from "D" (Taxes) to a value between "1 and 4". By doing this a new error appears while creating the order, saying that there are conditions in the Tax procedure (JRC1, JRC2)which are not included in the Sales Pricing procedure. By including this conditions in the Pricing procedure, the Tax Conditions existing in the Finance Accounting Tax Procedure are brought to the Order Conditions, in addition to the Sales Tax Conditions. And there is something more, each Tax Condition from the Finance Accounting Procedure appears twice, one with the application V (Sales) with value zero, and one with application TX (Taxes) with the value existing in the Finance Accounting Taxes Procedure. This is how at the end, the corresponding %value of the taxes is brought to the Invoice with the correct Tax Code, and the proper Jurisdiction Code, which is different for each condition.

  • Tax determination for delivery charge

    Hi,
    We are using SAP IS Retail wherein actual sales is being sent out to SAP from web-site using Idoc type WPUBON.
    WPUBON IDOC is processed in SAP and billing document and accounting documents are created. This IDOC will carry the information of the articles that were sold and the delivery charges for dispatching the articles to customer.
    In normal scenario, VAT is applicable for article as well as the delivery charge and is taken care by the standard pricing procedure by accessing MWST condition. Tax code is derived from article master. VAT is calculated based on article price and delivery charge and posted into corresponding tax GL account (VAT amount for delivery charge is calculated based on tax class of article).
    We have a scenario where some articles are sold with tax exemption at website to disabled customers. Even though the article price is exempted for tax, delivery charge is taxable as per government rules.
    When this sales data comes into SAP the corresponding IDOC u2013 WPUBON has a tax code (E u2013 Exempted) against this article. This overrides the tax code maintained in article master while posting the billing document (Thought article is fully taxable as per master records, no tax is calculated when billing document is posted). Till this point we have no problem. As mentioned above, we want the tax to be calculated for delivery charge and posted to the tax GL account, which is not happening as the tax code applied for the article is also applied for delivery charge by default.
    Is there any way in configuration to change the tax determination only for delivery charge?
    Any pointer in this would be of great help.

    You can create and use a new tax code which is applicable only for Delivery charge cases.
    Use a new pricing condition type for this Tax .and condition records with access sequence and tax code can be amintianed only for this condition type.
    You will have to modify pricing procedure for the same.
    Depending on condition records and document inputs the tax values for delivery will get triggered.
    You can also put an order reason in Accounting determination access sequence through which on This special sales ,
    account determiantion can be changed.

    Field Text is a required field for G/L account 1000 301001.Earlier i was able to post the taxes.I checked with my FI consultant and he said that he has made text field manadatory and hence i need to make an entry in this text field.
    Kindly help me by telling me what i should do to do postings in the gl accounts.

  • BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST with TAX posting for FB60 t-code

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying upload the data using BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST with Tax(ACCOUNTTAX) for the FB60 t-code. But not getting right.

    Functionality
    Using this method you can create a posing in accounting for certain business transactions.
    Possible ( Business Transactions):
    Postings that generally only affect the general ledger. (RFBU)
    Billing: For billing in Sales and Distribution, accounting is supplied with the relevant billing data. (SD00) Billing Document
    Accounting can use the data of a logistics system that result from an Invoice Receipt. (RMRP)
    Goods Movement are triggered by transactions in Sales and Distribution or by inventory postings. Within logistics, they lead to a change in the warehouse stocks of <DS:GLOS.Inventory Management>Inventory Management. This results in a posting in accounting. This is why accounting is supplied with the relevant data from logistics. (RMWA)
    Example
    Billing document:
    By selling goods in accordance with targets, revenue is generated. The revenue is posted in billing and forwarded to accounting.
    Invoice receipt:
    Raw materials are purchased in accordance with targets. The invoice receipt is posted in a logistics system. The data from the raw materials is forwarded to accounting.
    Goods Movment:
    The use of raw materials leads to a change in stock in inventory managment. The posting of raw material consumption is forwarded to accounting.
    G/L Account Posting:
    Provision posting for an expected warranty service. This can refer to acquisitions or retirements belonging to stocks that are not in subledger accounting relevant to inventory management. This is particularly the case if such materials are not displayed as vendor/customer, materials, loans etc. or cannot be displayed in this way. This can also refer to write-ups or depreciation that contain higher aggregations of values than are maintained in a corresponding subledger that is relevant to inventory management.
    The conversion of foreign currencies for receivables/payables due to large exchange rate changes that should not lead to an update of the accounts payable or accounts receivable accounting. A similar transaction can arise for the revaluation of raw materials if this revaluation takes place at a correspondingly aggreagated level.
    Reclassification of inventory of P&L statement accounts that are only used for reconcilliation purposes in the general ledger (this rearranges values for balance sheet items).
    Balance reclassifications of stocks to receivables with different return times.
    Notes
    If the parameter CurrencyAmount is filled with the currency fields, a complete document check including characteristics and value components of profitability analysis (CO-PA). Otherwise, the account assignment objects are checked.
    Messages are returned in the parameter Return. In the parameter documentation you can find the return values and their meaning.

  • BAPI for updating tax code for purchase order..

    Hi friends,
      I have one requirement to change tax code for multiple Purchase order but the
    thing is they should not go for release.So what should I prefer BDC or BAPI.
      I am thinking to implement it through BAPI, but I don't know what procedure to follow.
    If somebody can provide me a small guiding steps or code then it will be very helpful for me..

Materials Management -> Purchasing -> Purchasing order processing ->define screen layout at document level. Search for the transaction ME21.Double click on ME21. Then search for TaxCode

    Search for the transaction ME21.Double click on ME21. Then search for TaxCode. It is advisable to configure also the info record. The tax code should be a required entry, and whatever you specify here will be the default value in the Purchase order.
    Materials Management -> Purchasing -> Purchasing info record -> define screen layout.
    When you get here you search for the transaction ME12 ,double click here; search for Input VAT indicator.

    we're using the Annual tax report for customer/vendor (Italy) in the ECC 6.0 version but we've the following problems:
    - We only see a list of records in the List error section, where the field "Group" is not valued, so we don't know if the list is really an error list or not.
    - We don't see anything in the results list
    Do you know if there is some OSS Note we can apply or some customizing activity we have to do. Thank you.

    Use Report MIR5
    MIR5 - Display List of Invoice Documents
    You can use the report Display List of Invoice Documents (RMMR1MDI; transaction code MIR5) to display a list of the invoice documents.
    In addition to the existing program Invoice Overview (transaction code MIR6), here you have extended selection criteria and display options:
    o   Gross invoice amount
    o   Unplanned delivery costs
    o   Currency key
    o   Exchange rate
    o   Entry date
    o   Entry time
    o   Choice between invoice and credit memo
    o   One-time customer with a one-time account
    In the Invoice Overview program you can also change invoices, whereas in this report you only have display options.
    By entering the following data you can increase your selection criteria:
    o   Entry type
    o   Invoice status
    o   Restrictions
    Output: -
    In the output list, the report displays the numbers of the posted and the parked invoice documents. The system does not display invoice documents that do not have a corresponding FI document, for example, invoice documents that are planned for verification in the background, or that have already been verified with errors.
        From the output list, you can display the following:
        o   Invoice document
        o   FI document or list of FI documents
            If more than one FI document is assigned to an invoice document, then you can display a list of all corresponding FI documents.
        o   List of all follow-on documents for an invoice document.

    In SPRO please check Financial Accounting -> Financial Accounting Global settings -> Extended witholding tax ->Reporting -> Assign forms for witholding taxes.
